Residential Schools : Residential School System Setup For...
Residential schools. Residential school refers to a boarding school system setup for Aboriginal
children that operated from the 1880s until the late twentieth century education. This system was put
in place to "kill the Indian in the child" ( Loppie et al., 2013, p. 6; Miller, 2004, p. 35) While at these
boarding schools, they were not permitted to speak their language or practice anything of their
culture. These schools were run by religious men and woman. The children were only educated up
to grade five level, and only to become work as general laborers in factories or in the home. The
focus of their education was to have them, assimilate into 'Euro–Canadian' culture, were ultimately
this was cultural genocide. Moreover, reports of emotional, physical, and sexual abuse are well
documented from survivors of residential schools. Moreover, there were cases of medical
experiments being conducted on children. Many children died at residential schools due to
maltreatment (FNHA, n.d., para. 22; UBC, 2004, para. 1–3). After exploring and analyzing the
literature and understanding the history which affects the issue at hand, it is possible to view this
issue through historical, political, social, cultural and ethical lens to better understand the situation
as it is today. Colonialist policies were put in place, which segregated and marginalized AP which
affected the dominant culture views as to what behaviours/attitudes are socially acceptable to have

English Class Reflection
I can say with a high degree of confidence that AP Upper–Mid English has been unlike any other
English course that I have taken during my academic career. Put plainly, the material and in–class
instruction of the class is revelatory in every sense of the term, and, overall, the organization and
matter of the course was exceptional. In terms of the organization of the course as a whole, I believe
that the English Department was able to successfully distill all of the dominant aspects of learning
that an English class epitomizes into the relatively short period of time that school is in session. In
my experience, I have found the class to be organized and structured competently. The schedule,
curriculum, and writing assignments were easy to understand and I felt as though I exited the
classroom every class feeling as if I accomplished what I had to for that day and I had a definite grip
on what to expect for the next class. That being said, I think it is also imperative for me to mention
that the course was not overly constricting or overly–structured either –– the schedule had enough
malleability to accommodate for impromptu activities. For instance, when Bob Levy, an acclaimed
journalist for the Washington Post, visited Taft, our class used our period to have a invigorating
conversation with him about the future of Internet Privacy, a conversation that I think was
instructive and, in all likelihood, prepared me for the AP Exam just as much as the traditional class
that we

NCAA Football Playoff System Essay
NCAA Football Playoff System
Thesis: The Bowl Championship Series (BCS) formula has been used to determine the top twenty–
five teams in NCAA Division I college since 1998. Many think this system is inadequate and should
be changed. The alternative is a playoff system that would give more of the top teams a chance to be
named the NCAA football National Champion.

Brad Edwards, a writer for ESPN.com, has this to say about the computer system: "Though this may
be the weakest part of the (BCS) equation, it can still make a difference. Last year, pollsters
eventually overlooked Wisconsin's loss to Cincinnati, but the computers didn't. The result: the
Badgers had an average computer ranking of 7.71 despite ranking fourth in both polls." 7.71 is the
average of where the team is in the rankings among the top twenty–five teams in the nation
according to the seven computers.
The second part of the Bowl Championship Series formula is the two polls. One comes from the
associated press and the other comes from coaches around the league. The Associated Press polls are
organized by a number of different newspapers, magazines, and media. While the NCAA football
coaches put together the Coaches poll. "This is probably the most critical element of the four
because it has only two subsets (the media and coaches polls) to be averaged" (Edwards). The polls
are run similarly to the computers; the two ranking are simply averaged together. "The impact held
by each poll is greater than that of any one computer or any one opponent. It is no coincidence that
the top two poll teams have played for the national title in both years of the

Why Should Video Games Be Considered A Sport
Last year's League of Legends tournament racked up an acme of 11.2 billion viewers while the NHL
(National Hockey League) Final only hit 8 million. These statistics show just how popular video
games are and must be recognized as sport. Video games should recognized as sport, for they meet
the requirements and compared to other sport they are similar in terms of requiring skill and having
scholarships. The official definition of a sport is, "An activity involving physical exertion and skill
in which an individual or team competes another or others for entertainment." Technically they are a
sport. Esports (electronic sports) have teams or individuals from countries, states, counties or
districts that come that compete in tournaments state, country or worldwide. ... Show more content

It also lack physical activity. Well to this there is an example that proves that wrong. Take a look at
the Xbox Kinect. You have to physically move to play games that require it like Just Dance 1 to 4 or
Kinect Sports. Another example is the Wii with the single hand–held remotes that require movement
to interact with the console. Another issue people have with video games being classified as a sport
is the mental health issue. They say people lose a sense of reality. Well this could all be avoid to to
one simple task, adequate limits of video gaming. Video games are okay to play, but not overly
excessively. You can take regular breaks like reading, walking, going outside for fresh air, etc.
Finally in conclusion, video games should be recognized as sport since they meet the requirements
of other sports, require the skills and also offers scholarship opportunities. Like the statistics show
Last year's League of Legends tournament racked up about eleven billion one hundred ninety–two
million more viewers than the National Hockey League Final. Do you think video games should be
something that bring people together and teach them teamwork or just a waste of time and

Descriptive Essay On Baseball
As we were sitting there, you could feel the excitement running through the stadium. It was the
same stadium that we've been to many times before. The smell of the hotdogs, the luscious ivy that
was in the outfield, and the organ being played. All of the things were the same, but this time
everything was different. Everyone knew what was happening. This could be the first time in over
100 years that the Cubs could make the World Series. As the game was getting close to over,
finishing the 8th going into the 9th inning, we were hoping that this year would be the year to finally
have the shot. We hoped that our lousy luck in the playoffs doesn't affect us again. This time we
could have it, we were almost there. All of these years where our dream has fell apart finally coming
together to put us in the right place. All of us prayed there wouldn't have to be a Game 7 and that it
could happen tonight. It could be the day that we finally clinch the National League.
The final inning was finally starting off. The nerves were streaming all throughout the ballpark,
from the stands, to the bleachers, to the field. Aroldis Chapman was taking the mound ready to be
the beast he normally was. His throws were like lightning, fast and shocking. The first batter of the
inning came up. The at bat was quick and the hitter was struck out swinging like a wrecking ball.
The next hitter comes up. After seeing a lot of speedy pitches and a long at bat, he finally drew a
walk. All of the Cubs fans

Should videogames be considered a sport?
With the advancement in technology and the growing gaming world, Esports are growing rapidly,
the competition is getting tougher in tournaments, and millions are tuning in to watch. Some people
says that the video games shouldn't or will never be a Sport, but the thing that they don't know is
that is slowly becoming one with no one noticing it. The Sports "are all forms of usually competitive
physical activity or games which, through casual or organized participation, aim to use, maintain or

there's something call PC GAMER, that are specially sated computers with huge power to run any

are the most common method of watching tournaments. (10)." When a championships happens

