As well as Kerrang, Bauer Media Group also publishes the mainstream Q
magazine. Their target audience for these magazines primarily revolves
around rock music enthusiasts. Q magazine could be referred to as
hybridized; it features not only heavy metal rock music, but also features
indie/alternative music much more so than in Kerrang!, which is centered
wholly around rock and heavy metal.
The Bauer Media Group not only targets the music scene, but wider audiences
too. In total, Bauer publishes over 300 different magazines worldwide. 1987
saw their first UK based venture into magazine publishing with Bella, a
magazine targetting the topics typically seen in women’s magazines such as
fashion and beauty, cookery and practical home features. The Bauer Media
Group also publishes a number of TV listing magazines such as
TVQuick, TVChoice and Total TVGuide. The audience for their vast range of
magazines varies considerably. Well-known magazines published by Bauer
include EMPIRE – a magazine targeted at Film enthusiasts,
