An Analysis of Jetstar's Business Strategy
An Analysis of Jetstar's Business Strategy Introduction Launched just 8 years ago, today, the Jetstar
Group consists of a network of value–based air carriers that deliver high quality air passenger
services for budget–minded travelers across Australia, New Zealand and the Asia Pacific region.
Beginning with just 400 employees, the company currently employs more than 7,000 people and
carries about 20 million passengers a year. To gain some insights into how the Jetstar Group
achieved this impressive growth in such a short amount of time, this paper provides a review of the
relevant literature concerning the air passenger industry in general and the business strategy used by
the Jetstar Group in particular. A summary of the research and recommendations for this company
are provided in the paper's conclusion. Review and Analysis Jetstar's Strategy Owned by parent
company Qantas, the Jetstar Group is comprised of a network of value–based air carriers that deliver
passenger services across Australia, New Zealand and the Asia Pacific region (About Jetstar, 2012).
The Jetstar Group's most recent five–year strategy has been to "turn the international business
around [by] reducing investment in underperforming business areas and directing capital towards
growth opportunities" (Qantas Reports Strong Full–Year Profit in Challenging Conditions, 2011). In

Swot Analysis Of United Airlines
Introduction
The airline industry has been a major factor in the globalization of the world economy. It connects
the sellers and the buyers as well as transports goods across countries. It also breaks the time and
distance barriers. In the past, air travel was considered a luxury but it is now a common necessity.
The " Battle Of The Air" has been used to describe current situation in the airline industry. The
emergence of " No Frills " discount carriers such as Air Asia, Mahlindo, Firefly have threatened the
survival of the traditional giants such as MAS, SIA, Thai Airways in the APAC regions and even the
Big Boys across the continents such as United, Delta, Continental, Luftansa, Emirates and US

Weaknesses
( i ) High Dependency On Third Party Providers
United depends strongly on third party providers to ensure smooth operations. Many integral
functions comprising of the maintenance, repair, fuelling of the aircraft as well as call centres are
outsourced. This increases the company's expenses and decreases the revenue.
The company's reputation will be at stake if these third party providers fail to perform or to live up
to expectations.
( ii ) Strong Unions
A strong majority of the United's employees are part of professional unions as per the following :
Flight attendants : AFA
Pilots : ALPA
Engineers : IFPTE
Dispatchers : PAFCA
More than 5,000 flights were cancelled as a result of pilots going on strike ( Washington Post, 2000
). United's schedule was on standstill for 29 days when their pilots went on strike in 1985 resulting
in severe losses and a downward plunge in customer confidence ( www.alpa.org, 1985

Technological Advancements, Deregulation, and Competitive...
Introduction
The airline industry is one that has rapidly evolved both with regards to technology and product
offerings. This paper argues that technological advancements, deregulation and competitive pricing
and marketing strategies are what have driven change in regards to JetBlue. The paper goes on to
explain how each of these factors affects and drives change in the other three. Deregulation occurred
to increase competition; competition in turn affects innovation in marketing and pricing as well as
technology, yet this process has no specific order with regards to where the change starts as
innovation and competition, can then affect the way the market is regulated. The paper begins by
giving a history of pricing strategies and how the deregulation that occurred in 1978 revolutionized
the business and it's pricing. It then goes on to the industry analysis which discusses how travel
agencies affected pricing due to the percentage that they took from sales. Yet with the advent of the
Internet, brick and mortar travel agencies became basically obsolete as more and more passengers
began choosing the cheaper online alternative. This new technology cut out the middleman, and also
allowed airline industries to diminish their own costs by diminishing personnel, as they developed
company websites from which the passengers could purchase flight tickets. The Internet also
allowed airline companies to develop dynamic pricing models, where they could monitor their
competitors'

Essay on The Pros and Cons of College Open Enrollment
There isn't anything more important to community colleges than the certainty that they can and
should provide all qualified people who are looking to be accepted with admittance (Vaughan). The
people of the community college represent forty–four percent of all undergraduates and forty–nine
percent of students attending college for the first time (David). These students include a lot of
minority students, students with a low social standing and the non–standard (age twenty–five and
older) student who commonly enters college less academically equipped (David). Most community
colleges have made immense advancement in reducing a lot of geographical and economic
blockades that have in the past limited college admittance (David). Community ... Show more

If these people don't get the proper education they will most likely cost the state more money in the
long run because the people will not make enough money. Nathan Glazer, a writer of The New
Republic, believes that the community college is essentially a remedial college and a job training
college that prepares people for a specific job that they are not able to attain the next level of
education. The state will save money if it pays for remedial education rather than letting people go
without education. Anne C. Lewis, a national education policy writer believes that if all students are
ready and prepared for college, then jobs will be waiting for them when they are finished. People
without an education are more likely to end up living off of the government through welfare and
other government agencies. Achieving higher education would mean a financially secure future
(Lewis). Many colleges are dedicating their financial and human resources to teaching what students
should have learned in their elementary and secondary schools (Manno). Dr. Sandy Shugart,
President of North Harris College, reveals that President Lyndon Johnson believes that education is
the only way a person will excel from poverty. Linda Seebach, writer for the Rocky Mountain
News, believes that students that blow off high school with the thought that