Should Sports Be Better Workers At Our Jobs?
Each and every one of us is familiar with the concept of competition. Some of us have played sports
as children, been involved in review games in class, or even have sat down with our family to play a
simple board game. These types of activities may require different materials or levels of
understanding, but they all revolve around competition. It can also be argued that competition is
what drives us to success in life. We strive to become better workers at our jobs and better students
in class ahead of all of those behind us. Sports are one of the most popular forms of competition that
we can observe in today 's society. When it comes down to the actual definition of a sport, where do
we draw the line of what really is a sport? Nowadays ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Football teams in the NFL practice multiple times a week for a wide variety of different things.
There is a lot of physical training and working out involved on the field and in the gym, but there
are also activities off the field that are given attention by players and coaching staff. Daily meetings
to talk about the condition of the team and video studies are just some of the activities that players
must stay on top of. Esport teams must follow a similar schedule, although physical exercise is taken
care of on their own time. A lot of pro players that play League of Legends have reported practicing
for 10–14 hours a day for 5–6 days per week. If they are not practicing strategy or new characters in
the game, they will stream online for their viewers to enjoy. This schedule is even more strict than
some actual jobs that are out there, only needing 8 hours a day in the office. Besides playing the
game, Esport teams will get together and talk strategy, previous games, and ways that they can
perform better as a team. Whether it be on the field or in a comfy desk chair, both types of
competition require intense training and dedication to the game not all players can maintain in their
daily lives
Dedication from fans is also a factor that makes a sport more or less popular. In the US, football is
one of the most popular sports in the country. On

Summary: The Pirtek Enduro Cup
We had a fast weekend at Bathurst and now we turn our attention to the Gold Coast 600, the final
race in the Pirtek Enduro Cup. With the Whincup penalty under appeal, the championship lead is in
a state of flux, but it's still a two horse race between the #88 and #97. SVG won a race here last year
and Whincup was on the podium for both races in 2014. With two events to go after the completion
of the GC600, now is the time for this year's championship to step forward and assert their charge
for the trophy. TRIPLE EIGHT RACE ENGINEERING: How quick was the #88 all weekend at
Bathurst? Rolled out of the truck quick and seemed to be quick regardless of the session time or
driver. The shootout lap was one of the great laps around the mountain and then he and Dumbrell
had pace throughout the race. While they were heavier on fuel than those around them, the pace they
showed was undeniable. Whincup doing 2.06's lap after lap during the race was incredible to
witness, and showed how much confidence he had in the car. The result while under appeal, 1st or
11th, I won't continue on, but they had pace. Flicking towards the GC, Jamie and PD had a best
finish of 7th over the two races. They will need to stay ahead of the #97 in the stops to avoid double
stacking, but if they bring half the pace they had at Bathurst, they'll be hard to catch. ... Show more

The #888 battled for pace most of the weekend and qualified down the back. A rare failure in the car
cost them laps and while they continued to circulate, they were barely sighted thereafter. To salvage
a result at the GC would be vital for Lowndes to hold onto 3rd in the championship. Looking
forward to that race, I can't recommend this car over any of the other T8 entries. It's been a lean
endurance season for the Vortex team, and while they could be on the podium, I can't see a win for
this car unless they get near the pace of the other entries in the

The 10 year contract which Tom Hicks and his team proposed for Alex Rodriguez was one of the
biggest ever in the history of Baseball. It was a major Investment decision for the group. The Group

Competitive Gaming
Competitive gaming, also known as e–sports, is becoming a worldwide phenomenon. With huge
events and tournaments that are watched by millions of passionate fans, many people are beginning
to question whether playing video games can be considered a real sport. Even though e–sports may
not be as physically demanding as traditional sports like football and basketball, the structure, strong
fan base and the requirements to seriously contend in the competitive gaming scene legitimize it as a
"real" sport. It is important to gain an understanding of the complete picture of e–sports before
classifying it as a real sport. Competitive gaming's origins ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Last October, Riot held the League of Legends Season 2 World Championships, a tournament that
brought the world's best teams together for a week of intense matches. $1 million went to the overall
champion, while a total of $5 million was spread out over the course of Season 2. Apart from the
unprecedented cash prizes, the League of Legends tournament was able to bring in over 8 million
"unique viewers" online, viewership that is greater than the National Hockey League's (Heaven and
Robinson). In South Korea individual e–sports events for the popular real–time strategy game
StarCraft 2 bring in over 100,000 live attendants to go alongside huge numbers of online spectators
(Robinson). On top of this, competitive gaming's popularity is continuing to grow through 2013.
David Ting, founder of Imagine Game Network's professional gaming league, states that online
traffic for the company's tournaments is "doubling every six months"(qtd. in Heaven). Who
would've thought that playing video games would turn into such a loved spectator sport? Apart from
the large following of people, the competitive gaming scene shares many of the same structural
characteristics as traditional sports like football and baseball, as is shown by the game League of
Legends. Like conventional games, League of Legends features a regular season where prominent
and upcoming teams verse each other to climb the standings in their divisions. When the regular

League Of Legends Stereotypes
League of Legends, a fast paced real time strategy game published by Riot Games, upholds the title
of "one of the world's most popular video games" (David Segal). A League of Legends game
consists of a five man team paired against another five man team, in which players control a vast
majority of unique characters called "champions". League practically defines the new age of real
time strategy game, with over "67 million people every month" (Riot Games), a bonus feature to it's
vast player base is that it's free to play. League is also extremely huge in the field of video game
tournaments, those enlisted in these tournaments are the most ruthless of players, they are the
epitome of perfection in League of Legends. A popular video game that anyone can get into for free,
brings in different types of people of all genders, race, and personalities. With this in mind, along
with the stereotype that most teenage boys indulge themselves in video games, it makes sense that
this game with huge amounts of diversity is sexist? – That is the case that this free to play video
game has fallen to. If you were to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Only a select number of players are allowed to be in this tournament and is only open to those who

women found in the NA LCS, there is exactly one single women found in the NA LCS 2016 series

An Exploration Of The Pepcon Disaster And Its Aftermath
An Exploration of the PEPCON Disaster And Its Aftermath What began as normal repair work at
the Pacific Engineering and Production Company of Nevada (PEPCON) in May of 1988, resulted in
devastation. PEPCON was one of two manufacturing facilities of Ammonium Perchlorate (AP),
located in Clark County, NV, approximately 10 miles southeast of downtown Las Vegas (Lilley,
2012). AP is an oxidizer that when combined with aluminum makes the base for solid–state rocket
fuel (Dunbar, 2006). Due to the recent Space Shuttle Challenger disaster, all space exploration by
NASA was halted, and a stockpile of around 4,000 tons of AP built up and was stored onsite (Lilley,

