Conduct A Porter 's Five Force Analysis
#1: Conduct a Porter 's Five force analysis. (Show your work.)
The case is about Loblaw companies Inc., a highly successful grocery chain in Canada. Loblaw is Canada's largest food distributor. The major issue is
the emergence of Wal–Mart, who is looking to pursue expanding their grocery line chain in the Canadian market. According to Yunna (2014),
porter's five forces model has been widely applied to analyze industry competition in various markets. Using Porter's 5 Forces to analysis the issues
of the case can be a useful tool in summarizing the attractiveness of the market or industry. According to Dobbs (2012), the five forces are the threats
posed by competitive rivalry, powerful buyers, powerful suppliers, potential new entrants, and substitute products. The analysis of Porter's five forces
framework can be viewed in figure 1. The case describes the retailer–supplier relationships as power plays. As the scale would tilt in favor of the one
wielding the most clout at a point in time. There are numerous manufacturers with various substitutions among the grocery store. However, a
supermarket would lease out shelf space for rent. The manufacturers would pay the grocery store a combination of different allowance to obtain secure
shelf and warehouse positions for its products. Ultimately the category manager had the final word, which left the manufacturers with little to no
bargaining power. Consumers are creatures of habit. In terms of the buyer

(Kotler, p.20). Target Canada understands this concept in today's business world, as they have established many partnerships with many different
companies and brands. In recent memory, Target has partnered up with Roots Canada, Sobeys, and Starbucks which has proven to be a strength for
them. The strategic partnership with Roots Canada not only provides products for customers that they cannot find elsewhere, it gives Target a
competitive advantage and also gives them access to a wider range of expertise and resources necessary to run their business. In addition, the
partnership with Starbucks allows most Target stores to have a Starbucks, which has many advantages such as allowing customers to have their
favorite specialty beverages and baked goods while shopping while it also attracts more people into Target locations. Finally, the partnership with
Sobeys allows for Target to buy and distribute temp–controlled, non–direct products such as dairy, frozen, perishables and chocolate. This is important
to Target because it allows them to operate their grocery department smoothly and makes the acquisition of inventory easy because they are working
closely with an established company in the grocery market. Some companies fear that partnerships may hinder their companies because of how close

Coca Cola 's Organizational Performance And Interaction...
Through this term, our team has researched and analyzed the Coca Cola as to its organizational performance and interaction based on group
behavior. We will now conclude our research. Our results were based on the Action Model of organizational and group conditions and determined if
the given model is effective in preventing roadblocks to achieve success. We will also offer recommendations of our overall analysis in order to
determine if improvement is needed and how to implement change when presented to us. In order to enact this model and to make it effective there
are certain factors that need to be considered. Groups need to exert enough joint effort in order to accomplish tasks at acceptable levels of
performance. Every member of the group has to offer the adequate skills and knowledge regarding the subject at hand. Also, consideration to cultural
and organizational setting have to be taken into consideration (Harrison, 2005). Action Model Group Behavior The Coca Cola Co. is very involved
with group level behavior. They not only involve immediate persons within the physical organization, but stakeholders worldwide. The company
engages with their numerous partner bunches in an assortment of formal and casual settings over the whole Coca–Cola framework. Their engagements
range from gatherings with nearby, provincial, and national gatherings to continuous exchanges with their bottlers, suppliers, and purchasers across the

As we now know I'm currently earning ~$44,500, and in preparation for my review I did a little homework. According to my research, with my skills
and knowledge, I should be earning more. I would like to discuss an increase in my compensation to reflect the effort I've put into this team and this
company.
In addition to being a great front end developer, I feel a big strength that goes overlooked is supporting the FEDs and my other coworkers by giving
them the tools to do their job better. Whenever I see the same task being repeated over and over, I invest sometime into seeing if there's a way to
streamline it, or automate, or remove it all together. After all, if there's a way to do easily do something in half the time, it will very quickly pay for
the time researched. With this in mind, I have learned many shortcuts, found tools, and invested in hardware to help with coding, and the work
surrounding it.
There's no better example of this than with the Sobey's templates. In my early months of working at inbox I had to create many weekly emails for
Sobeys. These are templates that are more or less the same design but with different 5–8 different branding combinations, and across 4 different
domains. When I started, these tasks would take about 8 hours to code including revisions. After quickly growing tired with the repetition, I learned
methods of streamlining this process such as using the command prompt to batch rename files, and using sublime's built–in REGEX tool to

