similar goals but, they differ in which role the physician has in the action that finally ends life. Euthanasia can be defined as "the act of bringing about
the death of a hopelessly ill and suffering person in a relatively quick and painless way for reasons of mercy" ("Physician–Assisted Suicide –
Introduction," n.d.). Thus meaning that during euthanasia the physician performs the intervention by either injecting the patient with a large dose of
medication, or completely withholding or withdrawing treatment that is necessary to maintain life("Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide ," 2014).
Physician–assisted suicide can be defined as "the practice of providing a competent patient with a prescription for medication for the patient to use with
the primary intention of ending his or her own life" ("Physician–assisted Suicide," 2012). This means that the physician provides the necessary means
or information to complete the intervention but the patient performs the act themselves ("Physician–Assisted Suicide – Introduction," n.d.).

Nowell–Smith looks at moral right based and utilitarian theories. The right of not to be killed can be argued against by the right to want to end
living. He provides an example of euthanasia societies where a lot of older people who still enjoy live just have a desire to have an opportunity to
end their lives the way they want to. The fear of being helpless and slowly dying in the institutions drives these people to join these societies and ask
for a law to be changed. Nowell–Smith also makes an argument against Law Reform Commission of Canada's report Euthanasia, Suicide and Cessation
of Treatment that suggests that euthanasia laws should not be changed. One of the arguments is that it may go out of control and could lead to serious

The Right to die, also known as Euthanasia, refers to various issues related to the decision of whether an individual should be allowed to choose to
die when the other option is for him or her to continue living with the aid of life support, or in a diminished or handicapped state. It also refers to the
idea that a person with a terminal illness should be allowed to commit suicide before death occurs or should have the right to refuse to have his or her
life extended by artificial or heroic means. Such actions may be done by withdrawing feeding tubes and other artificial means of life support from a
terminally ill person. The concept of the right to die is often referred to as dying with dignity. Therefore, when a patient is forced to undergo any sort
of serious treatment, any decision regarding their care can be revealed ahead of time by executing a living will or a Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) order.

Every year as we grow older, the thought of our death constantly looms over us. We think of how we might die or when we will die. As we see the
people we love around us begin to diminish, there is one situation that we all come across, the situation in which a beloved is stuck in a hospital bed,

Death is always a sensitive subject to talk about. That we are all going to one day die is
certain. What is unknown is the condition under which it is going to happen. The process of
dying is never easy, neither for the individual that is on his or her last stage of live, nor for the
family and friends that have to watch someone they love going away. Although we all wish to
have a peaceful and painless goodbye, it is not always the way it happens. Once diagnosed with a
terminal disease, many patients wish they could have the autonomy to end their lives at a time of
their own choosing, before pain becomes unbearable. Euthanasia is a controversial subject. It

even more controversies when it comes to euthanasia and assisted suicide. There are those who believe euthanasia is immoral regardless of the
situation, it is illegal and therefore always wrong. But most people have never been in a situation where they have to make that decision. What if a
loved one is suffering from immense pain and has no hope of recovery? Or what if you are who needs the assistance? You have a few days until your

euthanasia. The church taught its followers that euthanasia not only injured individual people and their communities, but also violated God's authority

Euthanasia, known for being the practice of deliberately ending a life, is usually performed to relieve an individual from incurable diseases or
suffering (Methods of Euthanasia). Present incurable diseases can make life intolerable, take away the enjoyment of life, and make a life not worth
living. Even with modern advances in medicine, there are some cases where pain can only be reduced, and a patient must endure this pain until they
pass on. In these extreme conditions there is no reason a patient should be forced to endure that pain, while someone also has to pay their medical bills.
The issue of euthanasia is an important one, because it affects almost everyone. Most people will either have an incurable disease themselves, or know
someone who does in their lifetime. For the last twenty years, euthanasia has been a subject of much controversy. There has been much debate among
both politicians and doctors, but not much progress has been made. Countries tend to take opposing sides and either allow or prohibit euthanasia, but
