My Pursuit of Film Production
From an early age I have always had a strong interest in art, and have been involved with it in some form all through my life. When I turned 15 I
realised that it was something that I might like to pursue as a career, I started taking it more seriously. At the same time, I gained interest in film
production because I find the behind the scenes of films are amazing as I found this out when I was watching one the behind the scene documentary of
my two favorite movies and directed by two of my favorite directors in the film industry which are Goodfellas by Alfonso CuarГіn and Children of
Men by Martin Scorsese. The specific parts in this course that interest me are the cinematography and the editing process. In my spare time I like to
film and edit short videos, either scripted or just finding video clips I have to match up to a song.
I've completed my first year degree in Bachelor of Cinematic Art in Multimedia University, Malaysia in collaboration with University of Southern
California's School of Cinematic Art. Throughout the whole year I have learnt so much about film production from Screenwriting, Production, Sound
Design, Lighting to Directing Actors. A subject called Cinematic Art Design is where we form a group of five and take turns on different roles such as
Director, Producer, Sound Designer, Editor and Cinematographer for everyshort film to be made. Experiencing all of these roles throughout the whole
year was very interesting and challenging because you get a

Music Production Research Paper
Why is music production software necessary?
Everyone can compose good music if he has good creativity but everyone cannot become a great musician. Because for becoming a musician, the
music that was born in your mind should take its shape with various instruments being played together. If you do not know how to play the instruments
and bring all the tracks into sync you will definitely need a producer for your music. The producer may claim a royalty for your own creativity. You
may face some copyright issues for the song.
To overcome such problems, you should learn music production that is not an easy task. A beat maker is software that eliminates all your worries. It
has several in–built beats in its database, and you can select the beat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Elements of Design in the Green Mile
The Green Mile is an exceptional film that was created in the year 1999. This film was nominated for four academy awards: Best Supporting Actor,
Best Picture, Best Sound, and Best Adapted Screenplay. This movie teaches us how different the times were back in the 1900s compared to the way it
is now. The movie is set in 1935 which was during the times of theGreat Depression. It also illustrates death row and how execution is still a problem
to where it is not just and fair. There are several well–known actors that cast in this film. Each actor plays a very unique role and elements ... Show more

The production designer, who is also sometimes called the art director, is responsible for maintaining the sets, props and the costumes so that they are
in sync with the story and the character's role (Goodykontz & Jacobs, 2011). Production designers are head of the department on film crews and
they are responsible for the art department. Basically, they may be asked to look at scripts to decide how much time the art department needs to spend
on films. They also calculate the budgets to figure out how much money will be spent as well. Furthermore, they will provide their design sketches
expressing detailing mood, lighting, composition and color to the art directors who oversees the production (Anonymous, 2012).
In this scene, the "Miracle Worker", the lighting is low because it is night time, but there are lights on inside of the house in the bedroom where the
warden wife is lying in bed. The lighting is very dim which evokes a depressing and gloomy mood. It draws the audience into the scene to where
they can feel the same pain and sorrow that the actors feel. John Coffey places his lips over the warden's wife's lips to retrieve the sickness of the
cancer from her body. The chandelier begins to brighten and the sound of the music increases as the scene becomes more intense. There is a sign of

Changing Roles Of Women During World War I
The decade of the twenties has become known as "The Roaring Twenties," "The Epoch of Confusion," "The Age of Intolerance and Wonderful
Nonsense," "The Jazz Age," amongst many others, all of which attempt to encompass the great times and good feelings of this decade that would
influence modern America for many decades to come. Americans had more money to spend and more time for leisure in the hustle and bustle of cities
like New York and Philadelphia. The economic boom, the changing roles of women, and the explosion of massculture were all contributing factors to
this time of "dramatic social and political change" (Staff). After World War I, the nation's economy shifted from a military focus to one of a more
domestic approach. Factories that were previously used for wartime productions such as tanks transitioned into factories of peaceful production
(Sullivan). With this change, new products and technologies such as the automobile and household appliances were able to be mass produced– and
mass consumed. This created a new economic culture of consumerism, one that can be defined as "the theory that a progressively greater consumption
of goods is economically beneficial; Attachment to materialistic values or possessions" (Emerald 6) or a "culture surrounding the buying and selling of
products" (Sullivan). Encompassed in the frenzy of consumerism were the major industries of automobile making, household appliances, and the world
of advertising. The auto industry was jet

From the scenario for Katrina's Candies, determine the relevant costs for the expansion decision, and distinguish between the short run and the long run
costs. Recommend the key decision–making criteria that Katrina's Candies should use for expansion decisions in the short run and in the long run.
Provide rationale for your response.
Relevant costs are those that are avoidable or can be eliminated by choosing one alternative over another. Relevant costs are also known as differential,
or incremental, costs. In general, variable costs are relevant in production decisions because they vary with the level of production. Likewise, fixed
costs are generally not relevant, because they typically do not change as production changes. However, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
c) Cash flow: Expenses such as depreciation are not cash flows and are therefore not relevant. Similarly, the book value of existing equipment is
irrelevant, but the disposal value is relevant.
d) Common costs: Costs which will be identical for all alternatives are irrelevant, e.g. rent or rates on a factory would be incurred whatever products
are produced.
e) Sunk costs: Another name for past costs, which are always irrelevant, e.g. dedicated fixed assets, development costs already incurred.
f) Committed costs: A future cash outflow that will be incurred anyway, whatever decision is taken now, e.g. contracts already entered into which
cannot be altered.
g) Out–of–pocket cost requires future outlay of cash and results from management's decisions; is relevant.
h) Opportunity cost is potential benefit lost by taking specific action when two or more alternative choices are available; consideration is important.
Relevant benefits are additional or incremental revenue generated by selecting a particular course of action over another; relevant to decision–making.
Short–run costs– Economists define the short run as being the time period when at least one of the factors of production is completely fixed. For
example, for a particular company this might mean that they have reached full capacity in a warehouse or at a factory site. These short–run costs consist