4). Each of these materials is makes AP act as a class–A explosive as explained in Appendix B. Also,
within many buildings at the PEPCON facility, dust control was either minimal or nonexistent,
while cleaning was only performed before safety inspections (Lambert & Alvares, 2003, p.7). This
led to massive AP buildups on all flat surfaces which it is assumed exasperated the situation further
once the fire started (Lambert & Alvares, 2003, p.7). The incredibly risky storage practices of this
powerful oxidizer made PEPCON a disaster waiting to happen.
The Facility And Its Safety Features The PEPCON facility was broken up into multiple buildings,
the most important of which to this incident is the batch–drying building located in the southwest
portion of the facility (map of PEPCON is attached as Appendix A) (Routley, n.d., p. 22). The batch
dryer was used to blend and dry AP to prepare it for final packing, however, this facility was not
suitable for this work due to its construction. The building was constructed of combustible fiberglass
with steel supports (Routley, n.d., p.8). AP residue built up on the fiberglass and accelerated the fire
out of control once it started (Routley, n.d., p.8). This risk was known by PEPCON as there had
been previous fires in this building, however nothing was done to deter future fires (Case

Should College Athletes Be Paid?
College sports has become extremely popular over the past few years. With the March Madness
tournament held in March and the new College Football Playoff held in January, the NCAA has
achieved a great deal of attention and high television ratings. Although colleges make tons of money
off of their athletes, college athletes receive plenty of compensation. Paying student athletes would
cross the line between professionalism and amateurism and would violate the essence of being a
student athlete. Student athletes should not be paid. A misconception is that all athletic programs in
the NCAA make head–over–toe profit. There are three divisions of intercollegiate athletics, and
frankly division three athletic programs don't make as much or have a profit when compared to
division one programs. "Critics of paying college athletes note that only a small number of them
compete in sports or on teams that actually generate revenue". (Paying College Athletes) The truth is
only a fraction of athletic programs are actually profitable, while most pose a cost to the institution.
The question arises primarily in division one programs and typically in the sports of basketball and
football. The argument is made that these institutions receive millions of dollars from their student
athletes' performance, in return they should be paid. Student athletes are not any type of employee or
a professional athlete who get paid a salary with incentives for a career in sports. They are students
who gain

I grew up and lived out my childhood in Sioux City, IA. I am a first–generation American from two
Mexican parents who immigrated to this great country. My mother is a full–time housekeeper at a
hotel in the state over and my dad is a full–time carpenter. I would describe myself as blessed as I
have never had to feel the pain of hunger. Even though I do have less than my friends I make up for
it with work ethic. I had to learn to work hard as a young kid trying to call doctors and make
appointments, this is so because my parents didn't speak the language. Though some would say that
it is a misfortune I beg to differ. Even though I had difficulties with some of the duties given to me, I
grew up with independence. I was never a child who was afraid of asking questions, I often hear and
see the anxiety some individuals have with simply asking for a ketchup packet at a fast food joint.
Independence is an important attribute I believe I gained, because of something my parents lacked.
Though I was never an awkward child I was an overly worrisome child. At a young age, I was
involved in the financial aspect of my home. This meant that as a child I understood the value of
money. However, this had its problems, it meant that at the age of 8 was worried if I spent that spare
dollar on a packet of gum my parents would later find themselves in the need of a dollar. I
eventually grew to understand how the spare dollar could be spent without the fear of Armageddon.

In high school, I felt that a vital part of my education was missing my freshman year since we did
not have to take any social studies class. This made me feel like we had been cheated in some way.
So, when I had the choice of taking college prep World History or Advanced Placement European
History the following year, I chose to take AP because I felt like history should be something
challenging that forces one to think and question information. I knew it would be rigorous, but if
history doesn't make you think critically, it carries no meaning. However, the first semester didn't go
well and I failed. Frustrated by this failure and feeling powerless, I dug in my heels the second
semester and began to study more and yet still wasn't getting the answers right. On the night before
the AP European Test, I made one final attempt to atone for my lackluster study skills earlier in the
year by reading my textbook cover–to–cover. It worked because I passed with a three on the AP
exam and felt motivated to do better come eleventh grade. I no longer stayed up all night or had to

thirty years old for reasons like injuries. ACL/MCL tears are the most common injury that is actually
serious. Some players in this sport are too big to tackle in their upper body, so they get tackled in
their lower body, like their knees. This is one cause of ACL/MCL ... Show more content on

I play for Memorial so I can say, it is a risky sport. I love it, and there are lots injuries that can
happen though. Hits, blocking shots, constantly being hit by sticks; all of these can cause some form
of injury. Players face lots of bruises, but some of these can cause a more serious, long term injury
such as knee, elbow and hand injuries. Basketball can be high risk. I've seen some very graphic
injuries from watching a basketball game. All sports have some sort of injury possibility, but this oe
would definitely be on the bottom of the rest. Main injuries are ankle sprains, jammed fingers, or
some of the possible more severe injuries include knee injuries. My experience with injuries aren't a
whole lot, because I would like to say I don't put myself into situation to get hurt a whole lot. I have
faced a lot of bruises in lacrosse and they hurt, but they eventually go away. I have been in a lot of
pain after a few slashes to my hand, I came out right away because of the pain. I hung in there and
finished and it eventually went away. I've never broken a bone, and I have never gotten hurt to the

My Life, The Arts, And World Events
Everyone strives to do better and succeed, why would people want to do worse? The key to
succeeding may be different across unique people, but a trait known as grit was introduced by a
psychologist named Angela Duckworth in a TedTalk, "...One characteristic emerged as a significant
predictor of success. It wasn 't social intelligence, it wasn 't good looks, physical health, and it wasn
't IQ: It was grit." Grit, in my words, is the capability of failing or persevering through difficulties
and still being able to succeed in the end. Whether you are or not familiar with grit, it has the
potential to change lives, and examples of this trait are shown in my personal life, the arts, and
world events. To begin with, the topic of grit can be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I also found the time to make some new friends, where we would celebrate after a great run–through
or march together through the countless and repetitive sets. This grit helped me to persevere after it
seemed like I was on the verge of quitting, and I followed through on my commitments. Not only is
this trait seen in my own personal experiences, but it also flourishes in the arts. Furthermore, the
trait of grit can be connected to a film named "The Martian" which is part of the arts. This movie,
originally a novel published by Andy Weir, was released in 2015 starring Matt Damon (Mark
Watney) and directed by Ridley Scott. The setting already starts on Mars when Mark, the botanist of
his crew, have set up base and are collecting rock samples. They see a massive dust storm
approaching and they attempt to evacuate from the planet. In this storm, Watney is blown away and
is isolated from the rest of the group, and the rest of the team assumes he is dead and take off
without him. However, the next day, Watney startles awake makes it back to base and realizes he has
been left alone; he is certain he is going to die. The lab setup is only able to last 31 days, he can run
out of food, and if the oxygenator breaks he will suffocate, if the water reclaimer breaks he will die
of thirst, and it will take at least four years for another trip to Mars where his crew or NASA can
save him. Despite all of the troubles, Mark shows

