Chicago, Colorado, California
Denver, Colorado or as many know it as the mile high city, exactly one mile above sea level.
Chicago, Illinois holds one of the tallest skylines in the world, including three of the five tallest
buildings in America. The two cities vary dramatically, one is surrounded by Building's and the
other mountains. Chicago has multiple famous buildings and sculptures including the Willis tower.
It's also well known by many as the Sears tower, it is the second tallest skyscraper in America and
eight tallest in the world. One famous sculpture Chicago is known for is the Cloud gate in
Milennium Park, mostly known as the Bean. A famous tradition that many know about around
America is when the Chicago River is dyed green on St. Patrick's Day. Chicago ... Show more

Chicago is mostly populated by Caucasian's (32 %), African Americans (31.4%), and Hispanics
(28.8%). With these percentages so close I creates wide range of culture throughout the city. Denver
is similar in which the three races that populate the city most are Caucasians (53.3%), African
Americans (9.4%), and Hispanics (30.9%). The big difference is that Denver has a higher rate of
Caucasians by 21.3 % and a lower rate of African Americans by 22%, the Hispanic % is very similar
in both cities. Within these races our different forms of relationship status, including Never married,
married, separated, widowed, divorce. Denver's adult population consists mostly of married couples
(37.8%) and never married (43.7%). The remaining demographics are divorced partners (11%),
separated (5.1%), and widowed (2.4%). Chicago compares to Denver in which married couples
(33.9%) and never married people (49.8%) are the highest percentages by quite the margin.
Chicago's divorced (8%), separated (5.7%), and widowed (2.5%) adult's percentages are just slightly
different to Denver's. One last note is the male and female ratio, Denver's gender ratio is 50.1:49.9
or just about 1:1. On the other hand, Chicago differs, there male to female ratio is 51.5:48.5,
consisting of less women unfortunately. Denver and Chicago are two very different cities, but when

Stigma Within the Fast Food Industry Essay
When working at a fast food restaurant, more often than not it is accompanied with a stigma. People
tend to believe that those who work in fast food restaurants are not capable of anything better. They
assume people working at fast food restaurants are slow and uneducated, or they simply look down
upon them because these jobs have become known as "dead–end jobs." This so–called "dead–end
job" is what people might describe as low–wage labor that employees have a susceptibility to
become trapped in. Fast food employee's face many challenges, morally and socially.

I had a firm understanding of what was happening around me, and I was able to perform my job
with relative ease.
To explain the how the fast food industry affects the lives of it's employees, I have prepared a set of
questions to ask employees who have a fundamental experience of working in the fast food industry
(appendix[i]). I also have a similar set of questions to ask people who have never worked in the fast
food industry (appendix[ii]).
Someone working at a fast–food restaurant is bound to face torment either by their peers, and have
the social stain of being viewed as poor or dirty. In a personal interview with another fast food
worker, Whitney said, "...a lot of them [fast food workers] do tend to have that lower class
background. Also, whenever you find adults working in the fast food industry, it generally means
they lack an education." A lot of younger adolescents will take jobs at fast food restaurants because
very few places will hire kids when they first get their legal working papers, but fast food
restaurants tend to flood their restaurant with these juvenile employees.
Working in the fast food industry is a differing experience from person to person. The fast food
industry is fast paced, customer oriented, and extremely stressful. In an interview with someone who
has never worked in a fast food restaurant, Wade says "[t]he main difference between my job, and
that of fast food, is that I have a greater amount of freedom, and higher rate of pay."

Trip to Colorado
My family and I had planned a trip to Denver, Colorado to visit my brother and his girlfriend. It took
months and months to finally have it all planned out, but we finally figured everything out. We left
for the cities on a Wednesday night. We stayed in a sketchy hotel in the cities by the airport and flew
out of Minneapolis around 5:30 a.m. I was so nervous, as it was my very first plane ride. The plane
was quite small. Our plane was delayed due to them having to deice the plane due to all the cold. I
suddenly started to feel sick, all my nerves had gotten to me so I reached for the puke bag and puked
everywhere! I was so embarrassed, my family and people around me were laughing so hard at me
because I had gotten myself so worked up. But once the plane started up I felt much better.
As we arrived in Colorado, we went to go get our rental car and then headed to Pikes Peak as we
waited for Jordan and Monet to get off of work. My family had really struggled to find Pikes Peak,
we plugged it into our google maps and it took us to a campground called "Pikes Peak" then it took
us to a playground that was called "Pikes Peak". We laughed and joked around, since we were
getting lost so easily on our first day there. But finally we found the actual Pikes Peak! We drove all
the way to the top! It was so scary driving to the top, the wind was so strong the higher we got.
Mom and I were freaking out because of how high up we were, it was so scary

Risk Management At The Colorado I 70 Monorail Project, A...
Abstract This report applies proactive risk management to the construction of the Colorado I–70
Monorail project, a 155–mile transportation system from Denver, CO to Vail, CO. Risk events and
impacts for the $7.5 billion project are identified based on the five–year construction schedule.
Referencing "Proactive Risk Management" by P. G. Smith and G. M. Merritt, the standard risk
model and the five–step risk management process are described and utilized. This report identifies
and analyzes risks associated with the use of monorail technology, construction scheduling, and
unexpected costs. Through the use and demonstration of Step 1 and Step 2 of the five–step process,
risk likelihood and expected loss for each risk are developed. The results of Step 1 and Step 2 will
be utilized in a subsequent report detailing risk prioritization, action plans, and monitoring risks.
Project Overview
Objective
Risk management is an important task in ensuring the successful construction of the Colorado I–70
Monorail System. The intermediate speed monorail will run from the Front Range of Colorado to
the heart of the Rocky Mountains. The fixed guideway rail system will connect existing public
transportation systems in the Denver metropolitan area to multiple mountain communities. The
route will parallel the existing interstate I–70 and will begin in Denver, CO and will end in Vail, CO.
The objective of the monorail system is to alleviate traffic and improve access to the mountain