Herberger And Hale
Hale's production of You Can't Take It With You was breathtaking with its core concepts, portrayal of emotion, and plot. When comparing this with
Herberger's production of You Can't Take It With You, you can begin to see the ideas mixing together as they bounce of one another so well.
However, not all things were exactly alike in the two seemingly identical versions of the same play. The first concept in which ideas were
ever–changing was the interpretation of characters in both plays. In Hale's production, Grandpa as seen as an slow, semi–serious man; but when looking
at Grandpa in Herberger's production, you can see him as a more of a lively, humorous character. This change in portrayal can also be seen in Rheba.

Some props that I felt were used differently in both productions mostly pertain to the aspect of music. In the Herberger's production of You Can't Take
It With You, music is incorporated a lot in ways such as commercials, cello, and guitar. Hale's show lacked all of these elements that I felt really helped
contribute to the sense of family and fellowship in You Can't Take It With You. By incorporating the commercials, theaudience could effectively be
transported to a place in which it is 1938. This really helped change the mindset of the audience into allowing them to connect with the characters in
the production on a deeper level. The guitar was also very important, because it also introduce a new member into this family. By adding the guitar,
Herberger's production was able to give the Vanderhoff's a range of kindness/generosity. This showed the audience that the Vanderhoff's would take in
anyone no matter background, personality, or timing of arrival. This really secured the bond in this wonderfully bizarre group of people, allowing a
connection to be formed between the audience and

Analysis Of Nigel Latta Blows Stuff Up Essay
Nigel Latta Blows Stuff Up is a New Zealand based, science themed television show. Each episode is packed with dramatic and entertaining
experiments, testing the fundamentals of science. This essay will look at what the production manager's duties for this series involve, what major
issues and risk factors the production manager would need to address, and it will suggest course of action that may solve these problems. These factors
will be discussed for pre–production, during production and postproduction. This essay will also focus on examples from episode 1 of the series.
Pre–production
The production manager is extremely important in the pre–production phase as the work they do in this time helps to assure that the production and
post production run smoothly (Stradling, 2010). The production manager in this stage is in charge of all the planning around the physical aspects of the
production including budgeting, scheduling, personal, locations, along with other aspects. This is all taken care of before the series is scheduled to
start shooting. Before any of these jobs are undertaken, it is important for the production manager to understand what the producer wants, what the
investor NZ on Air wants, and what the production company Razor Film wants in order to fulfill each of their requirements in the show.

The Rise Of Mass Culture
Mass Culture in the United States: Technology and Time–Off
Mass culture can be defined as the philosophy that is collective made by disclosure of similar news sources, literature, music, art and commercial
advertisements. The rise of mass culture is a comparatively new existence. The culture occurrence is related to the rise of a leisure class triggered by
technological innovations. Similarly, the surplus in production brought about by the industrial revolution and the time the average consumer had to
dedicate to non–work pursuits also attributed to the rise of mass culture. Also, the trend resulted from the delineated work schedule favored by mass
production and labor laws that defined the limits of the production schedule, and created a new space for workers and their families . Prior to the
advent of mass culture, the elite defined high culture using the proper forms of cultural expression. The elite used the control of the access to this
culture to define in–group identification and signal cultural cues which were to be picked up and mimicked by the lower classes. The monopoly on
cultural expression changed with the advent of the mass production of goods. These goods became affordable owing to the sheer scale of their
manufacture and the necessity to create awareness of the production surplus means of communication on a scale that had not happened in human
history. The rise of mass culture was also made possible by the sprawl of societies as nations transitioned from

Music And Its Impact On Development Of Musical...
INTRODUCTION This essay will be looking at "Indie music" and discussing its impact with regard to the development of musical performances
and production. The word "Indie" is a term derived from the word Independent. Originally, independent music referred to bands or artists who
performed and/or produced music autonomously and without the commercial rules and restrictions associated with major record labels (Hale, 2014).
As a result, this offered artists more freedom of expression and a wider scope to push the musical boundaries. Throughout the years the term "Indie"
has evolved into a broader meaning that is harder to define. Today Indie is recognised as a genre of music and is often used as a prefix to another
genre such as Indie–Pop and Indie–Folk. So what is Indie music? And how did Indie evolve to become a genre? BRIEF HISTORY OF EARLY
INDEPENDENT RECORD LABELS 'Independent record labels have been around since music started being recorded' (King, 2012, p.13). Created by
fanatics with a passion for music, the recording and production process was often self–funded and the purpose was to nurture talent and creativity.
Most of the major record companies we know today would have once started in this manner (King, 2012). As far back as 1917 independent record
labels were recording early Blues and Jazz music. In 1920 following the end of World War 1 (WW1), Brunswick became known as the biggest
independent label in the USA. Due to financial problems, Brunswick went