A Review On Cloud Elasticity For System Performance...
A review on cloud elasticity for system performance improvement and cost reduction Pancham
Baruah ME–CN Department of Computer Engineering DY Patil School of Engineering &
Technology Charoli, Pune – India Abstract: Cloud Computing as a new enterprise model has
become popular to provide on–demand services to user as needed. Cloud Computing is essentially
powerful computing paradigm to deliver services over the network. Computing at the scale of the
Cloud system allows users to access the enormous resources on–demand. However, a user demand
on resources can be various in different time and maintaining sufficient resources to meet peak
resource requirements all the time can be costly. Therefore, dynamic scalability which can also be
called as elasticity is a critical key point to the success of Cloud Computing environment. Dynamic
resizing is a feature which allows server to resize the virtual machine to fill the new requirement of
resources in a cloud environment. Though there are enormous applications hosted on cloud now a
days, but the next big thing which will be focused on will be the elasticity. In this paper, an effort
has been put to explain the cloud elasticity concept and how it will benefit the Cloud implementers
in reducing operation cost and also to improve the system's performance as a whole. Keywords:

Water Pollution in Cairo Essay
Water Pollution in Cairo
The scale of pollution in Cairo is mammoth with the ever, continuing amounts of waste being
released into the city. With the ever, growing population of Cairo levels of pollution are sure to
increase. Recently the large EU financial institution announced on April 10 that it had awarded
Egypt a grant of $79,000 to investigate the cause of the choking air pollution in the city, which has
been blamed on Nile Delta. Due the massive amounts of pollution Cairo's daily air quality remains a
constant health concern. The World Health Organization has reported that the air pollution in
downtown Cairo is 10 to 100 times above the level considered safe

· Most of the wastewater collected by sewerage has not received much or in some areas no
treatment. Also many wastewater treatment plants do operate unsatisfactorily.
· At the moment there are at least six operating domestic wastewater treatment plants serving the
Greater Cairo area, and none of them discharge to the Nile near Cairo: three plants discharge
through agricultural drains to the Northern Lakes and the Mediterranean, and the bilge water from
two plants will be used largely for desert irrigation and land reclamation; only one plant discharges
to the Nile, through an agricultural drain.
· Dumping solid waste – due to lack of solid waste collection – into waterways increases water
pollution; in the city districts many small Nile canals are totally filled with plastic bags full of solid
waste.

The State Of The Texas Education Policy
The current state of the Texas education policy is very complex and its roots can be traced all the
way back to times were there was no equality in the public school system, we can even say it can be
traced as far back to the state's split from Mexico. This was a very problematic situation that began
to be reformed heavily starting in 1954. The legislations that passed to resolve this problem have
morphed the Texas Public education policy into what it is today.
It was because of the split from Mexico that Texas created the Constitution of the Republic of Texas,
which included a clause in it that established a public school system, but it wasn't successful in
achieving that goal until 1954 when a bill was passed. This plan was to be ... Show more content on

They were in charge of creating policies for Texas public education, choosing a budget, making
rules for school accreditation, and being in control of agreements for supplying the public schools
(i.e. textbooks). They also had the right to choose a commission of education, whom would serve
for, four years and would become the chief executive officer for the TEA.
While the Texas public school system may not be segregated now it took a lot of court cases to get
there due to Texas past as a highly segregated state. While this is the route that Texas takes, the
United States simply takes the route of creating acts such as Race and National Origin
Discrimination. Desegregation has been a troubling issue in not only the Texas public school system
but also the United States as a whole. However, they have had to two totally different ways to
handle this situation. Under the Texas Constitution separation of races was not wronged. This all
change after a very controversial court case, Plessy vs. Ferguson and continued to reform by way of
court decisions. The Plessy vs. Ferguson case decided that facilities could be segregated, but they
must be "equal". Texas being the highly racist state that it was at the time found loopholes around
this judgment. Many of the schools for "colored" didn't have enough supplies, outdated textbooks
and underpaid and not very well

Nasa's Mission To Mars Research Paper
Mathematically Modeling NASA's Upcoming Insight Mission to Mars
Introduction:
Ever since I was a little boy I've been fascinated with space. Being an astronaut would be out of this
world; however, mechanical engineering has always been a dream of mine. Rockets and satellites
are of great interest to me, and the future Mars missions are exciting. As I can't physically travel to
Mars, the pictures and data collected by the many NASA probes sent there are the next best thing. At
first, I thought that sending a rocket to Mars wouldn't be that hard; you just aim the rocket at Mars
and launch it. However, it is much more complex than that. In my investigation I will
mathematically model the next rocket launch to Mars which is NASA's Insight ... Show more

However, by having a smaller change in velocity, the trip requires less fuel and costs less as a result.
When comparing this hypothetical journey to Mars to NASA's planned mission, the orbital path is
similar; however, the time to arrive is longer by about 52 days. Although not exactly the same flight
duration, the difference can be a result of the fact that Earth and Mars' orbits aren't perfect circles
and have varying distances from each other which affect travel distance and times. The difference in
time can also stem from Kepler's Third Law: it only factors in the semi–major orbit and the effect of
the sun's gravity to determine speed. However, there was no way to factor in the speed of the rocket
to see its affect on the time. In conclusion, the Hohmann Transfer Orbit is the method of choice for
spacecraft and offers reliable, albeit not 100 percent accurate data of the time and changes in

