Negative Quotes In Unbroken
World War Two was a rough time for the US. Along with Louie Zamperini and Miné Okubo. The
novel Unbroken written by Laura Hillenbrand, is based on the time period of WWII. WWII was
between Japan and America. Zamperini was an Olympian who went into the air forces, once war
broke out. In the article The Life Of Miné Okubo, Okubo was a Japanese–American who grew up in
America and was put into a camp once Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. Both Louie Zamperini and
Miné Okubo struggled to get by during the war, but they managed. Zamperini and Okubo resist
invisibility, and dehumanization the camps try to put them through, and have resistance against
World War Two, as they fight for their lives. In the novel Unbroken Louie Zamperini was made
invisible by the POW guards, but he refused to let that happen. In the article The Life Of Miné
Okubo, Miné Okubo was made invisible by being isolated from the rest of the world, she didn't let
that stop her. Both of the main characters in The Life Of Miné Okubo and Unbroken, Zamperini and
Okubo both are made invisible in many ways. Zamperini and Okubo would make sure that they
were visible and would fight to maintain their visibility. The author states in Unbroken; "The Bird
tried to knock Louie down; Louie wobbled but wouldn't fall." (Hillenbrand, page 246) This
illustrates that Zamperini would resist all urge to fall, he resisted the Bird attempts to make him
invisible. The men even tormented the guards so they knew they weren't

Personal Narrative: My Response To SGT
On 01–25–17 I responded to the above address. Upon arrival I observed an officer talking to Ciro
Castro who was speaking through a brocken window in the door and he refused to come outside. I
also saw Christine Young sitting on the ground in the neighbors yard talking to Ofc Matthews. The
on duty SGT arrived as I arrived and tried to talk to Ciro and tried to get him to come outside to
speak with. Ciro refused to come outside and started to become agiatated yelling things but where I
was standing it was hard to hear what Ciro was saying to SGT. I went and spoke with Christine she
stated that she just wanted to get her belongings and Ciro would not let her. I then herd the others

Persuasive Speech About Rosa Parks
Rosa Parks
Rosa Parks was born on February 4, 1913, in Alabama. When she was two she and her parents
moved to another place in Alabama. The same year her baby brother was born, and her parents
shortly separated after that. This sound like a normal childhood, right? The only thing that made this
childhood different, from a childhood today, was that Rosa Parks was an african–american raised at
the same times as the "Jim Crow" laws. The "Jim Crow" laws was laws that separated black people
and white people. The black people could only go to certain schools, they could only use toilets for
black people and when they were taking the bus, they could only sit on the seats for black people. If
the bus was to crowded of people, they had to give up their seats for white people. Rosa Parks is
known for doing this little thing, she refused to give up her seat for a white man. In this text we are

Like, where Rosa Parks ever married? Yes, Rosa Parks was married to a guy called Raymond Parks.
He was born in 1903, and he died in 1977. They got married in 1932, and they marriage ended in
1977 after Raymond died. Why am I talking about him you may think? Well, he have always
supported Rosa Parks in everything she have done, and he was also fighting against the segregation.
Another thing you may not know about Rosa Parks, is that she was not the first african–american
women that got arrested since she refused to give up her seat for a white person. Only nine months
before Parks got arrested, a 15–year–old girl, named Claudette Colvin, got arrested for doing the
same thing as Rosa Parks did. There were also three other african–american women how did the
same thing. The only difference is that it got consequences after Parks had done it. Maybe the reason
that it had consequences after Parks did it was because she was a civil rights activist before she got

Importance Of Inspectors In An Inspector Calls
An Inspector Calls is a play written by John Priestly in 1945, about a wealthy family, the Birling's,
who is questioned by a mysterious inspector about the suicide of a young woman, Eva Smith. In the
play, Mrs Birling is most to blame for Eva's suicide, in fact, in the play Eric, her son, blames her for
Eva's death, saying ""Then– you killed her. She came to you to protect me– and you turned her
away–yes, and you killed her–and the child she'd have had too– my child– your own grandchild–
you killed them both– damn you, damn you–". Three major reasons why Mrs Birling is most to
blame are that she refused to help Eva when she was her last hope, she showed no remorse or blame
for her actions, and she blamed others for Eva's death.
The first reason that Mrs Birling is most to blame is that she refused to help Eva Smith when Eva
came to her for help. As a major member of a charity group designed to help poor woman who
needed help, Mrs Birling used her influence to refuse to help Eva when she came for help. In an
Inspector Calls, Mrs Birling says "I wasn't satisfied with the girl's claim...so I used my influence to
have it refused. And in spite of what's happened to the girl since, I consider I did my duty" (An
Inspector Calls, pg. 44). Mrs Birling refused to help Eva because she was prejudiced against her
after Eva called herself Mrs Birling. Furthermore, Mrs Birling used her influence on the charity
board to make them refuse Eva help, and she refused to help her even though she

Multimodal Vs. Multimodal Mode
Imagine this, your English teacher hands you a copy of a text and tells you to read and have a good
understanding of the information by the next class period. Being the exceptional good reader that
you are, you think, "no problem." However, the text is about a tricky topic that has more of a biased
appeal, meaning how it is interpreted is based on each individual's opinion. While you're reading
you are having a tough time involving yourself in the text and deciding whether you agree or
disagree with the story. To avoid situations like this, a writer will establish their genre as
multimodal. Multimodal genre rhetorically helps a writer to connect and influence their readers with
the use of various literary devices. The multimodal genre, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A common misconception is that the stories are only by people who live in New York. New York is
where HONY was originated, but it is not the only place where stories are acquired. The stories
focus on specific populations, and are collected in countries from all over the globe. Once the stories
are uploaded to the Humans of New York site, they are classified into series. To be exact the series
currently featured on the site are, Invisible Wounds, Pediatric Cancer, Inmate Stories, Syrian
Americans, and Refugee Stories. Within the series, are stories examining the experiences and
challenges that the people who fall under these classifications faced. As previously stated, Humans
of New York habitually contains multimodal text. Not only do the stories published on HONY
appeal to pathos, ethos, and logos, images are also used to help capture and depict the story and its
intended message. The use of the images along with the text is how multimodal text is used in
HONY. The two work significantly together. The stories posted on the website, Humans of New
York, are emotional and touching. In addition, the photographer for HONY tries to capture the
storytellers emotions in the photos. The emotions that pour from the pictures help to draw readers in.
The text and the photo together exemplify the multimodal genre. Publisher comments made on
social media linking the pages to the articles are also an area where the text sits on the multimodal
platform. For better

