1. CONTENTS PAGE DECONSTRUCTION 3
There is no contents as it only says ‘in the mix’ / ‘features’. The ban-
ner red which is just a bit brighter than has a unique mixed font to
represent contents maybe?. It has give the month& the year of the
issue.
Terminology such as ‘puffin’,
‘skunk’, ‘groove’, ‘swinging’ is
used to communicate/relate to
the audience. This might also sug-
gest the demographic of the au-
dience would have to have a
deep interest in hip hop/ Rap
hence should be able to under-
stand those terms.
The house style of the magazine
allows swear words thus aimed at
18+.
The font colour( black and white)
and the font size is used less as
possible. The numbers and the
titles are contrasted. The reader-
ship might only be targeted at
the male(18+) as it mainly has hip
hop male artists and swear words.
Quotes are used to lure the read-
ers into that particular page.
The main picture (one and only)
dominates the whole page. En-
gages directly at the readers as
he is making an eye contact with
his fingers on his chin. His posture
looks serious and a bit intimidat-
ing. The colour of his jacket
blends in with the background—
suggesting fashion isn’t the main
focus of the magazine?
Again a quote is used to engage with the au-
dience with in a personal level which again
lures the readers into that particular page.