Essay about Charter Schools
Charter schools are an alternative to public schools. Whether this alternative is a better solution to
the public schools is the argument. Public schools can be just as creative as charter schools. Public
schools are funded by our tax dollars, which ultimately the United States Government decides where
those funds go. Education should be the last thing to be cut in the budget, but unfortunately, we the
people do not have a choice other than the public offices whom we hope will do what they have said
in their election speeches. Charter schools have come about to fill the gap that public schools cannot
fill. They can gear their curriculum to student needs, where some public schools cannot because of
funding cuts.
Charters are innovative, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some paperwork though is necessary to keep track of the students and their academic records.
Parents have several options through Charter Schools. Exceptional students, kids with learning
disabilities, ADHD, or emotional issues have many diversified options, which include full–time
boarding schools, therapeutic wilderness programs, and design and technology based schools.
Parents can send their child to the school that is best for the child, not just the school that is the most
convenient.
Furthermore, focus is critical to the student's ability to succeed and the charter's ability to educate its
students. With special attention, the school can demonstrate a comprehensive strategy stressing a
field of study, such as technical or artistic disciplines. In this way, getting students ready for the real
world, gears them up for college, sets them up for continued success. "The charter schools'
superiority was greater in states where they had been in existence longer and enrolled more
students." ("The Charter Advantage," 2005) A school's assertive actions can weed out teachers who
are not performing adequately. Teachers must be able to teach in a way (not necessarily mainstream)
that instructs, inspires, and motivates students to excel. Charter schools have the ability to do that.
Students may not have the same abilities or interests, but the teacher must allow the student's

identify if the use of a traditional salary schedule was prevalent. Over 90% of traditional schools use
some form of schedule versus charter–62.2%, private–65.9%, and nonreligious regular schools–
45.1%. Summarizing Podursky et. al. (2007), it was concluded from the data ranging from 1999–
2000 that private and charter schools had a significantly higher use of performance pay bonuses. It
is clarified that because these studies were short lived the overall determinations of effectiveness lie
within motivation and not in sorting of teachers effectiveness. Podursky et. al. (2007) discussed the
comparison of teacher performance on evaluations conducted by the principal to student
achievement. It was concluded, "Research literature to date and particularly the recent work by
Jacobs and Lefgren show that subjective evaluations of teacher performance are valid measures of
teacher effectiveness as measured by student achievement gains." (p. 562). Principal evaluations
reflecting low stakes were used to acquire these results. The question still remains if these types of
evaluations will continue to be of value in a merit based system. Also would a principal who would
normally give a teacher a lower performance score, under regular circumstances–non–high stakes
evaluations, do the same if it were

Should Marijuana Be Legal?
Marijuana has been used as medicine since ancient times. There have been evidences that are found

Nevertheless, she notes, by the end of the century, the use of marijuana had declined as doctors

the addiction of large number of Americans to drugs, many of them were white and rural women led
to the passing of the legislation of the federal government to control the importation, production,

medicines be clearly labeled, effectively ending the patent medicine industry. Later, the Congress
passed several laws to keep narcotics out of the hands of the public. The major ones are, the
Harrison Narcotic Act of 1914, which granted the federal government the authority to tax and
regulate the sale and distribution of narcotics; the Jones –Miller Act of 1922, which imposed stiff
penalties for the importation of narcotics; and the Narcotic Drug Import and Export Act of 1922,

not aimed specifically at marijuana, but they paved a way for the regulatory institute eventually to

The Big Bang Theory
Chemistry is seen everywhere, and provides the building blocks to matter. Since the dawn of
intelligent life, humans have asked the age old question, "Where do we come from". Many have
thought of elaborate reasons or explanations to answer this including what we know as Ancient
mythology and, to some, modern religion. As society progresses in the field of science, and we
expand our knowledge of space these "explanations" hold less veracity. We now have intelligent
explanations for things like waves, the sun, orbits, why the sky is blue, and evolution. These
questions have led us to the brink of our knowledge, which ends with the "Big Bang Theory". The
"Big Bang Theory" is the theory of how our universe began. It goes that the Universe started as a
singularity, an extremely dense, hot, and small spot often thought of to be exhibited in black holes.
Little is known about this singularity however scientists theorize that space and time came into
existence after the expansion of it around 13.7 billion years ago. What really confuses scientists who
work in field like "CERN" or with machines like the "Large Hadron Collider", are the unequal
amounts of matter and antimatter created by the Big Bang. According to studies done in particle
accelerators, an equal amount of matter and antimatter should have been created due the big bang
and canceled each other out leaving just energy. However this isn 't the case, the uneven distribution
led to the formation of Planets, Stars,

The proposed numerical frame work for the study is summarized in Figure 1. A one–dimensional
(1D) model is used for large–scale long–term simulation of flow hydrodynamics and sediment
transport patterns in the LAR. Furthermore, a 1D ice model is used to predict the winter ice
coverage and its effect on the river flow characteristics; however, other ice processes (such as ice
breakup) are not taken into account. The results of the ice model are used to modify the sediment
transport and hydrodynamic models to account for the effect of winter ice–cover. The sediment
transport simulations serve as the basis for setting up contaminant transport models for a selection of
three PAH (pyrene (PY), phenantrene (Ph), and C1– Benz[a]anthracenes/Chrysenes (BAC1)) and

dollar exchange rate moved nearly 20 percent. Empirical studies demonstrate that FX volatility can
significantly affect companies' profits.
Multinational businesses face several types of FX risk, including financial, translational,
transactional and economic FX risk. We focus here on economic risk, also known as operational or
competitive FX risk. Economic risk arises, for example, when a multinational business incurs costs
in one currency and generates sales in another. Profits may decrease if the cost currency appreciates
against the sales currency.
Multinational businesses have tools to reduce economic FX risk. They may use financial
instruments to hedge unfavorable FX moves, although doing so entails explicit costs. They also may
change their operations to reduce FX risk. For instance, they may change the denomination of cash
deposits, restructure contracts, relocate plants, or change the source of capital or production
materials. They may share FX risks with related parties or pass the costs or benefits of FX changes
through to unrelated customers or suppliers. But even businesses that hedge or optimally structure
their operations to reduce FX risk may be disadvantaged if a competitor experiences a favorable FX
move.