The Narrative Paradigm By Scott Stroud
Scott Stroud in his article Multivalent narratives: Extending the Narrative Paradigm with Insights
from Ancient Indian Philosophical Texts critiques the narrative paradigm by pointing out its
weaknesses and proposing revisions to the existing paradigm using ancient Indian philosophical
narratives. Stroud claims that Fisher's paradigm is too limiting and conservative when dealing with
foreign concepts and texts. The narrative paradigm does not allow people to experience new stories
that may differ from their traditional stories challenging their values and/ or accepting new ones
(Stroud, p. 372). Our judgment of a narrative is based on what we believe is just or true. New ideas
or thoughts or values are not given a chance using the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Knowing that man is separate from Dattatreya will lead to "the mind being cleansed" and salvation.
This narrative also says that Dattatreya is of this world, residing in everything of earth. The story
argues against the separation of the subordinate and the deity, saying, "There is no Shepard, no
flock" (as cited in Stroud, 2002). The deity tells man in order to achieve salvation he must meditate
and work, but man should do neither in order to gain reward, "taking care to chose actions wisely as
those choices will impact future salvation" (Stroud, 2002, p. 382). This text is full of contradictions;
the deity is separate from man, the deity is with man and of the world, meditate and work to gain
salvation, meditation and work are not important and will not gain man salvation. The second text is
equally confusing and contradictory within itself and to the first text. The Devi Gita is a goddess of
divine power who urges the reader to be devout only to her. She says she is also separate from the
world, only later in the text to claim she is of this world and with man. Meditation is important to
achieve salvation however meditating in hopes of salvation or to please the ego is not pleasing to
her. Stroud claims that the narrative paradigm as it is now is not efficient in rendering an outcome
for the western reader of these texts, which involve incoherence

How Did Rosa Parks Give Up To The Civil Rights Movement?
When Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on December 1, 1955 that resulted in the Montgomery
Bus Boycott. A 13 month mass protest that ended with the U.S. Supreme Court ruling that
segregation on public buses is unconstitutional. Once Rosa Parks' arrest happened that put the bus
boycott into motion. Rosa Parks' refusing to give up her bus seat set–off the Montgomery Bus
Boycott which changed the Civil Rights Movement. Rosa Parks' refused to give up her bus seat in
Montgomery Alabama , James Blake replied that he was going to have to arrest her she. Replied
softly "You may do that".Once the bus got full he asked her, while she was in the first row of the

The Discrimination Is An Unfair Treatment For A Ethnic...
The discrimination is an unfairly treatment to a particular ethnic group based on their own special
conditions. It includes 4 main forms – the directly, indirectly, harassment and victimisation. The
direct discrimination is pretty straightforward, which happens when someone dealt with the situation
unfairly based on one of the grounds and in one of the areas covered by the action. The indirect
discrimination is usually less obvious than the direct form. It is usually the rules or policy that
applies to everyone, which seems fair. However, the rules puts people who with the relevant
protected characteristics at a particular disadvantage. Both direct and indirect discriminations are the
forms of the employment discrimination that treat people unfairly based on some particular grounds.
(1) These grounds that be treated unfairly in these situations, which also named "Protected
Characteristics" are:

Gandhi Use Of Force Essay
Throughout the existence of human civilization, the use of force has almost always been the
predominant answer above all others. But force is not always the right justification Force is more
often than . In spite of this, most implications of force are used for extreme circumstances. With this
in mind, peaceful movements have been established and pursued without the execution of violence.
While some believe that it is right to solve a disagreement by force, the reality is that complications
can be resolved without the use of brutality. Historical events perpetuates that non–belligerent acts
are the just and right way to resolve an issue. Based on the actions of Mahatma Gandhi and Rosa
Parks, the use of violent means was not necessary to achieve their goals. India's primary leader,
Mahatma Gandhi, managed the movement of Indian Nationalist with passive actions. His
widespread non–violent behavior was recognized around the world. As an Indian migrant in South

men and women were confined and were even executed. Instead of them fighting back and creating
a war against the people of South Africa, the British and Indian government compelled their
government to finally agree acceptance of immigrated Indians. In addition to the movement of
Mahatma Gandhi, he wasn't the only one who wouldn't give up their seat. Similarly, Rosa Parks also
used the act of non–violence. During the year of 1955, the Montgomery Bus Boycott was shaped by

Wha What People Learn About Rosa Parks
"Another Negro Woman has been arrested and put in jail because she refused to give up her seat."
This quote was made by the Women's Political Council telling all Blacks that because an incident
occurred with a Black woman, no Blacks could ride buses to work or school. Rosa Parks is one of
the most influential African American in history by casually sitting on the bus along with the color
of her skin. After Parks name was thrown under the bus by the public, people her kind found her to
be right and wanted her to fight for what she wanted. During the Civil Rights movement, Blacks and
Whites were separated on every bus. Rosa Parks did break this law by sitting in the seat not
according to her color. What people learn about Rosa Parks is not the complete truth from what
people generally know. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Parks refused to get up, the bus driver threatened toto call the police. The police eventually called,

Who Was To Blame For The American Revolution Essay
The American Revolution was a crucial point to the freedom of America. After the French and
Indian War, the British had to pay for the costs of the war. As a result, Parliament started taxing the
colonists as a way to pay the debts. This led the British to believe they could abuse their power
against the colonists. The British government, rather than the colonists, was more at fault for the
American Revolution. To begin with, the British government abused its power. Parliament passed
many laws and taxes which infuriated the colonists. They were imposed for power, regulation, and
money. These new laws encroached the freedoms of the colonists. For example, the Sugar Act of
1764 increased the tax on sugar imported from the West Indies. The Quartering Act of 1765 required
colonists to provide food and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In July 1775, the Continental Congress adopted the Olive Branch Petition in hopes of a compromise.
The petition promised American loyalty to Parliament as long as King George III would agree to
repeal the Intolerable Acts. However, the king refused to agree on any kind of reconciliation. This
proves that on the road to the revolution, the colonists tried to resolve conflicts, but the British king
refused to come to a mutual agreement. Since the king declined the peace offer, the colonists only
had one reasonable option. They had to fight for their freedom from Britain to escape the harsh laws
and taxes that were imposed by Parliament. In conclusion, Britain was at fault for the American
Revolution. Britain abused its power by making new laws in order to pay for their debts. Also,
Britain would not allow the colonists to represent in Parliament. These actions made the colonist
furious, which led them to protest for more rights. Lastly, the British refused to accept peace treaties,
leaving the colonists with the only option of fighting back. Thus, the British were at fault for the

How Did Rosa Parks Have Courage
Before we can look at why Rosa Parks required physical courage when she refused to give up her
seat on a Montgomery bus we must first look at what physical courage is, physical courage is the
ability to have courage in the face of hardship, physical pain, or even death. So if physical courage
is the ability to have courage in the face of hardship, physical pain, or even death, then Rosa Parks
required physical courage when she refused to give up her seat because back in the 1955's we were

would often take the law into their own hands and preform lynching's, and other forms of cruelty

Many people are so interested with the disease, 'the black death'. How come one may ask? Many
reasons are told by a man named, Giovanni Boccaccio . Giovanni Baccaccio was a poetic writer. He
wrote some interesting things about the black death. He told how this plague was spread, how
doctors refused to see their patients, and how people thought it was a punishment from god. Many
of these items were very disturbing about the horrifying and black death. Scientists figured out that
this plague was spread by a germ called the yersina pestis (The Black Death paragraph 2). They also
know it can be passed through to people by rats and fleas. Unlike today, doctors did not know how
to treat this disease. Nobody understood how this disease

