Schine Dining Document Analysis
These documents include scenes, resources, and important items in Schine Dining. I took the photos
of the space – both the seating and the food areas – in order to help my audience visualize what
Schine Dining looks like. This was especially important to my study because I examined where
people sit and why, so I figured that providing references to what I am talking about in terms of the
layout would be beneficial to my audience's understanding. The space is an interesting "document"
as it's actually architecture and interior design–based, the people who created it are not around for
me to ask questions, the space was just simply built and now exists for students and faculty to use
and interpret as they please. I think that the purpose of Schine Dining's layout was to provide plenty
of room for many students to come in and sit down, as well as breeze through the food purchasing
area with it's open floor plan there. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I typically went in the middle of the day, between noon and 2 pm, but clearly Schine Dining is open
as early as 7:30 am and as late as 7 pm, but that's just on weekdays, on weekends, the schedule is
slightly different because there is less demand for the space as there are no classes. The purpose of
the poster is to inform users when Schine Dining is opened and closed, and to provide an alternative
place to get food if Schine Dining is not open. There's a bit of localized language on this sign
because it indicates that Kimmel Food Court is on the corner of Waverly and Comstock. Someone
who is not affiliated with the university may not understand that that means Waverly Avenue and
Comstock Avenue, only a block away from Schine Student Center. This reflects the culture of
Syracuse University, where we indicate where things are by the street, but not the full

Descriptive Essay On A Day At The Restaurant
As I become more occupied cleaning glasses, I have less time to talk to customers and coworkers. I
continue to listen to and chime in on the conversations people share at the bar. There is the constant
background noise of the dishwasher going, people talking in other dining rooms, and background
music. The dishwasher lets out a muffled humming noise that only I really can hear while it's
functioning. Even when it seems to obnoxiously rage with sound, no one at the bar ever notices. The
television above my head constantly screens some sort of sporting event. There's no sound coming
from this, so people can hear the Motown music played throughout the restaurant. On the back of
my pants I have a buzzer attached that lets me know when people at the bar's food or to–go orders
are up. When the kitchen signals my buzzer, I quickly head into the server station and pick up a
black, non skid server tray. I go down to the kitchen, which exudes smells of numerous different
types of cuisines, and pick up the food ready to be served. I set a large chicken Florentine pizza on a
pizza stand for a couple, a pizza composed of chicken breast, tomato, red onion, and spinach on
mozzarella. As I hand the two customers fresh cracked black pepper to sprinkle, I hear a glass crash
against the wooden floor in the 200s dining room, the largest section in the middle of the upstairs. A
champagne flute slid off one of the busboy's tray and broken into what seems like a billion different
pieces across the

Shippoku Dining
During the Tokugawa period, Japan was mainly a closed off country as it wanted little to do with
being influenced by the outside world, and particularly, by the West. Japan was willing to dabble
with outside influences on what was becoming a national cuisine, but refused to give up it's national
identity. Introducing foreign aspects to Japanese cuisine was acceptable as long as Japan maintained
power and control over how these aspects would manifest. In Tokugawa period Nagasaki was a
regional site that attracted many Chinese settlers. Influenced by these Chinese settlers, an eating
trend called shippoku became popular. Shippoku dining was based on the imitation of Chinese
cultural dining, but at the same time, the Chinese–like trend was reinvented ... Show more content

Shippoku dining included not only imitation of Chinese–style dishes, but also the imitation of
Chinese dining culture. Dishes were communal, which was not common for Japanese cuisine of the
time, and forced shippoku dining to be quite a social experience. Dishes and utensils used for
shippoku were supposed to "look Chinese" and have "Chinese decorations," but the main distinction
between the dishes and utensils used for shippoku from everyday dishes and utensils were what
shippoku diners called them, which shows just how hard they were trying to imitate Chinese dining
culture–an ordinary bowl could turn into a shippoku bowl if you called it the right thing; everything
about shippoku dining was supposed to sound Chinese in both names and pronunciation. This
imitation, however, was explicitly an imitation, which is evident from how hard they tried to look
Chinese. There was less emphasis on authenticity and modestly taking inspiration from Chinese
culture, rather they were blatantly imitating the culture as something that was "other." This attitude
shows that

Olympia Dining
I went to visit Olympia Dining,a Greek restaurant, with my brother on Thursday , November 12. We
didn't know how the Greek food was, or what could we order since It was our first time in a Greek
restaurant. This restaurant is located in Davis Blvd. When we arrived, we park in the closest spot of
the restaurant then we walked in. The restaurant was beautiful more beautiful inside than the
outside; The walls were painted with ruins and incomplete columns, and in the top corner it had a
building with an Ionic technique, it was easy to recognize for the shape of the columns. the place

dish made of spinach and grapes leaves, i didn't like this dish, it have a bitter taste, at the end we got
falafels appetizer, that was crispy vegetables and Keftedes that were meat balls. All the food was
great, it was fresh and the place was clean, I really enjoy eating in this place, besides we had like
private service since no one was there, we had a lot of food and the price was cheap. I would
recommend this place to my family and my friends. i would like try more food even though I was

Research Paper On Kitchen Hutch
Title: Kitchen Hutch– The Ultimate Space Saver for the Dining Room or the Kitchen
Description– The kitchen hutch is one of the best pieces of furniture for people who want to
showcase the expensive dinnerware and kitchen utensils that they possess.
Kitchen entertainment and gatherings have become the latest trend in the use of homes and to do so
a good amount of kitchen space is needed. Nowadays the top priorities for homeowners include
organizational structure, freedom and the convenience of moving about in the kitchen. The present
day society is a streamlining society where people have this desire of creating wonderful dinner
services and enjoying the company of the guests. This is the main reasons why the kitchen designs
of the modern times are found incorporating modern innovations for accommodating the dual
purpose of entertaining and cooking: the need for space and organization. The kitchen hutch is one
of the greatest solutions to the problem of organization and space in the kitchen. ... Show more