On that foundation, we are pursuing one big, overarching goal. We aim to be the world's strongest,
best and best–integrated aerospace company – for today and tomorrow. Measured against that goal,
2007 stands out as a year of significant – and accelerating – progress. We achieved record financial
performance, which reflects the potent combination of good top–line growth and strong gains in
productivity. Total revenues rose to an all–time high of $66.4 billion. For the first time ever, both of
our core businesses – Boeing Commercial Airplanes and Boeing Integrated Defense Systems –
simultaneously achieved double–digit operating margins. Gains in productivity and performance in
existing programs contributed significantly to earnings and helped offset additional investment in
key growth programs. Our cash flow went from strong to even stronger – increasing from $7.5
billion in 2006 to $9.6 billion in 2007.
We also had our best year ever in capturing new business and adding to a backlog that now totals
almost one third of a trillion dollars – or just about five times our total revenues in 2007. Boeing
Commercial Airplanes had spectacular success in landing 1,423 airplane orders during 2007,

The airline industry is currently unprofitable; it lost $9.4 billion in 2009 and is forecasted to lose
another $2.8 billion in 2010. Analysts agree that, if done properly, merging two airlines into one can
reduce capacity in a saturated industry that already has too many planes in the air, and permit the
newly merged carrier to cut its employee ranks and consolidate costly operations for services like
reservations and gate maintenance. If profits return, the airlines could invest them into improving
customer service and possibly waiving fees for baggage and in–flight meals that have frustrated
travelers. However, the key words are "if done properly." Past experience of airlines has shown that
consolidation has not always fostered higher prices and profits (Knowledge@Wharton, 2010). For
example, in 1987 USAir acquired Piedmont Aviation for $1.6 billion. Prior to the merger, these two
comparably–sized firms were among the most profitable carriers in the industry. However, soon
after the merger USAir became the least profitable airline and almost went bankrupt. Analysts
conclude that the major source of the value destruction in the merger was USAir's workforce
integration strategy. The decision to win labor peace by expending USAir's more generous work
rules and pay scales to

High School Intellectual Analysis
I have had many intellectual experiences in my life, but one that particularly stands out to me was
when I went to the Johnson Space Center in Houston for one week last summer. At that time, I was a
rising senior going there to participate in a summer program called High School
Aerospace Scholars, or HAS. This NASA program selected, after a lengthy examination program, a
small group of students from all over Texas to be HAS scholars, splitting them into four different
teams upon arrival: Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, and Delta. After I was accepted into the program, I was
put into Delta Team with a handful of other HAS scholars. The first day on–site, our team's
coordinator gathered us together and, after a short description of the HAS program,

To achieve this, I started by communicating with my teammates to find out their best aspects and
compatibilities with one another. After I had learned enough about the team, I allocated team
members to tasks so that those who were enthusiastic about a task generally were assigned to that
task and that tasks with higher priorities received more students to work on them.
Delta team encountered various obstacles throughout the week. For example, rockets that our team
had built for a demonstration were lost by a coordinator, and we had to rebuild them all in only a
small fraction of the original time. Fortunately, I managed to recruit scholars from other teams so we
could build the replacement rockets more quickly. Another example was when the scholar I had
assigned to be the design head of the model Mars rover went over the materials budget. The
designer said that the increased effectiveness of his design would pay for the increased budget, but
the team was skeptical. Eventually, the designer and I reached a compromise where he would
remove some parts and lower the cost, but still keep the main parts of the design. The rover
managed to perform relatively well in tests while not being

Inequa In Texas Essay
Educational Inequities in Texas
Public schools in Texas are disproportionately funded due to the state formulas contained in the
Foundation School Program. As Governor, we need to change the state's formulas to truly distribute
funding between public schools in Texas fixing the inequities. By changing the formula and making
it more transparent, the legislature will be able to more effectively address the issues. I want the
school's to receive the same amount of resources so that every student may thrive and grow into the
best they can be no matter where they live.
The formulation of the policy will consist of the "curative approach" (Traina, 2015, 210). By
changing the state funding formula, we will be able to eradicate the inequities that ... Show more