Can Medical Service be Refused on the Basis of Morality...
Refusing Service or Care Whenever there is a discussion that involves ethics and morality there
always seems to be some debate. Professional ethics has become more significant over the years. As
people become more specialized in their occupations, the concerns become that much more
complex. Professional bodies have more and more been at work developing, revising and refining
professional codes of ethics. Professionals themselves have asked for more comprehensive codes so
as to have better direction. There is no longer deference to the clout of experts on the part of the
public or of the client group. The standards for professional behavior keep drifting higher. "Where
safety and health are at issue, the regulators are under more pressure to act when professional groups
do not act" (Strahlendorf, n.d). This notion of professional ethics has really come to the forefront in
relation to pharmacists and whether they can refuse to fill prescriptions based on their ethical
beliefs. In a case back in 1996, Karen Brauer, a pharmacist in Hamilton, OH. refused to fill a
prescription because of her religious beliefs. She was told by her employer to fill all prescriptions or
be fired. She chose to loose her job (Sweeny, 2004). Cases like this one are springing up all over the
country as pharmacists are taking a stand in what they believe, as I think they should. Pharmacists
face a number of unpleasant consequences for failure to distribute medication. First, refusal could

Charles I Grand Remonstrance
John Pym felt it was necessary to issue King Charles I with the Grand Remonstrance because he
believed that Charles was abusing his power. Pym planned to use the Grand Remonstrance as a part
of his campaign to transfer control of the armed forces to Parliament by undermining the confidence
and power in the King (as well as his ministers), and by further demonstrating the integrity of
Parliament. The Parliament had previously gained power over Queen Elizabeth, and intended to keep
it, which was obviously not in Charles' mind to do so. Charles I believed in the Divine Right of
Kings (although Parliament doesn't), meaning he believed that his power was given to him by god,

The protestants had been upset by Charles' since 1625, when he married the Catholic Queen
Henrietta Maria of France. They were even more disturbed when Charles, along with Archbishop
Laud (William Laud 1573 – 1645), began making changes to the Church of England, by decorating
with stained glass windows, tapestries, statues and candlesticks. Furthermore, Charles demanded
that the new English Prayer Book be used in Scottish Churches. This was a major mistake as the
Scots were more anti–Catholic than the English (moreover, many of the English were Puritans – an
extreme branch of Protestantism). Charles' foolish actions caused riots in Scotland against the new
service, creating a war of which he lost. I believe Charles thought he could do what he want, and
govern according to his own conscience even at a time where England was a very intolerant country
– as many people still hated Catholics and their ideas. Charles also heavily believed in the Divine
Right of Kings – the belief that God had appointed him to be King, which I think would have
contributed to the conspiracy formed by the Protestants that the King was leaning towards
Catholicism. This would have given King Charles more motive to refuse to sign the Grand

Julius Caesar Ambition
In the play Julius Caesar, by William Shakespeare, you will find many different themes.
One theme that stuck out to me was ambition. Cassius and the others believed that Caesar was
ambitious, and indeed he was a very ambitious character. Some ways that I was able to see the
ambition in this character was when he defeated Pompey, refused the crown three times, he did not
listen to the multiple warnings that people gave him throughout the play. These were all acts of
ambition.
One way that Caesar was ambitious was when he defeated Pompey. Pompey was once a very good
friend and ally of his. The senate was fearful of Caesar and demanded that he got command of his
army. Caesar refused and instead he marched his army into Rome, which he was
not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another way the he showed ambition was, during the Feast of Lupercal, Brutus and
Cassius were told by Casca that the cheering that they overheard was by Caesar refusing the crown
in front of the people. Brutus then accuses Caesar of ambition, but according to Casca, he refused
the crown that Mark Antony offered him three times. Caesar refused the crown it was because he did
not want the people to think that he was king. This is a sign of ambition because he had a strong
desire to not take the crown even after it was offered three times.
One more wat that Caesar is ambitious is when he doesn't listen to Calpurnia. Calpurnia has a dream
and there is an evil omens in the night storm. She then proceeds to ask Caesar not to go to the
Capitol. He agrees until Decius, one of the men that was trying to help get him killed and interprets
Calpurnia's dream. He then ignores the warnings of Calpurnia and the two others and proceeds to go
to the Capitol. He then gives a speech and soon after is murdered. This is a sign of ambition because
after multiple people told him to stay at home, he decided that he would go to the capitol

man and wanting support from him but he does not reach the expectations nor try to show her some
support. The speaker who is unknown seems to be a woman who wants change and a support system
in her lie. The narrator speaks in a desiring and sorrow tone but at the end it becomes courageous
and strong. "She decided to become a woman" (18) states the narrator. The poem does not have a
clear view of who the audience is but it maybe is the man in which whom she is talking about. The
poet may not even be talking about a male partner directly, she may be talking about the universe
and how it's not very supportive and still remains that same way today. The speaker expresses her
want for change and a "supportive backbone" throughout the poem. The male figure in the poem
declined every request and opportunity to try and change into a supportive person for the woman. In
my opinion he never did wanted to see her become a strong person and grow so he refused to be
there for her. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The poem is a free verse poem which means it is not written in a traditional meter like some other
poems. It does not ask any questions for the audience to think about, it is a very straight forward
poem. The idea and theme is revealed when the narrator states "and though he still refused to be a
man. She decided it was all right" (21). A theme for this poem could be "Not everyone will change
into the person you want them to be ", and "be your own person and depend on no one". The
narrator showed a cause and effect situation throughout the poem between the woman and her male

Arguments About Parental Choice And Vaccination
Introduction
Arguments about parental choice and vaccination has at times been very contentious, but those on
either spectrum of the argument are attentive to the welfare of children. The objective of this
particular study is to evaluate how the decision making process between parents who choose to
delay or refuse vaccines for their children age 24 months differ from those who do not. This study
also incorporates the Health Belief Model and addresses key components which attempts to address
how these decisions are made, and how psychosocial factors may influence these decisions.

guideline for minimum sample size. Data was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similarly, based upon the research, the response rate of the telephone portion of the NIS was 64%.
Also, among sampled children aged 19–35 months with a completed NIS telephone interview, 69%
had an adequate provider–reported vaccination history returned from the mail that could be used to
evaluate vaccination status.
The researchers asked parents questions about whether they ever decided to delay a vaccine dose for
their children and whether or not they ever decided to not get or refuse the administration of a dose.
Based upon the parents' response, the researchers then categorized the parents into one of four
possible delay/refusal categories. This was dependent upon whether they reported (1) neither
delaying nor refusing, (2) delaying but not refusing, (3) refusing and not delaying, or (4) delaying
and refusing. The parents who delayed but did not refuse were referred to as parents who "only
delayed," and parents who refused but did not delay were referred to as parents who "only refused".
According to the researchers, parents who reported delaying or refusing vaccines and also could
remember the name of the vaccines that were delayed/refused were asked question about the reasons
why they delayed or refused those vaccines.
The parents' beliefs about vaccines were assessed and the researchers used current data from the
2009 NIS to correlate the parents' report of delay/refusal with the four psychosocial

What Is The Difference Between Superman And Me
In the text "Superman and Me" Sherman Alexie tells how he learned to read. He also tells how
Indian boys were not focused on in school. The text states, "We were Indian children who were

He states, "I refused to fail. I was smart. I was arrogant. I was lucky."
The text Sherman Alexie states,"I refused to fail. I was smart. I was arrogant. I was lucky." What do
you think this quote means? To me it means that he didn't care that nobody believed in him because
he was Indian he was still going to be able to read and write. He was not going to give up. He was
lucky because most Indian kids were not paid attention to in education because in his time