College Essay On Homelessness
Homelessness and Service in Denver Colorado
By Cali Arbuckle
Hiking through Rocky Mountain National Park the beauty was overwhelming, the next day our team
was serving in downtown Denver in a Street reach meal service to people suffering from
homelessness. The beauty of the mountains was overwhelming but then we surrounded by this vast
issue of homelessness. Both of these moving experiences, along with many other moments during
the week, that made this trip personally impactful and helped me to see the world in a more vivid
light. Going on the end of the year service trip to Denver really opened my eyes to how many people
are affected by homelessness. Homelessness can have many causes and can happen to anyone. In
our societal system today once someone has reached poverty and become homeless it is very hard to
recover from this cycle of poverty. The Denver community is working to help alleviate this cycle of
poverty from their community. It was great to see that even though this is a huge problem in Denver
they are taking steps, however small in light of the current situation, to improve their community.
On our trip, we worked with DenUM Urban Ministries which is one such place trying to educate the
public and help give aid to those who are homeless. Through this program, our group had the
opportunity to learn about homelessness through hands–on activities. Showing the logistics of what
poverty looks like on a personal level in a families finances and the tough choices

As I entered the Starbucks, I surveyed the room in search of my older sister. Her black Nike
backpack stood out amongst the other colorful ones on the floor. Taking my place in the empty seat
beside my sister, all three women at the table greeted me with warm smiles. Their smiles seemed to
pacify my anxiety of meeting new people.A small white sign sat at the corner of the table reading "
Share a story for some candy!". Recognizing two out of the three women at the table I introduced
myself to the young lady beside me. As she continued the conversation, they began to find things
they could find in common. " Oh, you go to Colorado Community Church too? I love your Pastor!"
As the conversation came to an end, we all exchanged hugs and contact information.I walked with
both Renee and her partner to another meeting space on campus.

The City Of Arvada And The City Of Compton
The two cities selected for this report are to include the city of Arvada and the City of Compton.
Both coming from a long distance, the reports and statistical number between the two are jaw
dropping. The major broad topics that will be focused on will include but not limited to population,
education, and wealth statistics such as poverty level and income level.
The first city selected for this report is found just north west of the capital of Colorado. The city of
Arvada, was founded in 1870 and incorporated in 1904. A brief history and statistic on the city of
Arvada is that the city has grown in population size tremendously. Arvada has boomed in population
size in recent years, for example according to the U.S Census Bureau the total ... Show more content

116,000 residents for its 32 square millage.
The second city also selected for this report is located just south of Los Angeles California, the City
of Compton founded on May 11, 1888 was the eighth city to be incorporated. A brief history on
Compton and its population is that according to the U.S Census Bureau in 2010, the total population
size was at 96,455 residents. This number of residents is lower than what was expected to see in
California. After further investigation in the website, after five–year span in 2015, the population of
Compton raised to 97,955 residents. Although the smaller population growth isn't what it seems to
be like in Arvada Colorado. But in 2016 in Compton California the total population size decreased
to 97,550 residents. A decrease in 400 residents within the one year span. Both cities roughly over
1,000 miles apart do share some similarities and differences between them.
The first pivotal concept between the two cities is on education. Education is key to moving up
within the world. Being more educated in this life means that you gain status, and gain power.
Education is a solution for many problems that may arise in the future and have a significant impact
on various studies including incarceration rate. Nonetheless, the data found on the percentage of
high school graduates between these two cities is very important

Kneel for the Cause
The first amendment of the United States is Freedom of Speech. What exactly is freedom of speech?
Freedom of speech is "Congress not prohibiting the free exercise or abridging the freedom of
speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the
government for a redress of grievances". In the majorities eyes it means the people of the United
States should have the right to express their disapproval and speak out on social injustices. In the
NFL today several major superstars have used their fame and staked their name on standing for what
they believe is right. Collin Kapernick the ex–49ner superstar quarter back is an example of an
individual willing to stand up against injustices not done to himself , but to be the symbol that social
injustices today is not okay. His protest by kneeling on one knee and his fist balled into the air; a
symbol of pride and unity has paved the way for other athletes to follow his lead. "From big–city
stadiums to small–town high school fields, those broad stripes and bright stars are the expected
musical preamble to our ballgames. Today the anthem is at the center of an angry national debate.

it means the entirety of American experience" the (Brady, 1). The president of the United States

The Negative Effects Of Gentrification
Gentrification Gentrification is the process of renovating and improving a house or district so that is
conforms to middle class taste. The term is often used negatively, suggesting the displacement of
poor communities by rich outsiders. Often people who are displaced cannot find affordable housing,
and this can lead to homelessness. Gentrification is hurting Colorado families because 1.) it causes
prices increases for Denver metro rents, 2.) it displaces and breaks up families, and 3.) offers no
affordable housing options for those displaced. () Definition. They kick people out of their house
and then they raise the rent so they can't come back, they target specifically poor neighborhoods to
make more money. One of the biggest impact is that it may destroy the culture of the neighborhood
and friends and family have a chance of turning homeless. One of the main reasons is to make more
money on the neighborhood because its to poor and they need to make more money. (4, June 2017)
(Wikipedia)The term is usually used negatively.
The first piece is the term and the definition. The second piece is the impact on friends, family, and
culture. I think ____________________ because I think that gentrification is still getting worst and
worst every day, The reason being is that the rent is always increasing and hasn't stopped yet. The
impacts are that the population decreases in gentrified areas. And the ones who left are struggling to
find a new home. Some evidence is that globeville saw an increase of 67% in home values in the last
year, more people from out of the states come to denver colorado and don't mind paying the rent
here because they don't live here. Due to the new marijuana law and how it was first legal in
colorado made people from around the states move to colorado which increased the population and
which increased the rent cost. It is getting worst and worst because the rent is constantly increasing
over the years and that makes the low income people struggle and then later on can lead
homelessness, and struggle to find a new home. The population is also increasing with more people
from other states so they don't really mind paying high rents simply because they haven't been here
long enough