In order to implement this policy, responsibility will be bestowed upon the "Foundation School
Program" and the Texas state Legislature (Grusendorf, 2015, pg.2). These two groups play the most
vital role in changing and implementing the new "state formulas" (Grusendorf, 2015, pg.3). Both
will work together in creating and agreeing to the new state formulas. We will review the formulas
every year and decide if funding is truly being distributed with equity. Only if they are not then will
both organizations have to re–write the formulas to improve upon them.
As governor of Texas, I believe that the public schools funding need to have more equity. In order to
do that we need to change the state's formulas that decide how funding is distributed. Although some
may not like the way their money is being distributed, the money is going towards a good cause. If
we can fund schools in poverty just as much as those who are more wealthy, then we could improve
our education system exponentially.
Water Conservation
In the state of Texas, we are constantly confronted with the issue of water shortages. In order to
conserve our water supply, we must enact a policy that educates people on the best ways to conserve
water during their daily lives. There will be commercials on things such as "cutting showers short",
how and when to "water your lawn," "water re–usage," and so many more things (Kurunthachalam,
2014, 1). I want the state to be less concerned during times

Monte Carlo Simulation
Preface This is a book about Monte Carlo methods from the perspective of financial engineering.
Monte Carlo simulation has become an essential tool in the pricing of derivative securities and in
risk management; these applications have, in turn, stimulated research into new Monte Carlo
techniques and renewed interest in some old techniques. This is also a book about financial
engineering from the perspective of Monte Carlo methods. One of the best ways to develop an
understanding of a model of, say, the term structure of interest rates is to implement a simulation of
the model; and finding ways to improve the efficiency of a simulation motivates a deeper
investigation into properties of a model. My intended audience is a mix of graduate ... Show more

Students often come to a course in Monte Carlo with limited exposure to this material, and the
implementation of a simulation becomes more meaningful if accompanied by an understanding of a
model and its context. Moreover, it is precisely in model details that many of the most interesting
simulation issues arise. If the first three chapters deal with running a simulation, the next three deal
with ways of running it better. Chapter 4 presents methods for increasing precision by reducing the
variance of Monte Carlo estimates. Chapter 5 discusses the application of deterministic quasi–
Monte Carlo methods for numerical integration. Chapter 6 addresses the problem of discretization
error that results from simulating discrete–time approximations to continuous–time models. The last
three chapters address topics specific to the application of Monte Carlo methods in finance. Chapter
7 covers methods for estimating price sensitivities or "Greeks." Chapter 8 deals with the pricing of
American options, which entails solving an optimal stopping problem within a simulation. Chapter 9
is an introduction to the use of Monte Carlo methods in risk management. It discusses the
measurement of market risk and credit risk in financial portfolios. The models and methods of this
final chapter are rather different from vii those in the other chapters,

Future Colony On Mars
The future colony on Mars will need to have an "intelligent use of local resources" (Zubrin3, 2)
from the planet's surface, have excellent crew morale and compatibility, and be entirely self–
sufficient. This type of colony is imperative because of the fact that resupply spacecraft from Earth
take several months to reach Mars, and precision landings, where rockets are used to guide a
descending spacecraft very near a targeted object, or location, are extremely difficult. In addition the
base would to not be allowed to use, or utilize NASA's 90–Day Report program as a stepping stone

Theory of Capital Structure
Theory of Capital Structure – A Review
Stein Frydenberg£ April 29, 2004
ABSTRACT This paper is a review of the central theoretical literature. The most important
arguments for what could determine capital structure is the pecking order theory and the static trade
off theory. These two theories are reviewed, but neither of them provides a complete description of
the situation and why some firms prefer equity and others debt under different circumstances. The
paper is ended by a summary where the option price paradigm is proposed as a comprehensible
model that can augment most partial arguments. The capital structure and corporate finance
literature is filled with different models, but few, if any give a complete picture.

The theoretical models of capital structure in a world in which capital markets are not perfect relates
capital structure to several measurable and nonmeasurable attributes of a firm. The irrelevance
proposition provides conditions under which the capital structure of a firm is irrelevant to total firm
value. Turning the irrelevance proposition around, the proposition also tells us which factors that
may be the causes of corporate capital structure. The assumptions giving irrelevance as a result may
cause relevance if they are broken. The question is, do they, and if so to what extent? And what if
several imperfections exist simultaneously? Besides the irrelevance hypothesis of Modigliani and
Miller there are several other theories relevant to capital structure. These are the asset substitution
hypothesis, under–investment hypothesis, the free–cash flow hypothesis, the signaling hypothesis
and product markets arguments. 3
.1. Value Additive Model of Capital Structure State preference models have been used extensively
in the finance literature as a general framework for explanation of the irrelevance hypothesis. Both
Lewellen and Mauer (1988), Kraus and Litzenberger (1973), Stiglitz (1969) and Hirshleifer (1966)
have used this approach.

The Allocation Of Relief Food
ALLOCATION OF RELIEF FOOD
Food security is defined as a situation in which a countries people have physical, social and
economic access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food which meets their dietary needs and food
preferences for an active and healthy life.
In the recent years, and especially starting from 2008, the Kenya has been facing severe food
insecurity problems. These are depicted by a high proportion of the population having no access to
food in the right amounts and quality. Official estimates indicate over 10 million people are food
insecure with majority of them living on food relief.
Since not every person is able to access the relief food, the government has come up with ways to
ensure that is able to curb drought so as to increase the level of farm production and solve food
insecurity problems.
MEASURES TAKEN TO FACILITATE DISTRIBUTION OF RELIEF FOOD.

