 tour of Archaeological Site of Philippi (UNESCO World Heritage
Centre)
 tour in Kavala: sightseeing (archeological museum, imaret, old
town, kamares etc.), some free time for shopping
 visit to the Primary School in Nea Karvali where the refugees’
children are educated
 return to the hotel – meal at the restaurant

activities
Students are grouped in 3 transnational teams. Teams play team
bonding games. Then each team works on a different activity:
 1st
team - Poetry activity. By using poetry as a means to explore
the power of words students will experiment with their own
languages along with English to express a message of welcoming
for refugees and asylum seekers.
 2nd
team - A7 - Migration vs. Refugeeism
 3rd
team - A8 - My country's migration history – creation of
collaborative timeline
Teachers will:
 be acquainted with the primary school of Nea Karya
 get information about the Greek language
 meet for the project
Teachers & students: walking tour in the village of Nea Karya
 return to the hotel – meal at the restaurant

16:00 – 20:00 optional excursion to Thassos Island.

 Students work on project activities in 3 international teams:
1st
team - They work and reflect on Rio's 2016 Refugee Olympic Team, a
symbol of hope for all the refugees in our world.
2nd
team- They work on A20 - SEL activities - exploring the language and
emotions associated with feeling welcome and unwelcome using drama
techniques. This activity aims to help them consider how they could
make refugees and asylum seekers feel welcome.
3rd
team - They play an online game from The United Nations High
Commissioner for Refugees.

Information about extra costs:
Meals
 Breakfast: Breakfastis included in the costof the hotel.
 Lunch: We havearranged for you to have lunch in a restaurant
that is located nearby to your hotel. The costis 10€ (+ taxes if you
need a receipt) for each person per meal. Itis the cheapest quality
dining solution as there isn’tany restaurantin our school.
 Dinner: You can have dinner for the sameprice at the same
restaurantthat you eat at noon; or you can eat in another
restaurantfor around 15€ - 20€ per person; or you can eat at any
Greek fastfood restaurant (3€ for the cheapest sandwich).
Extracost
Optional excursion to Thassos Island. Thetotal cost of the transportation
is 4 – 8€ per person (it depends on the number of the persons).
Paid from Greek School
(from funding of the Project Management and Implementation):
 transportation from your hotel (Keramoti) to school (Nea
Karya) and back.
 transportation from your hotel to Chrysoupoli and back for the
activities on Wednesday morning and the disseminating event
in the evening.
 transportation during the trip to Kavala – Philippi and back to
your hotel.
 entrance to museums, associations and other sights.
 transportation to and from the Visitor's Information Center of
the Nestos River Riparian Forest.
 the tour to Xanthi.
 the Greek sea food meal at Keramoti for teachers.
Activities for the project
 Poetry activity: During this activity students will translatea poem
into their native language so they need to have with them a
mobile device so that they can access the internet and write in
their mother tongue.
 Twinspace: All the inks for the web tools that are going to be used
for the activities will be at the Twinspaceand all the virtual work
will be done through it. Each student should have an account at
the Twinspaceof the project.
 One week before the mobility in Greece all the partners must
have uploaded on the Twispacetheir presentation about the
Activity A8 - my country's migrationhistory.
