Political And Social Involvement Of Public Opinion On...
Political and social involvement is among the most discussed issues nowadays, since the
considerable influence of public opinion on government policy is unquestionable. It is obvious that
political participation directly affects our lives. The range of attitudes toward controversial aspects
of politics, economics, religion, and so on is too broad in American society. In this regard, public
opinion research becomes extremely important. It helps us better understand citizens ' expectations,
to assess the impact of public opinion on government decision–making, and, thus, to forecast the
possible future events that may play crucial role in the development of society. The aim of this
assignment is to interview people from different demographic groups and to analyze their various
points of view on social and political issues. I asked 23 people to take my survey. For this purpose, I
mostly used the questions from a quiz of the Pew Research Center. However, I added a few more
questions to my questionnaire. It seemed reasonable because it provided a deeper understanding of
such important issues as the cost of liberty, the guarantee of safety and security of all members of
the society, invasion of privacy, and limitations on freedom of speech and expression. Though in
general, my questionnaire covers a wide range of themes, the questions can be divided into three
main categories: 1. Support of the government by the citizens 2. Civil liberties and safety 3.

Government Involvement In College Sports
Federal and state governments should stay on the bench when it comes to funding professional and
collegiate sports. The costs of becoming a player in the game would greatly outweigh any benefits
government involvement would bring. Furthermore, using federal or state money to subsidize and
incentivize sports would not stop at giving teams additional capital; such funding opens the door for
government involvement in the sports themselves. Imagine the government wanting a say in
important decisions like rule changes or coach and player signings. Bryce Harper of the Washington
Nationals would certainly not get the $500 million–dollar payday he is expected to be receive if the
government had any say! Even if the government was willing to pay ... Show more content on

The military is a great example of a government program that returns a greater benefit than the
funding of sports would. The support of the military is what allows the community to enjoy
professional and collegiate sports. Ensuring the military has the financial support it needs and even
paying the military members more for their service enforces the privilege of sports. Increased staff
of police and firefighters would benefit at the community level. The recent barrage of gun violence
warrants the need for increased regulation via police and fire. Restricting funding or not providing
more funds to the beforementioned programs or others like healthcare, education, transportation,
and community centers to support sports would switch a focus on community that promotes health
and safety to one that promotes entertainment. In addition, there is not a great return on investment
for the government to subsidize and incentivize sports. Per Forbes, the most profitable sports league,
the NFL, had its teams earn an average net profit of $91 million in 2016 before taxes and interest.
Many of these teams are billion–dollar franchises. To get any profit out of the income, the
government would have to invest a significant amount of money – likely more than they would get
back. Besides any financial benefits, there are virtually no other benefits that the government could

Government Involvement: Federal Election Day
Government Involvement The idea of making voting day a federal holiday is not necessarily new. In
fact, on November 7, 2014, Senator Bernie Sanders introduced a Bill to make election day a holiday.
The name of Sanders' bill was the Democracy Day Act. "Election day should be a national holiday
so that everyone has the time and opportunity to vote," Sanders said in a press release announcing
the Democracy Day Act. "While this would not be a cure–all, it would indicate a national
commitment to create a more vibrant democracy." The Act proposed that it would amend the U.S.
code to include "Federal Election Day, the Tuesday next after the first Monday in November in each
even–numbered year," The legislation is also part of a package of proposals

9/11 Conspiracy Theory: Government Intervention and...
The official story of 9/11 is a conspiracy theory in that the government claims 19 hijackers
conspired together to hijack four planes and create terror in the world. Four American airplanes
were hijacked; two were driven into the World Trade Centers and the third airplane into the
Pentagon. The fourth airplane suspected target was the White House, but it was diverted by the
brave men and women aboard that hijacked airplane, and crashed the airline jet before it could reach
its target. It was like time stood still as America watched through television broadcast these
unbelievable and horrifying events taking place. The reports told of the smell the jet fuel, burning
flesh, and people jumping out windows to their death to escape the flames. ... Show more content on

There are specific time lines of events that took place leading up to September 11, which will show
the US possible involvement and their non–intervention. When the US was warned about the
possibility of a terrorist attack on US soil, why was the threat not taken seriously? Some of the
lower grade official (CIA), took the threat to be very seriously, but were told to dismiss the
warnings, by top their superiors. September 10, 2001, a number of the Pentagon's top brass suddenly
cancel travel plans for the next morning, apparently because of security concerns. The airlines
security system was not up graded to possible terrorists attack alert. "The (WTC) collapse appeared
to be similar to a controlled demolition" (Thomas, 07/08/2011). Many speculated that the towers
were in fact blown down with explosives placed in selected locations. Some witnesses accounted
hearing explosions inside the building as they attempted to escape the building. Many architects and
scientists maintain that jet fuel cannot produce enough heat to melt the steel frame of the two
buildings. There were no planes to hit building 7 of the trade center, but it was demolished in the
same fashion as the twin towers were. Data from 32 damaged (WTC) computers showed a surge of
financial transaction shortly before the attack. Illegal transfer over 1 million dollars were made
immediately before and during the 9/11 disaster. Marvin P. Bush, the younger brother

Government Involvement In Healthcare Delivery
The origins of government involvement in the healthcare delivery in the United States dates all the
way back to the 1800s. It was Abraham Lincoln who set the stage for the Food and Drug
Administration which is the organization that maintains the purity of food and the safety of all
medications. In 1887 the federal government opened a one–room laboratory to research disease and
the first communicable disease center was opened in 1946. The polio vaccination was licensed in
1955 and the major milestone related to the government involvement in healthcare was the
availability of healthcare to millions through Medicare and Medicaid in 1965. These organizations
mandated nutrition labels, free immunization to all children in low–income families and ... Show