Over centuries past, music has seen leaps and bounds in the enhancement of theory, instruments, and recording arts. The first major leap was the
invention of the piano in 1709 by Bartolomeo Cristofori. From that first major step came the introduction of electronic instruments short after the
harnessing of electricity which came in the early 19th century. Soon after that came recording and then on to synthesizers and eventually digital
recording. As computers were introduced to society, computer music was also brought into our vision. What we are seeing today in the music industry
is the use of computers and the Internet to distribute music, whereas in the past, distribution was only available via record, eight track, tape and compact

In addition, the large volume of traffic on the Internet makes it difficult to track messages and files over time and space.
Given that there are thousands of MP3 sites around the world, with a vast array of musical resources, visited by millions, there is a new social reality
of individuals organizing themselves and their musical passions. The music industry today is an organized business with over 70 percent of the
global market controlled by five major corporations. The possibilities for newcomers in the business are few. MP3 was so undesirable because it
represented an application of technology unanticipated by the industry. Given the industry's history of taking advantage of new technologies, how will
it use the Internet?
The future of the business is closely related to computer technology and the World Wide Web. The Internet provides opportunities to expand markets,
transport goods more easily and hence increase sales, and consequently provide for more profitable results. New computing developments and

Peer to Peer Piracy and the Film Industry Essay
Peer to Peer Piracy and the Film Industry
Introduction
Each day an estimated 400,000 films exchange hands through the Internet. Movie piracy, once reserved to pirate syndicates and illegal duplication
factories, has become a common staple among college students with high–speed internet access. With advanced compression technology, movie files
can be transferred across continents in hours and across campus networks in under ten minutes. File–sharing is seen as a victimless crime, but the
motion picture industry is expected to lose $3.5 billion this year alone due to piracy. Pirate activities undermine every aspect of the legitimate
filmmaking business since legitimate retailers cannot possibly compete fairly with pirate business. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This carefully planned release of the film to different markets is known as distribution windows, and is essential to the survival of the film industry. If
a film is pirated at any point, the worth of that film can be fatally depleted long before it can retrieve its initial investment.
Film Releases
There are generally two critical points in a film's distribution window where it can be pirated: in theatres, and retail DVDs. The most important
release for a film is its theatrical release. A movie can earn back close to half of its budget in its opening weekend. However, the film can be pirated in
two ways. Pirates can use hand–held video cameras to record films off of theater screens and then copy these films onto other medias. Another method
of piracy involves the theft of the film print from a theater. This type of theft allows the pirate to make a relatively high quality copy from the theatrical
print, which then serves as the master for the duplication of unauthorized copies. These illicit copies are not only distributed to pirates in the US, but
also shipped overseas and distributed through illegal channels even before the film's international theatrical release, cannibalizing a film's opening
weekend–returns. These copies are usually encoded and transferred over the Internet as well as through peer–to–peer networks.
The second critical point is copies from retail DVDs. Before DVDs are sold to the public, production facilities churn out a

There were many reasons for the boom they were: Mass production: Factories around the USA could use electricity and set up assembly lines and
make objects quickly. The cars were made identical to make them easier to make and so they are cheaper.
America was being paid back loaned that it had lent other countries during the war, on top of this they were making interest. The banks now had lots
of money to lend to people setting up a business or for people to buy on the margin.
Taxation was kept low and businesses and companies able to keep much of the profit to invest in new efficient factories that produced goods at a

Advertising also played a part in the boom, these convinced people to buy their items. They exaggerated. Advertising took place on the Posters, radio

How Did Henry Ford Use Mass Production In The 1920's
Throughout the 1920's, while the economy was stable, there was quite a large unemployment rate. This allowed many individuals to come up with
ways to provide for more jobs and make jobs more cost effective. One method of this was popularized by Henry Ford known as "mass production".
This being created in the 1910's was brought to its best by henry ford creating more, easier, better–paying jobs for anyone. Mass Production
techniques in industries and factories allowed larger numbers of products to be created more easily with less effort, better wages for employees, and
cheaper retail costs. The most popular method of mass production was the efficient use of the Assembly Line, as used by Henry Ford and the production

Music Production, Branding And Music Consumption With My...
INTRODUCTION The landscape of music industry has undeniably changed during the past 15 years. The advancing technology made a big impact on
how we produce, market, promote, monetize and consume music. In my essay response I will be focusing on three themes: music production, branding
and music consumption with my overarching theme being Technology. For an established or up–and–coming band in '90s there were four possible
income sources: touring, merchandising, recordings and publishing. These income sources are still here, but there are so much more options now.
This is the reason why for bands and artists it is more difficult now then it was back then, because they have all these choices to make (Bertis Downs,
2012). To be a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 2014 the overall music market value was only $14.97 billion (IFPI, 2014). The music record industry went into decline because of the advancing
computers and telecommunication technologies, new MP3 format and Peer–to–Peer file sharing websites. Consumers stopped buying tangible formats
like CDs and preferred to have everything on their hard drives. They were also able to get music for free, because there was no enforceable law
forbidding them. The technology has also changed the relationship between the record label and the artist. Record label would pay all the costs in a
typical contract, which covers studio costs, session musicians, producers and engineers. Music is now being recorded in digital format and not
analog, which reduces the costs together with distribution being digital downloads and streaming. This means that artists can take care of the whole
process from start to finish. MUSIC PRODUCTION Technology is like a river and can change its direction completely. It can move in a different
direction from what once was considered to be true and into one expected logically in the future. The cost and accessibility barrier is lowered with
every new technology arriving and therefore the competition is increasing (Peter Alexander, 1994). In late '80s digital music recording was emerging,
but with technological limitations like computer memory and speed, the artist couldn't do more than sampling. In early and mid '90s hardware got