This is due to the fact that they are available in a variety of styles and colors along with artistic
designs making them perfect for the kitchens of the modern times. Style coordination is not a big
deal with the modern kitchen hutches available in the market. You can easily get hold of a kitchen
hutch that will serve as a very beautiful addition to the kitchen or the dining room décor. However,
there is only one drawback of using the hutch and that is the fact that the conventional designs of
hutches are no more available. Kitchen hutches not only add practicality to a dining space or a
kitchen but they also add a kind of decorative touch to these spaces. They possess this ability of
catching the eyes of the onlookers because of the fact that they are made of attractive materials

Descriptive Essay On The Night Of A Cat
In the inky abyssal darkness of the pre–dawn horizon, the eerie silence of the still sleeping world
was distributed only by the soft sound of a knife digging into wood that emitted from a pitch black
wood and brick home, which sat upon a towering hill that overlooked a sprawling town that lay still
as it slumbered.
From within a dimly lit room that shone like a brilliant beacon in the darkened night, my tanned and
taut hands gripped a simple yet exquisite knife. Wavy steel connected to a dark oak wood, fresh
enough to smell the forest it came from, that was engraved with flowing designs of grace. Graceful
against the flickering flames of a dying candle, the blade moved without flourish or excessive
movement as it bit into the wood, slowly whittling away strips of material as the shape of an elegant
young girl in a summer dress took form. My steady hands gripped the handle, letting the blade
dance across the timber as the figurine exposed its beauty and sprung to life.
Sweat dripped from my brow and into my eyes, aiming to distract my intense focus. Still, the blade
moved without pause as it etched life to the marvelous figure of a dazzling young girl. Her hair
flowed with a life that betrayed its wooden origin, and its eyes held a strange gaze of life which
combined with its petite lips, gave off the feeling of a mischievous cat.
Finally, only until the absolute blackness of the night was overcome by the brilliant red and orange
hues that bled like a fire over the eastern hills did my hands pause as blinding light seeped in
through the paned windows of father's and mine workshop.
With a tired sigh of accomplishment, my figure cloaked in the shadows rose as I stretched my
mammoth frame that dominated the cramped room strewn with tools and timber. Muscles, bunched
from hours of sitting in one position, groaned as I stretched and flexed them. Still, my eyes remained
fixated on the figurine with a gentle fondness, as I searched for any corrections with the same care
and respect an undertaker would have for a recently departed. However, before I could scrutinize my
work further, a piercing call coated in sweetness carried through the house in a muffled echo.

1. What would you recommend to the board of NCRCC with respect to adding or changing
programming activities like social activities for adults, families with children, and children?
Based on the initial investigation, and after the discarding of error sources, I would recommend to
the board to incorporate more social activities for the adults (Cooper & Schindler, 2014, p. 256).
This is due to the seasoned members' complaints on the lack thereof. After a poll was taken and the
external validity was verified through scientific measurement, social activities seemed to be one of
the biggest concerns for the tenured members. An index was created to further measure customer

Descriptive Essay About My Kitchen
Laughter, sizzling, the clinking of wine glasses and the crunching of chips float down the hallway.
The smell of good food made with cumin and love. The kitchen is a place of joy and family, a place
of sharing our days and silently scarfing Mom's chicken tacos. Many of the greatest moments in my
life have been in my kitchen: cooking pork ribs with my dad and listening to his ridiculous old rock
music, opening my first college acceptance letter, learning we were moving to Munich. Many of the
worst times have been in the kitchen, too.
"Uncle Dan died in Thailand."
"Bampa's dementia has gotten so much worse."
The beauty of the kitchen is, the bad is overshadowed by the good. The warmth of bread in the oven
and the smell of sizzling chicken and caramelized onions on the stovetop are soothing, familiar,
calming. It's a place of happy memories and reminders of difficult times, a place of recovery and
love and growth.
Putting away dishes is one of my favorite jobs because it gives me an opportunity to reflect on the
personality of each dish. The ceramic blue and brown cups with the triangular designs and a certain
heaviness to them are from Botswana. They live in the cabinet above the coffee maker with the
matte black and orange cups that my dad brings home from work, and the white glass mugs that my
mom uses that we bought at Walmart because "they're just going to get broken anyways!" The big
ceramic teal bowl in the red cabinet was made in Nevada at Planet X, a hippie shop in

The Food And The Dining Program
"Food, in the end, in our own tradition, is something holy. It 's not about nutrients and calories. It 's
about sharing. It 's about honesty. It 's about identity (Louise Fresco)." Most humans, including
myself, enjoy eating good food. When food is less than satisfactory and people have to eat that same
food on a regular basis, they tend to get sick of it. That is the problem I am currently facing in my
second semester at MNU. The food was decent for a while, but the dining program lacks variety and
quality. Though the dining program is below average now, I believe that it can be greatly improved
by adding new items to the menu, serving the fan favorites more often, and increasing the quality of
the food.
By far, food is one of the most important things in this world. Most living things cannot survive
without it. Not only is it necessary for life, but it something that is universally loved by everyone
and everything. Some animals kill for food and some humans are even willing to fight and kill for it.
All that being said, it's clear that food is important to people and it should be treated accordingly. At
the moment, the dining program at MNU is not getting the job done, and it could definitely use
some changes.
One change that the dining hall could benefit from is adding new items to the menu. Currently,
MNU serves the same things for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Breakfast consists of either pancakes
or french toast, hash browns or potato wedges, and eggs. Then lunch comes

Schilletter Dining Hall
The next day on Sunday, February 28 I went to Schilletter Dining Hall at around 3:33 PM.
Schilletter was smaller than Harcombe and had a different layout. Schilleter is set in a shape similar
to a circle which has the different food stations all around. At first I thought that this place would
have more groups of people since it is smaller but it turned out to be the opposite. In schilletter I
noticed a larger amount of people isolated from each other. There were more places for people who
eat alone to sit because of the layout of the dining hall. It is interesting how the shape and the
arrangement of a dining hall can modify how people sit and socialize. Because of the tables being all