There has been many advances in technology which enables care to be delivered through more non–
invasive procedures and the administering of drugs. This has allowed the management of care to ne
more portable. Flexibility is very important in the delivery of care and it allows for treatment to take
place in many different t areas and not just the traditional hospitals. Those areas include ambulatory
settings, doctor exam rooms and even in the comfort of the patient's home. The methods for
financing health through health insurance is changing and will cause changes in the provider
system. Among providers there has been a growth of new organizational forms and new operating
principles. These changes have led to the growth in the size of physicians groups and has caused

What are the American government's involvements and influences in the Internet compare to

Thesis:
The United States' government had played the most important role of developing Internet, and did a
great contribution certainly. However, Chinese government had a very different attitudes with
American government for Internet at last century when Internet started developing because of some
domestic factors. Later, Chinese government changed its attitudes and behaviors. The Internet began
developing so fast and played more and more important roles in both countries, but with many

Say In Education
Who should have a say in education and why ? Critically examine the argument from two
presepctives ( State V/S Parents )
In this assignment I will be examining different argument for why parents should have more say in
education than the state and vice versa .Historically parents were solely responsible for their
children wellbeing and education . Times have changed and in todays society the state is heavily
involved in children education and this has brought about a lot of controversy.

The Need for Government Involvement and Regulation in a...
Explain why government regulation is needed, citing the major reasons for government involvement
in a market economy.
Government involvement in a market economy is necessary only when the industry is systemically
important to the overall functioning of the economy. These systemically important institutions, if
default occurs, could threaten the economic system of America. These industries, including energy
and banking require extensive government oversight in addition to intervention if needed. In many
instances, little government involvement is beneficial to the market economy as it allows
competitive forces to dictate operating results. The lack of government intervention, the private
sector can handle many of the problems that occur within the industry in a process known as
"creative destruction." If a large company defaults, then other private enterprise can better serve the
market with products that are demanded. This occurs primarily through a lack of government
intervention within the economy. For one, government involvement occasionally undermines the
competitive climate of industry. Capitalism is predicated on innovation and profit motives to drive
business results from a private perspective. Those who innovate should therefore be rewarded
accordingly. With government intervention, this incentive is dramatically abated as firms are
reluctant to innovate. However, in the case of systemically important institutions, government
oversight is indeed needed to insure

The Politics Of Health And Government Involvement
The Politics of Health and Government Involvement Politics is often personal. Values, attitudes,
environment and experiences play a prolific role on one's life. This is demonstrated when a major
decision has to be made that have an effect on the personal/private realm of life. So, when leaders
have to craft policy, those principles are typically weaved throughout the process. Nowhere is this
demonstrated more than when various administrations tackle a national healthcare plan. The United
States has been going in constant debate about suppling healthcare to the American people since the
New Deal Era. Both parties, when in control of the executive branch, have had major healthcare
legislation brought forth for various reasons until the PPACA. Yes, the road towards health care
reform has had many players but the initial player out of the gate was Franklin D. Roosevelt.
Known for contracting polio (poliomyelitis) at the age of 39 while on a family vacation, FDR has a
little of a back and forth relationship with the medical profession. This attitude is more than likely
originated from his botched treatments in the early stages of his disease. Primary of which, he was
misdiagnosed multiple times by a then renowned doctor, W.W. Keen, and was charged $8000.00 for
his "service". In today's dollars, that would be about $81,000. It is also well documented that FDR,
despite a litany of medical experts at the time telling him nay, he spearhead his own therapy and

The most recent example occurred with the financial crisis of 2008. In this particular instance,
government intervention was needed to insure the stability and confidence within the market
economy. As confidence in the market declines, so too does the prevalence of capital. Overly
pessimistic views of a market economy can cripple much need liquidity in the system. As a result,
government involvement is needed to instill confidence within the overall system. In regards to the
banking industry example, capital requirements have been implemented by government to insure the
safety and viability of the market economy as a whole.
Capital Requirement is by the most basic definition the amount of

The Political Spectrum Analysis
The political spectrum is based off of a number line called a continuum that has five categories in
which people may identify themselves as. The two most contributing factors to identifying where
you stand is the amount of change that you are willing to experience within society and how much
government involvement you would like to take place. On the far left are the Radicals. If someone
labels themself as a radical due to being on the farthest left hand side of the political spectrum they
would want rapid change. They may even act out violently to get their point across. Next working
toward the right hand side are the Liberals. The political party of the Liberals is the Democratic
party. Being labeled as a Liberal means you tend to support more government involvement. You
would believe in gradual change when speaking of the political system itself. In ... Show more

The Canadian Government actually has a significant connecting between the US and Cuba
regarding the US and Cuban relations. Since the 1960's, Canada has been having "secret talks"
between the two countries (US and Cuba). These talks were held after the U.S. and Cuba
approached Canada seeking help in hosting the discussions. In more recent news, a Canadian
government official said that Canada facilitated seven meetings in Ottawa and Toronto over the past
18 months. Stephen Harper quoted, "We facilitated places where the two countries could have a
dialogue and explore ways of normalizing the relationship," "We were just trying to make sure that
they had the opportunity to have the kind of dialogue they needed to have." News of Canada's

Canadian companies have committed with business in Cuba, and it was successful. It is a relief due
to the fact that Canada did not have to compete with U.S. counterparts. Two–way trade amounts
come up to more than $1 billion each year, while Canadian companies still have a sizeable presence
in the island country's mining, oil and gas, agricultural and tourism industries. But Canada might not
have had any role at all if it weren't for its unique relationship with the two adversaries, particularly

