2. This is an album cover advert which has
been used in a magazine for Florence and the
machine. It is very clear to any one who is a fan of
her and her music that this is an advertisement for
her new album. However, it is also very prominent
for those who are not original fans of hers. There is
a graphic on the poster taking up the majority of
the page; this graphic is of Florence looking away
from the camera adding an element of innocence
to the image. The image also looks as if she is
sleeping, which emphasizes the grace of the
image.
Other than the large graphic, there are
also elements which advertise this music album.
For example the text at the top of the album, not
only says “Florence + the machine”, but it also says
“The XX”. Therefore for anyone who has not heard
of Florence and the machine, but is a fan of the xx
will be enticed to buy the album.
Extra information has been displayed at
the bottom, as not only is this an advertisement for
an album; but it also states how she will be in
theatre for people wanting to see her live.
3. This album cover advertisement which
has been used in a magazine is for the artist Lana
Del Rey. This full bleed image takes up the whole
of the page with extras on top of her. As Lana Del
Rey is a very iconic and distinctive figure it is
more likely she will have more fans attracted to
the album purely from seeing her present.
The image which has been used as the
main statement on the advert, has Lana Del Rey
directly addressing the audience as she is looking
into the camera lens. Unlike the other advert I
looked at this one shows Lana Del Rey as a more
confident figure and she is portrayed as a role
model and someone to look up upon form the
angle of the camera when taking the picture.
As the name of Lana Del Rey is larger
and more prominent than the album cover, it
suggests that her image is more important and
well known rather than the album name.
Finally the little details at the bottom of
the advertisement gives the audience all the
information they need if interested in the album.
4. The final album cover magazine advert
I'm going to be analysing is one by Drake. This is
a different album cover advert as the image has a
unique setting. The previous albums I analysed
had very basic backgrounds or unrealistic
backgrounds, whereas this setting has a homely
feel which the audience would be able to relate to
and have a connection with. This sense of
familiarity could help to attract an audience. To
add too that the fact that in the image Drake is
looking deep in thought and as if the camera has
caught him rather than him posing gives off the
type of vibe the album has.
Again, this advert is not only promoting
the album but the “club paradise tour”. This
advertisement has other names included in it
(Kendrick Lamar, ASAP Rocky). Similar to the
Florence and the machine advertisement, this will
help to attract different types of audiences even if
they are not initial fans of Drake himself.
Finally in the bottom right hand corner
there is another advertisement for his “take care”
album that is soon to be out, which will let his
fans know to keep an eye out for it.