Opioid Addicts
The state of Massachusetts has been fighting a vicious battle with the spread of opioid addiction. Heroin and other opioid drug related addicts have
formed a very negative outlook of themselves. A great deal of people view addicts as classic criminals. Addiction is an actual mental illness, something
that the addict cannot control. Treating these struggling individuals as criminals is an unnecessary and cruel punishment. The state of Massachusetts
needs to break the stigma that all opioid addicts are criminals and starting viewing opioid addiction as a serious mental illness.
Over the past decade, Massachusetts has lost close to 7,000 people to heroin and other opioid drug related overdoses. As of 2015, there have been

Coca-Cola, Value Chain
Introduction Coca Cola markets nearly 2,400 beverages products in over 200 geographic locations. As a result development of a superior value system
is imperative to their operations. Throughout this paper we will analyze their value system by using Michael Porter's value chain analysis model. In an
attempt to paint a current picture of the non–alcoholic beverage industry we will assess the market activity by using mergers, acquisitions and IPO'S
as our benchmarks to determine if the market is growing or contracting. Value Chain Analysis A value chain is a model used to disaggregate a firm into
its strategically relevant value generating activities, in order to evaluate each activity's contribution to the firm's performance (Terms V... Show more

Examples of their commitment to these strategies are seen in their plant in Indonesia, where boats are used to transport the products between hundreds
of islands throughout the Amazon. This is often because waterways are often the main way to access these remote islands. In some of the higher
elevations of in the Andes, Coca Cola products are sometimes transported by four–legged power. Across much of Africa, bottlers deliver to thousands of
family–run kiosks and home–based stores. Marketing and Sales Out of approximately 2,400 products, Coca Cola markets four of the worlds top sales
drink brands. Although the industry is relatively small and they only directly compete with two companies, creativity is a vital marketing strategy to
Coca Cola. Coca Cola's ultimate goal is to deepen their brands' connection with consumers. As a result, they have to constantly reinvent their product
(Coca Cola 2006). The marketing strategy they use is directly linked to the consumer; from advertising, to point of sale, to ultimately opening and
consuming a Coca Cola beverage. Techniques which they have used to achieve this include developing new products and brands, changing the design
of their packaging, and designing various new advertising campaigns (Coca Cola 2006). On October 19th, Coca Cola reported their earnings for the
third quarter. Earnings per share are up which results in higher benefits for shareholders. According to Neville

Who Is The Grocery Manager At Sobeys?
I recently interviewed Mr. Dereck Sawh, who is the Grocery Manager at Sobeys. To sum up the interview, he defined leadership as being able to
empower your employees/ followers. That is, that leadership involves assisting other people to rise to their full potential while still being able to
accomplish the organization's goals. He also pointed up that good leaders should possess honesty and good ethical behaviour. He argues that leaders
should always change their leadership style depending on the situation and employee and that leaders who cannot do this, will eventually fail. He
talked about his experience with an unproductive employee Matt. Matt was a very hard working employee, but lately he seem to not care about
his job at all; twice he had been late for his shift and once he didn't show up at all, his level of work performance had also dropped tremendously.
After the third occurrence Mr. Sawh was told my his store manager that Matt should be fired, but instead Mr. Sawh called matt into his office,
where he tried to get to the bottom of this sudden change in behaviour. Matt was having problems at home and had no on he could talk to so Mr.
Sawh set aside time to talk with him to make him feel better, he gave Matt the rest of the day off along with a letter of employee expectations. Since
then Matt had been himself again and Mr. Sawh checks in with him regularly incase he needs to talk. Mr. Sawh attributes his leadership style to that of

destroyed houses, burned cars, trampolines, and bikes. Some houses were burned halfway while others only had the foundations leftover. The sight of
burned houses was depressing.

Loblaw Companies is facing the greatest competitive challenge of its recent history with the launch of Wal–Mart into their markets. Having originally
entered the market in 1994 through the acquisition of 122 Woolco Stores, Wal–Mart is planning to open their first SuperCenter in Canada imminently.