The League Of Legends World Championship
Imagine an enormous arena completely filled with screaming, ecstatic fans cheering for their
corresponding teams that have come to compete that day. Behind the scenes, the athletes are
nervous, they are about to compete in the biggest, most important event of their lives. However, they
are professionals, so they have trained a majority of their lives for this moment, constantly
practicing their craft, going over film, and working alongside their teammates in order to achieve
their ultimate goal, winning the championship. This description at first look may seem to be
describing a championship sporting event such as the NBA Finals, the World Series, Stanley Cup
Finals or even the World Cup Final. However, none of these events are what is being depicted. What
is actually being illustrated is the finals for numerous Esports competitions such as the League of
Legends World Championship or the StarCraft World Championship Series. Ever since the first
invention of video games, there has always been a stigma that came with being a gamer. Gamers
have always been labeled as geeky, nerdy, immature, and even fat and lazy. Some of the public's
perception of Esports as well as their desire to not have it labeled as a real sport in Esports' brief
history exemplifies the stigma and negative connotation of the word "gamer." However, in the
increasingly innovative and technological modern world, the idea that Esports should not socially or

Ever since it has been established there has not been a team with 3 losses in the top 5. Only one time
has there been a two loss team to make it to the National Championship game. An argument against
having a playoff would be that teams would be rewarded for having an easy strength of schedule and
not scheduling difficult out of conference games. There would not be much reason for a non–power
conference teams to schedule difficult games out of conference if it means more to go undefeated. In
NCAA Basketball non major conferences teams that don't schedule may get unlucky when it comes
to making NCAA tournament do to a lack of strength of Schedule. For conferences such as the
Southeastern Conference and Big 12 which the teams are better should get rewarded by having more
difficult games. A one loss team in the Southeastern Conference shows much more than a one loss
Mountain West conference. This would be unfair to the major conferences. It was because of this
reason that the BCS takes in consideration the Strength of schedule and quality wins. In 2002 Miami
was left out of the title game even though they beat Florida State head to head and yet Florida State
made it. Florida State lost and Miami won its bowl game to take in consideration quality wins. One
may say that a problem with the playoff is that a number one ranked team can have a bad day and

The Bias Claims Are Not Necessarily False?
Every year, college football fans become engrossed with the weekly rankings released after the
weekend's games. Unsurprisingly, the standings often attract much criticism when a team is not
placed as high as the fans feel it should be. Three of the most well–known ranking systems, based
on algorithms as well as voting, include the Associated Press Poll, the Coaches Poll, and the College
Football Playoff rankings. Often, there are discrepancies between each of these polls and fans are
quick to make claims of bias when one poll ranks their team lower, or a rival team higher. However,
in some cases, the bias claims are not necessarily false. Due to the nature of the polling system, a
certain level of bias is simply unavoidable, and a more effective ranking system can only attempt to
minimize this bias. One of the well–known polling systems is the Associated Press College Football
Top 25 poll. The top 25 teams according to Associated Press are "determined by a simple points
system based on how each voter ranks college football's best teams" (Associated Press). This points
system is based roughly on the Borda Count, where the best No. 1 team is given 25 points and each
following ranked team is given 1 less point and the total points are added across all the voters.
However, the bias comes into play when the 60 individuals vote. The votes are compiled from
sportswriters and broadcasters from various states and not every state has an equal number of voted
allocated. For example,

Do You Think Video Games Should Be A Sport?
Cameron,Junkins
April/7/16
What if I told you that video games is a sport? Do you agree? I strongly agree that Gaming should
be a sport. I believe so because it requires skill, strategy, and team effort. Esports players known as
"Gamers" train for hours including days, till they have their tournaments. ESports is rising higher
and higher each year, for an example "Last year's League of Legends tournament peaked at 11.2
million viewers, for example, whereas the NHL Finals only hit 8 million." (DEBATE FROM THE

Gaming is as similar as any other sport as in gulf, football, basketball, etc, with all their plans,
strategies, and "There's only experience". "Games help people expand their mind beyond what most
other people can even imagine. . It uses as much mind as about any other sport. Just because it
doesn't use physical activity doesn't mean it can't be a sport. Some sports barely require physical
activity instead they focus mainly on thought, for example chess. You can easily play chess, not with
physical attributes, but using strategy. The company Virtuix are making games more physical. They
are making a device called Virtuix Omni. This machine will make it so you will be able to control
what the character does by your body movement. They have made similar devices like this before,
like the Kinect for the Xbox 360, but for this device you will have grooves in the floor so when you
run, the character will run. When you jump, the character jumps." "Games may not need physical
activity, but just like any other athletic endeavor gaming requires tremendous skill and strategy.
Games can be played individually or on a team. Games will force you to work as a team and make
up plans on how you would beat the other team. Gaming will make you have your own part on the
team and have to work together to dominate the big tournaments. People who play as professional

Should Student Athletes Be Paid?
It is mid–February and for college athletes and fans everywhere that means that the College Football
"Bowl" season is over and "March Madness" is around the corner. The "Bowl" Season is a series of
college football games from the elite teams, sponsored by various corporations and "March
Madness" is a 68 team single elimination tournament to decide who the best team in college
basketball is. For the students involved they get a chance to have their legacy live on forever and for
some it is a chance to show professional teams they have what it takes to compete on the next level,
but for the universities it is a chance to bring in millions of dollars in revenue. As a student–athlete,
and a volunteer basketball coach, I believe that it is unfair that student athletes across the country
have decided to give their lives to these sports in hopes that they get lucky and "win the lottery" by
making in into professional sports. I believe that student athletes have earned the right to be
compensated for their hard work, dedication and commitment to these universities across the
country. On January 12th 2015 Ohio States football team strapped on their helmets and laced up
their shoes to play The Oregon Ducks football team in the BCS Championship Game on National

