internship at her godfather's pharmacy in Europe. She fell in love with the idea of learning
everything there was to know about available medicines at the time and how they helped
patients treat their conditions. This passion led her to pursue a career in pharmaceuticals and
biotechnology.

become a classical piano performer. Her husband, Brian, is an accomplished professor at Union
College with a recently highly acclaimed book on Burkina Faso's assassinated leader, Thomas
Sankara.
The family's pastime is skiing, which she loves. Inspired by her autistic son, who had tried skiing
for several years and took to it immediately, Angeliki, who had never seen snow in her native
Greece, decided to join him, and a family passion was born. The family moved from the
metropolitan New York City area to Wynantskill, NY, to devote more time to the slopes. She has
skied almost all major East Coast runs and loves skiing in the Adirondacks.
Reaching Out to Her Native Country
When Greece took in thousands of refugees during the Syrian civil war, Angeliki Cooney and