In such a short period of time people now seem more absorbed by these objects which are meant for
communication but at the same time separate people from each other and shape the way people
communicate. It is almost as if everyone was from a different country and did not know how to
communicate with each other. My main focus on this project was the dining halls but since I
currently live on a ten story building here on campus I could also notice this same behavior of using
phones in the elevators. People usually walking in listening to music or with their phone, and the
eye contact is kept to the minimum. Nobody says anything but a very few amount of people who say
a greeting when they walk in. So with the observations on the elevator I saw that this behavior was
not only displayed in dining halls, but basically everywhere and because everyone has these items I
could notice it even while I was walking to my classes. Some people did not even pay attention to
where they were walking because of being focused on a phone. In the most extreme cases I saw
people on hover boards while using their phone which is life–threatening for the user and people

To add alternative healthy food options at Carlson Dining Court, the solution should not increase the
cost of operating the organic food stores, and it cannot take up the space of tables, study rooms and

The new organic food stores will not occupy the original space.
The new organic food stores will not increase the plenty of cost of operating the organic food stores.
The organic food products will have fair prices, and it will attract more students spend money on the

the store should put an emphasis on health and cozy topic. For instance, green or orange paint on the

Physicists who study the electrical properties of matter at the microscopic level use a closely related

3. Why haven't other food service providers copied Calveta's approach?
Antonio Calveta's approach is the base for his organization. He worked hard to maintain the mission
of the company. As a result of this, it would be difficult to duplicate his approach. The goal of the
majority of companies is to make a high profit and that's all that they would work towards.
However, Calveta's promise to deliver fresh products and provide great service creates a good profit
margin without it being their focus. Calveta's approach is costly to them but it works and produces a
profit. Most other companies would not utilize such methods for fear of losing their profits.
4. Given Calveta's communication and internal organizational challenges, how important will
training and development be to maintaining growth and culture?
Training and professional development are key to the maintenance of any company's growth and
culture. Leaders of any strong company should realize that improving skill set, increasing
knowledge, and employees' job satisfaction are important to the positive growth of the company.

Basic Needs As any college student knows, the quality of a school's dining hall is extremely
important. To be successful as students, it is an absolute must that a student is strong and healthy.
One of the keys to being strong and healthy is a healthy and balanced diet, filled with a variety of
foods. At Drexel, we are being deprived of this necessity. While we do have a dining hall that is
open for most of our day, actually eating there is an issue. For all freshmen at Drexel, a dining plan
is required. There are three different traditional meal plans, ranging from a hefty $1,830 to $1,915.

In further research, it became apparent that Sodexo is the root of our problems at Drexel. The same
types of problems that we had at Drexel were faced by students at Fordham University, who also
contracts Sodexo. An excerpt of the inspection read: "The inspections unearthed evidence of mice,
roaches and improper storage of food, shortcomings that placed Fordham eateries in the lowest
grade bracket" (Ram Online). This is concerning not only for Fordham students but for any school
that allows Sodexo to control its dining environment. The case at Fordham got so out of hand that
the dining hall was required to be shut down for a little while. Once it was finally opened back up,
the students decided to hold a protest. However, this protest got them absolutely nowhere. At
Drexel, there has to be a solution that we can execute to get a decent selection of food in our dining
hall. At Fordham University, the method of a protest failed, as Sodexo still stayed as the school's
main food supplier. Sodexo claims on its website that it has a board of students that overview it's
dining services. This board of students does not have a representative from Drexel University on it.
If we had some input about our dining hall through this board, maybe there would be some action
taken. Another solution we could execute is introducing a board of various students that oversees
and works with the kitchen staff to make sure the meals are both well prepared and well varied.

Reflection On Dining Experience
Food is the key component of life and the way you consume it tells a lot about your culture,
ethnicity and taste background. Communities in India eat with their hands, Europe usually uses full
on table setting while in Japan chopsticks are the main utensils. It is extremely unusual for someone
to imagine how would it look like to eat a meal without the vision component being present while
doing this everyday routine. Many people believe that the sense of sight plays an immense role in
the dining experience but that is not completely true, on the contrary touch is the crucial element
that guides you through the dining experience. So, after the given information above would you dare
to dine in the dark where your eyesight is completely gone during this ninety–minute journey?

Is Dining A Good Chance?
In college, does dining with only members of one's ethnicity and participating in ethic
organizations/activities decline ethnic relations on campus? On one hand, only dining with one's
ethic group segregates the campus by race. Also, participating in ethnic organizations and activities
could make people of different ethnicities feel segregated or left out. On the other hand dining by
ethnic background could just be people hanging out with whom they enjoy to be around or relate to.
Further more, participating in ethnic activities and organizations could spread awareness of different
cultures and give other ethnicities the chance to interact and learn about each other. In college
people tend t sit with their friends when eating. Depending on where people are from, they may only
be used to interacting with one ethnicity. This means when they arrive at college they are more
likely to be drawn to people of that ethnicity. So in the dinning hall at any university there is a good
chance there is some segregation of ethnicity. This means there is less interaction and relations
going on between different ethnicities. As college get further into the school years, it will become
less likely that students will break these patterns. This is because bonds and friendships have been
made. Adding to this is ethnic organizations and activities at the school. While all of these
organizations are open to people of any ethnicity, many people of the other ethnicities feel

