1. HOW DID YOU USE MEDIA
TECHNOLOGIES IN THE CONSTRUCTION
AND RESEARCH, PLANNING AND
EVALUATION STAGES?
Question 4
2. Websites:The media technology I had used was a blog site
known as ‘blogger’, this allowed me to present my
coursework including my research and planning
towards the documentary and the ancillary tasks.
I published my work through using Slideshare and
Prezi. Slideshare enabled me to upload powerpoints
and word documents to the internet and Prezi allowed
me to create presentations using a variety of templates
that are provided on the website. It provided me with
inserting images, screenshots and videos. These two
technologies were the most used websites to present
my work.
3. More Websites:
There were two other media technologies that I
had used to present my coursework and was voki
and soundclound. Voki had allowed me to
produce a virtual tool that would talk to you
about what I have written. It should be related to
my work. Soundcloud was used to listen
associating my research. I had also used
PowToon which is another presentation website
similar to Prezi. As for my planning, one website
I did use that was incredibly helpful was
‘storyboardthat.com’. I am glad I used this as it
saved me from drawing the storyboard which is
not my favourite thing to do. I thoroughly
enjoyed using this site as it allowed me to
become creative. I had also used videos to
explain the tasks that were later uploaded to my
blog. This had helped me to with my filming
skills.
4. Photoshop / InDesign:
My ancillary tasks consist of the advert and the double
page spread. I created the advert on Photoshop, allowing
me to add text to the main image. I had make sure that all
text was central, by doing this I had used the grid to line
everything with the same width either line of the text.
InDesign was what I had used for the layout of double
page spread. This helped me to choose where to put the
main body, images and also the masthead and subheading.
However, I had used Photoshop to edit the images, the
masthead and the subheading.
5. iMovie:
To create my documentary, I
had used a video-editing
software known as iMovie.
Which allowed me to use
different transitions, place
footage in chronical order
and add text to the moving
image. I had enjoyed playing
around with the software.
6. Technological Equipment:
The equipment I had used throughout producing my documentary were mainly a camera and an apple mac
computer. The camera had allowed me to capture the footage used in my documentary and also capture the
photographs used in my ancillary tasks. During the first scenes of the documentary, I had used a tripod which
allowed me have steady footage that didn’t shake due to holding the camera. During some of the interviews, I
had used studio lights that helped with being able to see the person in the frame. I had also use a reflector that
allowed the light to bounce so that it looked neater whilst filming. I had used an Mac computer which had
allowed to me use the video editing software iMovie.