There are two main aspects that describe and affect both service quality; the actual service
customers expected (expected service) and services perceived (perceived service). Fitzsimmons &
Fitzsimmons (2001) explains that the creation of customer satisfaction for a service can be identified
through a comparison between service perceptions with service expectation, see Figure 1.
Methods
Focus on utilizing secondary airports and older terminals should reduce airport fees and also up to a
certain point it is possible to avoid head–on competition with or any of the high end airline services.
This will enable less congested airports, reduce average flight times and delay incidents.
Consequently Indigo will start to attract business travellers who value punctuality and frequency.
Other important features that can be added include innovative boarding processes that yield shorter
ground waits are
Reduce and monitor air freights – Since these airlines are frequent flyers reducing the load on the

RE: WATER CRISIS UPDATE
Summary
Mr. President,
The world's supply of water is in steep decline as more and more is being used each year by more
and more people around the globe. Currently, 800 million people do not have access to a drinking
source. At the current rate, 1.8 billion people could be living in areas of absolute water scarcity by
2025.
It is time to fully address the issue of the impending world water crisis by assisting the areas
currently experiencing the crisis. Sub–Saharan Africa is the region most in need of international
assistance, and a region in which we are already supplying aid. However, our current policies are not

Increased access to improved water sources and sanitation facilities is the key to bringing these
countries out of poverty and into prosperity. Water is essential to life on Earth and has thus been
declared a human right by the UN. The US has not yet formally acknowledged this human right, a
right which, if ignored, could launch regions such as the Lake Chad Basin into a violent water war.
Lake Chad is used by four countries as a water source, and has shrunk by 90% in the past 50 years
due to mismanagement and climate change. It is time for the United States to do what it does best:
lead.
The US can be a leader in the fight for water equality by formally declaring water a human right.
The US is in a unique position, because we have already done so much to aid people in water–
stressed regions. This experience will be invaluable in escalating our efforts to secure the natural
human right to clean and sustainable water for our allies in Sub–Saharan Africa. We can dedicate
our vast resources and capable personnel in innovative and strategic ways to this most noble of all
causes to bring prosperity abroad and secure it for posterity at home.
Background
Water may be a renewable resource, but the world's supply of drinkable fresh water is being
consumed more rapidly than ever before, and most importantly, more rapidly than it can be
replenished. Only 2.5% of water on Earth is fresh

Eda 561: The History Of Curriculum Planning
The History of Curriculum Planning

The History of Curriculum Planning An effective curriculum depends on its design. When
developing and planning a curriculum, educators must focus on student success. According to
Danielson (2002), "educators follow clearly defined steps that are designed to link the local
curriculum to state and district content standards" (p. 81). Once a state has established a Standard
Course of Study, educators can design a curriculum that will provide the most appropriate education
possible for the diverse learners in that state. This will prepare students to become successful,
contributing members in a 21st century society and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The negative effects of gifted education include funding issues for hiring teachers capable of
teaching gifted students and allocation of funds. Again, movements such as NCLB have overlooked
the population of gifted students. Collaboration and planning a curriculum that uses differentiated
instruction is an effective way to reach gifted students. Since funding is in short supply for gifted
education, reaching out to community leaders will help them gain an understanding of the needs of
gifted children. This can help dispel the myth that "gifted children can make it on their own"
(Roberts & Siegle, 2012). To save gifted education and serve gifted students, some schools are
turning to the Schoolwide Cluster Grouping Model (SCGM). "When implemented well, the SCGM
represents one viable solution for providing effective and consistent gifted services within certain
budget restraints" (Brulles & Winebrenner, 2011, p. 35). This model allows school leaders to embed
gifted education services into the school system, making it possible that all students' needs are met
(Brulles & Winebrenner, 2011). Funds will still have to be allocated for teacher training.
Classroom instruction should reflect societal needs, the needs of students, and recommendations of
experts in their field of study. These are important components when planning an effective
curriculum. It is clear that ELL program models do not work for everyone, in other words, 'one size
does not fit