Del Frisco's does an exceptional job for their quality of delectable food. For it is a steakhouse, the
menu mainly consists of different types of steaks. There are six main choices of steak, which include
Filet Mignon, Prime Rib eye, Prime Strip, Prime Porterhouse, and Wagyu Long Bone. The different
cuts of meat vary with the option of eight to thirty–two ounce portions. The steaks are cooked to
near perfection, exactly as you order them. The server informs you on how the steak will be cooked,
with how red or pink it will come out. There is an array of side dishes to select from to pair along
your perfectly cooked steak, such as the guest favorite of the Jalapeno–Bacon Mac and Cheese.
Before your main course, the appetizer choices are affable. The most popular appetizer that people
rave about is the Crab Cake served with Cajun lobster sauce, as it comes out looking almost too
wonderful to eat. There dessert options after the main course are endless. The undeniable options
include crème Brule, and original or butterscotch cheesecake with strawberries. Every single bite is

Personal Narrative On The Dining Bedroom
Thankful for Poison
"Hey Chelsea! Can you grab us some chocolates from the dining room table?" my older cousin
Ashley yelled out to me. It was the Thanksgiving of two thousand seven, and I was only six years
old. We had a family gathering, which we occasionally have. Every two weeks or so, my cousins,
aunts, uncles, and my own family would come together and celebrate the holidays. Especially
Christmas, which was only a couple months away. Although we ate a lot at these family gatherings,
we ate the most on Thanksgiving. Immediately, I stopped fantasizing about food, and rushed to the
dining room table. I thought that it was okay for anyone to boss me around, like it was cool to do
someone's chores when they have their own pair of arms and legs. ... Show more content on

I've never really observed what I consume, along with never asking anyone if a certain piece of what
I think is food, is actually edible. Nevertheless, these chocolates looked fairly normal to me. It was
also placed beside the turkey, so I just assumed it was safe and edible. However, if it was dangerous,
then why would it be on that table? In this case, I had tossed almost three of those regular looking
chocolates into my small six year old mouth, snatched three in each hand, and began to shove
several chocolates into my purple dress' pockets. The adults turned their heads at me, looking really
bewildered. They hadn't realized what was really happening until they saw the gooey chocolates
quickly melting into my warm hands. "No! Chelsea! Those have wine in it!" my mom screamed at
me, louder than my brother did when I dropped glass into his hand. I did not know what wine was,
since I was exceedingly young. I quickly threw the chocolates back into the bowl and spat out the
ones that were in my mouth. I had already bit into the chocolate, revealing the liquid like substance.
All I saw was red liquid mixed with some of my saliva drooling out of my mouth onto the carpet
floor. As we all know, wine and carpet is one of the most terrifying

Amanda's paper laid a sufficient foundation of the site she was exploring, Risley Dining Hall located
on North Campus. She commented on the traffic flow of the area, showing that is quite a busy area

Descriptive Dining At Home
You finally meet a significant other and you want to impress them with an appetizing home cooked
meal. Unfortunately, your idea of fine dining at home is Raman Noodles served in a bowl and not in
the foam cup. Raman Noodles, even served in a bowl, will not impress any date. Now picture
yourself sharing a warm, freshly crafted pizza. A pizza with fried chicken smothered with provolone
cheese. A pizza with a pop of flavor provided by bell peppers. A pizza seamlessly put together with
ranch dressing. This simple recipe for chicken ranch pizza will make you resistible to any date. To
complete the following recipe, you will need one boneless chicken breast (an ideal size for the
chicken breast is the size of your hand), soy sauce, lemon juice, a bell pepper, shredded provolone
cheese, salt, Cayenne pepper, flour, olive oil, one large egg, and one frozen cheese pizza (preferably
Di Giorno rising crust). First you need to prep the chicken breast. If your chicken breast is frozen,
let your chicken breast thaw. To speed up the thawing process, you may use a microwave. However,
set the microwave to defrost mode before thawing your chicken, which will prevent the chicken
from drying out and will keep the chicken moist. Thaw the chicken, on defrost mode, for
approximately five to six minutes. After thawing the chicken, take a sharp knife and make a
horizontal cut across the middle of the breast. Always act carefully when working knives.
Remember to keep the blade down and always cut away from yourself. Cut the chicken into long
strips with roughly one–quarter inch of thickness. Reducing the thickness of the breast will reduce
the amount of time needed to cook the chicken fully. Now make a vertical cut every half inch to
both strips of chicken. The chicken pieces should resemble the size and shape of your middle and
ring finger combined. After cutting the chicken, wash hands thoroughly with warm water and soap.
Always wash your hands after touching raw meat to prevent cross commination. Do not touch any
other ingredient before washing your hands.
Next you need to assemble the marinade for the chicken. Start with a deep dish baking pan and add
one and half cups of soy sauce or until the bottom of the pan is

Personal Narrative-Dining
Dining room table? Yep. Drapes? Yep. Relatively new wall–to–wall brown carpet? Yep.
Lampshades? Yep. White walls? Yep. Piano? Oh, yeah.
There didn't seem to be a thing in my living room/dining room that didn't have the pastel green paint
splattered across it. I knew I was in grave danger when my father found out I'd touched the paint
cans, like he told me not to do at least a zillion times. So I ran.
In order to understand the depths of this criminal offense, you must first realize how I was put into
the situation. Back when I was in elementary school, probably first grade with Mrs. Black, I had a
newly developing friendship with a girl up the street, Lori. Lori and I spent all of our free time

In my mind I resembled a prima ballerina, using my mother's piano to spot my turns, preventing
dizziness and maintaining control. Several minutes of the high–flying fun came to an end and I
tamped down the growing guilt of disobeying my father by noting I had not left the newspaper he
had set under the cans to collect any spills. I couldn't be doing anything too terrible, right? I was
filled with the same exhilaration you might feel after riding the roller coaster at the amusement park.
I was dizzy and smiling and smug; I had touched the paint cans, had some fun, and no one was
worse for the wear.
The realization of what was to become a major mishap didn't take long to soak into my pea brain.
One glance anywhere in the room showed the evidence of my crime. Paint dribbles were
everywhere. There wasn't a surface that didn't contain some splatters; nothing was spared.
It was at this point I knew my life was nearing an end. My lumberjack–like father would come out
of the room, see what I had done, pick me up with one hand (leveling me parallel with the floor),
and with one spank, knock the life out of me. I couldn't take the risk of being discovered, so, as I

