The case study discusses the implementation of Rotork type K damper drives at the Florida Power & Light Manatee Station to replace obsolete inlet damper drives, emphasizing the critical need for rapid damper operation in maintaining boiler pressure and safety. The type K drives, capable of full 90-degree movements in under 3 seconds, were designed to resolve issues related to combustion efficiency and prevent catastrophic equipment failures. Testing confirmed that the new drives performed effectively, ensuring readiness for electricity generation and meeting the operational demands of the power plant.