  • 10. Technological Advancements, Deregulation, and Competitive... Introduction The airline industry is one that has rapidly evolved both with regards to technology and product offerings. This paper argues that technological advancements, deregulation and competitive pricing and marketing strategies are what have driven change in regards to JetBlue. The paper goes on to explain how each of these factors affects and drives change in the other three. Deregulation occurred to increase competition; competition in turn affects innovation in marketing and pricing as well as technology, yet this process has no specific order with regards to where the change starts as innovation and competition, can then affect the way the market is regulated. The paper begins by giving a history of pricing strategies and how the deregulation that occurred in 1978 revolutionized the business and it's pricing. It then goes on to the industry analysis which discusses how travel agencies affected pricing due to the percentage that they took from sales. Yet with the advent of the Internet, brick and mortar travel agencies became basically obsolete as more and more passengers began choosing the cheaper online alternative. This new technology cut out the middleman, and also allowed airline industries to diminish their own costs by diminishing personnel, as they developed company websites from which the passengers could purchase flight tickets. The Internet also allowed airline companies to develop dynamic pricing models, where they could monitor their competitors' ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay on The Pros and Cons of College Open Enrollment There isn't anything more important to community colleges than the certainty that they can and should provide all qualified people who are looking to be accepted with admittance (Vaughan). The people of the community college represent forty–four percent of all undergraduates and forty–nine percent of students attending college for the first time (David). These students include a lot of minority students, students with a low social standing and the non–standard (age twenty–five and older) student who commonly enters college less academically equipped (David). Most community colleges have made immense advancement in reducing a lot of geographical and economic blockades that have in the past limited college admittance (David). Community ... Nathan Glazer, a writer of The New Republic, believes that the community college is essentially a remedial college and a job training college that prepares people for a specific job that they are not able to attain the next level of education. The state will save money if it pays for remedial education rather than letting people go without education. Anne C. Lewis, a national education policy writer believes that if all students are ready and prepared for college, then jobs will be waiting for them when they are finished. People without an education are more likely to end up living off of the government through welfare and other government agencies. Achieving higher education would mean a financially secure future (Lewis). Many colleges are dedicating their financial and human resources to teaching what students should have learned in their elementary and secondary schools (Manno). A review on cloud elasticity for system performance improvement and cost reduction Pancham Baruah ME–CN Department of Computer Engineering DY Patil School of Engineering & Technology Charoli, Pune – India Abstract: Cloud Computing as a new enterprise model has become popular to provide on–demand services to user as needed. Cloud Computing is essentially powerful computing paradigm to deliver services over the network. Computing at the scale of the Cloud system allows users to access the enormous resources on–demand. However, a user demand on resources can be various in different time and maintaining sufficient resources to meet peak resource requirements all the time can be costly. Therefore, dynamic scalability which can also be called as elasticity is a critical key point to the success of Cloud Computing environment. Dynamic resizing is a feature which allows server to resize the virtual machine to fill the new requirement of resources in a cloud environment. Though there are enormous applications hosted on cloud now a days, but the next big thing which will be focused on will be the elasticity. In this paper, an effort has been put to explain the cloud elasticity concept and how it will benefit the Cloud implementers in reducing operation cost and also to improve the system's performance as a whole. The State Of The Texas Education Policy The current state of the Texas education policy is very complex and its roots can be traced all the way back to times were there was no equality in the public school system, we can even say it can be traced as far back to the state's split from Mexico. This was a very problematic situation that began to be reformed heavily starting in 1954. The legislations that passed to resolve this problem have morphed the Texas Public education policy into what it is today. As I can't physically travel to Mars, the pictures and data collected by the many NASA probes sent there are the next best thing. When comparing this hypothetical journey to Mars to NASA's planned mission, the orbital path is similar; however, the time to arrive is longer by about 52 days. Although not exactly the same flight duration, the difference can be a result of the fact that Earth and Mars' orbits aren't perfect circles and have varying distances from each other which affect travel distance and times. The difference in time can also stem from Kepler's Third Law: it only factors in the semi–major orbit and the effect of the sun's gravity to determine speed. However, there was no way to factor in the speed of the rocket to see its affect on the time. In conclusion, the Hohmann Transfer Orbit is the method of choice for spacecraft and offers reliable, albeit not 100 percent accurate data of the time and changes in velocity for an interplanetary ... • 37. The Big Bang Theory Chemistry is seen everywhere, and provides the building blocks to matter. Since the dawn of intelligent life, humans have asked the age old question, "Where do we come from". Many have thought of elaborate reasons or explanations to answer this including what we know as Ancient mythology and, to some, modern religion. As society progresses in the field of science, and we expand our knowledge of space these "explanations" hold less veracity. We now have intelligent explanations for things like waves, the sun, orbits, why the sky is blue, and evolution. These questions have led us to the brink of our knowledge, which ends with the "Big Bang Theory". The "Big Bang Theory" is the theory of how our universe began. It goes that the Universe started as a singularity, an extremely dense, hot, and small spot often thought of to be exhibited in black holes. Little is known about this singularity however scientists theorize that space and time came into existence after the expansion of it around 13.7 billion years ago. What really confuses scientists who work in field like "CERN" or with machines like the "Large Hadron Collider", are the unequal amounts of matter and antimatter created by the Big Bang. According to studies done in particle accelerators, an equal amount of matter and antimatter should have been created due the big bang and canceled each other out leaving just energy. Economic risk arises, for example, when a multinational business incurs costs in one currency and generates sales in another. Profits may decrease if the cost currency appreciates against the sales currency. Multinational businesses have tools to reduce economic FX risk. They may use financial instruments to hedge unfavorable FX moves, although doing so entails explicit costs. They also may change their operations to reduce FX risk. For instance, they may change the denomination of cash deposits, restructure contracts, relocate plants, or change the source of capital or production materials. They may share FX risks with related parties or pass the costs or benefits of FX changes through to unrelated customers or suppliers. The airline industry is currently unprofitable; it lost $9.4 billion in 2009 and is forecasted to lose another $2.8 billion in 2010. Analysts agree that, if done properly, merging two airlines into one can reduce capacity in a saturated industry that already has too many planes