Dial-up ISDN DSL Cable
The four Internet connections are as follows
 Wired
◦ Dial-up
 Use a telephone line to connect to the Internet.(Use Analog Signals)
◦ Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN)
 Use a telephone line to connect to the Internet and functions like a dial-up
connection.(use Digital signals)
◦ Digital Subscriber Line (DSL)
 Use a high speed DSL modem for analog to digital and digital to analog conversion
◦ Cable
 Use a cable TV line and cable modem
 Use a coaxial cable that have grater bandwidth than telephone cables

 Wireless
o Make use of radio frequency bands to the Internet
o Require the device to be equipped with a Wi-Fi Adaptor
 Mobile
o Is similar to wireless connection
o Uses radio frequency to connect to the internet
o Use a mobile device such as PC data card or a Universal Serial Bus (USB) modem to
connect to the internet
 Satellite
o Allows user to access the internet geostationary satellite
o Use a satellite to act as reflectors

 A web browser run on the computer and helps us to access
and retrieve information from the internet
 Information available on the internet is written in Hyper Text
Markup Language (HTML) code
 The web browser converts the HTML code into a format which
is understandable by user
 Information retrieved from the internet is displayed in a web
page
 This web page is identified by the address which is called
Uniform Resource Locator (URL)
 To access the particular page users must enter the URL of
web page

Some of web browsers are as follows
◦ Windows Internet Explorer
◦ Mozilla Firefox
◦ Google chrome
◦ Netscape Navigator
◦ Apple Safari

8 operating system and is the default browser
Features of IE10
◦ Tabs are more transparent as compared to earlier versions
◦ Scroll bar updated in IE10 to match windows 8 theme
◦ In the address bar Stop and Refresh button have been combined

 It is an open source and one of the popular web
browser
 It runs on the various operating systems including
Microsoft windows, GNU/Linux, and Mac OS X
 Latest version of Mozilla Firefox is 55.0