This analysis as of the industry and Loblaw also illustrate how critical operational responses, not pricing or marketing alone, are required to sustain its
existing growth rate and achieve higher growth over time. Each of the specific aspects of Porter's Model is next analyzed and insights are used for
defining alternatives and recommendations for the strategic direction of Loblaw.
Threat of Substitute Products and Retail Outlets
Given the relatively high level of capitalization required to move into the Canadian retail grocery market and the Internal Rate of Return (IRR) also
required, these two factors combined create a formidable barrier to entry for competitors. The exceptions are the well–capitalized global competitors
including Carrefour and Wal–Mart. Loblaw's reliance on stores–as–a–brand, Control Label, and Customer Loyalty provide a unique mix of products
which also alleviates potential conflicts with lower–end retailers and their regional strengths and weaknesses.
Supplier Power
For Loblaw the continual improving of electronic initiatives including the adoption of the ECCNet standard and the development of more advanced
support of demand planning, ERP integration of supply chain planning and execution, have given the company a defendable position with suppliers.
The supplier community in retailing tends to dominate the smaller retailers, yet the converse is true with the larger,

A major reason for this is directly correlated to their innovative ways to lower cost and increase profit margins. Loblaw's must continue striving for
excellence and remodel their supply chain, in order to maintain and exceed their company profit margins. Without proactively adapting to new
technologies Loblaw's will fall behind the market standard and lose their position in the market, potentially losing profit margins and market share.
Integrated Strategy Loblaw's is one of the most successful companies in the grocery retail industry in Canada, in order for Loblaw's to penetrate a
global market they must identify, plan and execute a strategy. Loblaw's needs to identify new market potential internationally which in turn increase
profit and gross margins, in order to continue expanding. Such starting locations for expansion that seem feasible are developing cities in the United
States that are relatively close to the Canadian boarder. This will make it easier to control and monitor this project closely, because since this is the
first global expansion, Loblaw's should keep a close eye on their productivity to determine if they can compete globally. Their financial records
indicate that they can expand. Their gross margins and profits are in relatively good standing indicating that they have more money to payoff expenses
and potentially expand. The Loblaw's philosophy of not acquiring debt and using cash flow to purchase new real estate

A Brief Note On Canada 's Labour Force
"Collective bargaining was not just a means of raising wages and improving working conditions. It was a demand by organized workers for a new
status, and the right to participate in decision making both in industry and government" (Macdowell, p.175). Canada 's economy has gone through
many changes in the last century. From the crash of the stock market to the end of the second World War, many new oppourtunities were brought into
Canada 's labour force. Women began to gain recogniation for their contribution in the labour force during the war and were also joining men in the
labour force. Unions were also introduced following many upgrades to the health and safety laws in the labour force. In today 's modern world,
Canada has become an econmic globalized economy. In the past, trading of goods and services were done with local communities but with the
introduction of economic globalization, the trading of goods services is now done between neighbouring provinces, nations, and countries. Many
different workplace sectors have been affected by econmic globalization and the one that will be focused on in this paper will be the retail sector.
Canada's retail workplace and the workers, who work in retail stores, have been transformed due to economic globalization in regards to economic
integration and interdependence between the economies within the state and around the world. This results in more jobs and services that would

It is mentioned earlier that there are no locations in Saskatchewan, Manitoba and much of their target market in the United States. Fix Auto needs to
focus on their primary objective of becoming the North American auto body repair chain. Fix Auto is experiencing overexpansion. "Overexpansion
often occurs when business owners confuse success with how fast they can expand their business" (Schaefer, 2006, Overexpansion.). In a 2005 study
done by the Law School at the University of Chicago, It was found that of the chapter 11 small business Bankruptcies issued in the United States,
overexpansion contributed to a "non–trivial" (Baird & Morrison, 2005, Pg. 7, Para. 1) number of cases. The best method for expansion is steadily and
to move to new countries one at a time. (Schaefer, 2006, Overexpansion). Fix Auto should capitalize on their existing regions such as the United States,
Canada, and the United Kingdom before moving into new markets such as Australia, South Africa and Turkey.
If Fix Auto desires to maximize corporate efficiency, they need to begin operating the differing regions as separate companies with unique management