Increase the Funding of Colorado K-12 Public Schools
The school years are the grounding years of one's learning. Schools have a major role in
transforming children to become reliable citizens and contributing members of society. Education
paves the way for someone to have a great career. Education builds character and gives someone the
skills to succeed in life. The national average of the yearly per–student spending in Public K–12
Schools is about $12,000. Students who attend schools in states with higher per pupil spending
outperform students in states with a low per–pupil spending. The students score higher on the
National Assessment of Academic Progress (NAEP) tests. They are also better prepared for college
and are able to handle the transition to the college workload.
Students from lower spending states are beginning college with a lower level of knowledge and
having to "catch up". Some students are not able to do this and will drop out of college. Colorado
has a High School dropout rate of 23.1 %. Only 21 out of 100 students who enter college in
Colorado graduate with a certificate or degree .Colorado funding falls way below the national
average. In Colorado, the average is only $6,577. This is 46% less than the national average. This
amount is unacceptable, Coloradoans need to step up and help fund the future of our children.

Obesity Is The Fast Food Industry
There is an issue in America, if not across all nations, which begs discussion. The issue plaguing
society is the fast food industry. It matters not if you are young, old, rich or poor; the fast food
industry is almost impossible to ignore in this era. One may raise the question of what exactly is fast
food. Merriam–Webster defines defines fast–food as food "designed for ready availability, use, or
consumption and with little consideration given to quality or significance" (1). Diving deeper into
this issue beyond the significant lack of nutritional value, lies not only the consumption of fast food
but also the constant bombardment of advertising society as a whole is exposed to. Think about it:
how long can a person watch a popular television channel without seeing a commercial for a popular
fast food chain? How long can one listen to a favored radio station without hearing about the latest
and greatest hamburger? In addition, a person cannot spend much time on the internet without
seeing an advertisement for fried chicken. The concept of the fast food industry and the tremendous
effects their advertising schemes can have on our subconscious will be the main focus of this essay.
In describing the history of the fast food industry, POSitive Magazine recounts that the concept may
have originated in Ancient Rome with vendors focusing on the masses of people housed in crowded
areas lacking room for personal food preparation. This idea made its way to America and

Argumentative Speech About Basketball
Today Chris Herren is an inspiration to people who might be fighting some type of illness or
addiction. Going back 20–plus years ago, Herren was a basketball prodigy from Fall River, Mass.,
who had the weight of the world on his shoulders. He had the attention of the national and local
Massachusetts media surrounding his game. Looking back at everything, it seemed like a lot for
someone to deal with at such a young age. Although a five–star prospect on the court, Herren
secretly battled an illness off of it: addiction. This would take him to the lowest of lows and hit him
and his family harder than anything imaginable. Now a motivational speaker delivering his message
of staying clean, Herren spoke about his heights as a basketball player and struggling with drug
dependence while trying to keep his basketball career intact and family together. Damian

for Fall River, Mass. What was life like growing up? It's a tough blue–collar, basketball community;
basketball is the heartbeat to the city. I was fortunate enough to grow up in a culture where there was
a lot of attention and respect for the game of basketball based on tradition. You come from a family

Denver Colorado Case Study
Denver Colorado had a problem where the police did not have a positive relationship with the lower
status residents in the community. To try to help bridge the gap between lower status residents and
police, the Denver Police Department created the Law Enforcement Advocate Program (LEA)
(Addison, 2011). The Denver Police Department met with the Denver Juvenile and Family Justice
Treatment Accountability for Safer Communities (DJFJ TASC) to try to come up with a plan on how
to improve the community's perception of the police and have the community gain trust in the

Apartment Complex project. The goal of this project was to help enhance the Villa Park Apartment
Complex development. At one point the apartment complex was very upscale but after several years
and new management, the apartment complex became very rundown and full of drug and gang
activity, graffiti, abandoned vehicles, and gunfire (Michaud, 1995). Officers used a vacant apartment
at the front of the complex and turned it into a store. Having a police operated store in this complex
helped create trust between the residents and the police. The storefront was also a base for foot beat
officers who were trying to help improve the area (Michaud, 1995). Some of the responses to this
project were to have a good amount of Spanish speaking officers at the storefront, since this was a
mostly Spanish speaking community (Michaud, 1995). Also, officers brought in their horses and K–
9 units to attract the children in the complex, which would in turn, attract the parents. One response
that the officers could have done differently is to have possibly advertised the storefront a little
more. If the community members had know that the items in the store were free and that the officers
were just there to build a relationship with them, they may have been a little less hesitant to go into

My Goals At High School
One of the greatest feelings in this world is achieving our goals. Since I was six years of age, I 've
been wrestling. Since day one of my training, my goal was to be a wrestling champion. Ever since I
first watched how cool the high school boys looked, they were beasts with blood gushing out of
there noses, and eyes swollen shut and black. I 've always wanted to be great wrestler, and I wanted
to be one of the best wrestlers in the state of Colorado. To accomplish my goal, I knew it was going
to be a long and challenging process. So throughout the years, I knew that I would have to push
myself and wrestle when ever I could, and never give up on my goal.

