2. Casting: Wiktor Kogut
For the role of the antagonist we chose to use Wiktor kogut, this
is because we believe a male role suits the character of the
serial killer better than a female as you typically associate males
with enjoying things such as violence and fighting. Wiktor also is
quite tall which would make him seem more dominant and
dangerous which makes him the right height to play the role of
the serial killer, as he is taller than the victim and can be seen as
the more intimidating and threatening character. Wiktor is quite
a quiet character, which could lead him to be rather sinister
during the role, and he also looks rather innocent and the
audience would see him as quite an unlikely person to play the
killer, so it causes a mind blow, and a bit of a twist as the
audience would not have expected it. In the opening sequence
wiktor will be wearing a cape to cover his face, but also may
show glimpses of his face mask , as he is also quite serious, he
would be able to play this role well and not laugh or smile
during the shots.
3. Casting: Catriona
We chose Catriona to play the character
of the victim because we thought the
idea of a female victim would better suit
the role and we also needed her to be
the stereotypical victim, but we did not
want to be to cleshay and go with a
blonde. We also did not want the
character to be dumb or at look dumb
for example blondes so that is why we
chose Catriona who has brown hair to
counter type the victim. that is why we
chose her over other possible choices.
4. Props
For the film we will be using props to make the opening sequence more interesting and to suit the
slasher-thriller genre. Firstly we will be using a cloak which will allow us to hide the antagonists
identity and to make him seem more sinister. The mask will also be used to hide the antagonists
identity and add fear to the character and the audience making them wonder who the antagonist
could be. We will then use a sharp blade which will be shiny, so that it can generate fear to the victim
and audience as we know that someone may die. We will also use a phone to call 999, which will
create a feeling of desperation as she is trying to escape the killer. In addition we will use a pear as
the food to eat as we can incorporate some of our own brand image into the opening sequence and
by using a pear it will help to promote pear productions. A flashlight will be used to guide her
through the darkness, but by it being the only source of light, it will create tension and fear of what is
lurking in the dark.
5. Costume: antagonist
The antagonist will be wearing a black cloak which will be used to hide his
identity, but it is also rather discrete and light which will allow him to
disappear into the darkness, the cloak will also make his quick movements
look more fluid and inhuman. The mask has a sort of owl design while not
being the scariest of animals it gives a sense of beast more than man. He will
be wearing black boots so he is all in black making him look more intimidating
and to help him disguise himself.
6. Costume: protagonist
The protagonist will be wearing jeans and a t-shirt to show she is comfortable
in her home. This will also reflect on the scene as she thinks everything will be
normal and it will be a normal night. She will have everyday makeup, and will
be wearing socks, to make it seem more natural and comfortable. This
contrasts to the scene because she thinks it will be a normal night as she does
not know theres a killer in her house
7. Lighting
The lighting we will use will be dim. The low light helps to increase tension within
the household and keep the audience at the edge of their seats as they know
something will happen. Also the house will be dark, due to the fact that it is late
night and there won’t be much light anyway. The picture in the bottom right is
comparable, although on a smaller scale. The flashlight will play on the darkness.
It is used to reveal the killer at first and then further to lighten the murder scene.
We plan to use a household torch, to highlight the genuinity of the scene.