October, 2014
Business News Daily, 2013 explained PEST Analysis (Political, Economic, Social and Technological Analysis) as how those external factors can affect
a business's activities and performance...
The article further explained that aside the fact that some organizations already have factors affecting their performance, there are some factors outside
the organization that can determine the positive result of business. For those organizations to determine how those factors outside the organization can
be of positive impact, they decide to conduct a PEST Analysis. In this research, I would be using TARGET CANADA as a case study on PEST

firm which has been losing market share and requires a great deal of new investment to remain competitive. The ailing product is a personal data
appliance, or PDA, that once led the market in features and innovation, only to fall prey to competition from numerous firms once it had paved the way
for the product category. Complicating Jennifer's analysis and recommendation are several political issues involving the wayward division. In
particular, Working's recently returned CEO, Stewart Workman, has decided that the product (the Bernoulli device) is a "loser" and has... Show more

The division expected to sell a total of 300,000 units by the end of 2003 at a price of $495 each. The model expected to ship beginning in late 2004
would sell at the same price point. The division's managers estimated, though, that the revised Bernoulli would have cost of goods sold of 54 percent
of the retail price with higher operating expenses of 26 percent due to increased advertising. Given the competitive nature of the industry, these price
point and cost estimates are expected to remain the same for the next several years.
For strategic planning purposes, Working's management allocated depreciation to the existing Bernoulli division as though the entire division was an
asset and depreciated it using the straight line method over 10 years, with five years of operation behind it. The initial investment of $56 million had
been made in early 1999. The new funds allocated to the division would be treated similarly, except that management had decided that any new
investment would be depreciated using the straight line method over 5 years; due to changes in the industry since 1999, this was expected to be more
consistent with the nature of the market for computing devices and PDAs. Working's managers used a weighted average cost of capital, or hurdle rate, of
14.5 percent when evaluating capital budgeting projects, and Jennifer felt that this would be an appropriate

The grocery industry has a relatively high market commonality; a lot of grocery stores are somewhat related in terms of technologies used, labor force

The Canadian Market And The American Market
Although the Canadian market has basically five big players taking over almost 80% of the market share, it does not mean that the competition is
weak. Comparing this information to the American market, over 20 firms divide the same 80% of the market share. The economy and consumer
habits in both countries are also very different, which causes American companies to struggle when entering the Canadian Market. Target, the
American chain turned back and left Canada after an attempt to take a portion of the Canadian market. Currently in Canada, due to the economic
turndown and weaker currency, food prices rose signifficantly. Fruit and vegetable prices rose 9% in 2015, while meat prices rose 5%. Naturally it
would be expected to have cut back on spending, or at least a movement towards switching to lower cost products, but it actually did not happen in
Canada. In fact, "food prices have been up in every one of the last six quarters. Meanwhile, Metro's same–store sales have outpaced food inflation over
five of those quarters" (The Motley Fool Canada, 2016). It means that Metro has been able to sell more groceries at higher prices in spite of record
inflation levels. Loblaw and Metro, two of the major players of the industry have seen the share prices advancing higher this year, despite a TSX
decline of over 5%. These singularities of the Canadian market might impose a barrier for international potential entrants, but the game never ends, the

IDENTIFYING COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES Video: Panera Bread Cohesion Case: Competitive Advantage:Business Dilemma To survive and
thrive, an organization must create a competitive advantage. A competitive advantage is a product or service that an organization 's customers place a
greater value on than similar offerings from a competitor. Unfortunately, competitive advantages are typically temporary because competitors often
seek ways to duplicate the competitive advantage. In turn, organizations must develop a strategy based on a new competitive advantage. When an

With respect to the relationship with suppliers, organizations function as buyers and thus prefer to increase their own buyer power with suppliers
(and create competitive advantage). In this situation, organizations want to work with a large pool of suppliers to potentially supply the desired

when buyers have few choices to buy from and low when they have many choices. Supplier power is the converse of buyer power. Again, there are two
situations in the supply chain where organizations need to be concerned: i) in their relationships with customers; and ii) in their relationships with
suppliers. Regarding the relationships with customers, organizations function as suppliers and thus want supplier power to be high. With respect to the
relationships with suppliers, organizations function as buyers and therefore want supplier power to be low (see Figure 1.14). As a buyer, the
organization can create a competitive advantage by locating alternative supply sources. IS–enabled business–to–business (B2B) marketplaces can help.

