The practices during the Lent period are a commemoration of Jesus Christ's fasting for 40 days and
40 nights in the desert before he began his ministry. The Bible tells how he resisted Satan's
temptations during that period, and this is the example that Christians are now trying to emulate as
they sacrifice certain habits or foods to practice self–restraint and build a closer relationship with

Race is not an issue. Police officers are people just like us and make mistakes. It's up to us, together,

within American society, and this time period became known as the Progressive Era. People
advocated for women's suffrage, temperance, rights for African Americans, better working

Nation, a temperance activist. Nation would pray, sing hymns, throw bricks, and attack bars with

After the Civil war in the late mid 1800's constitutional amendments were made to abolish slavery,
give former slaves citizenship and give the right to vote regardless of race. Even though these laws
were passed throughout the rest of the 1800's and 1900's segregation of race was a major part of the
lifestyle of southern states in America. From area that was built on slavery and use a human labor,
accepting change wasn't an easy task for southerners. It wasn't until 1964 that an actual Civil Rights
Act was passed to end segregation of public places and banned discrimination in employment on the
basis of race, color, religion or sex. With these laws being passed, the south still decided to live in
their own way and continued to oppress blacks. These ways of the south made way for one of our
most famous civil rights leaders Martin Luther King Jr. He fought to be a voice for blacks to be
treated as equal citizens in America, King lead many protest and gave people hope for equality in
America. One of Kings most important protest was his attempted to march the blacks of Selma,
Alabama to the capitol of Montgomery to register to vote. In his many attempts to march to

I was born and raised a Seventh–Day Adventist. As I was growing up I studied my denomination's
beliefs side by side with other common denominations. I have come to realize that despite the many
differences between the religions, there are also many similarities. One of the most common
religions that are compared against Adventism is Catholicism. Both religions actually share some
common beliefs. Most people only focus on the differences though. Regardless of the different
doctrines, Seventh–Day Adventists and Catholics have a strong connection because of their belief in

Similar to vital goods that were shipped with canals and the railroad, this Ice Cream Garden adapted

deliver a luxury confection like ice cream shows how in demand confections were. They were in
enough demand that people didn't need to travel to consume it, it would be brought to them on their

Purpose – When two 14–year–old New Zealand schoolgirls challenged the advertising claims of
Ribena blackcurrant drink – owned by global giant GlaxoSmithKline – they triggered a sequence of
events which led to prosecution, public opprobrium and international damage to an iconic brand.

Introduction: Ribena blackcurrant drink was launched in Britain in the 1930s and won lasting fame
during the Second World War as a source of vitamin C for British children denied fresh fruit such as
oranges. It subsequently became established as an iconic "healthy food" served by mothers in 22
other countries around the world[1] especially locations such as Australia and New Zealand with
strong post–war British migration. Today Ribena generates sales world wide of £169 million ($US
332 million) for manufacturer GlaxoSmithKline (GSK, 2006). In 2004, two New Zealand teenagers
testing the vitamin C content of various fruit drinks for a high–school chemistry project found that
the pre–diluted ready–to–drink (RTD) variety of Ribena did not contain four times the vitamin C of
oranges, as implied in advertising. After the students failed to secure a satisfactory response from
GSK, their complaint went to a popular television consumer programme and eventually to the
Auckland District Court. In March 2007, the company pleaded guilty to 15 representative charges
and was ﬁned $NZ 227,500 (£81,750 or $US 163,400) for the misleading television commercials

Who said that space travel was only for the US and Russia? To that, I say HA. There were probably
over 24 countries in the Great Space Race, but we made it to the moon first. The one space agency
that was most interesting to me was JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency). "The challenge
–– including transporting the components to space –– may appear gigantic, but Japan has been
pursuing the project since 1998, with some 130 researchers studying it under JAXA's oversight".

Preacher Argumentative Analysis
The new television show "Preacher" has earned backlash from Christian leaders over its depiction of
religion in a violent light.
When "Preacher" aired on Lightbox, its audience witnessed a show which depicts God as a villain
and preacher Justin Custer, portrayed by Dominic Cooper, as a chain–smoker who aims to trump
God on his heavenly throne. After watching the show's trailer, Baptist pastor Brian Winslade said the
story is a "silly counterfeit" of the true version of Christianity and spirituality, the Sunday Star Times
relays.
However, Pastor Winslade also has some good words for "Preacher." He said the controversial TV
show presents no threat to either the Christian faith of the church because it could prompt people to
take a step forward