1. Fred Korematsu and Gordon Hirabayashi were two men who refused to report to the evacuation
center when all Japanese people were being forced to relocate. Relocation began in April 1942 and
these two men challenged President Roosevelt's executive order 9066, that stated, "All persons of
Japanese ancestry, both alien and non–alien, will be evacuated (Takaki 344)." Korematsu and
Hirabayashi were both arrested, convicted, and sent to prison (Takaki 345). Their cases later went to
the Supreme Court but the government policy said them getting convicted and sent to prison was a
military necessity (Takaki 345). Both were sent to Guantanamo Bay where Mr.Kore challenged the

This took a great toll on all their loved ones because many got sick and died. The Executive Order
9066 ended in March 1946 but it was made to move Japanese people since they were the ones who

memorial was held in Washington, DC for all those Japanese who were involved with the relocation

3. The Jim Crow Era was an era that had anti–Black laws and an all–white justice system (Lecture

could not offer to light a women's cigarette, Black couples were not allowed to show public displays
of affection (PDA), and Black people could not eat with white people (Lecture 11/06/13). There was
several other little laws that were anti–Black. Racism was huge during the Jim Crow Era, for
example, the use of bad language towards Blacks were in books and newspapers (11/06/13).
Institutional racism also existed with voting and lynching. Only white democrats could vote in
primaries and over a half of white police officers participated in lynching (Lecture 11/06/13). The
lynching of Black people went on for a long time, from 1882 through 1968 (11/06/13). One
historical event that was violent towards Blacks was the Scottsboro Boys in 1931. There was nine

The first respondent to this appeal, who shall be referred to as A, is a foreign national who arrived in
the United Kingdom in 1991. In 1996 he was convicted of sexual offences against his step–child and
was sentenced to four years imprisonment. However, at a later date, he was granted indefinite leave
to remain. In 1998 the second respondent, the Home Secretary, came to the conclusion that he
should be deported and therefore a deportation order was served.
A made an appeal against the deportation order and a series of proceedings followed. Due to the

Muhammad Ali Research Paper
Muhammad Ali
Muhammad Ali was a humble man who accomplished a lot during his life. Muhammad Ali
converted Islam at the age of 22 and changed his name from Cassius Clay to Muhammad Ali. With
that he set an example of racial pride for African Americans. In 1967 Muhammad Ali refused to be
inducted into the US army due to his religious beliefs after converting Islam. He was then arrested
and found guilty of draft evasion. He was sentenced 5 years of prison, fined $10,000, all his titles
were stripped, and he was banned from boxing for 3 years. He then went to the Supreme Court,
where they overturned his conviction. For these actions this is why I picked Muhammad Ali.
My topic is Muhammad Ali, who refused to be conscripted into the army. He refused to be inducted
to the Vietnam War on the grounds of Houston. During this time the the U.S. was in the Vietnam
War. Before the event Muhammad Ali was boxing around the world, he was world champion. After
the event they suspended him from boxing for 3 years. With titles stripped he would have to earn

Comparing The Road Not Taken And Everything Will Change
"Change brings opportunities. Embrace it." This is a quote targeted to people going through the
process of change, from teenagers to young adults. One will never know what change may bring
towards them. The turning of pathways may lead to plenty of different opportunities, which could
bring happiness and fulfilment upon them. My class and I have been studying change, learning
about how the text depicts the image of change, and the message behind them. The three related
texts I will be discussing in this speech are "Looking for Alibrandi", "The Road Not Taken" and
"Everything will change".

The poem describes an image of two diverging paths with the persona to deciding which one they
should take. Throughout the whole passage, they leave little traces of comparison between the
situation and choices in life that we/they make or have made, which is a perfect example of a
metaphor. There are rhyme schemes used in the poem, the last words of the lines usually are the
ones that rhyme, such as "wood", "stood" and "could"(ABAAB). The effect of these device is to
make the whole poem sound fluent and flowing smoothly, as the poem goes on, entertaining the
reader. Phrases like "as far as I could" and "as just as fair", is a simile, intended to make more sense
and meaning of the poem, giving a better understanding and representation. Personification draws
the readers' attention by putting attributes to another, intriguing the audience, sharpening the words.
All these literary devices, make the poem more excitable and lead the readers closer to finding out
the hidden message in the poem of "The Road Not Taken". This brings us back to the quote "Change
brings opportunities. Embrace it." The text had two paths, which could possibly lead to more various
choices. If we change paths, perhaps more opportunities await. Depicting change of self and world.
Since the persona themselves, manages to change their direction, they proceed to a different path. As
they discover openings and options, it changes their world, giving the persona something different to
work with and choose

Explain Why Andrew Jackson Should Not Be On The 20 Dollar...
Have you ever lost your home, family, and friends? That's what happened to 16,000 Cherokees who
were forced to move west. Andrew Jackson was a general and the 7th president of America. In his
years of presidency, he did expand America and did good and bad things depending on perspective.
He forced Native Americans out of their lands and if they refused they were slaughtered. In my
opinion, Andrew Jackson should not be on the 20 dollar bill because he relocated Native Americans,
slaughtered Native Americans who refused to leave their homes, and he traded slaves. One reason
Andrew Jackson should not be on the 20 dollar bill is that he relocated Native Americans. He kicked
Native Americans out of their lands, leaving everything and their childhood and valued lands.
According to this website "The trail continued west into Oklahoma, a total distance of nearly 1,000
miles" (Neal Lineback, 2013), the trail of tears. They traveled only to have unexplored lands, three–
fourths of their colony dead, bad weather, and only to be eventually kicked off again by the ever–
expanding Americans who want more land. This means that all this death and stealing doesn't mean
you should be on the twenty dollar bill of the future. And yo8u might say that he did this for our
country but he will never be redeemed for the lives he took. ... Show more content on

All most all the Native Americans refused to leave their homes because no one would like to leave
their old lives behind. According to the textbook "Yet most of the 17,000 Cherokee refused to honor
this treaty" (Appleby, 2000). This is significant because this ruined thousands of native lives. He
killed Native Americans in their homes and land And he also killed Native Americans in wars,
brutally. So really Jackson should be on the 20 dollar bill is because he slaughtered Native
Americans meaning he took

More minorities are arrested, convicted, and jailed so they assume drug trafficking is a minority
activity. People of color are more likely to get stopped and harmed for no reason at by officers even
if you didn 't make physical contact with them, whereas white drivers are less likely to receive less
attention from law enforcement when driving and go unapprehended on drug dealers and possessors.
When officers perform vehicle searches they are usually performed on blacks more than whites even
though white drivers have a higher rate of having drug and weapons. If white people have a higher
rate of carrying drugs and weapons then why not stop them as much as you stop African Americans?
People of color have been the main ones targeted for the war on drugs since the beginning of time
time. Skin color has put an effect on drug criminality for this day and age.
Despite the color of your skin being a reason on why you can get pulled over, it could also be due to
the area you are located in as well as the vehicle you are driving. If you notice, law enforcement
usually tend to drive or stroll through the poor neighborhoods located in the area. These type of
areas usually draw more attention due to the way they look and tend to have open and easy drug
deals than the higher range areas. It is not a big problem that officers stroll through areas like this
because there could possibly be danger going on and they