Tinker & Tailor's Home Security Service, LLC (LLC)Liability: Members of an LLC enjoy limited liability for the debts and obligations of the
business, including liability for the unlawful acts of other members and employees.
Sole Proprietorship. In comparison and contrast, the liability exposure associated with the various forms of business organizational structure is
important to each business owner; before beginning their business venture. The sole proprietor does not have to ask for anyone's permission, wait for
votes or meetings, or seek others' approval (Seaquist, 2012). For example, a sole proprietorship offers autonomy and freedom from vicarious liability
of co–owners. In a sole proprietorship of the Tinker and Taylor's Home Security Service, it is difficult to limit one's liability. In a sole proprietorship
the owner of the business is liable for all damages incurred and said owners personal assets are not protected from lawsuit.
The sole proprietor and the business are one in the same with regard to liability. The sole proprietorship is not recognized as a separate entity from its
owner; as a consequence, the debts of the business are deemed to be the personal debts of the owner, and the sole proprietor has unlimited personal
liability for all the debts, contractual obligations, and legal judgments the business incurs (Seaquist, 2012).However, just as important as the autonomy,
the sole proprietorship permits the business owner freedom

The Impact Of Technological Change On The British...
Technological change was at the heart of driving the British Industrial Revolution over the late 18th and early 19th century. A series of significant
inventions such as steam engines, spinning jenny and water frame had precipitated British economy's evolution from pre–modern to sustained
economic growth. To explain the radical change in technology, two competing factors are highlighted in literature. Economists like Sir John R.Hicks
outlined that "the real reason for the predominance of labour–saving inventions is surely that ... a change in the relative prices of the factors of
production is itself a spur to innovation and to inventions" (). In contrast, Joel Mokyr argued that it was the right combination of useful knowledge
generated by scientists, engineers and inventors to be exploited by a supply of skilled craftsmen in an institutional environment that produced the
correct incentives for entrepreneurs (Crafts, 2010, p155–156). By comparing the impacts of factor prices and institutions on technological change in
Industrial Revolution, the former is evidently more important than the latter.
Britain's peculiar wage and price structure was decisive in motivating dramatic technological change over industrial revolution. The abundance of
coal's supply made energy very cheap (Allen, 2009, p82). Other than that, the relative price of labour to capital and energy had been surging from the
mid–17th century (Allen, 2009, pp171–172). Due to the factor price structure of British

Interpreting Theatre Concepts
Theatre can be described as an art form to show expression of opinion, empathize a phenomenon, or tell a story through dialogue, song and body
language. With multiple aspects contributing to this art, theatre is truly multidimensional. Throughout the semester, I have watched productions to
analyze and evaluate aspects in the productions. Within helpful resources and my own techniques, I achieved the course objectives in a successful way.
Because of this course, I have truly learned a multitude of aspects that can further enhance my education. Through evaluating and analyzing, I achieved
the goal of corresponding theatre concepts. These concepts including the aspects of dialogue within the characters through observing and analyzing.

which assignments needed to be completed as well as when they were due. I also completed my assignments before the due date. I used time
management to complete assignments on time. For example, I would complete my discussion posts a day before they were due or I would reflect on
my postings with turning in the portfolio early. Because I turned assignments in on time or even early, I would evaluate my own work through
comprehending the productions in a manageable amount of time. I also created a strategy to help me be successful. I would read the articles and the
videos associated with the production before watching the show. This would help me understand the production better by the little details of the theme
and character evaluations. I also would write notes for each production to help prepare for the discussion postings and quizzes. This helped me
remember details of the show and for reviewing purposes before the quiz. As a result, all of these aspects helped me be successful throughout the

Main Case Study 4–6: Grand Jean Company
Introduction
This case study covers case 4–6 of 'Management Control Systems', written by Robert N. Anthony and Vijay Govindarajan (2007, 12th edition). The
case discusses Grand Jean Company, a jeans manufacturing company, and describes several processes and issues in their organisation and
management. In this report, we will we review and discuss the main problems that Grand Jean Company faces, analyse and propose solutions to these
problems.

Grand Jean then immediately terminates the relationship, and does not try to aid its contractors in any way that we have noticed. This is a waste of
invested time and resources in the relationship, which could be easily avoided by closer collaboration and communication, combined with more a
more flexible framework. The existing facilities are not used for a period of time; which is an additional waste of resources.
The key metrics that Grand Jean use to evaluate the company's performance are very outdated. The main focus throughout the company is to focus on
production output and metrics that affect or can be derived from focusing on production quantity e.g. production/year, standard hours/pair. However,
there seems to be no consideration of metrics that affect the overall performance of the company.
As mentioned before, the contractor's that failed to meet expectations were usually just replaced by a new contractor in the same existing facility, this
is an activity that impacts the company's overall performance, as time and money has to again be spent re–negotiating terms of agreement, setting up
and starting production lines. Overall the key metrics do not focus on activities that can have a more profound impact on the company's performance.
The heavy focus on production quota causes the company to

The Digital Media Production Club
When I was a junior in high school, I was curious of how videos were made, so I joined the digital media production club. In one week we learned
the basics of how to create a short film, and it wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be to create a video. There was many interesting information
about filming, and I had fun producing each project with my club members. We had to create our own stories or personal perspective of a story
into a video. When we want to recreate a movie scene, we need approval of the scene, and the instructor would make sure we didn't get hurt in the
process. Filmmaking could be for anyone to create wonderful memories or express a meaningful message, and I would like to assist you with your
first short film. Thus, the primary steps to creating a film are getting the equipment, planning out the production, taking action, and editing the video.
First of all, it's important to gather all the necessary equipment needed for the project. If you can't buy the equipment, you can rent these pieces of
equipment at Magnanimous Media. Initially, the most important equipment for the production is to have a video camera since it's a device for you
to record the visual. The computer is another significant tool to use to edit the footage which the footage would be from your video camera. We
would need a video software on the computer, and I have some recommendations of software like Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere Pro, VideoPad, or