Government Involvement Of The Civil Aircraft
Government Involvement: The United States government does not actively help any companies
compete in world markets. However, legislature has indirectly helped civil aircraft manufacturers.
Many domestic civil aircraft manufactures are also large contributors to military aircraft production
and share resources between the two tasks. Personnel, facilities, and resources necessary for both
types of production are largely the same. Manufacturers often devote resources to civil aircraft when
military contracts are low in supply. Civil aircraft is one of the largest exporting industries of the US
and contributes a trade surplus. Therefore, it is in the best interests of the US to aid companies that
manufacture civil aircraft. US legislation in airline regulation, airspace traffic control, and safety
monitoring are aimed to facilitate air transportation. These measures indirectly aid aircraft
manufacturers by increasing the popularity of commercial air travel and the demand for passenger
airliners. Government subsidies in defence manufactures that also manufacture civil aircraft, in air–
transported mail, and in airports also either directly or indirectly aid aircraft manufacturers.
Occasionally, the US will directly subsidize research programs and production plants in civil
aerospace firms. Boeing's civil aircraft division is the winner of the most local and state subsidies.

Post Voting Obligation
The Obligation of Post–Voting The United States does not follow a direct democracy–rather than
voting on laws directly, the people vote their representative, including the president, the senate, and
the house of representatives, into power and allow them to create and vote on laws. The people of
the United States are not limited by this voting, however. Rather, this is only the beginning of their
process.
The goal of any politician is to get reelected, and in order to do so, they must follow the directives
of the majority of people. This allows the people to keep the government in constant check, along
with the checks and balances present in government. Thus, voting is more than merely a citizen's

Government Involvement in Nutrition is the Key to Stopping Obesity
A person's eating habits are set from school age and affect their health and development as an adult.
The Nutrition standards in many schools are not up to par with current standards, resulting in
children not being able to consume the amount of daily nutrition they need. This dilemma has led to
an increase in school–age obesity. Due to the prevalence of obesity in school–age children in the
United States, the federal government should increase its involvement in nutrition in schools and
have better mandates. The reason there is a lack of involvement from the government and strict
mandates is that according to Michelle Obama" many folks just didn't think childhood obesity was a
serious issue" (Holecko). People"didn't want to go anywhere near it, because it seemed like an
impossible problem" (Holecko). According to the "Trends in Obesity Prevalence among youth aged
2–19 years: United States 1999–2000 through 2013–2014" chart, there has been a steady increase in
obesity in children ages 2–19. From the years 2009–2014, the percent of kids who are obese has
increased from 16.9 to 17.2%. This trend is influenced by the lack of involvement of the
government in nutrition standards most of which are outdated and underfunded. Certain nutrition
standards are set to require schools to offer healthy foods such as fruits, vegetables, protein, and fat–

Advantages Of Referendum In Political System
Introduction
A referendum is considered as a direct vote in which broad–spectrum people entitled to vote, are
asked to vote on a specific proposal. This may consequence in the acceptance of a law, a new
constitution and a constitutional amendment. It is also distinct as the "plebiscite" in many other
countries because populace in the country prefers diverse kinds of votes fluctuating in their legal
outcomes. Referendum often offers two choices to a voter that is; either to accept or reject a
proposal, but this cannot be the case. Until that time, referendum controversial problems like
whether to join the EEC or not have endangered to break party loyalty into two parts. This essay

some type of political involvement. The chapter by Milakovich outlines the overarching purpose for

despite the neutral stance that politicians, interest groups and history has told them to have. It is
apparent that for the legitimacy of these agencies and administrators' political involvement is
necessary. The political involvement of bureaucratic administrators can boost their reputation with
the public. Moreover, it can also impact the relationship that the people of society have with the
government itself. The more involvement these agencies and administrators have within the political

to life and the banks would lower interest rates, even possibly give out "free loaned money."
Obviously, this would be temporary, but it could definitely affect the economy in a superb way.
Once a turn around in the housing sector begins and demands for housing increases, then interest
rates could slowly start going back up to ideal bank loaning conditions. If banks understood that
they would make money in coming years, without losing money in the present, why not follow this
path? This is a possible idea for all homebuyers in the middle and lower class. If a foreclosure is on
someone's record and the foreclosure happened during the recession, it would be especially great for
him or her. The banks would see that buyer's difficulty and in order to keep the client, interest rates
would remain low for a longer period. If the foreclosure happened before, then that person would be
treated like every other buyer. Another idea is giving a tax credit to all buyers during the entire span
of the recession. If a buyer knows there will be a tax credit, but only for a few years maximum (until
the end of the recession), the buyer might rush to get into his or her house. No one knows how long
a recession will happen, so people would want to buy as quickly as the sell, especially when they

The Role Of Government Involvement In The Gilded Age
The Beginning of The End?
The government should not be involved in the economy because too much government involvement
can lead to a socialism and eventually communism. As in the Gilded Age many people lived in the
absolute worse conditions. Such as working, payment, housing and just the area was horrible. Today
still some on this happens here in America but mostly in other areas of the world. As history can tell
you socialism and communism never works out for the government or the people. Furthermore too
much government involvement could lead to people depending on the government for money
instead of getting a job. This is very true today for people who get health care and other things. They
think that they can take more and more money ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the biggest problems with some sort of a government is that they tend to spend the money on
things that would not benefit their country. As in the Gilded Age many people were incredibly poor
or filthy rich. Many of the rich people were in the government such as the president. When this
occurs it means that the government is hoarding the money of themselves and not helping the
people. It's the same thing today in America and especially other countries who starve their people.
The government is truly no help to us. We could handle ourselves perfectly fine the way we are
going. But the way the government keep spending when there is no money at all left is crazy. The
current debt of America is over $17.9 trillion would this take more than 398 million years of
working at the average wage to pay off. Which is insane for anyone to do. This started in the Gilded
Age all the way up to now.
Some people think that the government should be somewhat involved in the economy. People on
this side think that the government should regulate certain things in the economy like distribution of
wealth and food production. This form of economy these people are suggesting is a form of
socialism which has failed multiple