Failure Of The League Of Nations: United States Refused To...
I. Failure of the League of Nations
1. United States Refused to Join
A. In 1918, Woodrow Wilson, the president at the time, wrote an open letter suggesting that if the
Republicans were to gain control of congress they would give ease to Germany. This accusation was
false as the Republicans had backed World War I and because of this they won the 1918 elections
and gained control of the Senate and the House. Lodge became the majority leader and demanded
compromise on the League of Nations charter before having it passed. Wilson refused any
compromise and eventually had a stroke in 1919 that incapacitated him for the remainder of his life.
Warren Harding then became president in 1920, pledged opposition to the League of Nations, and it
was ultimately rejected. Without the United States in the League, it suffered a major blow to the
power it had as the United States was a burgeoning power.
2. Unable to Stop Aggression
A. In 1931, a civil war between communists and nationalists in China was waging with Stalin
backing the communists. Japan, obviously nervous at this, desired to establish a buffer state in
Manchuria and promptly sent its armies in to do so. The League of Nations investigated the incident
and found that Japan was guilty of aggression. In the League, the only two members that had the
power to intervene were France and Britain, and they had little interest in challenging Japan. So,
Japan was given a verbal punishment by the League. Naturally, Japan was angry at this,

Rosa Parks 'Hero In The Poem Rosa' By Rita Dove
When you hear the word hero, what is the first thing that comes in your mind? Most people think of
Superman, Batman, or other fictional characters, but what makes them heroes? When you think
about it more, you may figure out that there is more to the meaning of a hero. A hero is someone
who perform brave acts and inspire others to stand up for themselves. Rosa Parks truly exemplifies
the word hero because she shows courtesy, changed history, and is an inspiration to others.
Rosa Parks is a hero because she shows courtesy. The poem "Rosa", written by Rita Dove, describes
Rosa as a simple woman and explains how Rosa Parks was calm when she was arrested from
refusing to give up her seat. The description of Rosa Parks helps me infer that she showed courtesy.
When Rosa refused to give up her seat, the police came and handcuffed her. Rosa did not fight back,
instead she was kept quiet and let the police handcuff her. Most African Americans who refused to
give up their seats and then got handcuffed, fought back with violence. However, Rosa Parks was

The overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom led to Hawaii being annexed to the United States. The
overthrow involved many people and groups who supported Hawaii being annexed, such as Lorrin
Thurston and The Committee of Safety. However, there were also many people who were against it
including, Robert Wilcox, James Blount, and Aloha Aina. The overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom
happened on January 17, 1893, where the provisional government took over and declared martial
law in Hawaii. The Hawaiian Kingdom was officially annexed by the United States on August 12,
1898. The overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom was unjustified because King Kalakaua was forced

The Annexation Club (which was later renamed to the Committee of Public Safety) forced king
Kalakaua to sign the Bayonet Constitution which took away many Hawaiians right to vote, and gave
the voting privilege to many foreigners. According to The Overthrow–Part One, the privilege of
voting was no longer limited to citizens of the kingdom, but extended to foreign residents, either
American or European. This excluded asians to vote even if the asians became naturalized citizens.
The reason why Kalakaua was forced to sign this constitution is because The Annexation Club had
power over the Honolulu Rifles, which made the Annexation club armed with many weapons. The
group made demands on Kalakaua, including an immediate change of the King's cabinet ministers.
Under threat of violence, on July 1, 1887, the King reluctantly agreed to form a new cabinet

Compare And Contrast Calvin And Rosa Parks
Two great women in history, Claudette Calvin and Rosa Parks, who refused to give up their seats on
a bus, because of segregation laws. Both women went through trials and both women overcame
their conflict and changed history. Claudette Calvin and Rosa Parks both brought awareness to the
issues in segregation and the way that black people were treated. Calvin and Parks responded to
conflict by standing up for what they believe. The best way to deal with conflict is by standing up
for what you believe, in a non–violent display or action. At the age of fifteen Claudette Calvin, who
was an A student at an all black school, stepped on a city bus. On March 2, 1955, Claudette Calvin
got on a bus headed home from school, she took her seat in the black section of the bus. When the
bus started to fill up the bus driver stopped the bus and demanded that all black people get up and

The War Of The Vietnam War
The Vietnam war was probably one of the most, if not the most unpopular war in US history. Civil
disobedience began before the war was even in full swing. Men would refused to register for the
military draft. And when they actually had registered for the draft the men began to publicly burn
their draft cards. As if that wasn't enough of a sap in the face to the government they began to not
just burn their draft cards but actually sent them back to the government. In response to these refuses
the government began to prosecute the men who refused; by the end there were over thirty–three
thousand imprisoned for refusing the draft. When their pleads for peace were not heard, citizens then
turned to the use of horrific actions. United States citizens began to commit suicide in order to be
heard. In Washington when pentagon workers finished their day and were leaving, they were met by
Norman Morrison. Morrison was so fed up with the war that he drenched him self in gasoline, lit
himself on fire, and proceeded to burn to death in public to protest the war. Sadly, enough this was
not the only suicide case, a year later Alice Herz fallowed in Morrison's footsteps and also set fire to
herself. Then when bombings in North Vietnam began to take place, US citizens gathered in Boston
to protest. But this wasn't just any normal protest, during this particular protest over one hundred
thousand (some think the number was actually closer to two million) citizens attended and peace