FUTURE MAKING
As human–beings are almost the only species which has perception of future and also has an ability to take advantages from the future by changing
their current behaviours (David Suzuki, 2013), people are enthusiastic about evaluating new objects or unusual events, to maintain their well–being. "

Although, there has not been proved by certain evidence that society could be dehumanised by technology which has been created to expand human's
ability; it seems that people would be worried of the impacts when something cannot be understand with the common knowledge. This is not difficult to
understand, when a staff of Volkswagen died by a punch of an automatic– robot in the assembling factory, people had a doubt that the robot possibly
"attacked" this worker (Time Magazine, 2015); if it was not about an automatic–robot, but a cast machine or a swing lathes which have caused
numerous injuries and deaths, perhaps nobody could have a thinking of that. Actually, automatic–robots do their job with specific programmes which
cannot offer any intelligence to attack someone. Likewise, technology, especially themass production, has never betrayed its purpose, which is to
increase the productivity, but just because of its different thinking aspect from crafting, which aspect is based on specific theories and unfriendly
interfaces, people commence a crisis of losing the original joys of crafting things. Accordingly, hybrid making benefits in this view because of its
easy–understand process – producing objects with addition of material, layer by layer, which is similar with people's thinking of crafting and building.

Value Creation Essay
Value creation
Two basic conditions determine a firm's profits: the amount of value customers place on the firm's goods or services and the firm's costs of
production. In general, the more value customers place on a firm's products, the higher the price the firm can charge for those products. Note,
however, that the price a firm charges for a good and service is typically less then the value placed on that good or service by the customer. This is so
because the customer captures some of that value in the form of what economists call a consumer surplus.
The value creation by a firm is measured by the difference between the amount of value customers place on the firm's goods or services (V) and firm's
cost of production. Michael porter has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mexico has 3 distinct adv over asia. First, it is nearer to US. Second, it has a cheap labor. Third, the north–american free trade agreement has removed
many barriers between US and mexico.
Another caveat concerns the importance of assessing political and economic risks when making location decisions. Even if a country looks very
attractive as a production location when measured against all the standard criteria, if its govt is unstable or totalitarian, the firm might be advised not to
base production there. Or inappropriate economic policies by the govt.
Experience effects
The experience curve refers to systematic reductions in production costs that have been observed to occur over the life of a product. A number of
studies have observed that product's production costs decline by some quantity about each time accumulated output doubles. The relationship was first
observed in the aircraft industry, where each time accumulated output of airframes was doubled, unit costs typically declined to 80% of their previous
level and it continues.
Experience effects are caused due to: learning effects and economies of scale.
(draw the experience curve pg 419)
Learning effects
Learning effects refer to cost savings that come from learning by doing. Labor, for example, learns by repetition how to carry out a task, such as
assembling airframes, most efficiently. Labor productivity increases over time as individuals learn the most efficient ways

I know how much of a clichГ© it is to begin this essay with the same, "I knew I wanted to be music ever since I was a little girl", line in which
you've probably heard over a thousand times, but I can honestly say that music has been the only passion I have continuously stuck by. I began writing

different types of yarn around the tubing to add the colors of the veins.
While completing this job, I took on the leadership position within the group. Setting deadlines, organizing materials, and making sure everyone did
their part wasa role I took myself. I made sure to include the creative input from all members. For example, the group, as a whole, decided on the

consideration. Part of what makes group projects great are the multiple perspectives and ideas that are available, so it is necessary to take advantage of
all of them. Another important aspect is communication. Whether it's over emails or text messages, knowing what is going on and when it is going on
is key.
Within this experience I also learned about what I can contribute into other collaborative environments. As a person I tend to be very easy–going and

The Production Of Music: Spaghetti Western Movies And...
In almost every movie, there is a background music included to give the audience more of an excitement. The production of music can be referred to
as background music, even when it plays a crucial role when telling the story. There are a lot of genres in a film but we mainly focused on Spaghetti
Western Movies and Silent Films which both of the films contain little dialogue.
Spaghetti western which originally were represented by their productions in the Italian language, therefore it is also known as Italian Western.
Spaghetti western is basically a broad genre of Western films that developed in the mid–1960s. It is called Italian Western because most were produced
and directed by the Italians. Spaghetti film consisted a music that suits a particular scene where most of the scene had less dialogue, therefore music
was a way to narrate what was happening. The film we focused on, was the movie called Once Upon A Time in the West which was made in 1968,

(E–home Recording Studio, 2017 These steps can be broken down into two further categories broken, when the recordings are separate, which is
recording and editing.
A. The first step in putting together any piece of music is the recording, when the actual music is recorded.
1. This part of the recording part is very important, because without it there would be no music. It starts with a generic beat which is played to give
the musician a general idea of what is being looked for. They then recorded they instrumental portion of the song. After the entire instrumental portion
is recorded the lead vocals are then recorded. The last part of the recording process is recording any backup vocals or sound effects (non–instrumental).
B. The next step is editing, which is like cleaning up the recordings.
1. In editing the music producer will listen to the recordings to ensure they all will work together. They will then pick the best take of each recording.
They then remove any possible noise disturbance, and use any pitch editing or auto tune to make the recordings as good as