Government Involvement In Agricultural Affairs In The 1930's
Prior to the 1930s, government involvement in agricultural affairs was practically nonexistent. Some
measures aimed at protecting farmers were proposed in earlier years, but were largely blocked by
Congress, various presidents and the Supreme Court. For about 140 years after the birth of the U.S.,
there was no precedent for a government role in American agriculture. This standard was broken
during the course of the presidencies of Herbert Hoover and Franklin D. Roosevelt. During these
administrations, certain initiatives were authorized in order to help U.S. agriculture and farmers
recuperate after suffering the consequences of the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl. During the
Great Depression, the prices of crops fell, so farmers began to

Government Involvement In The French Revolution
In the source presented, the speaker is arguing that a government needs to be involved in a society in
order to benefit all individuals. The speaker is trying to explain that disadvantaged members in
society are not helped when society is driven by the self–interests of the rich. When a society is
governed by the self interests of the rich, the poor often get ignored as the rich get caught up in the
accumulation of wealth and self–interests that they do not see the disadvantaged members of
society. This source is also talking about the effectiveness of a society when the poor are
overlooked. When a government does not try to help the poor, they keep a substantial amount of
individuals out of the economy as they are burdened by poverty. This ... Show more content on

This way of governing opposes the sources opinions. The French Revolution was a revolt against
King Louis XVI, this revolt was inspired by economic downfall, increasing social inequality and
huge national debt. At the time, there was a severe class difference between the first estate and the
third estate that presented a big economic imbalance. In the years leading up to the French
Revolution there was severe famine, increasing debt from spending money on numerous wars, and
economic issues that originated from the misuse of wealth. To increase the severity of the situation,
King Louis XVI had a taxation system that went against the source. Instead of taxing the upper
class, King Louis XVI placed an enormous amount of tax on the middle to lower class, this heavy
taxation was to support the self interests of the higher class and to allow them to retain their wealth.
In return, this created an even bigger divide between classes economically and, essentially, made the
poor poorer and the rich richer. Ultimately, this led to the lower class revolting against the Upper
class. Therefore, initiating the French Revolution. This directly goes against the source as the
individuals in power were focusing on the self interest of the rich and the accumulation of wealth.
Instead of trying help the disadvantaged members come out of their financial problems, King Louis
XVI was making it impossible to do so. In this example, the state/person in power was not taking an
active role to serve the greater good. The source shows that government involvement in a society is
vital for it to be run peacefully as well as successfully. A government needs to ensure that
disadvantaged members of the society are being looked

Why Should Government Intervene In Free Market
It is highly debated that the government should not intervene in free market in economics. Some
people support government's interference because that is how the economy should be existing.
Others, however, firmly believe that the market itself has the ability to get out of the recession
without any government's involvement. I strongly believe that the government should not be
allowed to intervene in our economy. Government involvement in the free market will simply cause
more problems than it will solve. On one hand, people who support government's involvement have
the following arguments. According to Geoff Riley, policy intervention from the government could
help adjust some problems that occurred in the market, balance the income between the poor and ...

In the article "Why Governments Intervene In Market", the author agreed with governments'
interference because of inequalities of resource ownership. Some companies owned the most
resources but others owned less, which could hurt the country's economy. In order to fight against
the problems, the government used regulation, taxation and subsidies. There are four reasons for the
government to intervene the economy. First, the government tries to improve social welfares. Such
as, (Deepen and strengthen "conditionality'', Encourage "Diversion", Introduce better "triage"at the
start of the welfare system, Identify people with severe problems earlier, and manage them better,
Widen conditionality further, Reform Housing Benefit and Social Housing).Without the
government's restriction, businesses can be combined together to build a strong monopoly.
Monoplying market would cause many negative problems such as unlimited rise of price and
occupying enormous resources. Second, the government

Minimum Wage: A Case Study
The appropriate role of government in market economy should be minimum. Government
regulations hinder economic growth. Personally, my economic views and ideas compare to Trump's
ideas. Trump published plans for large tax cuts, reducing regulations, and renegotiating trade
agreements. On the other hand, Clinton proposed policies detailing increased spending on job
training, community college education, infrastructure and clean energy. In addition, she advocated
for raising federal minimum wage, boosting women's workforce participation by improving paid
leave, and overhauling immigration laws. Although Clinton's plan sound beneficial to American
Economy at first glance, they are the exact opposite. Employers will simply try to not hire women,

Health care had been a popular topic during recent year in the United States. Different political
parties has different view on how much involvement the government should be in the health care
system. Some believe that government should be less involve to help the growth of private
businesses, while other think it is necessary that the government must take a greater role in the
health care system to help the poor. Coming from a middle class family, I understand how expensive
health insurance could be and not everyone can afford to have

Government Involvement With Climate Change
Climate change is an extremely debated subject. The video comes from the vantage point that it
exists and we are causing it. You can find just as many scientific people that support it as not
support it. Many scientists do not deny that these things are happening but the cause being from
humans is debated extensively. There is agreement on both sides that over this time period,
atmospheric levels of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4) have
notably increased. I think the video is presenting a very one–sided "consensus" and in science you
need facts. The facts presented are possibly skewed in relation to the cause. It is a natural process
for the planet to warm and cool and the effect that human–generated greenhouse gases are too small
to affect the planet in the way that climate change advocates portray. ... Show more content on

convincing, there are definitely two sides to this debate. There is a lot of political involvement with
climate change, I believe at this point to deny it is happening and humans are the cause is politically
incorrect. The government involvement encourages me to do more research, many times individuals
and the environment are not at the top of their list of concerns, as we have seen with many of the

