1. In what ways does your media
product use, develop or
challange forms and
conventions of real media
products?
2. Music video; Use;
For my music video I have used the
generic long/ wide shots for dance
videos.
I have aslo used the typical
black and white grading.
I have also used simple
mise-en-scene and
costume as is seen in most
dance videos.
3. Music video; Challange;
For my music video I challanged the generic
codes and conventions of generic music
videos by not using many close ups. Infact
the artist is not in the video at all this goes
record company expectations.
I have also challanged the codes and
conventions but not having the artist in
the video which has resulted in no
evidence of them playing the music or
lip synicing. These are both prominent
features generic to my genre.
I have used a ghostly after effect on
the video which I created in post-
production. This challanges generic
music videos as I have never seen this
all the way through a video only in
small sections. However the post-
production does relate to Goodwin's
theory that the visuals relate to the
lyrics.
4. Music video; Develop;
For my music video I have developed
Andrew Goodwin's theory that the
visuals should relate to the lyrics of
the song. I have done this by instead
of using acting/ performance I have
used a dance routine that matches
the lyrics. This is not usually seen
because the artist is usually in the
video and instead I have used a
dancer who is nothing to with the
band. The fact I have used a female
though links with the video because
it links to the lyrics of destorying an
angel
"Ripped jeans, skin was showing"
6. Ancillary products; Use;
I have used a barcode as all
other digipaks would have.
The album name is on the
front of the digipak.
There is a house style
flowing throughout the
ancillary products and the
music video. The house
style includes similar
images, colours and fonts.
On my advert I have links
to the bands social
network pages. This is now
the norm as mobile
networking has grown.
The digipak is a generic
layout for a 3 pannel
digipak.
On the advert I have
included the date of realse
so that my consumers will
know when it is avalible.
7. Ancillary products; Challange;
I have not included the
artist name on the digipak
or advert this goes against
the codes and conventions
of normal, real life
products as it is normally
the artists name and
reputation that sells the
product.
There are no images of the
artist. This goes against the
codes and conventions as
the bands iconography is
usually what sells the
products.
There is no pull quotes or
song features on the
advert this is usually a
prominent feature as
record labels normally rely
on recomendations and
the company recomending
them's reputation and
customer loyalty.
The advert does not have
an image of the Digipak on
it this goes against the
codes and conventions
because having an image
usually helps to sell the
album but instead I am
relying on the house style.
8. Ancillary products; Develop;
There is a house style
throughtout both my
ancillary products and
music video. This is a
generic convention of
music products but I have
developed this idea by
using on black and white.