What Are the Challenges in the Implementation of Erp System!
What are the challenges in the implementation of ERP system!
Information systems play a vital role in improving the competitiveness of a company. There are many types of enterprise information software
packages which are available in the market since the year of 90s till today (Mandal & Gunasekaran, 2003). Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) is one
of them. Due to intense competition around the world, many of the manufacturing company had decided to implement ERP. It assures one application,

Big bang and the phased–in approach are the two general approaches to achieve this objective. The big bang method is known to be more ambitious
and risky of the other two. Most organizations are using this approach to change the operations of their outdated system to the latest system which in
one event implements the ERP system throughout the entire company. This particular method had certain advantages, where it has been linked to few
system failures. This is because during the implementation of ERP system is going on, on day one of implementing, the employees of the
organization will not have the capability to understand the new system. Therefore, it brings the feeling to the employees like learning a new job. In
many cases, most companies would not have sufficient knowledge of functionality of the system that they had replace and also because ERP system
serves the entire organization and employees who does data input points will find themselves entering more data than they used to do previously with
the old system. Nevertheless, the main problem with big bang approach is that the entire company is affected and these problems usually occurred
whenever any new system is implemented. Therefore, the speed of the new system usually suffers and causes the interruption to day to day activity of
the company (Hall, 2007).
Secondly, the phased–in approach has issued as a popular alternative. This way is more suitable with the

Market Segmentation In Canada
(B) We used a combination of three market segmentation variables using two different approaches. We chose these variables because we feel that they
are the best choices for differentiating between market segments. The first thing we did was use the Geographic approach to limit our scope. Using the
Regional variable to divide Canada into provinces, we decided to limit our market to that of Newfoundland and Labrador; as a new start–up, it makes
sense to begin small with a familiar market with the potential for growth. Then, using Market Density, we determined that since almost 40% of

Global Expansion
WFM is trying to develop a strategic plan to grow their business in an extremely competitive market. They are searching for ways to sustain their strong
financial and cultural capabilities without losing revenue. Societal trends are shifting towards a healthier and environmental lifestyle, which is
substantially affecting the food retail industry. To keep up with these societal trends, grocery stores are incorporating organic and healthier food
products into the stores. This poses as a threat towards WFM, as their value proposition is substantially losing its worth. WFM must assess the
company from an internal and external perspective in order to determine if expanding their locations into Canada will be worthwhile. There is a variety
of risks that the company must assess prior to implementation. If WFM decides to expand through a slow process, there is a possibility of their

Marketing Strategy Of Nestle 's Hot Pockets
Marketing Strategy Positioning Strategy Position Statement: Hot Pockets, the easy snack, Too HOT for the shelves The Marketing Mix Product
Strategy NestlГ©'s Hot Pockets is a product line that belongs to the frozen food entrees. Frozen entrees are products that are convenient to the
consumer. A consumer may spend minutes in the store comparing different brands based on the number of choices, prices, product packaging and
nutritional value, but on average it takes about six seconds to make a decision. To increase the chances of NestlГ©'s Hot Pockets to be chosen, it
is important that the benefits and advantages of Hot Pockets are clearly visible on the packaging, as well keep the package simple so the
consumer cant get confused. The other product that is in the family brand is Lean Pockets, a healthier version of Hot Pockets directed to the
millennial consumers that are into the healthy fitness craze. A change for Lean Pockets would be to increase the size of the health benefits, as well
make the word "protein" larger and more visible on the package box. Hot Pockets have been a NestlГ© product since 2002 when NestlГ© bought
the product line from Chef American Inc. the one advantage NestlГ© has established is that there is over 20 varieties of Hot Pockets which includes

There is reason behind the fact that Canada's atlantic region reaps the highest price average. The population of canada's Atlantic region has decreased
significantly in the past years. Statistics Canada quotes "the Atlantic provinces' population growth remains significantly lower than elsewhere, and has
been close to zero since the late 1990s–." With the population decreasing in these provinces, the prices of imported products such as Nutella would
increase. As learned in class, the less consumers there are to support the market, the higher the price will be.To add to this sudden dilemma, The
import taxes to the atlantic provinces are the highest in Canada. Nova Scotia's provincial rate for import taxes is a staggering 10% in comparison to
Ontario with 8%. The territories combined have an import rate of 0%! On that note, it is observed that the Central region has the lowest prices in all
of Canada. Most of citizens of the Atlantic provinces have immigrated to the central region to places such as Toronto and Montreal. The population of
Ontario is 12,851,821 people while the combined population of the Atlantic provinces is 2,327,638 people. There is another reason why the central
region seems to be the hub for nutella. According to the official Ferrero Canada website, in 1974 Ferrero Canada, first opened for business in Toronto,
Ontario. Not only that, but in October 2006, Ferrero opened a new manufacturing plant in Brantford, Ontario, Canada. The 900,000ftВІ plant serves