in the air, and permit the newly merged carrier to cut its employee ranks and consolidate costly operations for services like reservations and gate maintenance. If profits return, the airlines could invest them into improving customer service and possibly waiving fees for baggage and in–flight meals that have frustrated travelers. However, the key words are "if done properly." Past experience of airlines has shown that consolidation has not always fostered higher prices and profits (Knowledge@Wharton, 2010). For example, in 1987 USAir acquired Piedmont Aviation for $1.6 billion. Prior to the merger, these two comparably–sized firms were among the most profitable carriers in the industry. However, soon after the merger USAir became the least profitable airline and almost went bankrupt. Analysts conclude that the major source of the value destruction in the merger was USAir's workforce integration strategy. High School Intellectual Analysis I have had many intellectual experiences in my life, but one that particularly stands out to me was when I went to the Johnson Space Center in Houston for one week last summer. At that time, I was a rising senior going there to participate in a summer program called High School Aerospace Scholars, or HAS. This NASA program selected, after a lengthy examination program, a small group of students from all over Texas to be HAS scholars, splitting them into four different teams upon arrival: Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, and Delta. After I was accepted into the program, I was put into Delta Team with a handful of other HAS scholars. After I had learned enough about the team, I allocated team members to tasks so that those who were enthusiastic about a task generally were assigned to that task and that tasks with higher priorities received more students to work on them. Delta team encountered various obstacles throughout the week. For example, rockets that our team had built for a demonstration were lost by a coordinator, and we had to rebuild them all in only a small fraction of the original time. Fortunately, I managed to recruit scholars from other teams so we could build the replacement rockets more quickly. Another example was when the scholar I had assigned to be the design head of the model Mars rover went over the materials budget. The designer said that the increased effectiveness of his design would pay for the increased budget, but the team was skeptical. Eventually, the designer and I reached a compromise where he would remove some parts and lower the cost, but still keep the main parts of the design. The rover managed to perform relatively well in tests while not being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As Governor, we need to change the state's formulas to truly distribute funding between public schools in Texas fixing the inequities. By changing the formula and making it more transparent, the legislature will be able to more effectively address the issues. I want the school's to receive the same amount of resources so that every student may thrive and grow into the best they can be no matter where they live. The formulation of the policy will consist of the "curative approach" (Traina, 2015, 210). By changing the state funding formula, we will be able to eradicate the inequities that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order to implement this policy, responsibility will be bestowed upon the "Foundation School Program" and the Texas state Legislature (Grusendorf, 2015, pg.2). These two groups play the most vital role in changing and implementing the new "state formulas" (Grusendorf, 2015, pg.3). Both will work together in creating and agreeing to the new state formulas. We will review the formulas every year and decide if funding is truly being distributed with equity. Only if they are not then will both organizations have to re–write the formulas to improve upon them. As governor of Texas, I believe that the public schools funding need to have more equity. In order to do that we need to change the state's formulas that decide how funding is distributed. Although some may not like the way their money is being distributed, the money is going towards a good cause. If we can fund schools in poverty just as much as those who are more wealthy, then we could improve our education system exponentially. Water Conservation In the state of Texas, we are constantly confronted with the issue of water shortages. In order to conserve our water supply, we must enact a policy that educates people on the best ways to conserve water during their daily lives. Monte Carlo simulation has become an essential tool in the pricing of derivative securities and in risk management; these applications have, in turn, stimulated research into new Monte Carlo techniques and renewed interest in some old techniques. This is also a book about financial engineering from the perspective of Monte Carlo methods. One of the best ways to develop an understanding of a model of, say, the term structure of interest rates is to implement a simulation of the model; and finding ways to improve the efficiency of a simulation motivates a deeper investigation into properties of a model. Students often come to a course in Monte Carlo with limited exposure to this material, and the implementation of a simulation becomes more meaningful if accompanied by an understanding of a model and its context. Moreover, it is precisely in model details that many of the most interesting simulation issues arise. If the first three chapters deal with running a simulation, the next three deal with ways of running it better. Chapter 4 presents methods for increasing precision by reducing the variance of Monte Carlo estimates. Chapter 5 discusses the application of deterministic quasi– Monte Carlo methods for numerical integration. Chapter 6 addresses the problem of discretization error that results from simulating discrete–time approximations to continuous–time models. The last three chapters address topics specific to the application of Monte Carlo methods in finance. Chapter 7 covers methods for estimating price sensitivities or "Greeks." Chapter 8 deals with the pricing of American options, which entails solving an optimal stopping problem within a simulation. Chapter 9 is an introduction to the use of Monte Carlo methods in risk management. It discusses the measurement of market risk and credit risk in financial portfolios. The most important arguments for what could determine capital structure is the pecking order theory and the static trade off theory. These two theories are reviewed, but neither of them provides a complete description of the situation and why some firms prefer equity and others debt under different circumstances. The theoretical models of capital structure in a world in which capital markets are not perfect relates capital structure to several measurable and nonmeasurable attributes of a firm. The irrelevance proposition provides conditions under which the capital structure of a firm is irrelevant to total firm value. Turning the irrelevance proposition around, the proposition also tells us which factors that may be the causes of corporate capital structure. The assumptions giving irrelevance as a result may cause relevance if they are broken. The question is, do they, and if so to what extent? And what if several imperfections exist simultaneously? Besides the irrelevance hypothesis of Modigliani and Miller there are several other theories relevant to capital structure. These are the asset substitution hypothesis, under–investment hypothesis, the free–cash flow hypothesis, the signaling hypothesis and product markets arguments. 3 .1. The negative effects of gifted education include funding issues for hiring teachers capable of teaching gifted students and allocation of funds. Again, movements such as NCLB have overlooked the population of gifted students. Since funding is in short supply for gifted education, reaching out to community leaders will help them gain an understanding of the needs of gifted children. This can help dispel the myth that "gifted children can make it on their own" (Roberts & Siegle, 2012). To save gifted education and serve gifted students, some schools are turning to the Schoolwide Cluster Grouping Model (SCGM). "When implemented well, the SCGM represents one viable solution for providing effective and consistent gifted services within certain budget restraints" (Brulles & Winebrenner, 2011, p. 35).