Informative Essay On Outdoor Dining
Focus keyword: outdoor dining Meta description: Title: Blog post: (photo?) The dining table has
become an iconic gathering place for decades. It's where people come to be together, share in a meal
and connect over conversation. "Dinner time" is a special time to bond, to relax, to build memories,

like to take that tradition outside. There are so many options for dining al fresco, and so many
opportunities to enjoy it. Dining tables symbolize community, unity, celebration and so much more.
Taking all those symbols to the outdoors only maximizes the effect. Add the sun, the breeze, and all

addition to this, waiting one's turn in line was also in effect. No observed students did not wait their

Ravenhill Dining Hall
Methodology
Research for the revisions to Ravenhill Dining Hall began with secondary research into alternative
models and dining services trends. This research gave us a foundation to build upon in the
Philadelphia University community. Looking at professional journals such as Food Management, we
found specific trends in the dining services as well as the driving forces behind them. These trends
included students wanting flexibility, hub–like dining, and take–out or delivery (Watkins). The
average Philadelphia University student is part of Generation Y, which means their relationship with
food is different than previous generations. They grew up with food network's celebrity chefs, are
well traveled for their age, and "engage and connect with their food," (UCI). These findings
informed the models that we chose to go forward with; as we wanted to make sure that they fit these
trends. Professional journals also referred us to other schools that were recognized for providing
new and exciting dining services models. Such schools included Slippery Rock University, which
had recently overhauled their main dining hall Boozel into a state–of–the–art facility (Food
Managment). Virginia Tech actually pioneered Market Style dining in their West End Market, and

In the book The Awakening by Kate Chopin there were some dining scenes. Each dining scene held
meaning to what was currently happening in the story. One of the first dining scenes in the book was

America 's Culinary Heritage Of American Cuisine Essay
With a mission of celebrating, preserving, and nurturing America's culinary heritage, for one of just
a handful of times, the James Beard Foundation opened the kitchen and dining rooms of the Beard
House in New York City to the Mississippi Delta. Maybe not the first, but definitely the first of its
kind, an all–star cast of Delta chefs and beverage masters presented our story, their passion and their
perfectly prepared menu to a packed house of predominantly New York locals.
"The Beard House is considered a performance space for chefs, distillers, wine makers, brewers and

The Dining Hall
Just a few feet behind her, Gigliola and Josephine sat alone at a table for four facing the dining hall,
having an ample view of all the other tables and the attending guests. Martha glanced at them and

Gigliola's complexion had a greyish hue, a mixture of physical illness and the anger eroding her
insides. Partaking of this family gathering brought upon some members of the family, like her, a

Lina three and a half. This memorable day kept them not only busy, but, also aware of their family

Advantages Of A Small Dining Room
Of all the dining room tips available, the following ideas for a small dining room are probably the
most useful to most people. Few people have large separate dining rooms, such facilities either
comprising part of the kitchen or the living room, or are small rooms with limited floor area.
1. Use Light Colors
Light colors tend to open out a room while dark shades tend to make it look smaller. However, light
need not mean drab, and whites and pastels can be accented with a bright contrasting color. This is
particularly effective when color is use to draw attention to specific decorative elements.
Don't overuse color, though. You can have one colorful wall with others in white or a neutral shade,
or use brightly–colored dining chairs with light ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
5. Small Dining Room Acoustics
One of the more useful dining room tips that you do not often find is to deaden the acoustics in the
room. A small room with plain walls and woodblock flooring will reflect sound waves, so that
conversation will appear to boom and reverberate, particularly as the evening goes on and the wine
starts to take effect!
While a highly polished or even rustic wood table looks nice, it is more practical to use a tablecloth.
This not only protects the table from scratches and dropped food, but also absorbs sound waves.
Fabric wall–coverings also look good while wallpaper is better that paint or paneling. Each of these
helps to deaden sound so that you can hear what people are saying without the booming and
reflection of their voices.