Negative Quotes In Unbroken

  • 1. Negative Quotes In Unbroken World War Two was a rough time for the US. Along with Louie Zamperini and Miné Okubo. The novel Unbroken written by Laura Hillenbrand, is based on the time period of WWII. WWII was between Japan and America. Zamperini was an Olympian who went into the air forces, once war broke out. In the article The Life Of Miné Okubo, Okubo was a Japanese–American who grew up in America and was put into a camp once Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. Both Louie Zamperini and Miné Okubo struggled to get by during the war, but they managed. Zamperini and Okubo resist invisibility, and dehumanization the camps try to put them through, and have resistance against World War Two, as they fight for their lives. In the novel Unbroken Louie Zamperini was made invisible by the POW guards, but he refused to let that happen. In the article The Life Of Miné Okubo, Miné Okubo was made invisible by being isolated from the rest of the world, she didn't let that stop her. Both of the main characters in The Life Of Miné Okubo and Unbroken, Zamperini and Okubo both are made invisible in many ways. Zamperini and Okubo would make sure that they were visible and would fight to maintain their visibility. The author states in Unbroken; "The Bird tried to knock Louie down; Louie wobbled but wouldn't fall." (Hillenbrand, page 246) This illustrates that Zamperini would resist all urge to fall, he resisted the Bird attempts to make him invisible. The men even tormented the guards so they knew they weren't ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Upon arrival I observed an officer talking to Ciro Castro who was speaking through a brocken window in the door and he refused to come outside. I also saw Christine Young sitting on the ground in the neighbors yard talking to Ofc Matthews. The on duty SGT arrived as I arrived and tried to talk to Ciro and tried to get him to come outside to speak with. Ciro refused to come outside and started to become agiatated yelling things but where I was standing it was hard to hear what Ciro was saying to SGT. I went and spoke with Christine she stated that she just wanted to get her belongings and Ciro would not let her. • 5. Persuasive Speech About Rosa Parks Rosa Parks Rosa Parks was born on February 4, 1913, in Alabama. When she was two she and her parents moved to another place in Alabama. The same year her baby brother was born, and her parents shortly separated after that. This sound like a normal childhood, right? The only thing that made this childhood different, from a childhood today, was that Rosa Parks was an african–american raised at the same times as the "Jim Crow" laws. The "Jim Crow" laws was laws that separated black people and white people. The black people could only go to certain schools, they could only use toilets for black people and when they were taking the bus, they could only sit on the seats for black people. If the bus was to crowded of people, they had to give up their seats for white people. Rosa Parks is known for doing this little thing, she refused to give up her seat for a white man. In this text we are going to take a closer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Like, where Rosa Parks ever married? Yes, Rosa Parks was married to a guy called Raymond Parks. He was born in 1903, and he died in 1977. They got married in 1932, and they marriage ended in 1977 after Raymond died. Why am I talking about him you may think? Well, he have always supported Rosa Parks in everything she have done, and he was also fighting against the segregation. Another thing you may not know about Rosa Parks, is that she was not the first african–american women that got arrested since she refused to give up her seat for a white person. Only nine months before Parks got arrested, a 15–year–old girl, named Claudette Colvin, got arrested for doing the same thing as Rosa Parks did. There were also three other african–american women how did the same thing. The only difference is that it got consequences after Parks had done it. Maybe the reason that it had consequences after Parks did it was because she was a civil rights activist before she got ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Importance Of Inspectors In An Inspector Calls An Inspector Calls is a play written by John Priestly in 1945, about a wealthy family, the Birling's, who is questioned by a mysterious inspector about the suicide of a young woman, Eva Smith. In the play, Mrs Birling is most to blame for Eva's suicide, in fact, in the play Eric, her son, blames her for Eva's death, saying ""Then– you killed her. She came to you to protect me– and you turned her away–yes, and you killed her–and the child she'd have had too– my child– your own grandchild– you killed them both– damn you, damn you–". Three major reasons why Mrs Birling is most to blame are that she refused to help Eva when she was her last hope, she showed no remorse or blame for her actions, and she blamed others for Eva's death. The first reason that Mrs Birling is most to blame is that she refused to help Eva Smith when Eva came to her for help. As a major member of a charity group designed to help poor woman who needed help, Mrs Birling used her influence to refuse to help Eva when she came for help. In an Inspector Calls, Mrs Birling says "I wasn't satisfied with the girl's claim...so I used my influence to have it refused. And in spite of what's happened to the girl since, I consider I did my duty" (An Inspector Calls, pg. 44). Mrs Birling refused to help Eva because she was prejudiced against her after Eva called herself Mrs Birling. Furthermore, Mrs Birling used her influence on the charity board to make them refuse Eva help, and she refused to help her even though she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Multimodal Vs. Multimodal Mode Imagine this, your English teacher hands you a copy of a text and tells you to read and have a good understanding of the information by the next class period. Being the exceptional good reader that you are, you think, "no problem." However, the text is about a tricky topic that has more of a biased appeal, meaning how it is interpreted is based on each individual's opinion. While you're reading you are having a tough time involving yourself in the text and deciding whether you agree or disagree with the story. To avoid situations like this, a writer will establish their genre as multimodal. Multimodal genre rhetorically helps a writer to connect and influence their readers with the use of various literary devices. The multimodal genre, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A common misconception is that the stories are only by people who live in New York. New York is where HONY was originated, but it is not the only place where stories are acquired. The stories focus on specific populations, and are collected in countries from all over the globe. Once the stories are uploaded to the Humans of New York site, they are classified into series. To be exact the series currently featured on the site are, Invisible Wounds, Pediatric Cancer, Inmate Stories, Syrian Americans, and Refugee Stories. Within the series, are stories examining the experiences and challenges that the people who fall under these classifications faced. As previously stated, Humans of New York habitually contains multimodal text. Not only do the stories published on HONY appeal to pathos, ethos, and logos, images are also used to help capture and depict the story and its intended message. The use of the images along with the text is how multimodal text is used in HONY. The two work significantly together. The stories posted on the website, Humans of New York, are emotional and touching. In addition, the photographer for HONY tries to capture the storytellers emotions in the photos. The emotions that pour from the pictures help to draw readers in. The text and the photo together exemplify the multimodal genre. Publisher comments made on social media linking the pages to the articles are also an area where the text sits on the multimodal platform. For better ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. The Narrative Paradigm By Scott Stroud Scott Stroud in his article Multivalent narratives: Extending the Narrative Paradigm with Insights from Ancient Indian Philosophical Texts critiques the narrative paradigm by pointing out its weaknesses and proposing revisions to the existing paradigm using ancient Indian philosophical narratives. Stroud claims that Fisher's paradigm is too limiting and conservative when dealing with foreign concepts and texts. The narrative paradigm does not allow people to experience new stories that may differ from their traditional stories challenging their values and/ or accepting new ones (Stroud, p. 372). Our judgment of a narrative is based on what we believe is just or true. New ideas or thoughts or values are not given a chance using the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Knowing that man is separate from Dattatreya will lead to "the mind being cleansed" and salvation. This narrative also says that Dattatreya is of this world, residing in everything of earth. The story argues against the separation of the subordinate and the deity, saying, "There is no Shepard, no flock" (as cited in Stroud, 2002). The deity tells man in order to achieve salvation he must meditate and work, but man should do neither in order to gain reward, "taking care to chose actions wisely as those choices will impact future salvation" (Stroud, 2002, p. 382). This text is full of contradictions; the deity is separate from man, the deity is with man and of the world, meditate and work to gain salvation, meditation and work are not important and will not gain man salvation. The second text is equally confusing and contradictory within itself and to the first text. The Devi Gita is a goddess of divine power who urges the reader to be devout only to her. She says she is also separate from the world, only later in the text to claim she is of this world and with man. Meditation is important to achieve salvation however meditating in hopes of salvation or to please the ego is not pleasing to her. Stroud claims that the narrative paradigm as it is now is not efficient in rendering an outcome for the western reader of these texts, which involve incoherence ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It includes 4 main forms – the directly, indirectly, harassment and victimisation. The direct discrimination is pretty straightforward, which happens when someone dealt with the situation unfairly based on one of the grounds and in one of the areas covered by the action. The indirect discrimination is usually less obvious than the direct form. It is usually the rules or policy that applies to everyone, which seems fair. But force is not always the right justification Force is more often than . In spite of this, most implications of force are used for extreme circumstances. With this in mind, peaceful movements have been established and pursued without the execution of violence. While some believe that it is right to solve a disagreement by force, the reality is that complications can be resolved without the use of brutality. Historical events perpetuates