Comparison Between Sports And Sports Essay
Esports vs Sports The roar of the crowd, the rush of adrenaline as you watch your favorite team take
the field, the excitement of watching your team score, and how you feel during a close game are all
aspects of watching sports that people tend to identify with. Sports aretraditionally been thought of
as physical activities. However, in recent years Esports, better known as competitive gaming, have
begun to take the world by storm with record prize pools and viewership numbers. Fans of
competitive gaming get to experience of all the same aspects that people that watch physical sports.
Both sports and competitive gaming have organizations and salaries for players who are also
allowed to take on sponsorships for themselves. In all sports they require some type of teamwork
and coordination to make certain plays happen, but competitive gaming in a game such as League of
Legends has a far different lifestyle than say, football. These two sports have many similarities like;
their reliance on teamwork to win, the players training days, their type of internal structure, and the
structure of their competitions and leagues; but also differ in multiple ways such as organizations
and players have different opportunities to succeed or fail. Physical sports and Esports show to be
very similar and vastly different. Football and League of Legends competitions are more alike than
most people would assume they are. We all can relate to one team that we root for like with the

Why College Athletes Should Get Paid And Why They Shouldn't
November 18, 2014
Ebeling 2
Intro:
How much harder would athletes work if they were paid for their performance on the field, track, or
court? College athletes are put to the test each and everyday, they risk their health to entertain
millions day in and day out. College athletes deserve part of the money due to the revenue they
bring in for their schools and for the NCAA, they deserve the money because they do not have time
to get a job because they are practicing and training at least 40 hours a week, they should also get
paid because they are used as marketing models for the ncaa and for their universities. College
athletes also should not get paid because they are already getting paid in scholarship money. College
athletes deserve to get paid because they are putting their bodies on the line just so the NCAA and
their sponsors can make money.
Lit Review:
Throughout my paper I will demonstrate many different ideas on whether college athletes should get
paid why they should not. I will talk about the things paying the athletes will do for the NCAA, how
it is unfair for athletes to be used and not get anything out of those moments, and they generate
revenue for the NCAA just on certain players presence. I will also talk about why college athletes
should not get paid. They

Analysis: Should Video Games Be Considered As A Sport?
Should gaming be considered as a sport? Google classifies a sport as an activity that involves
physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team compete against another or others for
entertainment. Many activities such as Polo, Chess, Golf, Poker.etc are considered a sport because
they require focus and strategy but video games requires the same amount of skill and strategy if not
more. Video game being considered as a sport seems hard to believe but the growing popularity of
gaming is changing the public's perception. From just starting out as a hobby video games has

The gaming industry grew 4 times faster than the US economy in 2012 by bringing in $6.2 billion
dollars into the economy. (Nick Statt). Some of the reasons that gaming is bringing in money is
mainly by sales whether it is putting out games, downloading content, gaming tournaments
involving the game, and advertising the game in giveaways. Video games bring people together; it
requires a tremendous amount of skill, strategy, team–work and determination. Traditional sports
such as basketball and football involve physical movement of the whole body but video games are
limited to only using your hands but that doesn't mean it should be overlooked as a sport. Video
games bring the fun out of people that can't always get out and play sports like other people. Not
everyone that plays video games is athletically challenged. Many NBA stars have even admitted to
playing video games after games, practices and meetings such as Kevin Durant, Dwight Howard,
and LeBron James. Gaming might eventually be considered a sport if more people in the community
interact with games and other might consider the games their profession throughout their life.
Gaming brings people together and makes people happy, can relieve people of their stress and lets
gamers meet other people from different states and countries and make new friends and possibly
relationships. Video games should be considered a sport sometimes soon because the more the
gaming franchises grow then eventually the gaming community will grow and more people will get

The BCS National Championship Game Essay
From the first two national champions, Rutgers and Princeton, to last year's debateable Auburn
national championship winning team, college football has always had difficulties deciding national
champions. The BCS National Championship game was thought to give a less prejudice opinion on
which teams play in the championship game than humans did. However, it has stimulated more
controversy in college sports than Cal–Stanford "The Play." The problem with the BCS teams is, it
chooses two teams that are based on profit, popularity, and record. The BCS is in need of
replacement by a playoff system because with a playoff system college football teams have more of
an opportunity to show themselves.

Both of those teams finished with one loss on the season and finished first and fourth in the BCS
polls, Utah finished sixth. One third of the standings are also based on coach's polls this means that
one third of the standings are based off of bias people who don't watch every game each week, thus,
making them incapable of deciding who should be ranked and who shouldn't. A playoff system
would eradicate such controversy by allowing teams such as Utah to play in a playoff.
"Surely, the NCAA and Division I–A football can join the other 23 intercollegiate sports and devise
a system that determines a true champion, preserves the integrity of the game and levels the playing
field, LaVell Edwards, Former Brigham Young University Coach." This statement was made to the
Senate last summer by the only coach to win a national championship at Brigham Young. In every
other collegiate sport in the United States the champion is decided by a playoff system. Even the
NFL, NBA, MLB, and NHL the champion is decided by a playoff. The excuse that most of BCS
executives is that you cannot have one hundred twenty teams playing in a playoff. Nevertheless, the
FCS formerly Division 1–AA who has one hundred forty teams plays under a very effective 16 team
playoff format. The BCS has infringed themselves among college football due to the root of all sins,

First Principle Area
The management principles are very important in the Football Bowl Association. Their main
objective is the following; "The 41 bowl games aim to create a unique experience for the fans that
travel and show support beyond the regular season games."(FBA) The Football Bowl Association
strives through the fans they gain from various college football games. They have to plan and
organize 41 bowl games that will take place are the United States of America. This involves
reserving the field, hotels, prizes, and events. For each bowl game the players are also given a
chance to give back their own time to communities around the city they will play in, this usually
involves visiting hospitals or helping out at food banks. (FBA) The all has to be planned and
organized with specific detail and dealing with weather and transportation for a large number of
teammates. When the events are being planned the manager in charge is required to be able to lead
making sure everything is going according to schedule, as well as having good communication skills
to make sure nothing is left out. The manager in charge of these events has to have quick decision
making skills in case an event falls through. Every single thing can be planned down to the smallest
detail, but unfortunately everything cannot be controlled. Florida is one of the most bipolar states

what is right or wrong. Others view that athletes are already receiving pay with scholarships.
Athletes in higher revenue generating sports, comparable to basketball and football, are usually

People all over the United States believe that a selection of the money should go back to the players.
They believe not much, but a little bit of the revenue made would go back into a fund to pay these
college athletes. The argument against giving these players compensation starts with the athletic
departments. These people say that the athletic departments already operate under the red. However,
the athletic departments cannot operate in the red since they bring anywhere from $30 million to
$163 million in revenue every year. The only schools that possibly operate in a deficit would be the
smaller, less popular schools. Although to help out, the BCS, Bowl Championship Series, gives
83.4% of their $174 million in revenue from 5 bowl games to 6 different conferences. When the
conferences develop the money, they split the money with the colleges of their conference. For
example, in 2007, the $36 million made from the BCS championship game was disrupted to Florida