Government Involvement Of Fiscal And Monetary Policies
CHAPTER ONE 1. INTRODUCTION 1.1 Background of the Study Governments make use of
different macroeconomic policy instruments such as fiscal and monetary policies to stabilize the
macro–economy and brig about growth to their respective countries. Yet there are debates on the
efficiency of each of these instruments. The extremity in the debate is to the level that some
economists arguing ineffectiveness of fiscal and monetary policies in all countries. There is another
group who regard them as important policy tools, while they agree that their effectiveness might
depend on different conditions in the economy. Fiscal policy is one of the commonly used
instruments for achieving the goals of growth and stability in the economy through enforcing
monitoring mechanisms. The components of fiscal policy include: government expenditure, tax, and
public debt (Permechand 1983). The contradicting arguments about effectiveness of fiscal policy
amendments or government involvement still continue in these sections too. Public expenditure is
the main instrument used by governments especially in developing countries to promote economic
growth which is an essential component for sustainable development (MOFED 2010). However,
composition of government expenditure has been attracting the attention of economists due to its
effects on the level of growth (Sharma B. 2012). Economic growth is expected to bring about a
better living standard for the people. Almost all sectors of the economy in

Democracy : A System Of Government
Jacqueline Mora
Elizabeth Olmos
English 101
Unit 2 Rough Draft
Democracy
Democracy is "a system of government in which power is vested in the people, who rule either
directly or through freely elected representatives". It is the way that the people have a say on how
they want the government to be ran. It gives citizen the voice and the right to speak up for change
and wants. Democracy is a governmental system to help those who are in greater need. Democracy
is ran by checks and balances because people are empowered to the same rights no one is higher or
lower than another. The voice of the people are heard versus of those few who have special interest.
The driving force behind democracy is for the people to have a say in what law is ... Show more

When in reality, we the people elect someone to represent us. Those elected by the people to
represent then make decisions based on what is best for the people. While they 're term is temporary,
their decisions in office often impact the nation for years to come. The United States is in between
pure democracy and republic, but it contains aspects of both.
Having a democracy, benefits the people by empowering individual practices, as Cornel West states,
how Emerson views were, "to be a democratic individual is to be flexible and build, rescissory and
reformational in one's dealings with fellow citizens and the world, not adhering to comfortable
dogmas or right party lines"(116–117). It is all about self–reliant upon your decisions and choices in
a democracy. Without this, a democracy would rely on the power and control of others. A new
democracy requires new outlooks, new visions, and mind sets for it to be successful. The
constituents of a nation get to chose what they want to see in their leader, and there are many
benefits from a democratic nation. The people force change through the involvement of the public,
and surrounding communities. This voluntary involvement shows that the people have power and
knowledge and deserve to be treated with such standards. Individual involvement is important as it
shapes the way we understand democracy today,

The Pros And Cons Of Direct Democracy In The United States
Direct democracy is a government in which the people decide. Direct democracy overall is a
positive thing, but as with everything, there can be some dangers. Direct democracy is a form of
democracy in which the people are able to vote and form consensus on policies directly. The people
have the power of recall, which gives the public the power to remove elected officials from office
before the end of their term if they do not feel they are doing a great job. California voters are also
able to help make laws by creating ballot propositions. Propositions are ideas voters have for new
laws or changes to the constitution. Direct democracy in California started in the early 1900's, when
many citizens in California were unhappy with the state government. The citizens then created a
system of initiatives and referendums. Initiative is a proposal for a new law and a referendum allows
the citizens to vote for or against a law that the state assembly has passed. ... Show more content on

Direct democracy is supposed to promote a cooperative community, people have the power to speak
for their opinions. It promotes civic involvement and a meaningful society where informed
decisions are not just made by the government but by the public as well. The citizens are able to
learn the important information they need in order to understand issues of the government and laws
that are implemented. In a direct democracy the people are able to feel that their voice matters and
that if the majority of the public is against a law or feels that a person in office is not living up to
what they said, they have the right to either fix the law or remove the person from office. This
feeling of a voice makes the public more willing to get involved and care about the

Government's Involvement Of Government Security
In this day and age the internet has become a big part of our lives. The internet is now a medium
that connects millions of different people across the world in the matter of seconds. However, the
vast sea of communication and information that comes along with the internet is not a safe place.
More and more often we hear of a security breach within a major company or leaked information,
from hackers. Many people are questioning whether or not the government should get involved and
regulate the internet. However, people don't realize that the government's involvement might
infringe on our constitutional rights by censorship of information, invading privacy and the
possibility of suppressing our freedom of speech

"Congress shall make no law abridging the freedom of speech." Those are the words of the first
amendment in our constitution and the law the government must follow.
U.S civilians run the risk of losing many rights with government regulating the internet. For
example privacy, many government requests has been sent to Google for information on their
consumers. In the Google transparency report, a U.S. law enforcement agency asked Google to take
down a blog that "allegedly defamed a law enforcement official in a personal capacity." The
company denied that request. Another separate and different law enforcement group asked Google
to take down one thousand four hundred videos on YouTube (Google owns YouTube) because of
"alleged harassment." Dorothy Chou, a Google analyst states, "It 's alarming not only because free
expression is at risk, but because some of these requests come from countries you might not suspect,
Western democracies not typically associated with censorship." The company did not oblige either
of those demands but as the report states, they did fulfil at least with forty– two percent of the
removal requests from the United States in 2011. That number compared to the past reports is very
low; in 2010, for example, Google said it complied with eighty–seven percent of U.S. requests to
take down content. In 2011, Google received six thousand three hundred and twenty one requests