that non–belligerent acts are the just and right way to resolve an issue. Based on the actions of Mahatma Gandhi and Rosa Parks, the use of violent means was not necessary to achieve their goals. This type of passive resistance was a crusade of civil disobedience that lasted from 1906–1913 in South Africa. Indian men and women were confined and were even executed. Instead of them fighting back and creating a war against the people of South Africa, the British and Indian government compelled their government to finally agree acceptance of immigrated Indians. • 25. Who Was To Blame For The American Revolution Essay The American Revolution was a crucial point to the freedom of America. After the French and Indian War, the British had to pay for the costs of the war. As a result, Parliament started taxing the colonists as a way to pay the debts. This led the British to believe they could abuse their power against the colonists. The British government, rather than the colonists, was more at fault for the American Revolution. To begin with, the British government abused its power. Parliament passed many laws and taxes which infuriated the colonists. They were imposed for power, regulation, and money. These new laws encroached the freedoms of the colonists. For example, the Sugar Act of 1764 increased the tax on sugar imported from the West Indies. The Quartering Act of 1765 required colonists to provide food and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In July 1775, the Continental Congress adopted the Olive Branch Petition in hopes of a compromise. The petition promised American loyalty to Parliament as long as King George III would agree to repeal the Intolerable Acts. However, the king refused to agree on any kind of reconciliation. This proves that on the road to the revolution, the colonists tried to resolve conflicts, but the British king refused to come to a mutual agreement. Since the king declined the peace offer, the colonists only had one reasonable option. They had to fight for their freedom from Britain to escape the harsh laws and taxes that were imposed by Parliament. In conclusion, Britain was at fault for the American Revolution. Britain abused its power by making new laws in order to pay for their debts. Also, Britain would not allow the colonists to represent in Parliament. These actions made the colonist furious, which led them to protest for more rights. Lastly, the British refused to accept peace treaties, leaving the colonists with the only option of fighting back. How Did Rosa Parks Have Courage Before we can look at why Rosa Parks required physical courage when she refused to give up her seat on a Montgomery bus we must first look at what physical courage is, physical courage is the ability to have courage in the face of hardship, physical pain, or even death. So if physical courage is the ability to have courage in the face of hardship, physical pain, or even death, then Rosa Parks required physical courage when she refused to give up her seat because back in the 1955's we were not only segregated, following something called "separate but equal" but those of white descent would often take the law into their own hands and preform lynching's, and other forms of cruelty however she was willing to face ... He told how this plague was spread, how doctors refused to see their patients, and how people thought it was a punishment from god. Many of these items were very disturbing about the horrifying and black death. Scientists figured out that this plague was spread by a germ called the yersina pestis (The Black Death paragraph 2). • 33. Can Medical Service be Refused on the Basis of Morality... Refusing Service or Care Whenever there is a discussion that involves ethics and morality there always seems to be some debate. Professional ethics has become more significant over the years. As people become more specialized in their occupations, the concerns become that much more complex. Professional bodies have more and more been at work developing, revising and refining professional codes of ethics. Professionals themselves have asked for more comprehensive codes so as to have better direction. There is no longer deference to the clout of experts on the part of the public or of the client group. The standards for professional behavior keep drifting higher. "Where safety and health are at issue, the regulators are under more pressure to act when professional groups do not act" (Strahlendorf, n.d). This notion of professional ethics has really come to the forefront in relation to pharmacists and whether they can refuse to fill prescriptions based on their ethical beliefs. In a case back in 1996, Karen Brauer, a pharmacist in Hamilton, OH. refused to fill a prescription because of her religious beliefs. She was told by her employer to fill all prescriptions or be fired. She chose to loose her job (Sweeny, 2004). Pym planned to use the Grand Remonstrance as a part of his campaign to transfer control of the armed forces to Parliament by undermining the confidence and power in the King (as well as his ministers), and by further demonstrating the integrity of Parliament. The Parliament had previously gained power over Queen Elizabeth, and intended to keep it, which was obviously not in Charles' mind to do so. They were even more disturbed when Charles, along with Archbishop Laud (William Laud 1573 – 1645), began making changes to the Church of England, by decorating with stained glass windows, tapestries, statues and candlesticks. Furthermore, Charles demanded that the new English Prayer Book be used in Scottish Churches. This was a major mistake as the Scots were more anti–Catholic than the English (moreover, many of the English were Puritans – an extreme branch of Protestantism). Charles' foolish actions caused riots in Scotland against the new service, creating a war of which he lost. I believe Charles thought he could do what he want, and govern according to his own conscience even at a time where England was a very intolerant country – as many people still hated Catholics and their ideas. Charles also heavily believed in the Divine Right of Kings – the belief that God had appointed him to be King, which I think would have contributed to the conspiracy formed by the Protestants that the King was leaning towards Catholicism. • 39. Julius Caesar Ambition In the play Julius Caesar, by William Shakespeare, you will find many different themes. One theme that stuck out to me was ambition. Cassius and the others believed that Caesar was ambitious, and indeed he was a very ambitious character. Some ways that I was able to see the ambition in this character was when he defeated Pompey, refused the crown three times, he did not listen to the multiple warnings that people gave him throughout the play. These were all acts of ambition. One way that Caesar was ambitious was when he defeated Pompey. Pompey was once a very good friend and ally of his. The senate was fearful of Caesar and demanded that he got command of his army. Caesar refused and instead he marched his army into Rome, which he was not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another way the he showed ambition was, during the Feast of Lupercal, Brutus and Cassius were told by Casca that the cheering that they overheard was by Caesar refusing the crown in front of the people. Brutus then accuses Caesar of ambition, but according to Casca, he refused the crown that Mark Antony offered him three times. Caesar refused the crown it was because he did not want the people to think that he was king. This is a sign of ambition because he had a strong desire to not take the crown even after it was offered three times. One more wat that Caesar is ambitious is when he doesn't listen to Calpurnia. Calpurnia has a dream and there is an evil omens in the night storm. She then proceeds to ask Caesar not to go to the Capitol. He agrees until Decius, one of the men that was trying to help get him killed and interprets Calpurnia's dream. He then ignores the warnings of Calpurnia and the two others and proceeds to go to the Capitol. He then gives a speech and soon after is murdered. Also, among sampled children aged 19–35 months with a completed NIS telephone interview, 69% had an adequate provider–reported vaccination history returned from the mail that could be used to evaluate vaccination status. The researchers asked parents questions about whether they ever decided to delay a vaccine dose for their children and whether or not they ever decided to not get or refuse the administration of a dose. Based upon the parents' response, the researchers then categorized the parents into one of four possible delay/refusal categories. This was dependent upon whether they reported (1) neither delaying nor refusing, (2) delaying but not refusing, (3) refusing and not delaying, or (4) delaying and refusing. The parents who delayed but did not refuse were referred to as parents who "only delayed," and parents who refused but did not delay were referred to as parents who "only refused". According to the researchers, parents who reported delaying or refusing vaccines and also could remember the name of the vaccines that were delayed/refused were asked question about the reasons why they delayed or refused those vaccines. • 59. Explain Why Andrew Jackson Should Not Be On The 20 Dollar... Have you ever lost your home, family, and friends? That's what happened to 16,000 Cherokees who were forced to move west. Andrew Jackson was a general and the 7th president of America. In his years of presidency, he did expand America and did good and bad things depending on perspective. He forced Native Americans out of their lands and if they refused they were slaughtered. In my opinion, Andrew Jackson should not be on the 20 dollar bill because he relocated Native Americans, slaughtered Native Americans who refused to leave their homes, and he traded slaves. One reason Andrew Jackson should not be on the 20 dollar bill is that he relocated Native Americans. He kicked Native Americans out of their lands, leaving everything and their childhood and valued lands. According to this website "The trail continued west into Oklahoma, a total distance of nearly 1,000 miles" (Neal Lineback, 2013), the trail of tears. They traveled only to have unexplored lands, three– fourths of their colony dead, bad weather, and only to be eventually kicked off again by the ever– expanding Americans who want more land. This means that all this death and stealing doesn't mean you should be on the twenty dollar bill of the future. And yo8u might say that he did this for our country but he will never be redeemed for the lives he took. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All most all the Native Americans refused to leave their homes because no one would like to leave their old lives behind. According to the textbook "Yet most of the 17,000 Cherokee refused to honor this treaty" (Appleby, 2000). This is significant because this ruined thousands of native lives. He killed Native Americans in their homes and land And he also killed Native Americans in wars, brutally. So really Jackson should be on the 20 dollar bill is because he slaughtered Native Americans meaning he took ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