Schine Dining Document Analysis

  • 1. Schine Dining Document Analysis These documents include scenes, resources, and important items in Schine Dining. I took the photos of the space – both the seating and the food areas – in order to help my audience visualize what Schine Dining looks like. This was especially important to my study because I examined where people sit and why, so I figured that providing references to what I am talking about in terms of the layout would be beneficial to my audience's understanding. The space is an interesting "document" as it's actually architecture and interior design–based, the people who created it are not around for me to ask questions, the space was just simply built and now exists for students and faculty to use and interpret as they please. I think that the purpose of Schine Dining's layout was to provide plenty of room for many students to come in and sit down, as well as breeze through the food purchasing area with it's open floor plan there. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I typically went in the middle of the day, between noon and 2 pm, but clearly Schine Dining is open as early as 7:30 am and as late as 7 pm, but that's just on weekdays, on weekends, the schedule is slightly different because there is less demand for the space as there are no classes. The purpose of the poster is to inform users when Schine Dining is opened and closed, and to provide an alternative place to get food if Schine Dining is not open. There's a bit of localized language on this sign because it indicates that Kimmel Food Court is on the corner of Waverly and Comstock. Someone who is not affiliated with the university may not understand that that means Waverly Avenue and Comstock Avenue, only a block away from Schine Student Center. This reflects the culture of Syracuse University, where we indicate where things are by the street, but not the full ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Descriptive Essay On A Day At The Restaurant As I become more occupied cleaning glasses, I have less time to talk to customers and coworkers. I continue to listen to and chime in on the conversations people share at the bar. There is the constant background noise of the dishwasher going, people talking in other dining rooms, and background music. The dishwasher lets out a muffled humming noise that only I really can hear while it's functioning. Even when it seems to obnoxiously rage with sound, no one at the bar ever notices. The television above my head constantly screens some sort of sporting event. There's no sound coming from this, so people can hear the Motown music played throughout the restaurant. On the back of my pants I have a buzzer attached that lets me know when people at the bar's food or to–go orders are up. When the kitchen signals my buzzer, I quickly head into the server station and pick up a black, non skid server tray. I go down to the kitchen, which exudes smells of numerous different types of cuisines, and pick up the food ready to be served. I set a large chicken Florentine pizza on a pizza stand for a couple, a pizza composed of chicken breast, tomato, red onion, and spinach on mozzarella. As I hand the two customers fresh cracked black pepper to sprinkle, I hear a glass crash against the wooden floor in the 200s dining room, the largest section in the middle of the upstairs. A champagne flute slid off one of the busboy's tray and broken into what seems like a billion different pieces across the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Shippoku Dining During the Tokugawa period, Japan was mainly a closed off country as it wanted little to do with being influenced by the outside world, and particularly, by the West. Japan was willing to dabble with outside influences on what was becoming a national cuisine, but refused to give up it's national identity. Introducing foreign aspects to Japanese cuisine was acceptable as long as Japan maintained power and control over how these aspects would manifest. In Tokugawa period Nagasaki was a regional site that attracted many Chinese settlers. Influenced by these Chinese settlers, an eating trend called shippoku became popular. Shippoku dining was based on the imitation of Chinese cultural dining, but at the same time, the Chinese–like trend was reinvented ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Shippoku dining included not only imitation of Chinese–style dishes, but also the imitation of Chinese dining culture. Dishes were communal, which was not common for Japanese cuisine of the time, and forced shippoku dining to be quite a social experience. Dishes and utensils used for shippoku were supposed to "look Chinese" and have "Chinese decorations," but the main distinction between the dishes and utensils used for shippoku from everyday dishes and utensils were what shippoku diners called them, which shows just how hard they were trying to imitate Chinese dining culture–an ordinary bowl could turn into a shippoku bowl if you called it the right thing; everything about shippoku dining was supposed to sound Chinese in both names and pronunciation. This imitation, however, was explicitly an imitation, which is evident from how hard they tried to look Chinese. There was less emphasis on authenticity and modestly taking inspiration from Chinese culture, rather they were blatantly imitating the culture as something that was "other." This attitude shows that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Olympia Dining I went to visit Olympia Dining,a Greek restaurant, with my brother on Thursday , November 12. We didn't know how the Greek food was, or what could we order since It was our first time in a Greek restaurant. This restaurant is located in Davis Blvd. When we arrived, we park in the closest spot of the restaurant then we walked in. The restaurant was beautiful more beautiful inside than the outside; The walls were painted with ruins and incomplete columns, and in the top corner it had a building with an Ionic technique, it was easy to recognize for the shape of the columns. the place were divided in two parts, the big room was the restaurant and the other side was the small bar that i didnt detailed to much but it had neon lights in the middle ... All the food was great, it was fresh and the place was clean, I really enjoy eating in this place, besides we had like private service since no one was there, we had a lot of food and the price was cheap. • 9. Research Paper On Kitchen Hutch Title: Kitchen Hutch– The Ultimate Space Saver for the Dining Room or the Kitchen Description– The kitchen hutch is one of the best pieces of furniture for people who want to showcase the expensive dinnerware and kitchen utensils that they possess. Kitchen entertainment and gatherings have become the latest trend in the use of homes and to do so a good amount of kitchen space is needed. Nowadays the top priorities for homeowners include organizational structure, freedom and the convenience of moving about in the kitchen. The present day society is a streamlining society where people have this desire of creating wonderful dinner services and enjoying the company of the guests. This is the main reasons why the kitchen designs of the modern times are found incorporating modern innovations for accommodating the dual purpose of entertaining and cooking: the need for space and organization. Style coordination is not a big deal with the modern kitchen hutches available in the market. You can easily get hold of a kitchen hutch that will serve as a very beautiful addition to the kitchen or the dining room décor. However, there is only one drawback of using the hutch and that is the fact that the conventional designs of hutches are no more available. Kitchen hutches not only add practicality to a dining space or a kitchen but they also add a kind of decorative touch to these spaces. They possess this ability of catching the eyes of the onlookers because of the fact that they are made of attractive materials along with decorative accents and appealing ... • 11. Descriptive Essay On The Night Of A Cat In the inky abyssal darkness of the pre–dawn horizon, the eerie silence of the still sleeping world was distributed only by the soft sound of a knife digging into wood that emitted from a pitch black wood and brick home, which sat upon a towering