Article 4. Persons subject to the rules shall not intentionally contact a game official forcibly during
the game. PENALTY– Unsportsmanlike conduct. Administer as a dead–ball foul. 15 yards from the
succeeding spot and automatic disqualification. Automatic first down for fouls by Team B if not in
conflict with other rules. This is the official rule in question as written in the 2016 and 2017 NCAA
Football Rules and Interpretations. If you have been paying attention to the bowl games the last few
days, this rule has come up in two key instances. The first was on December 29th in the Music City
Bowl featuring Kentucky and Northwestern while the second happened on December 30th in the
Orange Bowl between Miami and Wisconsin. Here is what happened, the response dictated by the
rules, and how the officials involved should have reacted. Music City Bowl What Happened:
Arguably Kentucky's best offensive player, running back Benny Snell, was handed the ball on a
running play in the second quarter of the game. Snell was tackled for a loss by numerous
Northwestern players who, while not breaking any rules themselves, were pretty rough slamming
him to the ground. As Snell was getting up, an official stood over him and reached out both hands
towards Snell's upper chest. Snell reached up and grasped the official by the wrists and pushed the
official lightly away by shaking his head. A flag was thrown, a 15–yard penalty was enforced, and
Snell was ejected from the game. What the Rules Say: According to the rules, the official made the
right call. Snell did intentionally contact a game official, and there is also a strong argument that, by
pushing the officials hands away, Snell contacted the official forcibly. What Should Have Happened:
The official should have realized that Snell was just downright mauled by Northwestern players at
the end of a play that lost his team a

Persuasive Essay Video Games
Do you think Video Games should be a sport?
Cameron,Junkins
April/7/16
What if I told you that VideoGames is a sport? Do you agree? I strongly agree that Gaming should
be a sport. I believe so because it requires skill, strategy, and team effort. Esports players known as
"Gamers" train for hours including days, till they have their tournaments. ESports is rising higher
and higher each year, for an example "Last year's League of Legends tournament peaked at 11.2
million viewers, for example, whereas the NHL Finals only hit 8 million." That just astonishes me,
hockey has been around, more than these video games have, it's just amazing to see how far gaming
has reached. Their are so many points in why I think Videogames is a sport, like watching video
games, is just like watching sports, they have there moments, and there in a tournament for a prize.
"In july of 2014, an outstanding 11,000 people stuffed themselves into a basketball arena in seattle.
They were not there to see a basketball game, but to watch gamers compete for 11 million in prize
money." Like that just astonishes me about how many people watch just one game, compared to a
normal basketball game. It's not just how popular the game is, it's about the players, It's how ...

Someone could gaming is for fat, and lazy people that just sit on there butts all day. well I
completely disagree with that because not every gamer is "fat" not every gamer is "lazy" it's just
their enjoyment, and what they wanna do with their lives, and some of them work on a daily basis
and still play video games every day. I think eSports can take their competitive gaming even further,
with the new virtual games, that make it feel like you're right in the games world than your own.
And Gaming rises higher and higher each day, as in any other sport, but competitive gaming is right
next to football maybe even higher. Now, tell me what do you prefer gaming

Football Is A Popular Sport Essay
Football is a game that has a major impact on the fans, cities, and history of multiple teams and
organizations. Many can connect to the game on an emotional basis and that is why football is such
a popular sport today. There have been a lot of people that have contributed to this sport from the
beginning to today's time. They have helped create a basis for the game (rules, field length, field
goal size, etc.), decide how to crown a champion, and start organizations to help athletes. There have
also been multiple coaches that have played major roles in leading their team and progressing the
game to what it is today. While coaches play an important role, there are also individual games that
have shaped the way the game is played along with the rules. Each of these things have been key
and instrumental in progressing the game through time while building one of the most beloved and
popular sports of today's time, and Football is a game that will have a long future ahead of it. Before
talking about where football came from one must first look at what sport it evolved from. When the
sport first began it was similar to rugby, which had been around for quite some time at that point.
Football began to evolve through time to an extent that it is being played in public schools across the
country and also gaining a worthy following. Then came along Walter Camp, the football coach at
Yale from 1888–1892 and Stanford from 1892–1894. While Camp attended Yale he actually played