  • 2. My Pursuit of Film Production From an early age I have always had a strong interest in art, and have been involved with it in some form all through my life. When I turned 15 I realised that it was something that I might like to pursue as a career, I started taking it more seriously. At the same time, I gained interest in film production because I find the behind the scenes of films are amazing as I found this out when I was watching one the behind the scene documentary of my two favorite movies and directed by two of my favorite directors in the film industry which are Goodfellas by Alfonso CuarГіn and Children of Men by Martin Scorsese. The specific parts in this course that interest me are the cinematography and the editing process. In my spare time I like to film and edit short videos, either scripted or just finding video clips I have to match up to a song. I've completed my first year degree in Bachelor of Cinematic Art in Multimedia University, Malaysia in collaboration with University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Art. Throughout the whole year I have learnt so much about film production from Screenwriting, Production, Sound Design, Lighting to Directing Actors. A subject called Cinematic Art Design is where we form a group of five and take turns on different roles such as Director, Producer, Sound Designer, Editor and Cinematographer for everyshort film to be made. Experiencing all of these roles throughout the whole year was very interesting and challenging because you get a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Elements of Design in the Green Mile Essay Elements of Design in the Green Mile John Jelks ENG 225: Introduction to Film Instructor Renee Gurley July 16, 2012 Elements of Design in the Green Mile The Green Mile is an exceptional film that was created in the year 1999. This film was nominated for four academy awards: Best Supporting Actor, Best Picture, Best Sound, and Best Adapted Screenplay. This movie teaches us how different the times were back in the 1900s compared to the way it is now. The movie is set in 1935 which was during the times of theGreat Depression. It also illustrates death row and how execution is still a problem to where it is not just and fair. There are several well–known actors that cast in this film. The production designer, who is also sometimes called the art director, is responsible for maintaining the sets, props and the costumes so that they are in sync with the story and the character's role (Goodykontz & Jacobs, 2011). Production designers are head of the department on film crews and they are responsible for the art department. Basically, they may be asked to look at scripts to decide how much time the art department needs to spend on films. They also calculate the budgets to figure out how much money will be spent as well. Furthermore, they will provide their design sketches expressing detailing mood, lighting, composition and color to the art directors who oversees the production (Anonymous, 2012). In this scene, the "Miracle Worker", the lighting is low because it is night time, but there are lights on inside of the house in the bedroom where the warden wife is lying in bed. The lighting is very dim which evokes a depressing and gloomy mood. It draws the audience into the scene to where they can feel the same pain and sorrow that the actors feel. John Coffey places his lips over the warden's wife's lips to retrieve the sickness of the cancer from her body. The chandelier begins to brighten and the sound of the music increases as the scene becomes more intense. There is a sign of bright lighting coming from the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Changing Roles Of Women During World War I The decade of the twenties has become known as "The Roaring Twenties," "The Epoch of Confusion," "The Age of Intolerance and Wonderful Nonsense," "The Jazz Age," amongst many others, all of which attempt to encompass the great times and good feelings of this decade that would influence modern America for many decades to come. Americans had more money to spend and more time for leisure in the hustle and bustle of cities like New York and Philadelphia. The economic boom, the changing roles of women, and the explosion of massculture were all contributing factors to this time of "dramatic social and political change" (Staff). After World War I, the nation's economy shifted from a military focus to one of a more domestic approach. Factories that were previously used for wartime productions such as tanks transitioned into factories of peaceful production (Sullivan). With this change, new products and technologies such as the automobile and household appliances were able to be mass produced– and mass consumed. This created a new economic culture of consumerism, one that can be defined as "the theory that a progressively greater consumption of goods is economically beneficial; Attachment to materialistic values or possessions" (Emerald 6) or a "culture surrounding the buying and selling of products" (Sullivan). Encompassed in the frenzy of consumerism were the major industries of automobile making, household appliances, and the world of advertising. The auto industry was jet ... Recommend the key decision–making criteria that Katrina's Candies should use for expansion decisions in the short run and in the long run. Provide rationale for your response. Relevant costs are those that are avoidable or can be eliminated by choosing one alternative over another. Relevant costs are also known as differential, or incremental, costs. In general, variable costs are relevant in production decisions because they vary with the level of production. Likewise, fixed costs are generally not relevant, because they typically do not change as production changes. However, ... Similarly, the book value of existing equipment is irrelevant, but the disposal value is relevant. d) Common costs: Costs which will be identical for all alternatives are irrelevant, e.g. rent or rates on a factory would be incurred whatever products are produced. e) Sunk costs: Another name for past costs, which are always irrelevant, e.g. dedicated fixed assets, development costs already incurred. f) Committed costs: A future cash outflow that will be incurred anyway, whatever decision is taken now, e.g. contracts already entered into which cannot be altered. g) Out–of–pocket cost requires future outlay of cash and results from management's decisions; is relevant. h) Opportunity cost is potential benefit lost by taking specific action when two or more alternative choices are available; consideration is important. Relevant benefits are additional or incremental revenue generated by selecting a particular course of action over another; relevant to decision–making. • 8. Herberger And Hale Hale's production of You Can't Take It With You was breathtaking with its core concepts, portrayal of emotion, and plot. When comparing this with Herberger's production of You Can't Take It With You, you can begin to see the ideas mixing together as they bounce of one another so well. However, not all things were exactly alike in the two seemingly identical versions of the same play. The first concept in which ideas were ever–changing was the interpretation of characters in both plays. In Hale's production, Grandpa as seen as an slow, semi–serious man; but when looking at Grandpa in Herberger's production, you can see him as a more of a lively, humorous character. Some props that I felt were used differently in both productions mostly pertain to the aspect of music. In the Herberger's production of You Can't Take It With You, music is incorporated a lot in ways such as commercials, cello, and guitar. Hale's show lacked all of these elements that I felt really helped contribute to the sense of family and fellowship in You Can't Take It With You. By incorporating the commercials, theaudience could effectively be transported to a place in which it is 1938. This really helped change the mindset of the audience into allowing them to connect with the characters in the production on a deeper level. The guitar was also very important, because it also introduce a new member into this family. By adding the guitar, Herberger's production was able to give the Vanderhoff's a range of kindness/generosity. This showed the audience that the Vanderhoff's would take in anyone no matter background, personality, or timing of arrival. This really secured the bond in this wonderfully bizarre group of people, allowing a connection to be formed between the audience and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Each episode is packed with dramatic and entertaining experiments, testing the fundamentals of science. This essay will look at what the production manager's duties for this series involve, what major issues and risk factors the production manager would need to address, and it will suggest course of action that may solve these problems. These factors will be discussed for pre–production, during production and postproduction. This essay will also focus on examples from episode 1 of the series. Pre–production The production manager is extremely important in the pre–production phase as the work they do in this time helps to assure that the production and post production run smoothly (Stradling, 2010). The production manager in this stage is in charge of all the planning around the physical aspects of the production including budgeting, scheduling, personal, locations, along with other aspects. This is all taken care of before the series is scheduled to start shooting. Before any of these jobs are undertaken, it is important for the production manager to understand what the producer wants, what the investor NZ on Air wants, and what the production company Razor Film wants in order to fulfill each of their requirements in the show. • 12. The Rise Of Mass Culture Mass Culture in the United States: Technology and Time–Off Mass culture can be defined as the philosophy that is collective made by disclosure of similar news sources, literature, music, art and commercial advertisements. The rise