Some of Kimberlee’sbest momentshave beenteachingpreschool childrenandhelpingthemsucceedin
the classroom.“Seeingthemgainself-confidence andgetexcitedaboutlearningletsme know thatwhat
I’mdoingis makinganimpact,”she says. Now she’susingherknowledge andskillstoalsomake an
impacton highschool students inSandy,Utah.
For the past fouryears,Kimberleehas worked atAltaHighSchool,where she runsa preschool and
teachestwolevelsof classes:EarlyChildhood1and2. Inthe more advancedclass, herstudentswork
towardgettingtheirChildDevelopmentAssociate (CDA®) credential, helpmanage the preschool,
mentorECE 1 studentsand fosterthe bestconditionsforlearning.
The studentsaren’tthe onlyoneswhoare learningnew skillsthatwillhelpthemworkwell with
preschool kids.Kimberlee’searningamaster’sdegree soshe can reach her goal of becominga college
professorof earlychildhoodeducation.“Iwanttobe able to share my passionforearlychildhood
educationwithmore peopleandata higherlevel,” she says.“Ibelieve Icanreach thisgoal by teaching
at the college level.”
She’sreachingforthe heightsinherteachingcareerbecause she’sstirred bythe changesshe’sseenin
boththe preschoolersshe’staughtandinher olderstudents. “Ihave watchedmanyhighschool
studentsinmyprogram start outvery quietandshy,thenblossomintoveryexcitedteachers.” Like
Kimberlee,they’veseenthatmakinganimpactona kid isone of the best momentsyoucan have.