The Negative Impacts Of Gentrification : Causes And Cons
Recently Denver Colorado has gone through a dramatic increase of new residents, causing many
communities to be hurt by gentrification. The definition of Gentrification according to
dictionary.com means, "the buying and renovation of houses and stores in deteriorated urban
neighborhoods by upper– or middle–income families or individuals, thus improving property values
but often displacing low–income families and small businesses." This definition alone proves that
gentrification can have a negative impact. Although many people will overlook the negative impact
because the positive can be a much more luxurious way of living. Yes, there are good things that
come out of gentrification such as an increase in school quality or drops in crime are usually
reflected in home prices. At the end of the day the negative outcomes outweigh the positive such as
displaced youth, historical landmarks demolished, high level of vacancy rate in newly built
apartments. Allowing gentrification to continue at this speed may result in the lower middle class to
disappear. Which is why we must work together to decrease gentrification so that citizens have a
chance at the best life possible.
With all these new residents moving into Denver it is causing established residents to become
displaced because they can no longer afford to live in the new upscale community that has just been
built. After living in a home all their lives children start to become displaced with their families and
begin to move

The Brooklyn Nets Offseason Case Study
The Brooklyn Nets Offseason: A Sensible Plan for the Future The Brooklyn Nets have made a name
for blockbuster deals over the last few summers. Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov has not been shy of
spending money and laughing at the luxury tax if it meant making a contender. This summer, the
Nets have been singing a different tune; making moves to save money and diminish expectations.
Addition by Subtraction The "biggest" move the Nets made this offseason was letting go of All–Star
point guard Deron Williams. The Williams experiment did not work and it was rumored that he
didn't get along with coaches and teammates. The Nets wanted to get younger and more athletic, and
with Williams gone, they were on the right path to doing that. The Nets used ... Show more content

They believe Johnson will play better this season with Williams no longer on the team. Plus, taking
back both Haywood and Varejao's' contracts would have kept the team near the luxury tax line. If
their gamble pays off and Johnson plays well, they can try again in moving him by the trade
deadline for a better price. The End Game The Nets aren't going to win a championship this year. I
think I can safely say that. They should use this year to build chemistry with their brand new team

The Pikes Peak Gold Rush and Civil and Indian Wars
Until gold was revealed in the Rocky Mountains in 1859, the native population was virtually
undisturbed by outside influence and the prairies were freely used to sustain life. When the gold was
discovered, a whole new attitude came across the land. The population exploded and that means that
there came change. With the discovery of gold, the invaders from the east would make those
changes. Just like the unearthing of this widely sought out metal a decade earlier in California by the
forty–niners, the fifty–niners forced themselves in to stake and protect their claims. With these
changes, those who had original title to the land would find themselves under new ideas, new laws,
and a new way of life. But, just because there is gold to be had, not everybody will be successful.
There will be new wealth and bitter disappointment. So, the question is who benefitted the most
from this discovery and who got the wrong end of the stick? The first set of losers were the "go
backs". No census was ever taken to count the number of people who lefts their homes to go to the
mountains, but it was estimated that the number totaled a 100,000 new immigrants by historians
with about only 50,000 making it. The work was hard and the returns were disappointing. Some
miners made it rich, but most didn't. What little bit of gold that they did find was used for food,
housing, and supplies. So after a couple of weeks, half of them either started new towns, farms,
businesses to sell much needed

In the beginning, the Boulder Valley was home to the Southern Arapaho tribe of Native American.
Then gold seekers searching for their fortunes arrived around 1858 and soon a settlement became a

focused on adult education and enlightenment. As the city continued to grow and prosper a desire to
preserve Boulder's nature beauty increased and the Boulder Parks and Recreation Department
(BPRD) was created in 1961. By looking at Boulder's mission statement, the structure of its

Traffic Cameras Should be Forbidden Essay examples
With the increasing emergence of traffic cameras around the nation, there has emerged a debate
about whether the cameras are effectively functioning to keep drivers safe or whether they are just
another source of revenue for cites. Facts have proven that the purpose for the traffic cameras is
simply generating more money for the cities. The estimated amount of money that the city of
Denver will be making in 2011 from these cameras (Kaminsky)–excluding the ones recently put up–
a grand estimation total of seven million dollars... "According to the Insurance Institute for Highway
Safety more than 550 communities in the United States use red light cameras." (Urie) Research

(Maass). Accidents increasing more and more are simple to explain...
"The intersection of Alameda and Abeline Street had two more crashes the year after the cameras
were installed versus the year prior to installation, going from 37 to 39. There were 24 crashes at the
Illiff Avenue/Blackhawk Street intersection the year before cameras were installed and 2 the year
after."(Owen)
Drivers who are aware of the abusive cameras are constantly caught up trying to avoid getting an
outrageous ticket; therefore, in attempt to avoid them, drivers are unexpectedly and furiously
coming to abrupt stops. In result of the urgent and sudden stop of driver A (the first one to cross the
intersection), braking quickly doesn't give driver B neither enough time or physical room to move
out of the way, consequently resulting in a rear–end collision, sometimes involving more than just
two drivers. The driver's panic to evade the ticket ends up caught up in the misfortunes of an even
sadder circumstance. Leading reasons for this is thanks to the intentional decrease of yellow–light
length times. Studies have shown that since the installment of the cameras there has been intentional
scheming to cut the period of yellow light to catch as many victims as possible. It has been verified
that increasing yellow–lights to at least one second more would decrease the number of accidents by
over 45%. (Maass). An extra reason for which there is

Saturday Value Play Analysis

Wall is in this midst of one his most productive stretches of this season, having double–doubled in
six of the past seven games. The matchup today against the Knicks is about as good as it gets, with
Jose Calderon performing as one of the worst defending point guards in the NBA. New York ranks
in the bottom five in FanDuel points allowed to opposing point guards over the past three weeks.
Wall has a great chance to earn his third straight triple double today at home. Shelvin Mack @ CHI,

the most sexy option in the pivot, RoLo keeps coming back into DFS relevance every few weeks
like a zombie that just won't die. Lopez has been another beneficiary of Porzingis' second–half fade,
which has help increase his scoring output post All–Star break. Lopez has scored in double digits 10

