2. •Josh Shandell serves as the founder and president of Cooking for a Cause, a nonprofit
University of Michigan community service organization that prepares gourmet meals
for an Ann Arbor, Michigan, homeless shelter. A junior in the Ross School of Business,

3. •Founded in 2012, Cooking for a Cause secured donations of time for “cooking days”
at commercial kitchens in the area, as well as $500 in start-up costs, by reaching out to
community members, institutions, and other campus groups. The money allowed
Cooking for a Cause members to create a budget for nutritious, high-quality
ingredients.
4. •Today, with donations of over $4,000 and a membership of more than 45 students,
the club comes together once a month to prepare food for delivery to 35 individuals
at a local shelter. All Cooking for a Cause meals are cooked and transported in
accordance with local health and safety regulations.
