• Egypt is located in the northeastern
part of Africa and south of Europe. Its
capital is Cairo. It borders with Libya
from the west, with Sudan from south
and from east with Israel and Jordan.
Egypt is a Mediterranean

6. EGYPTIANS PYRAMIDS
The ancient Egyptians built
pyramids as tombs for the
pharaohs and their queens.
The pharaohs were buried in
pyramids of many different
shapes and sizes from before
the beginning of the Old
Kingdom to the end of the
Middle Kingdom.
There are about eighty
pyramids known today from
ancient Egypt. The three largest
and best-preserved of these
were built at Giza at the
beginning of the Old Kingdom.
The most well-known of these
pyramids was built for the
pharaoh Khufu. It is known as
the 'Great Pyramid'.

• Many of today's sports were practiced
by the Ancient Egyptians, who set the
rules for them. Inscriptions on
monuments indicate that they
practiced wrestling, weightlifting, long
jump, swimming, rowing, shooting,
fishing and athletics, as well as
various kinds of ball games.

• Today, football is by far the most popular
sport in Egypt and the Egyptian national
football team called the “Pharaohs” has taken
home the African Cup of Nations a total of
seven times.
• Football is not the only popular sport in Egypt
though. They also love playing tennis and
squash.
10. LEISURE TIME IN ANCIENT EGYPT
• The Egyptians had board games to play in their
leisure time. Many of the Egyptian board games
were simple boards that could be drawn on
simple surfaces like wood, or stone.
• Music played an essential role in the lives of
ancient Egyptians to pass the time. Paintings and
Egyptian sculptures found in tombs suggest that
the majority of the musicians were females.
11. EDUCATION IN ANCIENT EGYPT
• Ancient Egyptian education was a system which was
implemented to educate the young children in various
subjects. Common subjects included in ancient
Egyptian education were reading, writing, mathematics,
as well as religious instructions and morals.
• People of lower classes usually could not send their
children to schools because of the limited number of
schools, and these (schools) were typically reserved for
children from royal and rich backgrounds.
12. EDUCATION IN ANCIENT EGYPT
• Girls were not sent to school. Instead,
their education was conducted at home.
Mothers were the source of education
for girls who instructed them in various
matters such as sewing, cooking, and
reading etc.

• The public education system in Egypt
consists of three levels: the basic
education stage for 4–14 years old.
• kindergarten for two years
• primary school for six years
• and preparatory school for three years.
