This is a two-day Terrazzo Polishing Project in Ironbridge, Shropshire. The Terrazzo tile floor was over 50 years old. Youtube URL There were a few issues to be resolved. 1. There was a lot of lippage across the floor. 2. The floor was not flat and slightly uneven. 3. The terrazzo finish was grimy and well worn 4. There were lots of areas of lost grout that needed filling. The floor was ground, honed and polished to a beautiful finish.

This is a 2 Day Terrazzo Polishing Project In
Ironbridge Shropshire
● Terrazzo tile floor over 50 years old
● A lot of lippage - uneven tiles
● Dull and well worn
● Lot of areas of lost grout
● Originally quoted for a mid-sheen finish
● Customer’s wife preferred a high polish finish
● No problem

Day 1
● Started by installing protection against splashes
● Ground floor with 30 grit diamonds
● Floor uneven so need more passes to remove the lippage and smooth
the floor
● Mostly no skirtings so could grind up to the wall
● Had to hand grind round the window, a book-case, doorway and a
small amount in the corners.
● Then used copper-bond transitional diamonds to remove the scratch
marks caused by the 30 grit diamonds and prepare the floor for honing.
● Applied a densifier to toughen the cement and help achieve a high
polish

● Filled the areas of lost grout with a red brown resin filler
● While waiting for the resin to cure used hand tools to
hone and polish the edges
● Once the filler cured started honing the floor with resin
diamonds to a high sheen finish
● Polished the floor with polishing powder to a high, gloss
shine
● Applied an impregnating sealer to help protect the floor
against spills and make the floor easier to keep clean
● Customer delighted with the finish.