Eating Traditional Portuguese Food In My Family
Eating traditional Portuguese food was a way of connecting with my living family members and ancestors. Preparing, eating, sharing these foods, as
well as sharing the stories associated with them were vital in the maintenance of my Portuguese identity. The first few months of being vegan were
difficult because I struggled to fit in. Eating at the dinner table with my aunts, uncles, and cousins became an uncomfortable activity. I was constantly
met with criticism, confusion, and disappointment. I was also pressured, from several family members, to return to my past ways of eating. I could no
longer share in the experience of eating these traditional foods with my family. They felt like I was rejecting them, which was definitely not the case.
Although food is a major part of my culture, it is not the only thing that connects me to it. I can still engage with song, language, and dance. Those
things were important for me to remember when I first started out as a vegan. My decision to stop eating meat and dairy wasn't about my family. It
was about living in a way that does the least harm to the planet and its sentient beings. Nowadays, I'm experiencing more understanding from my
family. Some of them have been doing their own research and are open to having conversations with me about eating ethically. Of course, there are a
lot of conversations that still need to happen.

The Role Of Parental Sexual Orientation On Children 's...
Abstract The rise of same–sex couples has brought about discussion on the influence of family structure on children's development. Findings are
presented on a sample of 20 gay father families, 20 lesbian mother families and 20 heterosexual parent families who have a child of age 4–6 years.
Natural observations in a lab environment recorded children's tendency to choose gender specific, non–gender specific or neutral toys. Comparisons in
toy choice were made between children of gay–, lesbian– and same–sex parents. Overall, children from heterosexual families showed greater gender
stereotyping than children from homosexual families and both gender and sexual orientation of parents were found to be predictive of a child's toy
choice. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While recent research looking into the structure of the family on children's gender development has found some results indicating no difference
between homosexual and heterosexual families (Chan, Rayboy, & Patterson, 1998; Patterson, 1992), most studies have found that homosexual family
structures account for lower gender–stereotyped behaviours (Flaks, Ficher, Masterpasqua & Joseph, 1995; Goldberg, Kashy, & Smith, 2012; Suftin,
Fulcher, Bowles & Patterson, 2008). With this discrepancy in the research, further exploration into the gender differences of children from gay–,
lesbian– and heterosexual families will help understand the effects of socialization on gender development and how to better promote the wellbeing
and cognitive, social and personal development of children.
Gender Development Children's gender development begins almost as soon as children can talk (Serbin, Powlishta, & Gulko, 1993). With the early
age of gender development, children's toy choice and play behaviours have been found to be efficient ways of measuring gender stereotypes. Many
studies have found that males and females are more likely to engage in gender–typed behaviours during periods of play (Cherney & Dempsey, 2010).
Recent research is beginning to see this as a problem and recognizes gender flexibility as more positive for children's development. An article

A New Event Planner Entrepreneur, And New Computer...
Introduction In a previous project, I identified three top trends in my profession and delivered the information in an annotated bibliography. As a new
event planner entrepreneur, I conducted research on what's trending in the event planning industry and my top trends were creativity, event–driven

chose to conduct research on EDM based on the following factors: 1) EDM presented a distinct approach to direct marketing and traditional database
marketing which typically use statistical data. 2) Several resources provided the most dynamic, measurable information and varying utilization in
multiple industries. 3) The results from implementing EDM presented a positive effect on key performance indicators. EDM is a discipline within

Reference). For countless years Euthanasia has been a controversial topic in the Canadian legal system. Many people believe that the act of assisting in a
suicide should remain illegal because it can shorten the life of humans; however, others believe that assisting in a suicide should be legal only if the
person in question is suffering from a terminal illness. The euthanasia controversy struck Canada when a man by the name of Robert Latimer killed
his daughter because she was suffering from a fatal disease. At birth Latimer's daughter, Tracy, suffered severe brain damage due to an oxygen... Show

visit is how painful Tracy was. Her mother was holding her right leg in a fixed, flexed position with her knee in the air and any time you tried to
move that leg Tracy expressed pain and cried out" (Blanco Juan). This statement from Tracy's doctor illustrates that she is at her nadir and her
quality of life is very low due to the all the pain she is in; this is only from the physical pain, one may feel emotionally unstable when faced with the
type of life Tracy is living. The Canadian government must make every effort to develop the happiness of individuals. In doing so, death should be