His friend, Mr. Phillips, didn 't want to get hurt either and raised his hands and still got threatened to get tased. Both Mr. Spears and Mr. Phillips both went to jail for the night with the charges of being resisting towards an officer instead of the " actual reason" on why he pulled them over which was intoxication while driving. More minorities are arrested, convicted, and jailed so they assume drug trafficking is a minority activity. People of color are more likely to get stopped and harmed for no reason at by officers even if you didn 't make physical contact with them, whereas white drivers are less likely to receive less attention from law enforcement when driving and go unapprehended on drug dealers and possessors. When officers perform vehicle searches they are usually performed on blacks more than whites even though white drivers have a higher rate of having drug and weapons. If white people have a higher rate of carrying drugs and weapons then why not stop them as much as you stop African Americans? People of color have been the main ones targeted for the war on drugs since the beginning of time time. Skin color has put an effect on drug criminality for this day and age. Despite the color of your skin being a reason on why you can get pulled over, it could also be due to the area you are located in as well as the vehicle you are driving. If you notice, law enforcement usually tend to drive or stroll through the poor neighborhoods located in the area. These type of areas usually draw more attention due to the way they look and tend to have open and easy drug deals than the higher range areas. It is not a big problem that officers stroll through areas like this because there could possibly be danger going on and they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 63. Failure Of The League Of Nations: United States Refused To... I. Failure of the League of Nations 1. United States Refused to Join A. In 1918, Woodrow Wilson, the president at the time, wrote an open letter suggesting that if the Republicans were to gain control of congress they would give ease to Germany. This accusation was false as the Republicans had backed World War I and because of this they won the 1918 elections and gained control of the Senate and the House. Lodge became the majority leader and demanded compromise on the League of Nations charter before having it passed. Wilson refused any compromise and eventually had a stroke in 1919 that incapacitated him for the remainder of his life. Warren Harding then became president in 1920, pledged opposition to the League of Nations, and it was ultimately rejected. Without the United States in the League, it suffered a major blow to the power it had as the United States was a burgeoning power. 2. Unable to Stop Aggression A. In 1931, a civil war between communists and nationalists in China was waging with Stalin backing the communists. Japan, obviously nervous at this, desired to establish a buffer state in Manchuria and promptly sent its armies in to do so. The League of Nations investigated the incident and found that Japan was guilty of aggression. In the League, the only two members that had the power to intervene were France and Britain, and they had little interest in challenging Japan. So, Japan was given a verbal punishment by the League. They then categorized the parents into one of four possible delay/refusal categories. This was dependent upon whether they reported (1) neither delaying nor refusing, (2) delaying but not refusing, (3) refusing and not delaying, or (4) delaying and refusing. In this article, the parents who delayed but did not refuse were referred to as parents who "only delayed," and parents who refused but did not delay were referred to as parents who "only refused". According to the researchers, parents who reported delaying or refusing vaccines and could remember the name of the vaccines that were delayed/refused were asked question about the reasons why they delayed or refused those vaccines. The parents' beliefs about vaccines were assessed and the researchers used current data from the 2009 NIS to correlate the parents' report of delay/refusal with the four psychosocial domains that index the Health Belief Model. To measure those domains, parent were read 11 statements to provide a verbatim response whether on a scale of zero to 10, where zero meant strongly disagree and 10 meant strongly agree. An evaluation of vaccination status was conducted. Most people think of Superman, Batman, or other fictional characters, but what makes them heroes? When you think about it more, you may figure out that there is more to the meaning of a hero. A hero is someone who perform brave acts and inspire others to stand up for themselves. Rosa Parks truly exemplifies the word hero because she shows courtesy, changed history, and is an inspiration to others. Rosa Parks is a hero because she shows courtesy. The poem "Rosa", written by Rita Dove, describes Rosa as a simple woman and explains how Rosa Parks was calm when she was arrested from refusing to give up her seat. The description of Rosa Parks helps me infer that she showed courtesy. When Rosa refused to give up her seat, the police came and handcuffed her. Rosa did not fight back, instead she was kept quiet and let the police handcuff her. Most African Americans who refused to give up their seats and then got handcuffed, fought back with violence. The overthrow involved many people and groups who supported Hawaii being annexed, such as Lorrin Thurston and The Committee of Safety. However, there were also many people who were against it including, Robert Wilcox, James Blount, and Aloha Aina. The overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom happened on January 17, 1893, where the provisional government took over and declared martial law in Hawaii. The Hawaiian Kingdom was officially annexed by the United States on August 12, 1898. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Annexation Club (which was later renamed to the Committee of Public Safety) forced king Kalakaua to sign the Bayonet Constitution which took away many Hawaiians right to vote, and gave the voting privilege to many foreigners. According to The Overthrow–Part One, the privilege of voting was no longer limited to citizens of the kingdom, but extended to foreign residents, either American or European. This excluded asians to vote even if the asians became naturalized citizens. The reason why Kalakaua was forced to sign this constitution is because The Annexation Club had power over the Honolulu Rifles, which made the Annexation club armed with many weapons. The group made demands on Kalakaua, including an immediate change of the King's cabinet ministers. Under threat of violence, on July 1, 1887, the King reluctantly agreed to form a new cabinet ministers made up of League members (The History of the Hawaiian Kingdom). • 77. The War Of The Vietnam War The Vietnam war was probably one of the most, if not the most unpopular war in US history. Civil disobedience began before the war was even in full swing. Men would refused to register for the military draft. And when they actually had registered for the draft the men began to publicly burn their draft cards. As if that wasn't enough of a sap in the face to the government they began to not just burn their draft cards but actually sent them back to the government. In response to these refuses the government began to prosecute the men who refused; by the end there were over thirty–three thousand imprisoned for refusing the draft. When their pleads for peace were not heard, citizens then turned to the use of horrific actions. United States citizens began to commit suicide in order to be heard. In Washington when pentagon workers finished their day and were leaving, they were met by Norman Morrison. Morrison was so fed up with the war that he drenched him self in gasoline, lit himself on fire, and proceeded to burn to death in public to protest the war. Sadly, enough this was not the only suicide case, a year later Alice Herz fallowed in Morrison's footsteps and also set fire to herself. Then when bombings in North Vietnam began to take place, US citizens gathered in Boston to protest. But this wasn't just any normal protest, during this particular protest over one hundred thousand (some think the number was actually closer to two million) citizens attended and peace rallies ...
