Dear Sir or Madam,
I am pleased to write this letter of recommendation for Megan Henze. I have been involved
professionally with SkyView Academy (SVA) PK-12 Charter School since 2009 as a school founder, Board
Member, and Interim Executive Director (2013-2015). Most importantly, I have also been a SVA parent
since the school opened, and both of my sons had the fortunate experience of being in Megan’s 4th
grade class.
Megan’s sophisticated grasp of the rigorous content in all subject areas delivered in a Core Knowledge
school has been an outstanding asset to her students. Megan has been part of the founding team of
teachers that have made the growth of our new school feel like an enjoyable ride with performance
outcomes that both students and parents can be proud of. Building a PK-12 charter school from scratch
is an entrepreneurial endeavor with incredibly demanding operational needs. Megan has a calm
personality and a steady professionalism which has served her colleagues well and all who have worked
closely with her. Her sincere affinity for her students is evident every day with her use of humor and
high expectations in the classroom. Her regular communication with parents is clear, meaningful and
we all have come to wish that every teacher in every grade communicated like Ms. Henze!
My two children are each very much their own individuals, with separate learning styles and needs, and
Megan has been able to adjust her teaching strategies accordingly. I am so appreciative of her efforts
aimed at supporting each of them to ensure they could be successful in her class, which will ultimately
be of value in every future grade level. As a parent who is also an educator, I must say how very
important a teacher’s effort to really know each student is to their families. Of course, the effect of this
commitment can be felt across the entire school culture, and Megan is a great asset to any staff that is
working to fulfill the overall mission and vision of a great school.
I have had the pleasure of knowing and working with Megan Henze for the last five years and I am
happy to advocate for her excellence as a classroom teacher. She will be dearly missed; however I wish
her all the best in her future career path. Please contact me if you have any further questions about
Megan.
Sincerely,
Lisa Jarvi Nolan