of mass culture is a comparatively new existence. The culture occurrence is related to the rise of a leisure class triggered by technological innovations. Similarly, the surplus in production brought about by the industrial revolution and the time the average consumer had to dedicate to non–work pursuits also attributed to the rise of mass culture. Also, the trend resulted from the delineated work schedule favored by mass production and labor laws that defined the limits of the production schedule, and created a new space for workers and their families . Prior to the advent of mass culture, the elite defined high culture using the proper forms of cultural expression. The elite used the control of the access to this culture to define in–group identification and signal cultural cues which were to be picked up and mimicked by the lower classes. • 17. Music And Its Impact On Development Of Musical... INTRODUCTION This essay will be looking at "Indie music" and discussing its impact with regard to the development of musical performances and production. The word "Indie" is a term derived from the word Independent. Originally, independent music referred to bands or artists who performed and/or produced music autonomously and without the commercial rules and restrictions associated with major record labels (Hale, 2014). As a result, this offered artists more freedom of expression and a wider scope to push the musical boundaries. Throughout the years the term "Indie" has evolved into a broader meaning that is harder to define. Today Indie is recognised as a genre of music and is often used as a prefix to another genre such as Indie–Pop and Indie–Folk. So what is Indie music? And how did Indie evolve to become a genre? BRIEF HISTORY OF EARLY INDEPENDENT RECORD LABELS 'Independent record labels have been around since music started being recorded' (King, 2012, p.13). Created by fanatics with a passion for music, the recording and production process was often self–funded and the purpose was to nurture talent and creativity. Most of the major record companies we know today would have once started in this manner (King, 2012). As far back as 1917 independent record labels were recording early Blues and Jazz music. In 1920 following the end of World War 1 (WW1), Brunswick became known as the biggest independent label in the USA. Due to financial problems, Brunswick went ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 18. Discuss the Impact of Digital Technology on the Production... Over centuries past, music has seen leaps and bounds in the enhancement of theory, instruments, and recording arts. The first major leap was the invention of the piano in 1709 by Bartolomeo Cristofori. From that first major step came the introduction of electronic instruments short after the harnessing of electricity which came in the early 19th century. Soon after that came recording and then on to synthesizers and eventually digital recording. As computers were introduced to society, computer music was also brought into our vision. What we are seeing today in the music industry is the use of computers and the Internet to distribute music, whereas in the past, distribution was only available via record, eight track, tape and compact disc. ... With advanced compression technology, movie files can be transferred across continents in hours and across campus networks in under ten minutes. If a film is pirated at any point, the worth of that film can be fatally depleted long before it can retrieve its initial investment. Film Releases There are generally two critical points in a film's distribution window where it can be pirated: in theatres, and retail DVDs. The most important release for a film is its theatrical release. A movie can earn back close to half of its budget in its opening weekend. However, the film can be pirated in two ways. Pirates can use hand–held video cameras to record films off of theater screens and then copy these films onto other medias. Another method of piracy involves the theft of the film print from a theater. This type of theft allows the pirate to make a relatively high quality copy from the theatrical print, which then serves as the master for the duplication of unauthorized copies. These illicit copies are not only distributed to pirates in the US, but also shipped overseas and distributed through illegal channels even before the film's international theatrical release, cannibalizing a film's opening weekend–returns. These copies are usually encoded and transferred over the Internet as well as through peer–to–peer networks. The second critical point is copies from retail DVDs. The advancing technology made a big impact on how we produce, market, promote, monetize and consume music. In my essay response I will be focusing on three themes: music production, branding and music consumption with my overarching theme being Technology. For an established or up–and–coming band in '90s there were four possible income sources: touring, merchandising, recordings and publishing. These income sources are still here, but there are so much more options now. This is the reason why for bands and artists it is more difficult now then it was back then, because they have all these choices to make (Bertis Downs, 2012). To be a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 2014 the overall music market value was only $14.97 billion (IFPI, 2014). The music record industry went into decline because of the advancing computers and telecommunication technologies, new MP3 format and Peer–to–Peer file sharing websites. Consumers stopped buying tangible formats like CDs and preferred to have everything on their hard drives. They were also able to get music for free, because there was no enforceable law forbidding them. The technology has also changed the relationship between the record label and the artist. Record label would pay all the costs in a typical contract, which covers studio costs, session musicians, producers and engineers. Music is now being recorded in digital format and not analog, which reduces the costs together with distribution being digital downloads and streaming. This means that artists can take care of the whole process from start to finish. MUSIC PRODUCTION Technology is like a river and can change its direction completely. It can move in a different direction from what once was considered to be true and into one expected logically in the future. The cost and accessibility barrier is lowered with every new technology arriving and therefore the competition is increasing (Peter Alexander, 1994). In late '80s digital music recording was emerging, but with technological limitations like computer memory and speed, the artist couldn't do more than sampling. • 26. The Impact Of Technological Change On The British... Technological change was at the heart of driving the British Industrial Revolution over the late 18th and early 19th century. A series of significant inventions such as steam engines, spinning jenny and water frame had precipitated British economy's evolution from pre–modern to sustained economic growth. To explain the radical change in technology, two competing factors are highlighted in literature. Economists like Sir John R.Hicks outlined that "the real reason for the predominance of labour–saving inventions is surely that ... a change in the relative prices of the factors of production is itself a spur to innovation and to inventions" (). In contrast, Joel Mokyr argued that it was the right combination of useful knowledge generated by scientists, engineers and inventors to be exploited by a supply of skilled craftsmen in an institutional environment that produced the correct incentives for entrepreneurs (Crafts, 2010, p155–156). By comparing the impacts of factor prices and institutions on technological change in Industrial Revolution, the former is evidently more important than the latter. Britain's peculiar wage and price structure was decisive in motivating dramatic technological change over industrial revolution. The abundance of coal's supply made energy very cheap (Allen, 2009, p82). Other than that, the relative price of labour to capital and energy had been surging from the mid–17th century (Allen, 2009, pp171–172). Due to the factor price structure of British ... • 37. Value Creation Essay Value creation Two basic conditions determine a firm's profits: the amount of value customers place on the firm's goods or services and the firm's costs of production. In general, the more value customers place on a firm's products, the higher the price the firm can charge for those products. Note, however, that the price a firm charges for a good and service is typically less then the value placed on that good or service by the customer. This is so because the customer captures some of that value in the form of what economists call a consumer surplus. The value creation by a firm is measured by the difference between the amount of value customers place on the firm's goods or services (V) and firm's cost of production. Michael porter has ... Third, the north–american free trade agreement has removed many barriers between US and mexico. Another caveat concerns the importance of assessing political and economic risks when making location decisions. Even if a country looks very attractive as a production location when measured against all the standard criteria, if its govt is unstable or totalitarian, the firm might be advised not to base production there. Or inappropriate economic policies by the govt. Experience effects The experience curve refers to systematic reductions in production costs that have been observed to occur over the life of a product. A number of studies have observed that product's production costs decline by some quantity about each time accumulated output doubles. The relationship was first observed in the aircraft industry, where each time accumulated output of airframes was doubled, unit costs typically declined to 80% of their previous level and it continues. Experience effects are caused due to: learning effects and economies of scale. (draw the experience curve pg 419)