The Fast–Food Franchise
Introduction
The case explains there is one fast food franchise operating in a medium–sized metropolitan area.
The owner of that particular fast food franchise holds the right to operate that fast food restaurant in
that particular metropolitan area. There is only single outlet of that fast food franchise which is
currently operating and is very popular as well. Since there is only one outlet and is very popular
there are often customers who wait to get service from that fast food. Hence considering this
problem and keeping in mind and realizing the shortage of the fast food outlet, its owner is now
thinking to add one or more outlet to that running outlet. So, before owner actually derives to final

consider various tradeoffs in opening one additional site compared to opening several additional

Excessive Survivalism Is A Sport
Excessive survivalism is a sport in when athletes are obsessed with winning and will do anything to
achieve that goal of winning. Players will find ways to bend the rules or cheat just to achieve the
victory over their opponent. The need to win games will overrule the player's morals and beliefs as a
person. This is a huge problem athletes face when it comes to sports. They become so obsessed with
winning that it becomes the only objective they focus on. Some athletes even put their health at risk.
In some cases athletes will sustain an injury and will not let the team know so they can take the
proper protocol just so they can they can stay in the game. In other cases, a player may do
something that is considered dirty or against the rules just to get the edge over their opponent, and
that might not be how the player is as a person outside of their sport but when it comes to the game
they will do anything they need to do survive and win. Runaway individualism in sports is when a
player is all about their self. Players that tend to have runaway individualism are the ones who are
only worried about their own success instead of team success. These players do not look at their
team as a family, they see their teammates as individuals who they just have to share the field or
court with. These players usually do not have a stable home, they bounce around from team to team
because they are labeled as selfish players. A perfect example of runaway individualism is when

Why I Love Thanksgiving !
I love Thanksgiving! It's that wonderful time of year where you, you know, give thanks for what you
have. There's turkey, mashed potatoes, that cranberry stuff that seems obligatory at every
thanksgiving table, though nobody really eats it or knows what it's for... PARADES, and staying up
late to try and avoid being crushed by the shoes of DEMENTED shoppers! So much to be thankful
for. It's such a contradictory holiday. On one hand, we're volunteering at food banks to make sure
more people have more to be thankful for. But as SOON as it's midnight (and now even before), our
mind shifts back to US! BLACK FRIDAY: where people get elbowed in the face for a 15% discount
on an Xbox bundle that's going to gather dust over the next three weeks. As ... Show more content

Let's begin our shopping by showing what kind of major promotions there are on benevolence. An
NBC article out of Toledo, Ohio showed how a woman went crazy because she didn't get her
McDonald's Chicken Nuggets. She threatened the restaurant employee, telling him that she was
going to kill him, all the while screaming at the top of her lungs. The encounter ultimately ended
when she punched through the glass on the drive through window, got into her car, and sped off at
high speed. Over chicken nuggets. That McDonald's doesn't serve at 10:30 am. Like the employee
tried explaining to her. While our crazy lady was jailed for this action, this woman embodies results
of a Public Agenda Research Group survey stating nearly eight in 10 respondents said lack of
respect and courtesy is a serious national problem; 61% agreed that there was more rude behavior
than in the past; people blamed parents for not instilling courtesy in their children, and popular
culture for encouraging rude behavior. [Maybe find another example of things like the chicken
nugget story.] Today, we have to worry about injustices. Today, we have to worry about people
committing barbaric acts against one another. Today, a parent has to mentally toughen their child
before starting them in Kindergarten. Research over time has shown us that children as young as 12
months can be aggressive when relating to their peers. This is a hard

