This guide explains how to create a backup of your files on Windows 7 computer.
To create a backup of your system in Windows 7, follow these steps:
1. Click Start
2. Go to Control Panel
3. Go to System and Security
4. Click Backup and Restore
For a faster route: click Start, type backup in the search field, and then click on the
Backup and Restore option from the search results list.

5. At the Back up or restore your files screen, click Set up backup

If you plan to save the backup on a network, browse to the desired location on the network. After
you type the network credentials, click OK.
Choose Let Windows choose (recommended)
Choose Let me Choose.
You can opt for Let me choose and select individual files and folders to backup.
Click Next

Choose your First User, check it.
UNCHECK all, except for first user
At the lower portion UNCHECK include system image. Note this is important

user)
How to create a backup on Windows 8 or 8.1 system
Before you begin, make sure you’re logged in as an Second User.
The instructions are:
1. Go to Settings
Settings Icon in Windows 8.1
2. Go to Control Panel
3. Under System and Security, click Save backup copies of your files with File History

4. The utility software should now load
5. Select a destination where to save your backup
6. Click Turn on to start the backup process.

You can save the backup on a network.
If you save the backup on a network, you need browse to add the desired location on the
network, then type the network credentials and click OK.
Browse your Win8 shared folder on the server.
7. The backup process will now start. This may take a while, depending on the final size of the file.

Start by erasing your Windows 7 and Windows 8 user’s file.
Local Disk C: > Users > First User > Erase its Files

How to restore a backup in Windows 7
The instructions to restore a backup file using the Backup and Restore utility are:
1. Click Start
2. Go to Control Panel
3. Go to System and Security
4. Click Backup and Restore
Or type backup in the search box at Start and click the Backup and Restore items from
the search results list.
5. At the Back up or restore your files screen, click Restore my files.

6. Browse to locate the backup file
7. Click Next
8. Select a location where you want to restore the backup file
9. Click Restore
10. The restore process will now begin. This process may take a while depending on how large the
backup file is.
11. When the process is complete, click Finish

How to restore a backup in Windows 8.1 system
Before you restore a backup file, please log in as an Administrator.
The instructions are:
1. Click Search or press the Windows and C keys to open the Charm Bar
2. Type restore in the search box
3. Click Restore your files with File History from the search results list

4. The software should now load
5. Search and locate for your backup, select it, then click the refresh button at the bottom of the
wizard to restore it
6. The restore process should now begin. This may take a while, depending on how large is your
backup file.
