2. India's Leading Women in Business
• Women are the most adored and the beautiful
creation on this planet. They play the role of a
mother, sister, wife and much more. Without women,
the universe is incomplete.
In Indian culture, a woman plays the role of a care-taker
as well as the protector of the family. Their role
is no more limited within the four walls of the house-hold
activities. Today’s women have proved that they
can also be the leaders in the corporate world.

3. 1. Roshini Nadar
CEO and Executive Director, HCL Corp.
She is the only daughter of business tycoon
Shiv Nadar, the founder of the ‘HCL Corp.’.
Having the blood of one of the successful
industrialists, Roshni Nadar’s destiny lies in
the corporate world.
She did her graduation from Northwestern
University. She holds a Major in radio,
television and film. She holds an MBA in
Social Enterprise Management and Strategy
from the Kellogg School of Management.
She is currently the CEO and the Executive
Director of the HCL Corp. She is also one of
the trustees of the ‘Shiv Nadar Foundation’
which is involved with the ‘Sri
Sivasubramaniya Nadar College of
Engineering’ in Chennai.

4. 2. Chanda Kochhar
MD and CEO, ICICI Bank
Born on November 17, 1961 on Jaipur
(Rajasthan), Chanda Kochhar did her
schooling in Jaipur. She completed her
graduation in 1982 in Arts from ‘Jai Hind
College’ in Mumbai. After graduation, she
completed her masters in Management
studies from Jamanlal Bajaj Institute of
Management Studies.
She is currently the CEO and the Managing
Director of India’s largest private bank, ICICI
Bank. She is one of the leading leaders in
India Inc. She represented India Inc. in the
recent Davos Meet of the World Economic
Forum.

5. 3. Kiran Mazumdar Shaw
Chairman & Managing Director, Biocon
Born in the IT hub of India, Bangalore on March 23,
1953, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw is the current Chairman
and Managing Director of Biocon.
Despite the wish to have a career in Medical field,
she completed her graduation with honours in
Zoology. She completed her master’s from Ballarat
College, Melbourne University (1975) in Malting and
Brewing.
She started Biocon in 1978 and today she is
considered to be one of the most influential women
in India. Her achievement list is never ending. It
includes ‘Padma Shri’ (1989), ‘Padma Bhushan’
(2005), one of the influential persons in the world
(Times Magazine), member of IIT (Hyderabad) and
many more.

6. 4. Ekta Kapoor
Joint Managing Director and Creative Director,
Balaji Telefilms
Jeetendra ruled millions of hearts in the Indian
Cinema. His wife, Shobha Kapoor is one of the
prominent names in the Indian Television. Well,
being the only daughter ofJeetendra and Shobha
Kapoor doesn’t complete the introduction of Ekta
Kapoor.
Today, Ekta Kapoor is considered to be the queen
of the Indian Television. Even in the Film
Industry, she has proved herself as one of the
successful ladies.
Born on June 7, 1975, she is currently the Joint
Director and the Creative Director of ‘Balaji
Telefilms’. She is one of the most popular faces in
the Indian Television today. She made the
television lovers to go gaga with most of her
productions.

7. 5. Shobhana Bhartia
Chairperson and Editorial Director, Hindustan
Times Group
Shobhana Bhartia was born in Kolkata. She is the
daughter of the founder of the Hindustan Times
Group, KK Birla. She is the current Chairperson and
the Editorial Director of the Hindustan Times
Group. Hindustan Times Group is her ancestral
treasure.
Apart from serving the Rajya Sabha as a nominated
member 2006-2012 she is also the Pro Chancellor
of ‘Birla Institute of Technology and Science’,
Pilani.
She was the recipient of the ‘Global Leader of
Tomorrow’ awards from the World Economic
Forum in 1996. She received the ‘Outstanding
Business Woman of the Year’ award in 2001 and

Founder-Chairperson, Dhirubhai Ambani
International School
She is the eldest daughter-in-law of the most
admired business tycoon of India and is the wife
of the richest person in India.
Nita Ambani, born on November 1, 1963 is the
Founder-Chairperson of the Dhirubhai Ambani
International School. She is the co-owner of the
‘Mumbai Indians’ cricket team. She is also
actively involved in ‘Project Drishti’.
Nita Ambani, is a commerce graduate from
‘Narsee Monjee College of Commerce &
Economics’. Awards like ‘Samaj Seva Vishwa
Bhushan’ (2005), 'Corporate Citizen of the Year’
(2012) completes the list of her achievements.

Managing Partner, AZB & Partners
Zia Mody holds a masters degree from
Harvard Law School. She is one of the
prominent legal consultants in India. She
is considered an authority on corporate
merger and acquisition law, securities
law, private equity and project finance.
Mody is married to business tycoon
Jaydev Mody. She was enlisted as one of
the 25 most powerful business women in
India by Business Today during 2004-2011.
She has the ‘Financial Express Knowledge
Professional of the Year’ Award. During
2004-2006, she was named one of India's
100 Most Powerful CEOs by The Economic
Times.

10. 8. Aruna Jayanthi
CEO, Capgemini
Aruna Jayathi made her debut in the
corporate world through TCS. She served
TCS for 10 years. At present, she is the CEO
of one of the leading French IT companies,
Capgemini.
She completed her studies from ‘Narsee
Monje Institute of Management Studies’.
She joined Capgemini in 2000.
In the year 2012, Fortune Magazine ranked
Aruna Jayanthi as the third most powerful
business women in India. She is considered
to be the sole reason for most of the
success of Capgemini in the Indian IT
sector.

11. 9. Vinita Bali
Managing Director, Britannia Industries
She started her career with Voltas and
worked on the launch of the soft drink
brand Rasna. She was also related with
Cadbury for more than 10 years and
with the Coca-Cola for 9 years.
In 2005, Vinita Bali joined Britannia
Industries and is currently the Managing
Director. It was under her leadership
that Britannia’s annual revenue got
tripled to $841 million.
She received the ‘Business Woman of
the Year’ in 2009. Her name appeared
on the Forbes’ list of ‘Asia’s 50 Power
Businesswomen’ in 2011.

Managing Director and CEO, Axis
Bank
Shikha Sharma is one of the simplest
CEO’s in India. She wears no make-up
except a traditional Indian ‘bindi’.
After she completed her management
studies form ‘Indian Institute of
Management’, Ahmedabad, she failed
to get selected for any foreign banks.
She started her career with ICICI Bank
in 1980.
She is serving Axis Bank as the CEO
and the Managing Director since June
2009.
