2. How I created my image I covered a ball in newspaper then photographed it to give me the base of my image. I then opened this in GIMP (a photo editing programme) to delete its surrounding back ground making it transparent making it look more like a globe. I did this simply by using the circle cut out tool.
3. How I created my image I then went on the inter net to get a photo of a real globe to use as a template to edit on the continents. I then made this the same size as my image and set it as a separate layer.
4. How I created my image After that i used the ‘Scissor select tool’ i used this as you simply click around the edge and it creates the line along the line of the image.
5. How I created my image Next I put my cursor inside the section which I had selected then pressed enter, this turns the section into a selection rather than a cut out.
6. How I created my image Next I made my second layer invisible by making the eye just on my photograph. This shows the selection of the continents from the globe onto my photo,
7. How I created my image Finally I played about with different ways to colour in the section of the continents, firstly I desaturated the selection making it black and white, however I felt that this didn’t stand out enough. Next I used the ‘Colourify’ tool, I thought that this tool was much more effective in creating a bolder yet still slightly transparent colouring so that the newspaper could still be seen. I then tried out a few different colours such as green and some shades of grey. I then flattened my image and saved it as a jpeg.