  • 3. Residential Schools : Residential School System Setup For... Residential schools. Residential school refers to a boarding school system setup for Aboriginal children that operated from the 1880s until the late twentieth century education. This system was put in place to "kill the Indian in the child" ( Loppie et al., 2013, p. 6; Miller, 2004, p. 35) While at these boarding schools, they were not permitted to speak their language or practice anything of their culture. These schools were run by religious men and woman. The children were only educated up to grade five level, and only to become work as general laborers in factories or in the home. The focus of their education was to have them, assimilate into 'Euro–Canadian' culture, were ultimately this was cultural genocide. Moreover, reports of emotional, physical, and sexual abuse are well documented from survivors of residential schools. Moreover, there were cases of medical experiments being conducted on children. Many children died at residential schools due to maltreatment (FNHA, n.d., para. 22; UBC, 2004, para. 1–3). After exploring and analyzing the literature and understanding the history which affects the issue at hand, it is possible to view this issue through historical, political, social, cultural and ethical lens to better understand the situation as it is today. • 5. English Class Reflection I can say with a high degree of confidence that AP Upper–Mid English has been unlike any other English course that I have taken during my academic career. Put plainly, the material and in–class instruction of the class is revelatory in every sense of the term, and, overall, the organization and matter of the course was exceptional. In terms of the organization of the course as a whole, I believe that the English Department was able to successfully distill all of the dominant aspects of learning that an English class epitomizes into the relatively short period of time that school is in session. In my experience, I have found the class to be organized and structured competently. The schedule, curriculum, and writing assignments were easy to understand and I felt as though I exited the classroom every class feeling as if I accomplished what I had to for that day and I had a definite grip on what to expect for the next class. That being said, I think it is also imperative for me to mention that the course was not overly constricting or overly–structured either –– the schedule had enough malleability to accommodate for impromptu activities. For instance, when Bob Levy, an acclaimed journalist for the Washington Post, visited Taft, our class used our period to have a invigorating conversation with him about the future of Internet Privacy, a conversation that I think was instructive and, in all likelihood, prepared me for the AP Exam just as much as the traditional class that we ... Brad Edwards, a writer for ESPN.com, has this to say about the computer system: "Though this may be the weakest part of the (BCS) equation, it can still make a difference. Last year, pollsters eventually overlooked Wisconsin's loss to Cincinnati, but the computers didn't. The result: the Badgers had an average computer ranking of 7.71 despite ranking fourth in both polls." 7.71 is the average of where the team is in the rankings among the top twenty–five teams in the nation according to the seven computers. The second part of the Bowl Championship Series formula is the two polls. One comes from the associated press and the other comes from coaches around the league. The Associated Press polls are organized by a number of different newspapers, magazines, and media. While the NCAA football coaches put together the Coaches poll. Why Should Video Games Be Considered A Sport Last year's League of Legends tournament racked up an acme of 11.2 billion viewers while the NHL (National Hockey League) Final only hit 8 million. These statistics show just how popular video games are and must be recognized as sport. Video games should recognized as sport, for they meet the requirements and compared to other sport they are similar in terms of requiring skill and having scholarships. The official definition of a sport is, "An activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes another or others for entertainment." Technically they are a sport. You have to physically move to play games that require it like Just Dance 1 to 4 or Kinect Sports. Another example is the Wii with the single hand–held remotes that require movement to interact with the console. Another issue people have with video games being classified as a sport is the mental health issue. They say people lose a sense of reality. Well this could all be avoid to to one simple task, adequate limits of video gaming. Video games are okay to play, but not overly excessively. You can take regular breaks like reading, walking, going outside for fresh air, etc. Finally in conclusion, video games should be recognized as sport since they meet the requirements of other sports, require the skills and also offers scholarship opportunities. The smell of the hotdogs, the luscious ivy that was in the outfield, and the organ being played. All of the things were the same, but this time everything was different. Everyone knew what was happening. This could be the first time in over 100 years that the Cubs could make the World Series. As the game was getting close to over, finishing the 8th going into the 9th inning, we were hoping that this year would be the year to finally have the shot. We hoped that our lousy luck in the playoffs doesn't affect us again. This time we could have it, we were almost there. All of these years where our dream has fell apart finally coming together to put us in the right place. All of us prayed there wouldn't have to be a Game 7 and that it could happen tonight. It could be the day that we finally clinch the National League. The final inning was finally starting off. The nerves were streaming all throughout the ballpark, from the stands, to the bleachers, to the field. Aroldis Chapman was taking the mound ready to be the beast he normally was. His throws were like lightning, fast and shocking. The first batter of the inning came up. The at bat was quick and the hitter was struck out swinging like a wrecking ball. The next hitter comes up. After seeing a lot of speedy pitches and a long at bat, he finally drew a walk. All of the Cubs fans ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. Should Sports Be Better Workers At Our Jobs? Each and every one of us is familiar with the concept of competition. Some of us have played sports as children, been involved in review games in class, or even have sat down with our family to play a simple board game. These types of activities may require different materials or levels of understanding, but they all revolve around competition. It can also be argued that competition is what drives us to success in life. We strive to become better workers at our jobs and better students in class ahead of all of those behind us. Sports are one of the most popular forms of competition that we can observe in today 's society. Football teams in the NFL practice multiple times a week for a wide variety of different things. There is a lot of physical training and working out involved on the field and in the gym, but there are also activities off the field that are given attention by players and coaching staff. Daily meetings to talk about the condition of the team and video studies are just some of the activities that players must stay on top of. Esport teams must follow a similar schedule, although physical exercise is taken care of on their own time. A lot of pro players that play League of Legends have reported practicing for 10–14 hours a day for 5–6 days per week. If they are not practicing strategy or new characters in the game, they will stream online for their viewers to enjoy. This schedule is even more strict than some actual jobs that are out there, only needing 8 hours a day in the office. Besides playing the game, Esport teams will get together and talk strategy, previous games, and ways that they can perform better as a team. Whether it be on the field or in a comfy desk chair, both types of competition require intense training and dedication to the game not all players can maintain in their daily lives Dedication from fans is also a factor that makes a sport more or less popular. • 18. Summary: The Pirtek Enduro Cup We had a fast weekend at Bathurst and now we turn our attention to the Gold Coast 600, the final race in the Pirtek Enduro Cup. With the Whincup penalty under appeal, the championship lead is in a state of flux, but it's still a two horse race between the #88 and #97. SVG won a race here last year and Whincup was on the podium for both races in 2014. With two events to go after the completion of the GC600, now is the time for this year's championship to step forward and assert their charge for the trophy. TRIPLE EIGHT RACE ENGINEERING: How quick was the #88 all weekend at Bathurst? Rolled out of the truck quick and seemed to be quick regardless of the session time or driver. The shootout lap was one of the great laps around the mountain and then he and Dumbrell had pace throughout the race. While they were heavier on fuel than those around them, the pace they showed was undeniable. Whincup doing 2.06's lap after lap during the race was incredible to witness, and showed how much confidence he had in the car. The result while under appeal, 1st or 11th, I won't continue on, but they had pace. Flicking towards the GC, Jamie and PD had a best finish of 7th over the two races. They will need to stay ahead of the #97 in the stops to avoid double stacking, but if they bring half the pace they had at Bathurst, they'll be hard to catch. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The #888 battled for pace most of the weekend and qualified down the back. A rare failure in the car cost them laps and while they continued to circulate, they were barely sighted thereafter. To salvage a result at the GC would be vital for Lowndes to hold onto 3rd in the championship. Looking forward to that race, I can't recommend this car over any of the other T8 entries. It's been a lean endurance season for the Vortex team, and while they could be on the podium, I can't see a win for this car unless they get near the pace of the other entries in the ... With huge events and tournaments that are watched by millions of passionate fans, many people are beginning to question whether playing video games can be considered a real sport. Even though e–sports may not be as physically demanding as traditional sports like football and basketball, the structure, strong fan base and the requirements to seriously contend in the competitive gaming scene legitimize it as a "real" sport. An Exploration Of The Pepcon Disaster And Its Aftermath An Exploration of the PEPCON Disaster And Its Aftermath What began as normal repair work at the Pacific Engineering and Production Company of Nevada (PEPCON) in May of 1988, resulted in devastation. PEPCON was one of two manufacturing facilities of Ammonium Perchlorate (AP), located in Clark County, NV, approximately 10 miles southeast of downtown Las Vegas (Lilley, 2012). AP is an oxidizer that when combined with aluminum makes the base for solid–state rocket fuel (Dunbar, 2006). Due to the recent Space Shuttle Challenger disaster, all space exploration by NASA was halted, and a stockpile of around 4,000 tons of AP built up and was stored onsite (Lilley, 2012). Also, within many buildings at the PEPCON facility, dust control was either minimal or nonexistent, while cleaning was only performed before safety inspections (Lambert & Alvares, 2003, p.7). This led to massive AP buildups on all flat surfaces which it is assumed exasperated the situation further once the fire started (Lambert & Alvares, 2003, p.7). The incredibly risky storage practices of this powerful oxidizer made PEPCON a disaster waiting to happen. The Facility And Its Safety Features The PEPCON facility was broken up into multiple buildings, the most important of which to this incident is the batch–drying building located in the southwest portion of the facility (map of PEPCON is attached as Appendix A) (Routley, n.d., p. 22). The batch dryer was used to blend and dry AP to prepare it for final packing, however, this facility was not suitable for this work due to its construction. The building was constructed of combustible fiberglass with steel supports (Routley, n.d., p.8). AP residue built up on the fiberglass and accelerated the fire out of control once it started (Routley, n.d., p.8). • 32. Should College Athletes Be Paid? College sports has become extremely popular over the past few years. With the March Madness tournament held in March and the new College Football Playoff held in January, the NCAA has achieved a great deal of attention and high television ratings. Although colleges make tons of money off of their athletes, college athletes receive plenty of compensation. Paying student athletes would cross the line between professionalism and amateurism and would violate the essence of being a student athlete. Student athletes should not be paid. A misconception is that all athletic programs in the NCAA make head–over–toe profit. There are three divisions of intercollegiate athletics, and frankly division three athletic programs don't make as much or have a profit when compared to division one programs. "Critics of paying college athletes note that only a small number of them compete in sports or on teams that actually generate revenue". (Paying College Athletes) The truth is only a fraction of athletic programs are actually profitable, while most pose a cost to the institution. The question arises primarily in division one programs and typically in the sports of basketball and football. The argument is made that these institutions receive millions of dollars from their student athletes' performance, in return they should be paid. Even though I do have less than my friends I make up for it with work ethic. I had to learn to work hard as a young kid trying to call doctors and make appointments, this is so because my parents didn't speak the language. Though some would say that it is a misfortune I beg to differ. Even though I had difficulties with some of the duties given to me, I grew up with independence. I was never a child who was afraid of asking questions, I often hear and see the anxiety some individuals have with simply asking for a ketchup packet at a fast food joint. Independence is an important attribute I believe I gained, because of something my parents lacked. Though I was never an awkward child I was an overly worrisome child. At a young age, I was involved in the financial aspect of my home. This meant that as a child I understood the value of money. However, this had its problems, it meant that at the age of 8 was worried if I spent that spare dollar on a packet of gum my parents would later find themselves in the need of a dollar. So, when I had the choice of taking college prep World History or Advanced Placement European History the following year, I chose to take AP because I felt like history should be something challenging that forces one to think and question information. I knew it would be rigorous, but if history doesn't make you think critically, it carries no meaning. However, the first semester didn't go well and I failed. Frustrated by this failure and feeling powerless, I dug in my heels the second semester and began to study more and yet still wasn't getting the answers right. Unsurprisingly, the standings often attract much criticism when a team is not placed as high as the fans feel it should be. Three of the most well–known ranking systems, based on algorithms as well as voting, include the Associated Press Poll, the Coaches Poll, and the College Football Playoff rankings. Often, there are discrepancies between each of these polls and fans are quick to make claims of bias when one poll ranks their team lower, or a rival team higher. However, in some cases, the bias claims are not necessarily false. Due to the nature of the polling system, a certain level of bias is simply unavoidable, and a more effective ranking system can only attempt to minimize this bias. One of the well–known polling systems is the Associated Press College Football Top 25 poll. The top 25 teams according to Associated Press are "determined by a simple points system based on how each voter ranks college football's best teams" (Associated Press). This points system is based roughly on the Borda Count, where the best No. 1 team is given 25 points and each following ranked team is given 1 less point and the total points are added across all the voters. • 52. Should Student Athletes Be Paid? It is mid–February and for college athletes and fans everywhere that means that the College Football "Bowl" season is over and "March Madness" is around the corner. The "Bowl" Season is a series of college football games from the elite teams, sponsored by various corporations and "March Madness" is a 68 team single elimination tournament to decide who the best team in college basketball is. For the students involved they get a chance to have their legacy live on forever and for some it is a chance to show professional teams they have what it takes to compete on the next level, but for the universities it is a chance to bring in millions of dollars in revenue. As a student–athlete, and a volunteer basketball coach, I believe that it is unfair that student athletes across the country have decided to give their lives to these sports in hopes that they get lucky and "win the lottery" by making in into professional sports. I believe that student athletes have earned the right to be compensated for their hard work, dedication and commitment to these universities across the country. In all sports they require some type of teamwork and coordination to make certain plays happen, but competitive gaming in a game such as League of Legends has a far different lifestyle than say, football. These two sports have many similarities like; their reliance on teamwork to win, the players training days, their type of internal structure, and the structure of their competitions and leagues; but also differ in multiple ways such as organizations and players have different opportunities to succeed or fail. The first was on December 29th in the Music City Bowl featuring Kentucky and Northwestern while the second happened on December 30th in the Orange Bowl between Miami and Wisconsin. Here is what happened, the response dictated by the rules, and how the officials involved should have reacted. Music City Bowl What Happened: Arguably Kentucky's best offensive player, running back Benny Snell, was handed the ball on a running play in the second quarter of the game. Snell was tackled for a loss by numerous Northwestern players who, while not breaking any rules themselves, were pretty rough slamming him to the ground. As Snell was getting up, an official stood over him and reached out both hands towards Snell's upper chest. Snell reached up and grasped the official by the wrists and pushed the official lightly away by shaking his head. A flag was thrown, a 15–yard penalty was enforced, and Snell was ejected from the game. What the Rules Say: According to the rules, the official made the right call. Snell did intentionally contact a game official, and there is also a strong argument that, by pushing the officials hands away, Snell contacted the official forcibly. • 80. Football Is A Popular Sport Essay Football is a game that has a major impact on the fans, cities, and history of multiple teams and organizations. Many can connect to the game on an emotional basis and that is why football is such a popular sport today. There have been a lot of people that have contributed to this sport from the beginning to today's time. They have helped create a basis for the game (rules, field length, field goal size, etc.), decide how to crown a champion, and start organizations to help athletes. There have also been multiple coaches that have played major roles in leading their team and progressing the game to what it is today. While coaches play an important role, there are also individual games that have shaped the way the game is played along with the rules. Each of these things have been key and instrumental in progressing the game through time while building one of the most beloved and popular sports of today's time, and Football is a game that will have a long future ahead of it. Before talking about where football came from one must first look at what sport it evolved from. When the sport first began it was similar to rugby, which had been around for quite some time at that point. Football began to evolve through time to an extent that it is being played in public schools across the country and also gaining a worthy following.