  • 1. Chicago, Colorado, California Denver, Colorado or as many know it as the mile high city, exactly one mile above sea level. Chicago, Illinois holds one of the tallest skylines in the world, including three of the five tallest buildings in America. The two cities vary dramatically, one is surrounded by Building's and the other mountains. Chicago has multiple famous buildings and sculptures including the Willis tower. It's also well known by many as the Sears tower, it is the second tallest skyscraper in America and eight tallest in the world. • 5. Stigma Within the Fast Food Industry Essay When working at a fast food restaurant, more often than not it is accompanied with a stigma. People tend to believe that those who work in fast food restaurants are not capable of anything better. They assume people working at fast food restaurants are slow and uneducated, or they simply look down upon them because these jobs have become known as "dead–end jobs." This so–called "dead–end job" is what people might describe as low–wage labor that employees have a susceptibility to become trapped in. Fast food employee's face many challenges, morally and socially. High school students take jobs at fast–food restaurants because they are convenient and can work around their schedules. High school students who work in fast food use the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I had a firm understanding of what was happening around me, and I was able to perform my job with relative ease. To explain the how the fast food industry affects the lives of it's employees, I have prepared a set of questions to ask employees who have a fundamental experience of working in the fast food industry (appendix[i]). I also have a similar set of questions to ask people who have never worked in the fast food industry (appendix[ii]). Someone working at a fast–food restaurant is bound to face torment either by their peers, and have the social stain of being viewed as poor or dirty. In a personal interview with another fast food worker, Whitney said, "...a lot of them [fast food workers] do tend to have that lower class background. Also, whenever you find adults working in the fast food industry, it generally means they lack an education." A lot of younger adolescents will take jobs at fast food restaurants because very few places will hire kids when they first get their legal working papers, but fast food restaurants tend to flood their restaurant with these juvenile employees. Working in the fast food industry is a differing experience from person to person. The fast food industry is fast paced, customer oriented, and extremely stressful. In an interview with someone who has never worked in a fast food restaurant, Wade says "[t]he main difference between my job, and that of fast food, is that I have a greater amount of freedom, and higher rate of pay." ... • 9. Descriptive Essay Experience Aby Adams 3rd hour Trip to Colorado My family and I had planned a trip to Denver, Colorado to visit my brother and his girlfriend. It took months and months to finally have it all planned out, but we finally figured everything out. We left for the cities on a Wednesday night. We stayed in a sketchy hotel in the cities by the airport and flew out of Minneapolis around 5:30 a.m. I was so nervous, as it was my very first plane ride. The plane was quite small. Our plane was delayed due to them having to deice the plane due to all the cold. I suddenly started to feel sick, all my nerves had gotten to me so I reached for the puke bag and puked everywhere! I was so embarrassed, my family and people around me were laughing so hard at me because I had gotten myself so worked up. But once the plane started up I felt much better. As we arrived in Colorado, we went to go get our rental car and then headed to Pikes Peak as we waited for Jordan and Monet to get off of work. My family had really struggled to find Pikes Peak, we plugged it into our google maps and it took us to a campground called "Pikes Peak" then it took us to a playground that was called "Pikes Peak". We laughed and joked around, since we were getting lost so easily on our first day there. But finally we found the actual Pikes Peak! We drove all the way to the top! It was so scary driving to the top, the wind was so strong the higher we got. Mom and I were freaking out because of how high up we were, it was so scary ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Risk Management At The Colorado I 70 Monorail Project, A... Abstract This report applies proactive risk management to the construction of the Colorado I–70 Monorail project, a 155–mile transportation system from Denver, CO to Vail, CO. Risk events and impacts for the $7.5 billion project are identified based on the five–year construction schedule. Referencing "Proactive Risk Management" by P. G. Smith and G. M. Merritt, the standard risk model and the five–step risk management process are described and utilized. This report identifies and analyzes risks associated with the use of monorail technology, construction scheduling, and unexpected costs. Through the use and demonstration of Step 1 and Step 2 of the five–step process, risk likelihood and expected loss for each risk are developed. The results of Step 1 and Step 2 will be utilized in a subsequent report detailing risk prioritization, action plans, and monitoring risks. Project Overview Objective Risk management is an important task in ensuring the successful construction of the Colorado I–70 Monorail System. The intermediate speed monorail will run from the Front Range of Colorado to the heart of the Rocky Mountains. The fixed guideway rail system will connect existing public transportation systems in the Denver metropolitan area to multiple mountain communities. The route will parallel the existing interstate I–70 and will begin in Denver, CO and will end in Vail, CO. The objective of the monorail system is to alleviate traffic and improve access to the mountain regions ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. College Essay On Homelessness Homelessness and Service in Denver Colorado By Cali Arbuckle Hiking through Rocky Mountain National Park the beauty was overwhelming, the next day our team was serving in downtown Denver in a Street reach meal service to people suffering from homelessness. The beauty of the mountains was overwhelming but then we surrounded by this vast issue of homelessness. Both of these moving experiences, along with many other moments during the week, that made this trip personally impactful and helped me to see the world in a more vivid light. Going on the end of the year service trip to Denver really opened my eyes to how many people are affected by homelessness. Homelessness can have many causes and can happen to anyone. In our societal system today once someone has reached poverty and become homeless it is very hard to recover from this cycle of poverty. The Denver community is working to help alleviate this cycle of poverty from their community. It was great to see that even though this is a huge problem in Denver they are taking steps, however small in light of the current situation, to improve their community. On our trip, we worked with DenUM Urban Ministries which is one such place trying to educate the public and help give aid to those who are homeless. Through this program, our group had the opportunity to learn about homelessness through hands–on activities. Her black Nike backpack stood out amongst the other colorful ones on the floor. Taking my place in the empty seat beside my sister, all three women at the table greeted me with warm smiles. Their smiles seemed to pacify my anxiety of meeting new people.A small white sign sat at the corner of the table reading " Share a story for some candy!". Recognizing two out of the three women at the table I introduced myself to the young lady beside me. As she continued the conversation, they began to find things they could find in common. " Oh, you go to Colorado Community Church too? I love your Pastor!" As the conversation came to an end, we all exchanged hugs and contact information.I walked with both Renee and her partner to another meeting space on campus. The major broad topics that will be focused on will include but not limited to population, education, and wealth statistics such as poverty level and income level. The first city selected for this report is found just north west of the capital of Colorado. The city of Arvada, was founded in 1870 and incorporated in 1904. The second city also selected for this report is located just south of Los Angeles California, the City of Compton founded on May 11, 1888 was the eighth city to be incorporated. A brief history on Compton and its population is that according to the U.S Census Bureau in 