Loblaw is Canada's largest food distributor. The major issue is the emergence of Wal–Mart, who is looking to pursue expanding their grocery line chain in the Canadian market. According to Yunna (2014), porter's five forces model has been widely applied to analyze industry competition in various markets. Using Porter's 5 Forces to analysis the issues of the case can be a useful tool in summarizing the attractiveness of the market or industry. According to Dobbs (2012), the five forces are the threats posed by competitive rivalry, powerful buyers, powerful suppliers, potential new entrants, and substitute products. The analysis of Porter's five forces framework can be viewed in figure 1. The case describes the retailer–supplier relationships as power plays. As the scale would tilt in favor of the one wielding the most clout at a point in time. There are numerous manufacturers with various substitutions among the grocery store. However, a supermarket would lease out shelf space for rent. The manufacturers would pay the grocery store a combination of different allowance to obtain secure shelf and warehouse positions for its products. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Kotler, p.20). Target Canada understands this concept in today's business world, as they have established many partnerships with many different companies and brands. In recent memory, Target has partnered up with Roots Canada, Sobeys, and Starbucks which has proven to be a strength for them. The strategic partnership with Roots Canada not only provides products for customers that they cannot find elsewhere, it gives Target a competitive advantage and also gives them access to a wider range of expertise and resources necessary to run their business. In addition, the partnership with Starbucks allows most Target stores to have a Starbucks, which has many advantages such as allowing customers to have their favorite specialty beverages and baked goods while shopping while it also attracts more people into Target locations. Finally, the partnership with Sobeys allows for Target to buy and distribute temp–controlled, non–direct products such as dairy, frozen, perishables and chocolate. This is important to Target because it allows them to operate their grocery department smoothly and makes the acquisition of inventory easy because they are working closely with an established company in the grocery market. According to my research, with my skills and knowledge, I should be earning more. I would like to discuss an increase in my compensation to reflect the effort I've put into this team and this company. In addition to being a great front end developer, I feel a big strength that goes overlooked is supporting the FEDs and my other coworkers by giving them the tools to do their job better. Whenever I see the same task being repeated over and over, I invest sometime into seeing if there's a way to streamline it, or automate, or remove it all together. After all, if there's a way to do easily do something in half the time, it will very quickly pay for the time researched. With this in mind, I have learned many shortcuts, found tools, and invested in hardware to help with coding, and the work surrounding it. There's no better example of this than with the Sobey's templates. In my early months of working at inbox I had to create many weekly emails for Sobeys. These are templates that are more or less the same design but with different 5–8 different branding combinations, and across 4 different domains. When I started, these tasks would take about 8 hours to code including revisions. After quickly growing tired with the repetition, I learned methods of streamlining this process such as using the command prompt to batch rename files, and using sublime's built–in REGEX tool to ... Threat of Substitute Products and Retail Outlets Given the relatively high level of capitalization required to move into the Canadian retail grocery market and the Internal Rate of Return (IRR) also required, these two factors combined create a formidable barrier to entry for competitors. The exceptions are the well–capitalized global competitors including Carrefour and Wal–Mart. Loblaw's reliance on stores–as–a–brand, Control Label, and Customer Loyalty provide a unique mix of products which also alleviates potential conflicts with lower–end retailers and their regional strengths and weaknesses. Supplier Power For Loblaw the continual improving of electronic initiatives including the adoption of the ECCNet standard and the development of more advanced support of demand planning, ERP integration of supply chain planning and execution, have given the company a defendable position with suppliers.

