building. My purpose at the library was to research The Civil Rights Movement and the Federal
Government Records of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, Police–Community Relations in
Urban Areas, 1954–1966 and obtain information from the Newspaper and Current Periodical
reading room. I was really disappointed that the librarian directed to me to ProQuest periodical.

The microfilms are located in the Madison building. The records focused on Black Americans, civil

The United States was forged in the fires of an abusive government. It is not so surprising then that

responsibility for its use to be judicial and fair for all people. Police power is confined by the

The Dangers Of Police Brutality
Should someone who works with the law be able to find certain loop holes and break laws that they
are supposed to inflict? In current times, there are what seem to be several reasons that police
officers act on. Those of the minority community, have been almost manipulated by the violence of
those in law enforcement in the United States. The police serve as an indispensable part of society.
They are the willing people who put their lives on the line everyday to be the protectors. The
occupation of law enforcement is considered courageous and ruthless as they protect citizens, seize

Good morning Ladies and gentlemen,
I would like to speak about the type of person that I am. For me, being a Police Officer meant a lot
of things. It meant enforcing the laws, serving the public and being the best representative for the
Dayton Police Department I could be. I performed my duties as a Police Officer to the best of my
ability. This was easy for me because of the skills I learned while severing my county. I was that
with the starched uniform and spit–shined boots on everyday. The Officer who mentored the youth
in the area I worked. The Officer who watched over the elderly, making them feel safe. I even
transported an elderly lady to the grocery store when needed in my Police Cruiser.
Being a patrolman is all that I wanted to be. I had no desire to make rank or to be a detective. I felt I
was needed more on the street with the troubled kids and the elderly. I was one of those troubled
kids when I was young living in the City of Chicago. I came from a family of Police Officers.
However, that didn't stop me from dropping out of school and getting into trouble. Things changed