Music Industry And Practice Music Production I know how much of a clichГ© it is to begin this essay with the same, "I knew I wanted to be music ever since I was a little girl", line in which you've probably heard over a thousand times, but I can honestly say that music has been the only passion I have continuously stuck by. I began writing songs when I was nine years old and I knew then that this was something I wanted to pursue. Therefore, when I heard there was an opportunity for me to learn about the music industry and practice music production, I couldn't help but to apply. Each week we would gather in or outside of class to mold, paint, and fill our body's veins. We used clear tubing to act as the main structure and wrapped different types of yarn around the tubing to add the colors of the veins. While completing this job, I took on the leadership position within the group. Setting deadlines, organizing materials, and making sure everyone did their part wasa role I took myself. I made sure to include the creative input from all members. For example, the group, as a whole, decided on the materials and how to put the body system together. My experience with the Frankenstein project allowed me to understand the importance of group cooperation and communication. I learned in order to have a productive group you need to be willing to compromise and take others perspectives into consideration. Part of what makes group projects great are the multiple perspectives and ideas that are available, so it is necessary to take advantage of all of them. Another important aspect is communication. Whether it's over emails or text messages, knowing what is going on and when it is going on is key. Within this experience I also learned about what I can contribute into other collaborative environments. As a person I tend to be very easy–going and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I plan to tell you about the technology and programs used to produce music today and how the pieces are brought together to form a complete song. This part of the recording part is very important, because without it there would be no music. It starts with a generic beat which is played to give the musician a general idea of what is being looked for. They then recorded they instrumental portion of the song. After the entire instrumental portion is recorded the lead vocals are then recorded.