hill that overlooked a sprawling town that lay still as it slumbered. From within a dimly lit room that shone like a brilliant beacon in the darkened night, my tanned and taut hands gripped a simple yet exquisite knife. Wavy steel connected to a dark oak wood, fresh enough to smell the forest it came from, that was engraved with flowing designs of grace. Graceful against the flickering flames of a dying candle, the blade moved without flourish or excessive movement as it bit into the wood, slowly whittling away strips of material as the shape of an elegant young girl in a summer dress took form. My steady hands gripped the handle, letting the blade dance across the timber as the figurine exposed its beauty and sprung to life. Sweat dripped from my brow and into my eyes, aiming to distract my intense focus. Still, the blade moved without pause as it etched life to the marvelous figure of a dazzling young girl. Her hair flowed with a life that betrayed its wooden origin, and its eyes held a strange gaze of life which combined with its petite lips, gave off the feeling of a mischievous cat. Finally, only until the absolute blackness of the night was overcome by the brilliant red and orange hues that bled like a fire over the eastern hills did my hands pause as blinding light seeped in through the paned windows of father's and mine workshop. With a tired sigh of accomplishment, my figure cloaked in the shadows rose as I stretched my mammoth frame that dominated the cramped room strewn with tools and timber. Muscles, bunched from hours of sitting in one position, groaned as I stretched and flexed them. Still, my eyes remained fixated on the figurine with a gentle fondness, as I searched for any corrections with the same care and respect an undertaker would have for a recently departed. However, before I could scrutinize my work further, a piercing call coated in sweetness carried through the house in a muffled echo. "Julian...Julian! Breakfast is ready dear!" At the ... What would you recommend to the board of NCRCC with respect to adding or changing programming activities like social activities for adults, families with children, and children? Based on the initial investigation, and after the discarding of error sources, I would recommend to the board to incorporate more social activities for the adults (Cooper & Schindler, 2014, p. 256). This is due to the seasoned members' complaints on the lack thereof. • 15. Descriptive Essay About My Kitchen Laughter, sizzling, the clinking of wine glasses and the crunching of chips float down the hallway. The smell of good food made with cumin and love. The kitchen is a place of joy and family, a place of sharing our days and silently scarfing Mom's chicken tacos. Many of the greatest moments in my life have been in my kitchen: cooking pork ribs with my dad and listening to his ridiculous old rock music, opening my first college acceptance letter, learning we were moving to Munich. Many of the worst times have been in the kitchen, too. "Uncle Dan died in Thailand." "Bampa's dementia has gotten so much worse." The beauty of the kitchen is, the bad is overshadowed by the good. The warmth of bread in the oven and the smell of sizzling chicken and caramelized onions on the stovetop are soothing, familiar, calming. It's a place of happy memories and reminders of difficult times, a place of recovery and love and growth. Putting away dishes is one of my favorite jobs because it gives me an opportunity to reflect on the personality of each dish. The ceramic blue and brown cups with the triangular designs and a certain heaviness to them are from Botswana. They live in the cabinet above the coffee maker with the matte black and orange cups that my dad brings home from work, and the white glass mugs that my mom uses that we bought at Walmart because "they're just going to get broken anyways!" The big ceramic teal bowl in the red cabinet was made in Nevada at Planet X, a hippie shop in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. The Food And The Dining Program "Food, in the end, in our own tradition, is something holy. It 's not about nutrients and calories. It 's about sharing. It 's about honesty. It 's about identity (Louise Fresco)." Most humans, including myself, enjoy eating good food. When food is less than satisfactory and people have to eat that same food on a regular basis, they tend to get sick of it. That is the problem I am currently facing in my second semester at MNU. The food was decent for a while, but the dining program lacks variety and quality. Though the dining program is below average now, I believe that it can be greatly improved by adding new items to the menu, serving the fan favorites more often, and increasing the quality of the food. By far, food is one of the most important things in this world. Most living things cannot survive without it. Not only is it necessary for life, but it something that is universally loved by everyone and everything. Some animals kill for food and some humans are even willing to fight and kill for it. All that being said, it's clear that food is important to people and it should be treated accordingly. At the moment, the dining program at MNU is not getting the job done, and it could definitely use some changes. One change that the dining hall could benefit from is adding new items to the menu. Currently, MNU serves the same things for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Breakfast consists of either pancakes or french toast, hash browns or potato wedges, and eggs. Then lunch comes ... • 21. Schilletter Dining Hall The next day on Sunday, February 28 I went to Schilletter Dining Hall at around 3:33 PM. Schilletter was smaller than Harcombe and had a different layout. Schilleter is set in a shape similar to a circle which has the different food stations all around. At first I thought that this place would have more groups of people since it is smaller but it turned out to be the opposite. In schilletter I noticed a larger amount of people isolated from each other. There were more places for people who eat alone to sit because of the layout of the dining hall. In such a short period of time people now seem more absorbed by these objects which are meant for communication but at the same time separate people from each other and shape the way people communicate. It is almost as if everyone was from a different country and did not know how to communicate with each other. My main focus on this project was the dining halls but since I currently live on a ten story building here on campus I could also notice this same behavior of using phones in the elevators. People usually walking in listening to music or with their phone, and the eye contact is kept to the minimum. Nobody says anything but a very few amount of people who say a greeting when they walk in. So with the observations on the elevator I saw that this behavior was not only displayed in dining halls, but basically everywhere and because everyone has these items I could notice it even while I was walking to my classes. Some people did not even pay attention to where they were walking because of being focused on a phone. Introducing the constant of proportionality, the resistance,[1] one arrives at the usual mathematical equation that describes this relationship:[2] where I is the current through the conductor in units of amperes, V is the potential difference measured across the conductor in units of volts, and R is the resistance of the conductor in units of ohms. ... At Drexel, we are being deprived of this necessity. While we do have a dining hall that is open for most of our day, actually eating there is an issue. This is concerning not only for Fordham students but for any school that allows Sodexo to control its dining environment. The case at Fordham got so out of hand that the dining hall was required to be shut down for a little while. Once it was finally opened back up, the students decided to hold a protest. However, this protest got them absolutely nowhere. At Drexel, there has to be a solution that we can execute to get a decent selection of food in our dining hall. At Fordham University, the method of a protest failed, as Sodexo still stayed as the school's main food supplier. Sodexo claims on its website that it has a board of students that overview it's dining services. This