Dear Ms. Becker,
The email below is a testament to how much you do for your students, to how
seriously you take yourjob and is a testament to the type of person you
are. This parent took the time to ensure you know how muc~ you are
appreciated. Parents in this military community value what we do and
sometimes they may not say it, but they show it in many ways. This is one of
those ways ---through the Interactive Customer Evaluation (ICE).
You do make us look good, but more than that, you put students, first. You
make certain high student achievement and success occur because ofall you
do. You ROCK:)!!
Sincere thanks,
Angelia, Kerry and Daisy

I consider Ms. Meaghan Becker to be an exemplary teacher. My children
come from a high performing public school, a district that is ranked number
one in the state. Teachers long to get into this district and, as such, the
enthusiasm and commitment level ofthe individual teachers is exceedingly
high. I consider Ms. Becker of Sullivans to be of that same quality. She
is my son's kindergarten teacher. His transition was seamless. She's a
warm and inviting teacher, very approachable by both my son and me. She is
very effective at tracking his progress, assigning meaningful and
challenging homework, and reporting to parents exactly what is taking place
in her classroom and how we can support our individual children at home.
And, it does not end there. She goes to extra effort to make school fun.
That is so important, yet easy to lose sight of under the weight of
evaluations and standardized test scores. Part ofher success in making
school fun is her personality. Part ofit is her work ethic. And, then,
another part of it is that she simply makes it a priority. She seems to
keenly understand that when children enjoy being at school, they learn so
more and so much more quickly at that.
I fully mean this next statement. DoDDS should make it a priority to
recruit and retain teachers like Ms. Becker. IfDoDDS is not already, it
should actively recruit high performing teachers, including young teachers
right out ofschool, as well as experienced teachers with demonstrated
2. success. Probably the best source of information on recruiting and
retaining teachers like Ms. Becker, is to talk directly to teachers like Ms.
Becker. Such teachers hold many answers.
DoDDS provides a hugely important service to the military and plays a direct
roll in military retention. Teachers like Ms. Becker not only make DoDDS
look good, they make being in the military look good. I consider us blessed
that our son was placed in Ms. Becker's class. I have every confidence in
her.
