they are advertising beauty
products because then the
audience wants to think they can
look like the person on the advert
by buying the product as it makes
them look nice.
They use celebrities in
adverts because it
makes people want to
buy the product more
because they look up to
the celebrity and want
to be like them.
Independence/Individuality
Intelligence
They use a deserted island as it very different
to people’s usual surroundings and it makes
them want to go there a lot more as it is sunny
and a paradise beach and the audience could be
at home with it raining outside which makes
this look more attractive as it’s so much nicer
than being at home.
They try to make you feel individual and
original because then you will stand out
from the crowd and feel special.
However you won’t be individual
because everyone else will buy a
product or go to an advertised place as
they want to be individual.
It makes the audience feel clever by
stating the obvious, because a car is
smart as it is warm, compact and
sheltered. It makes the audience feel
intelligent and good about themselves
because they understand the advert
even though it is straightforward.

They are advertising a new iPhone and
everyone will want it in their lives as it
says touching is believing which when
this advert was out touch screen phones
could have been the newest thing on
phones.
When they try to appeal to our caring side,
so when they are showing us a sad advert
this shows our mothering side and we feel
as though we need to help and care for the
elephant because we feel sorry for it and as
if our help is needed.
Rebel
Rhetorical Question
They Try and get the approval of your friends
and make sure everyone is attracted to the
advert to create a consensus about everyone
wanting to try the product , once everyone
approves of something it is a lot easier to do
or get it.
They try to Appeal to our rebellious
side and everyone wants to feel like
they are rebelling sometimes so by
saying that even if you’re stupid, you
can have the guts to do something
rebellious.
Scientific / Statistical Claim
Unfinished Comparison / Claim
By using a rhetorical question it makes the
audience think as it is directed towards them
and if it is about a child or animal it can make
them feel guilty and question themselves and
they may want to donate money to the charity
because it’s like the advert is talking directly to
them which is hard to ignore.
If there is a statistical fact or percentage or
a scientifically proven quote, we will trust
the product a lot more because it is
supported by real evidence and appears a
lot more trustworthy and professional. The
audience will feel that the product is very
safe and they will choose the product over
one which does not have scientific
evidence or a statistical claim.
They have used a claim but they have
no statistics to back it up, but it still
makes people believe their company
is better than everyone else is because
they have the confidence to state a
claim.

It makes the audience feel clever by stating the obvious, because a car is smart as it is warm, compact and sheltered. It makes the audience feel intelligent and good about themselves because they understand the advert even though it is straightforward.

When they try to appeal to our caring side, so when they are showing us a sad advert this shows our mothering side and we feel as though we need to help and care for the elephant because we feel sorry for it and as if our help is needed.