Mao Zedong Analysis
Democratic elections give the citizens of a country an ability to have a necessary input on how their
government will operate. Citizens of Hong Kong have no input within their government because
their chief executive, Hong Kong's version of president, is not elected by universal suffrage. Instead,
since Hong Kong is under China's rule, China has a committee comprised of elites that appoint
Hong Kong's chief executive. However, China's promise for democracy can be dated back to the
1980s when it was declared in the Basic Law, "The ultimate aim is the selection of the chief
executive by universal suffrage..." (Ortman 3). This promise of universal suffrage has been broken
because of the Chinese government's inherited ideology, known as Marxist–Mao–Zedong, which
causes the desire to assert power without interference as well as the Chinese government's angst
over Hong Kong's potential to change the Chinese government towards pro–democracy; the effects
include the Umbrella Movement and Hong Kong's citizens anxiety over decreasing human rights.
The Chinese government has been against democracy ideals since the communist party rose to
power in 1949. China's communist party used Marxist–Mao–Zedong ideology, a document that
formed the basis of China's communism. Marxist–Mao–Zedong ideology has two key features that
still triumphs in modern China. Firstly, the power–holders in the government are superior to the law
and can do whatever they please without consequences. This was because

The Role Of Government Involvement In America During The...
During the Great Depression many called for reform to help them get out of this depression.
However, on the other hand most Americans thought this was too much government involvement in
the citizen's lives. There were many other reasons why people were opposed to reformation
including the New Deal and that it didn't do what it was supposed to do. Although numerous
Americans think that the New Deal was a good thing and it took us out of the Great Depression, but
what they don't realize is that World War II took us out of that mess therefore, the New Deal didn't
really do anything for our economy.
Most Americans thought that this was too much government involvement in the people's lives
because most people would rather be independent. Multiple families were upset with how this was
working out because it was expanding the government. When the government was expanding, it
took away from the farm families. Although it seems like nothing to take from the farm families,
when you take what seems like a little, it is a lot. Roosevelt felt that he was making positive
changes, however he was really only helping the white male farmers that owned property. These
farmers that he helped were in the corn belt which was where the drought was not hitting the worst

responsibility, which makes food deserts hazardous for health. In 2011, $25 million in grants were
given to community development institutions to create a plan that would increase access to healthier
foods. Another intervention sponsored by the government is the Thrift Food Plan (TFP) created by
the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). The TFP is a collection of affordable meal

Fixing food deserts is about more than just building grocery stores in low–income areas. There is
much more that can be done in communities to build a strong food system. It is challenging, nearly
impossible, to state the be intervention practices for food deserts. It is difficult to implement the
same intervention in all communities, because no two communities are exactly the same.
Nevertheless, interventions and policies of the past give other policy makers ideas for intervention
in their own neighborhoods; an intervention built on the community's

The Government Involvement Of T Shirt
In this assignment I get to learn about the two authors which is Thomas Frieden and Pietra Rivoli of
which the topic had to deal with globalization and what the government involvement consist of. In
frieden's case he talks about the government involvement in globalization during or after world war
II in globalization. Pietra Rivoli discusses about the t–shirt that people wear everyday but not
knowing the transformational factors hidden when making that t–shirt globally. The roles that
government play in the global work environment is that in today's world majority of businesses need
to register with a state government to function. Corporations need a charter, and other forms of
businesses, such as limited liability companies or partnerships, need other forms of registration. The
purpose of this registration is usually to define the financial accountability the owners of the
company have. It limits their risk to the amount they have invested in that particular organization.
Registration also allows the government to monitor companies to execute its other functions in the
business world. Businesses contract with other businesses globally. These contracts may be
complex, such as mergers, or they may be as simple as a warranty on supplies purchased. The
government enforces these contracts. Companies bring one another to court just as individuals do.
An oral agreement can establish a contract, but usually only a written agreement is verifiable. If one
party fails or refuses to

Social Responsibility Issues In The 1930's
One reason that there is so much government regulation involving social responsibility issues, is due
to the public putting pressure on them to do something about all the bad social conditions occurring
to people back in the 1930's. The government involvement prior to that was centered more on the
American business. People had to endure poor working conditions and low wages, without much
hope of things improving. There were no advocates for the working class. The change did not come
until pressure was put on the government to do something. The turning point came when Franklin
D. Roosevelt became president, and started to change the way a business was allowed to operate.
Once the government became involved, the conditions, wages, and fair

Political And Social Involvement Of Public Opinion On...

