1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms
and conventions of real media products?

2. The title of the film
The title of the film is ‘STALKER’. This allows the audience
to easily get the idea of the movie revolving around a
stalker type character. It is shown at the end to make clear
to the audience and overall sum up what happened in the
opening. The title is zoomed into after the film opening,
with accompanying suspenseful music. It gives it an eeerie
vibe.
3. location
Our film opening incorporates both indoor and outdoor
locations. Most of the key locations was outside such as the
outside of the school building, roads, alleyways and plain
fields. This is the whole chasing was happening between AKib
and the Stalker. Isolated areas such as fields are common
places for people to get killed or abducted. This is emulated
with our stalker killing Akib in the field.
4. Costumes and props
Akib is the sixth form student and this is easily
recognizable to the audience through his clothing. He is
wearing a shirt, tie and smart trousers. He also has two bags
accompanying him. This helps create pity for the character as
he is a student. On the other hand, it contrastes with the
stalker wearing a black hoodie, black trousers and a mask. We
wanted to conceal his identity and make him seem somewhat
disturbed and creepy. Resulting in the audience being scared
when seeing onscreen.
5. Camerawork and editing
On whole, all the footage recorded was still and not wobbly.
THis was ensured with the use of a tripod and repeat shots if
cases of shaking were seen. We mainly used a straight cut as
our main transition. We also used many pan movements to show
the audience what the character is seeing as their seeing it.
6. Title, font and style
The same font and style was used consistently throughout the
film opening. The titles only appear for a few seconds and
are mostly on either sides of the screen to avoid distracting
the audience. They fonts are glowing, bold and in capitals.
We were emulating horror films with similar films.
7. story
The narrative of the opening is quite simple and linear in
nature. It allows the audience to easily understand it as
this is quite a common trope in horror films. It is a stalker
going around and fidning people to kill. This is seen in our
film opening with the student at the start finfishing
enrichment and going home when suddenly a stalker comes and
starts chasing him and then killing him. This creates
sympathy for the character. The audinece also wants to know
who the stalker is and his moties behind his actions.
8. Genre
The main genre of our film is horror. However, it does
incorporate thriller elements. The horror conventions are
clear in the opening as it creates an eerie atmosphere for
the audience. This makes it uncomfortable for them.
9. Introducing characters
The main character, Akib, was quietly introduced reading a
book. He’s presented to be a typical student just finishing
the school day. The antagonist is later shown when Akib is
walking home. He is seen from a distance standing still on
the same pathway AKib is walking on. He is shown from behind
to make him seem mysterious and create a sense of suspense
for the audience.