2010, the total population size was at 96,455 residents. This number of residents is lower than what was expected to see in California. After further investigation in the website, after five–year span in 2015, the population of Compton raised to 97,955 residents. Although the smaller population growth isn't what it seems to be like in Arvada Colorado. But in 2016 in Compton California the total population size decreased to 97,550 residents. A decrease in 400 residents within the one year span. Both cities roughly over 1,000 miles apart do share some similarities and differences between them. The first pivotal concept between the two cities is on education. Education is key to moving up within the world. Being more educated in this life means that you gain status, and gain power. What exactly is freedom of speech? Freedom of speech is "Congress not prohibiting the free exercise or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances". In the majorities eyes it means the people of the United States should have the right to express their disapproval and speak out on social injustices. In the NFL today several major superstars have used their fame and staked their name on standing for what they believe is right. Collin Kapernick the ex–49ner superstar quarter back is an example of an individual willing to stand up against injustices not done to himself , but to be the symbol that social injustices today is not okay. His protest by kneeling on one knee and his fist balled into the air; a symbol of pride and unity has paved the way for other athletes to follow his lead. "From big–city stadiums to small–town high school fields, those broad stripes and bright stars are the expected musical preamble to our ballgames. • 45. The Negative Effects Of Gentrification Gentrification Gentrification is the process of renovating and improving a house or district so that is conforms to middle class taste. The term is often used negatively, suggesting the displacement of poor communities by rich outsiders. Often people who are displaced cannot find affordable housing, and this can lead to homelessness. Gentrification is hurting Colorado families because 1.) it causes prices increases for Denver metro rents, 2.) it displaces and breaks up families, and 3.) offers no affordable housing options for those displaced. () Definition. They kick people out of their house and then they raise the rent so they can't come back, they target specifically poor neighborhoods to make more money. One of the biggest impact is that it may destroy the culture of the neighborhood and friends and family have a chance of turning homeless. One of the main reasons is to make more money on the neighborhood because its to poor and they need to make more money. (4, June 2017) (Wikipedia)The term is usually used negatively. The first piece is the term and the definition. The second piece is the impact on friends, family, and culture. I think ____________________ because I think that gentrification is still getting worst and worst every day, The reason being is that the rent is always increasing and hasn't stopped yet. The impacts are that the population decreases in gentrified areas. And the ones who left are struggling to find a new home. Some evidence is that globeville saw an increase of 67% in home values in the last year, more people from out of the states come to denver colorado and don't mind paying the rent here because they don't live here. Due to the new marijuana law and how it was first legal in colorado made people from around the states move to colorado which increased the population and which increased the rent cost. It is getting worst and worst because the rent is constantly increasing over the years and that makes the low income people struggle and then later on can lead homelessness, and struggle to find a new home. The population is also increasing with more people from other states so they don't really mind paying high rents simply because they haven't been here long enough ... Schools have a major role in transforming children to become reliable citizens and contributing members of society. Education paves the way for someone to have a great career. Education builds character and gives someone the skills to succeed in life. The national average of the yearly per–student spending in Public K–12 Schools is about $12,000. Students who attend schools in states with higher per pupil spending outperform students in states with a low per–pupil spending. The students score higher on the National Assessment of Academic Progress (NAEP) tests. They are also better prepared for college and are able to handle the transition to the college workload. Students from lower spending states are beginning college with a lower level of knowledge and having to "catch up". Some students are not able to do this and will drop out of college. It matters not if you are young, old, rich or poor; the fast food industry is almost impossible to ignore in this era. One may raise the question of what exactly is fast food. Merriam–Webster defines defines fast–food as food "designed for ready availability, use, or consumption and with little consideration given to quality or significance" (1). Diving deeper into this issue beyond the significant lack of nutritional value, lies not only the consumption of fast food but also the constant bombardment of advertising society as a whole is exposed to. Think about it: how long can a person watch a popular television channel without seeing a commercial for a popular fast food chain? How long can one listen to a favored radio station without hearing about the latest and greatest hamburger? In addition, a person cannot spend much time on the internet without seeing an advertisement for fried chicken. The concept of the fast food industry and the tremendous effects their advertising schemes can have on our subconscious will be the main focus of this essay. In describing the history of the fast food industry, POSitive Magazine recounts that the concept may have originated in Ancient Rome with vendors focusing on the masses of people housed in crowded areas lacking room for personal food preparation. Another project taken on by the Denver Colorado Police Department was the Villa Park Apartment Complex project. At one point the apartment complex was very upscale but after several years and new management, the apartment complex became very rundown and full of drug and gang activity, graffiti, abandoned vehicles, and gunfire (Michaud, 1995). Officers used a vacant apartment at the front of the complex and turned it into a store. Having a police operated store in this complex helped create trust between the residents and the police. The storefront was also a base for foot beat officers who were trying to help improve the area (Michaud, 1995). Some of the responses to this project were to have a good amount of Spanish speaking officers at the storefront, since this was a mostly Spanish speaking community (Michaud, 1995). Also, officers brought in their horses and K– 9 units to attract the children in the complex, which would in turn, attract the parents. One response that the officers could have done differently is to have possibly advertised the storefront a little more. If the community members had know that the items in the store were free and that the officers were just there to build a relationship with them, they may have been a little less hesitant to go into ... • 81. The Negative Impacts Of Gentrification : Causes And Cons Recently Denver Colorado has gone through a dramatic increase of new residents, causing many communities to be hurt by gentrification. The definition of Gentrification according to dictionary.com means, "the buying and renovation of houses and stores in deteriorated urban neighborhoods by upper– or middle–income families or individuals, thus improving property values but often displacing low–income families and small businesses." This definition alone proves that gentrification can have a negative impact. Although many people will overlook the negative impact because the positive can be a much more luxurious way of living. Yes, there are good things that come out of gentrification such as an increase in school quality or drops in crime are usually reflected in home prices. At the end of the day the negative outcomes outweigh the positive such as displaced youth, historical landmarks demolished, high level of vacancy rate in newly built apartments. Allowing gentrification to continue at this speed may result in the lower middle class to disappear. Which is why we must work together to decrease gentrification so that citizens have a chance at the best life possible. With all these new residents moving into Denver it is causing established residents to become displaced because