2. Although we didn’t use many props in our music video, because it was more of a
performance style film. I have taken one of the only props from each dream/ stage of
the video to show how it relates to the motifs of our music video, as well as the dreams
themselves.
3. Cherry Red Mustang Car
The relevance of the car was a way of showing the audience that the girl wanted to
escape. In her reality she stands at a bus stop looking miserable. She has to depend on
other things such as buses to allow her to move freely. By having the car she is free to
do what she wants, when she wants. It also implies the idea of becoming of age and
having a first car. The main characters dreams show that she wants her own part of
freedom.
4. Shell
We are going to use the element of the shell as a light motif that appears throughout
the narrative as another signifier that the protagonist is in her ‘dream’ state. Lauren
will find the shell in her reality and uses it as a of transporting herself into her
fantasies. It suggests that by finding this object, her imagination is able to come alive
and come up with these dreams to allow her escape from her mundane reality.
5. Fairy Tale Book
We used the fairy tale book as another way of transporting Lauren into the dream. The
use of Alice in Wonderland links to the magical dream she’s about to enter through
the forest in Lauren’s dream, being her own ‘Wonderland’.