  • 1. Political And Social Involvement Of Public Opinion On... Political and social involvement is among the most discussed issues nowadays, since the considerable influence of public opinion on government policy is unquestionable. It is obvious that political participation directly affects our lives. The range of attitudes toward controversial aspects of politics, economics, religion, and so on is too broad in American society. In this regard, public opinion research becomes extremely important. It helps us better understand citizens ' expectations, to assess the impact of public opinion on government decision–making, and, thus, to forecast the possible future events that may play crucial role in the development of society. The aim of this assignment is to interview people from different demographic groups and to analyze their various points of view on social and political issues. I asked 23 people to take my survey. For this purpose, I mostly used the questions from a quiz of the Pew Research Center. However, I added a few more questions to my questionnaire. It seemed reasonable because it provided a deeper understanding of such important issues as the cost of liberty, the guarantee of safety and security of all members of the society, invasion of privacy, and limitations on freedom of speech and expression. Though in general, my questionnaire covers a wide range of themes, the questions can be divided into three main categories: 1. Support of the government by the citizens 2. Civil liberties and safety 3. Economic, cultural, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Government Involvement In College Sports Federal and state governments should stay on the bench when it comes to funding professional and collegiate sports. The costs of becoming a player in the game would greatly outweigh any benefits government involvement would bring. Furthermore, using federal or state money to subsidize and incentivize sports would not stop at giving teams additional capital; such funding opens the door for government involvement in the sports themselves. Imagine the government wanting a say in important decisions like rule changes or coach and player signings. Bryce Harper of the Washington Nationals would certainly not get the $500 million–dollar payday he is expected to be receive if the government had any say! Even if the government was willing to pay ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The military is a great example of a government program that returns a greater benefit than the funding of sports would. The support of the military is what allows the community to enjoy professional and collegiate sports. Ensuring the military has the financial support it needs and even paying the military members more for their service enforces the privilege of sports. Increased staff of police and firefighters would benefit at the community level. The recent barrage of gun violence warrants the need for increased regulation via police and fire. Restricting funding or not providing more funds to the beforementioned programs or others like healthcare, education, transportation, and community centers to support sports would switch a focus on community that promotes health and safety to one that promotes entertainment. In addition, there is not a great return on investment for the government to subsidize and incentivize sports. Per Forbes, the most profitable sports league, the NFL, had its teams earn an average net profit of $91 million in 2016 before taxes and interest. Many of these teams are billion–dollar franchises. To get any profit out of the income, the government would have to invest a significant amount of money – likely more than they would get back. Besides any financial benefits, there are virtually no other benefits that the government could ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Government Involvement: Federal Election Day Government Involvement The idea of making voting day a federal holiday is not necessarily new. In fact, on November 7, 2014, Senator Bernie Sanders introduced a Bill to make election day a holiday. The name of Sanders' bill was the Democracy Day Act. "Election day should be a national holiday so that everyone has the time and opportunity to vote," Sanders said in a press release announcing the Democracy Day Act. "While this would not be a cure–all, it would indicate a national commitment to create a more vibrant democracy." The Act proposed that it would amend the U.S. code to include "Federal Election Day, the Tuesday next after the first Monday in November in each even–numbered year," The legislation is also part of a package of proposals ... • 4. 9/11 Conspiracy Theory: Government Intervention and... The official story of 9/11 is a conspiracy theory in that the government claims 19 hijackers conspired together to hijack four planes and create terror in the world. Four American airplanes were hijacked; two were driven into the World Trade Centers and the third airplane into the Pentagon. The fourth airplane suspected target was the White House, but it was diverted by the brave men and women aboard that hijacked airplane, and crashed the airline jet before it could reach its target. It was like time stood still as America watched through television broadcast these unbelievable and horrifying events taking place. The reports told of the smell the jet fuel, burning flesh, and people jumping out windows to their death to escape the flames. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are specific time lines of events that took place leading up to September 11, which will show the US possible involvement and their non–intervention. When the US was warned about the possibility of a terrorist attack on US soil, why was the threat not taken seriously? Some of the lower grade official (CIA), took the threat to be very seriously, but were told to dismiss the warnings, by top their superiors. September 10, 2001, a number of the Pentagon's top brass suddenly cancel travel plans for the next morning, apparently because of security concerns. The airlines security system was not up graded to possible terrorists attack alert. "The (WTC) collapse appeared to be similar to a controlled demolition" (Thomas, 07/08/2011). Many speculated that the towers were in fact blown down with explosives placed in selected locations. Some witnesses accounted hearing explosions inside the building as they attempted to escape the building. Many architects and scientists maintain that jet fuel cannot produce enough heat to melt the steel frame of the two buildings. There were no planes to hit building 7 of the trade center, but it was demolished in the same fashion as the twin towers were. Data from 32 damaged (WTC) computers showed a surge of financial transaction shortly before the attack. It was Abraham Lincoln who set the stage for the Food and Drug Administration which is the organization that maintains the purity of food and the safety of all medications. In 1887 the federal government opened a one–room laboratory to research disease and the first communicable disease center was opened in 1946. The polio vaccination was licensed in 1955 and the major milestone related to the government involvement in healthcare was the availability of healthcare to millions through Medicare and Medicaid in 1965. Critically examine the argument from two presepctives ( State V/S Parents ) In this assignment I will be examining different argument for why parents should have more say in education than the state and vice versa .Historically parents were solely responsible for their children wellbeing and education . Times have changed and in todays society the state is heavily involved in children education and this has brought about a lot of controversy. • 8. The Need for Government Involvement and Regulation in a... Explain why government regulation is needed, citing the major reasons for government involvement in a market economy. Government involvement in a market economy is necessary only when the industry is systemically important to the overall functioning of the economy. These systemically important institutions, if default occurs, could threaten the economic system of America. These industries, including energy and banking require extensive government oversight in addition to intervention if needed. In many instances, little government involvement is beneficial to the market economy as it allows competitive forces to dictate operating results. The lack of government intervention, the private sector can handle many of the problems that occur within the industry in a process known as "creative destruction." If a large company defaults, then other private enterprise can better serve the market with products that are demanded. This occurs primarily through a lack of government intervention within the economy. For