they can no longer afford to live in the new upscale community that has just been built. The Pikes Peak Gold Rush and Civil and Indian Wars Until gold was revealed in the Rocky Mountains in 1859, the native population was virtually undisturbed by outside influence and the prairies were freely used to sustain life. When the gold was discovered, a whole new attitude came across the land. The population exploded and that means that there came change. With the discovery of gold, the invaders from the east would make those changes. Just like the unearthing of this widely sought out metal a decade earlier in California by the forty–niners, the fifty–niners forced themselves in to stake and protect their claims. With these changes, those who had original title to the land would find themselves under new ideas, new laws, and a new way of life. But, just because there is gold to be had, not everybody will be successful. There will be new wealth and bitter disappointment. So, the question is who benefitted the most from this discovery and who got the wrong end of the stick? The first set of losers were the "go backs". No census was ever taken to count the number of people who lefts their homes to go to the mountains, but it was estimated that the number totaled a 100,000 new immigrants by historians with about only 50,000 making it. The work was hard and the returns were disappointing. Some miners made it rich, but most didn't. What little bit of gold that they did find was used for food, housing, and supplies. The city lies where the Great Plains give way to the Rocky Mountains along side the South Plate River which some might believe to be some of the greatest geographical features a city has to offer. Known for its elevation Denver is also one of the faster growing cities in the United States with much to offer. Recently the city has been a great spike in demand for permits for their home improvements and other renovations due to a huge migration of people wanting to live in the beautiful city of Denver. The Denver Planning and Development stated that was a historic demand for permits and even saw a 24 percent increase in permit applications in 2015 for which the department is struggling to keep up (Burns). With the delay certain permit applicants have decided to skip the permit and complete their required projects without them that of course is violating city regulations. However, should anything go wrong the city would be left to blame by the citizens for their huge delays. One resident even said that he needed to finish his garage before winter set, so bypassing the permit would become necessary if the city is unable to reduce the backlog (Burns). Issues such as this one create various problems within a city, aside from regulation violations without inspections or permits some structure could be unstable and even cause damage to the homeowner. The Denver Planning and Development is working overtime, hiring more staff and even acquired a third party permitting firm to try and meet permit demands in order to keep city issues at a ... Case Study: The Fast Food Franchise Lesson 4 Case Study The Fast–Food Franchise Dibish Purkoti International American University MGT620 Operations Management &Supply Chain Rabindra Silwal March 30, 2015 The Fast–Food Franchise Introduction The case explains there is one fast food franchise operating in a medium–sized metropolitan area. The owner of that particular fast food franchise holds the right to operate that fast food restaurant in that particular metropolitan area. • 121. Excessive Survivalism Is A Sport Excessive survivalism is a sport in when athletes are obsessed with winning and will do anything to achieve that goal of winning. Players will find ways to bend the rules or cheat just to achieve the victory over their opponent. The need to win games will overrule the player's morals and beliefs as a person. This is a huge problem athletes face when it comes to sports. They become so obsessed with winning that it becomes the only objective they focus on. Some athletes even put their health at risk. In some cases athletes will sustain an injury and will not let the team know so they can take the proper protocol just so they can they can stay in the game. In other cases, a player may do something that is considered dirty or against the rules just to get the edge over their opponent, and that might not be how the player is as a person outside of their sport but when it comes to the game they will do anything they need to do survive and win. Runaway individualism in sports is when a player is all about their self. Players that tend to have runaway individualism are the ones who are only worried about their own success instead of team success. These players do not look at their team as a family, they see their teammates as individuals who they just have to share the field or court with. These players usually do not have a stable home, they bounce around from team to team because they are labeled as selfish players. A perfect example of runaway individualism is when ... Eggspectation is a mid–Atlantic restaurant chain that provides quality, fresh ingredients in every bite. Despite its witty name, it does not only serve eggs. Eggspectation also serves lunch and dinner, but it is known for its breakfast. Nicole is located at the Ellicott City, Maryland location, which is the most successful of the five locations owned by Mid–Atlantic Eateries. She was an external hire unlike many of the current managers that work there. My interview with Nicole reviews how her role as a manager affects the planning process, human resource decisions, and ethical decisions as a leader. As the Assistant General Manager, Nicole described her roles as "wearing many hats." She said her primary duties are guest relations, food safety and sanitation, coaching, scheduling, labor control, inventory, payroll, food quality and consistency, interviewing, hiring, and new hire orientation. I would classify Nicole as a front–line manager with some middle–level manager qualities. She interacts directly with guests as well as with her employees, but she also has lower–level managers that report to her. First, Nicole is in charge of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Portland Trailblazers The Trailblazers are coming off of a season in which they immensely exceeded expectations, so much so, this year the Trailblazers are a darling dark horse team among many experts (including my–self). Damian Lillard is among my favorites for the MVP award and scoring title. He took an enormous step forward last season, and I expect that production to continue into this season. Each season Lillard has increased his scoring output, played in at least 75 games, and has shot at least 84 percent from the free throw line. The Trailblazers didn't lose any players of significance this past offseason and they are amongst the youngest teams in the league. Their starting line–up is incredibly athletic and will be one of the most fun teams to watch. 3. Oklahoma City Thunder Many peg Russell Westbrook as an MVP favorite due to the departure of Kevin Durant, and I don't blame them. Look back to the 2014 season, a season in which Westbrook was practically a triple–double machine in the absence of Durant. Westbrook is the clear go–to guy and he should lead the Thunder in almost every major statistical category. In today's NBA, a team needs more than one star, and that is something the Thunder doesn't have, which could prove to be detrimental to their playoff chances. Don't get me wrong; I do like the additions the Thunder made this past offseason. Bringing in Victor Oladipo, who could potentially fill that role as the second star if he manages to make an enormous leap, was a great move. But, still, it would be hard for any team that loses a player with the talent of Durant to repeat their success. Even with all that said, I do think the Thunder will make the playoffs as a low seed in the West. The talent of Westbrook combined with the continued development of Oladipo, Steven Adams, and Enes Kanter will be enough for the Thunder to sneak in as a lower tiered ... This is crucial for CUNY's student body because CUNY students who were STEM students at their community colleges need to be retained when they transfer to a senior school. The National Science Board mentions that one of the primary barriers "is the lack of articulation of coursework in the two–year and four–year sectors." Students also face other challenges such as adjusting to a new campus environment and dealing with lack of information for crucial processes such as financial aid and registration. One policy that exists to shorten the gap between STEM transfer of community colleges and senior schools is curriculum articulation and alignment.