board of students does not have a representative from Drexel University on it. • 37. Is Dining A Good Chance? In college, does dining with only members of one's ethnicity and participating in ethic organizations/activities decline ethnic relations on campus? On one hand, only dining with one's ethic group segregates the campus by race. Also, participating in ethnic organizations and activities could make people of different ethnicities feel segregated or left out. On the other hand dining by ethnic background could just be people hanging out with whom they enjoy to be around or relate to. Further more, participating in ethnic activities and organizations could spread awareness of different cultures and give other ethnicities the chance to interact and learn about each other. In college people tend t sit with their friends when eating. Depending on where people are from, they may only be used to interacting with one ethnicity. This means when they arrive at college they are more likely to be drawn to people of that ethnicity. So in the dinning hall at any university there is a good chance there is some segregation of ethnicity. This means there is less interaction and relations going on between different ethnicities. As college get further into the school years, it will become less likely that students will break these patterns. This is because bonds and friendships have been made. First you need to prep the chicken breast. If your chicken breast is frozen, let your chicken breast thaw. To speed up the thawing process, you may use a microwave. However, set the microwave to defrost mode before thawing your chicken, which will prevent the chicken from drying out and will keep the chicken moist. • 63. Ravenhill Dining Hall Methodology Research for the revisions to Ravenhill Dining Hall began with secondary research into alternative models and dining services trends. This research gave us a foundation to build upon in the Philadelphia University community. Looking at professional journals such as Food Management, we found specific trends in the dining services as well as the driving forces behind them. These trends included students wanting flexibility, hub–like dining, and take–out or delivery (Watkins). The average Philadelphia University student is part of Generation Y, which means their relationship with food is different than previous generations. They grew up with food network's celebrity chefs, are well traveled for their age, and "engage and connect with their food," (UCI). These findings informed the models that we chose to go forward with; as we wanted to make sure that they fit these trends. Professional journals also referred us to other schools that were recognized for providing new and exciting dining services models. Such schools included Slippery Rock University, which had recently overhauled their main dining hall Boozel into a state–of–the–art facility (Food Managment). Virginia Tech actually pioneered Market Style dining in their West End Market, and the University of Maryland opened 251 North "to keep up with a trend that has ... • 65. Dining In The Awakening Dining scenes each have their own significance and meaning throughout different stories. As said in Thomas C. Fosters book How to Read Literature Like A Professor "Communion doesn't need to be holy" (Foster 9). Communion is the act of sharing between people, which bring peace among them. In the book The Awakening by Kate Chopin there were some dining scenes. Each dining scene held meaning to what was currently happening in the story. One of the first dining scenes in the book was shared between Mrs. Pontellier (Edna) and Mr. Pontellier. They were having small talk over the meal while Mr. Pontellier couldn't find liking in the meal that was put in front of him. America 's Culinary Heritage Of American Cuisine Essay With a mission of celebrating, preserving, and nurturing America's culinary heritage, for one of just a handful of times, the James Beard Foundation opened the kitchen and dining rooms of the Beard House in New York City to the Mississippi Delta. Maybe not the first, but definitely the first of its kind, an all–star cast of Delta chefs and beverage masters presented our story, their passion and their perfectly prepared menu to a packed house of predominantly New York locals. "The Beard House is considered a performance space for chefs, distillers, wine makers, brewers and chocolatiers. Its mission is to celebrate the unique regions of American cuisine. And we were thrilled to host this talented and diverse group of chefs and participants to showcase the flavors of the Mississippi Delta," says Izabela Wojcik, Director of House Programming for the James Beard Foundation. Presenting a dinner coined "The Taste of the Delta," this team graciously accepted the invitation and joined the ranks of some of the world's best chefs and beverage masters invited to cook and entertain at the Beard House. Boarding his flight due south, Chef Cole Ellis of Delta Meat Market recaps "It is by all means an honor and we definitely showed them a good time." Hand–selected and assembled by Chef Phillip Ashley Rix of Phillip Ashley Chocolates in Memphis, the team collaborated to plan and prepare a menu best sharing a glimpse of home, homage, and culinary history. • 69. The Dining Hall Just a few feet behind her, Gigliola and Josephine sat alone at a table for four facing the dining hall, having an ample view of all the other tables and the attending guests. Martha glanced at them and understood their feelings. Their expressions denoted anguish, discontent and internal conflict. Gigliola's complexion had a greyish hue, a mixture of physical illness and the anger eroding her insides. Partaking of this family gathering brought upon some members of the family, like her, a divine punishment. The Christening of Danielle, the granddaughter of Joseph Demonte and Martha his former wife had brought the family together for the first time in many years. Joseph and Marth had had only one child in the course of their marriage, Dominick Demonte, now married to Martina Marchese–Demonte with whom he had sustained a long term relationship in Buenos Aires, before their marriage in 2007. Life has blessed them with two beautiful girls, Daniella, one–year old and Lina three and a half. This memorable day kept them not only busy, but, also aware of their family commitments. Perhaps, it had borne more relevance for Dominick; Danielle's baptism had brought the family together in a celebration that could have no future parallel. The twelfth child of the Loncone–Demonte's couple, Joseph Demonte, had suffered the death of some of his siblings; Seraph, Andreapasco, Atalonne and Geronimo, were no longer with him. Often the thought of his own death transpired in his conversations, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 75. Advantages Of A Small Dining Room Of all the dining room tips available, the following ideas for a small dining room are probably the most useful to most people. Few people have large separate dining rooms, such facilities either comprising part of the kitchen or the living room, or are small rooms with limited floor area. 1. Use Light Colors Light colors tend to open out a room while dark shades tend to make it look smaller. However, light need not mean drab, and whites and pastels can be accented with a bright contrasting color. This is particularly effective when color is use to draw attention to specific decorative elements. Don't overuse color, though. Small Dining Room Acoustics One of the more useful dining room tips that you do not often find is to deaden the acoustics in the room. A small room with plain walls and woodblock flooring will reflect sound waves, so that conversation will appear to boom and reverberate, particularly as the evening goes on and the wine starts to take effect! While a highly polished or even rustic wood table looks nice, it is more practical to use a tablecloth. This not only protects the table from scratches and dropped food, but also absorbs sound waves. Fabric wall–coverings also look good while wallpaper is better that paint or paneling. Each of these helps to deaden sound so that you can hear what people are saying without the booming and reflection of their voices. 6. Dining Room Tips: ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