one, government involvement occasionally undermines the competitive climate of industry. Capitalism is predicated on innovation and profit motives to drive business results from a private perspective. Those who innovate should therefore be rewarded accordingly. With government intervention, this incentive is dramatically abated as firms are reluctant to innovate. • 9. The Politics Of Health And Government Involvement The Politics of Health and Government Involvement Politics is often personal. Values, attitudes, environment and experiences play a prolific role on one's life. This is demonstrated when a major decision has to be made that have an effect on the personal/private realm of life. So, when leaders have to craft policy, those principles are typically weaved throughout the process. Nowhere is this demonstrated more than when various administrations tackle a national healthcare plan. The United States has been going in constant debate about suppling healthcare to the American people since the New Deal Era. Both parties, when in control of the executive branch, have had major healthcare legislation brought forth for various reasons until the PPACA. Yes, the road towards health care reform has had many players but the initial player out of the gate was Franklin D. Roosevelt. Known for contracting polio (poliomyelitis) at the age of 39 while on a family vacation, FDR has a little of a back and forth relationship with the medical profession. This attitude is more than likely originated from his botched treatments in the early stages of his disease. Primary of which, he was misdiagnosed multiple times by a then renowned doctor, W.W. Keen, and was charged $8000.00 for his "service". In today's dollars, that would be about $81,000. It is also well documented that FDR, despite a litany of medical experts at the time telling him nay, he spearhead his own therapy and create a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this particular instance, government intervention was needed to insure the stability and confidence within the market economy. As confidence in the market declines, so too does the prevalence of capital. Overly pessimistic views of a market economy can cripple much need liquidity in the system. The two most contributing factors to identifying where you stand is the amount of change that you are willing to experience within society and how much government involvement you would like to take place. On the far left are the Radicals. If someone labels themself as a radical due to being on the farthest left hand side of the political spectrum they would want rapid change. They may even act out violently to get their point across. Next working toward the right hand side are the Liberals. The political party of the Liberals is the Democratic party. The Canadian Government actually has a significant connecting between the US and Cuba regarding the US and Cuban relations. Since the 1960's, Canada has been having "secret talks" between the two countries (US and Cuba). These talks were held after the U.S. and Cuba approached Canada seeking help in hosting the discussions. In more recent news, a Canadian government official said that Canada facilitated seven meetings in Ottawa and Toronto over the past 18 months. Stephen Harper quoted, "We facilitated places where the two countries could have a dialogue and explore ways of normalizing the relationship," "We were just trying to make sure that they had the opportunity to have the kind of dialogue they needed to have." • 15. Government Involvement Of The Civil Aircraft Government Involvement: The United States government does not actively help any companies compete in world markets. However, legislature has indirectly helped civil aircraft manufacturers. Many domestic civil aircraft manufactures are also large contributors to military aircraft production and share resources between the two tasks. Personnel, facilities, and resources necessary for both types of production are largely the same. Manufacturers often devote resources to civil aircraft when military contracts are low in supply. Civil aircraft is one of the largest exporting industries of the US and contributes a trade surplus. Therefore, it is in the best interests of the US to aid companies that manufacture civil aircraft. US legislation in airline regulation, airspace traffic control, and safety monitoring are aimed to facilitate air transportation. These measures indirectly aid aircraft manufacturers by increasing the popularity of commercial air travel and the demand for passenger airliners. Government subsidies in defence manufactures that also manufacture civil aircraft, in air– transported mail, and in airports also either directly or indirectly aid aircraft manufacturers. Occasionally, the US will directly subsidize research programs and production plants in civil aerospace firms. Boeing's civil aircraft division is the winner of the most local and state subsidies. Post Voting Obligation The Obligation of Post–Voting The United States does not follow a direct democracy–rather than voting on laws directly, the people vote their representative, including the president, the senate, and the house of representatives, into power and allow them to create and vote on laws. The people of the United States are not limited by this voting, however. Rather, this is only the beginning of their process. The goal of any politician is to get reelected, and in order to do so, they must follow the directives of the majority of people. • 17. Importance Of Government Involvement In Nutrition In Schools Mandi Griffin Vancuran H.English 11B 23, May, 2017 Government Involvement in Nutrition is the Key to Stopping Obesity A person's eating habits are set from school age and affect their health and development as an adult. The Nutrition standards in many schools are not up to par with current standards, resulting in children not being able to consume the amount of daily nutrition they need. This dilemma has led to an increase in school–age obesity. Due to the prevalence of obesity in school–age children in the United States, the federal government should increase its involvement in nutrition in schools and have better mandates. The reason there is a lack of involvement from the government and strict mandates is that according to Michelle Obama" many folks just didn't think childhood obesity was a serious issue" (Holecko). People"didn't want to go anywhere near it, because it seemed like an impossible problem" (Holecko). According to the "Trends in Obesity Prevalence among youth aged 2–19 years: United States 1999–2000 through 2013–2014" chart, there has been a steady increase in obesity in children ages 2–19. From the years 2009–2014, the percent of kids who are obese has increased from 16.9 to 17.2%. This trend is influenced by the lack of involvement of the government in nutrition standards most of which are outdated and underfunded. Once a turn around in the housing sector begins and demands for housing increases, then interest rates could slowly start going back up to ideal bank loaning conditions. If banks understood that they would make money in coming years, without losing money in the present, why not follow this path? This is a possible idea for all homebuyers in the middle and lower class. If a foreclosure is on someone's record and the foreclosure happened during the recession, it would be especially great for him or her. The banks would see that buyer's difficulty and in order to keep the client, interest rates would remain low for a longer period. In the years leading up to the French Revolution there was severe famine, increasing debt from spending money on numerous wars, and economic issues that originated from the misuse of wealth. To increase the severity of the situation, King Louis XVI had a taxation system that went against the source. Instead of taxing the upper class, King Louis XVI placed an enormous amount of tax on the middle to lower class, this heavy taxation was to support the self interests of the higher class and to allow them to retain their wealth. In return, this created an even bigger divide between classes economically and, essentially, made the poor poorer and the rich richer. However, China's promise for democracy can be dated back to the 1980s when it was declared in the Basic Law, "The ultimate aim is the selection of the chief executive by universal suffrage..." This promise of universal suffrage has been broken because of the Chinese government's inherited ideology, known as Marxist–Mao–Zedong, which causes the desire to assert power without interference as well as the Chinese government's angst over Hong Kong's potential to change the Chinese government towards pro–democracy; the effects include the Umbrella Movement and Hong Kong's citizens anxiety over decreasing human rights.
