How To Participate In Summer Reading as a Group
1. Getting started:
Families & Groups
Summer Reading 2015
It’s easy to create a Summer
Reading profile for a group.
All you need is a Library card!
2. Get a Library card Parents, childcare
centers, and
summer camps
can register their
entire group for
Summer Learning
with just one
account.
That person will
need a Library
card. It’s simple
to get one. Visit
your nearest
branch or apply
online.

4. Creating Your Profile Once you have
your card in hand,
you’re ready to
get started!
Visit the Summer
Learning website
and select “Be an
All-Star Reader.”
In the drop-down
menu select
“Track Your
Reading.”

6. Enter your library
card number. The
form will
automatically fill in
with the name,
phone number, etc.
associated with your
Library account.
When you’re done,
click the “Agree”
button.
7. Click the “Add
Another Participant
to Your Account”
button. Enter the
required
information.
Repeat this step for
every child you want
to add to your
account. The
software
automatically
assigns a unique ID
number to each
child. If the child
wants to track their
activity individually,
they can use this ID
number to log in.
9. Select an avatar and color scheme
It’s optional if you
want to set goals
But be sure to
select “Save Profile”
10. Select “Multiple
Participant Activity”
and you’re ready to
track the reading of
everyone in your
group.
You’ll need to decide
if you want to track
your reading by
number of books OR
number of hours,
and then be
consistent
throughout the
summer.
11. To track the
progress of an
individual child,
make a note of the
five-digit “Library
ID” number, log out,
then log back in
using the “Library
ID” number. You
can then track
reading, record
activity, and see
achievements
earned.

read to your child the activity
counts both towards his or
her Summer Reading and