  • 36. Market Segmentation In Canada (B) We used a combination of three market segmentation variables using two different approaches. We chose these variables because we feel that they are the best choices for differentiating between market segments. The first thing we did was use the Geographic approach to limit our scope. Using the Regional variable to divide Canada into provinces, we decided to limit our market to that of Newfoundland and Labrador; as a new start–up, it makes sense to begin small with a familiar market with the potential for growth. Then, using Market Density, we determined that since almost 40% of Newfoundland and Labrador's population lives in St. John's (196,965 out of 514,540), we would limit our market to that of the Avalon Peninsula, with potential for ... There is reason behind the fact that Canada's atlantic region reaps the highest price average. The population of canada's Atlantic region has decreased significantly in the past years. Statistics Canada quotes "the Atlantic provinces' population growth remains significantly lower than elsewhere, and has been close to zero since the late 1990s–." With the population decreasing in these provinces, the prices of imported products such as Nutella would increase. As learned in class, the less consumers there are to support the market, the higher the price will be.To add to this sudden dilemma, The import taxes to the atlantic provinces are the highest in Canada. Nova Scotia's provincial rate for import taxes is a staggering 10% in comparison to Ontario with 8%. The territories combined have an import rate of 0%! On that note, it is observed that the Central region has the lowest prices in all of Canada. Most of citizens of the Atlantic provinces have immigrated to the central region to places such as Toronto and Montreal. The population of Ontario is 12,851,821 people while the combined population of the Atlantic provinces is 2,327,638 people. There is another reason why the central region seems to be the hub for nutella. • 44. Eating Traditional Portuguese Food In My Family Eating traditional Portuguese food was a way of connecting with my living family members and ancestors. Preparing, eating, sharing these foods, as well as sharing the stories associated with them were vital in the maintenance of my Portuguese identity. The first few months of being vegan were difficult because I struggled to fit in. Eating at the dinner table with my aunts, uncles, and cousins became an uncomfortable activity. I was constantly met with criticism, confusion, and disappointment. I was also pressured, from several family members, to return to my past ways of eating. I could no longer share in the experience of eating these traditional foods with my family. They felt like I was rejecting them, which was definitely not the case. Although food is a major part of my culture, it is not the only thing that connects me to it. I can still engage with song, language, and dance. Those things were important for me to remember when I first started out as a vegan. My decision to stop eating meat and dairy wasn't about my family. It was about living in a way that does the least harm to the planet and its sentient beings. Nowadays, I'm experiencing more understanding from my family. • 45. The Role Of Parental Sexual Orientation On Children 's... Abstract The rise of same–sex couples has brought about discussion on the influence of family structure on children's development. Findings are presented on a sample of 20 gay father families, 20 lesbian mother families and 20 heterosexual parent families who have a child of age 4–6 years. Natural observations in a lab environment recorded children's tendency to choose gender specific, non–gender specific or neutral toys. Comparisons in toy choice were made between children of gay–, lesbian– and same–sex parents. Overall, children from heterosexual families showed greater gender stereotyping than children from homosexual families and both gender and sexual orientation of parents were found to be predictive of a child's toy choice. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While recent research looking into the structure of the family on children's gender development has found some results indicating no difference between homosexual and heterosexual families (Chan, Rayboy, & Patterson, 1998; Patterson, 1992), most studies have found that homosexual family structures account for lower gender–stereotyped behaviours (Flaks, Ficher, Masterpasqua & Joseph, 1995; Goldberg, Kashy, & Smith, 2012; Suftin, Fulcher, Bowles & Patterson, 2008). With this discrepancy in the research, further exploration into the gender differences of children from gay–, lesbian– and heterosexual families will help understand the effects of socialization on gender development and how to better promote the wellbeing and cognitive, social and personal development of children. Gender Development Children's gender development begins almost as soon as children can talk (Serbin, Powlishta, & Gulko, 1993). With the early age of gender development, children's toy choice and play behaviours have been found to be efficient ways of measuring gender stereotypes. Many studies have found that males and females are more likely to engage in gender–typed behaviours during periods of play (Cherney & Dempsey, 2010). Recent research is beginning to see this as a problem and recognizes gender flexibility as more positive for children's development. An article ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Introduction In a previous project, I identified three top trends in my profession and delivered the information in an annotated bibliography. As a new event planner entrepreneur, I conducted research on what's trending in the event planning industry and my top trends were creativity, event–driven marketing (EDM), and new computer technology. An extension of the project required an archive–based qualitative approach to one of the trends. I chose to conduct research on EDM based on the following factors: 1) EDM presented a distinct approach to direct marketing and traditional database marketing which typically use statistical data. 2) Several resources provided the most dynamic, measurable information and varying utilization in multiple industries. 3) The results from implementing EDM presented a positive effect on key performance indicators. EDM is a discipline within marketing where companies aim to access identifiable changes in a customer's individual needs. In this context and described by Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, an "event" is defined as a detectable change in an individual's circumstances, that is relevant and significant, either in fact or in their mind. A "significant event" is a major occurrence in a customer's life. EDM is also synonymous with event–based marketing (EBM) and Trigger–based marketing.
