In coming to our final decision on what our film should
contain and what we should reconsider, we thought
about the practicality of our ideas. In trying to find a
story that is also reasonable, in terms of resources and
accessibility, we had to compromise to reach our final
narrative….
3. Narrative
• There isn’t a clear narrative in our opening as we’ve decided to follow the James bond “sky fall” opening
where its clear, but gives a sense of ideas of where the rest of the film is headed to without giving too much
away.
• Its starts of with establishing shots of the houses, cars and surroundings. It then moves unto news reports
about a murderer/kidnapper on the loose and then we pan into two children, brushing there teeth and
getting ready for bed.
• From then onwards moves to the mother , shouting for them to get them bed ad tucking them in.
• The next scene reveals the murderer/ kidnapper sneaking into the house and making his way upstairs. The
camera the zooms in to ausca’s face( little boy) indicating that the murderer/kidnapper has got him. The
opening then abruptly ends with the thriller poster title coming up saying “LIGHTS” .
• We like our opening as it leaves the audience wanting more and wanting to find out what else is going to
happen . by leaving on a cliff hanger this adds to the suspense and thrill which ultimately conforms to thriller
generic conventions.

mouthwash.Then they argue and squabble over it *
tochi:give me the mouthwash
ausca:no, I want it!

6. Soundtrack and planning
We decided to use a website where we could
legally make our own music and listen to other
peoples music to use for our thriller. This is a
recommended site sued my windows movie
maker (the software we used to create our
thriller).
We also used youtube and sound cloud to listen
to different thriller openings to inspire ours.
8. Locations
We have decided as a team that our filming
location will be in Enfield island village,
Brimsdown and Ponders end in my house.
This is because my team members live there
and we can base ourselves. The characters
also lived 5 minuet car/bus journey away
from each of these locations. Therefore it as
easily accessible each the cast members and
my director and I. These areas were therefore
familiar to all of us, and therefore we know
exactly which locations within the village will
be necessary to us. For instance big houses
and busy road for establishing shots
9. Costume and propp
Antagonist(Samuel benson)
The antagonists face will be concealed in a balaclava and the hoodie will be tied
up. This is so no facial expression is exposed, in order to add enigma and
mystery to the fearful character. This means nothing can be distinguished of his
face, which is very common within the thriller genre in order to keep the
audience in suspense. The colour will be black to represent darkness and evil,
yet the eye and mouth holes symbolise he is watching and his human
capabilities. He will be dressed in a black hoody, with black jeans and shoes to
conform to the stereotypical thriller genre, of the antagonist being in dark
clothing to symbolise evil and mystery. This will allow the audience to feel
included and have acknowledgement of the good and bad characters within the
film.
10. Costume and prop
Protagonist (Ausca anunobi)
The victim protagonist ausca
will be dressed in pyjamas, in
order to reflect his childish
innocence and to forewarn
the audience that this could
cause him to fall into unhelp
able danger.
The other victim protagonist Tochi, will be
dressed in pyjamas and a white housecoat,
to produce a contrast between the dark and
evil figure and the two victims. The white
will symbolise to the audience her
happiness, innocence and naivety to the
day, allowing them to understand that she
will be an extremely easy target-as well as
her brother- to the antagonist. She’s also
wearing pyjamas to represent her laid back
approach to the night, as she is unaware
that danger is headed her way. It will put
the audience into suspense, as the pyjamas
symbolise the normality of the day she is
enduring, and that this could happen to
anyone adding thrill to the film
11. Props
We decided to use a lam that was lit up in
the dark to use for the title poster. This gave
agreat affect to the picture quality as it gave
the sense that the movie was HD- giving it a
cinematic sort of style
We also used old newspapers to indicate that a
child had recently been missing. This prop as
great as it added to the realism of the thriller
and made it seem every realistic and
professional.
