2. SMARTBOARDS
- Smartboards are a really neat way to show
different lessons to students
- They get the children active and hands on
- Everything is literally at the teacher’s fingertips
- Better than dull lectures and busy work
3. LESSON
- Adaptation of this example:

- Target: High school students taking beginning
Italian
- This example is really neat in the way it shows
the matching and being able to connect words
to the pictures.
- Also is a great way to practice vocab
4. ADAPTING THE LESSON
- Start off with the most common phrases (i.e Ciao,
mi chiamo.., Come se dice?, Mi piace…, etc.) and
have them match to the English equivalents
- Next move onto the alphabet, while working with the
alphabet, show a word corresponding with the letter
(i.e A is for appartamento, B is for bambino/a.. etc.),
could even move into numbers. Pictures are very
helpful in learning vocab
- This is not only helping them learn vocab, but also
how to spell and pronounce.
5. ADAPTING CONTINUED…
- A fun way to end the class would be having a
game where they come up to the board and
having them match Italian words to English
words
- This resource is very beneficial because since
foreign languages are a little more difficult,
being able to see and write and participate in
activities will help remember words and
phrases more.
6. RELATING TO UNIVERSAL DESIGN
- Smartboards are a way to have all the different
learners come together to learn at the same
pace.
- It’s visual, auditory and gets the body moving.
- It can be used for all subjects as well
- It gives the students a chance to really get
involved with the lesson as well
