Fishing Is Fishing
Fishing had never been a hobby until I considered until this past summer. Fishing has an importance that goes way back since my great grandpa
back in Mexico. My great grandpa used to take my father fishing to a nearby lake near their home where they would spend hours fishing for that
night's dinner. As a kid, I remember my family would take trips to the lake or rivers to have a family gathering and acarne asada. This is where my
uncles and grandpa would fish, but at the time playing soccer with my cousins was more exciting. When I turned 13, my grandpa invited me to go
fishing to Lake Buena Vista that Saturday morning. I immediately thought "tedious" but decided to open up and try a new activity and at the end
of the day, I would have a story to tell my friends. Once at the lake, I asked my grandpa, "What is so cool about fishing" and he responded, "It's not
about catching fish, it is about relaxing and being away from everything and enjoying nature. Anyone can go to the market to buy a fish, but can
they have the patience to battle one and reel it in?". As the day progressed we caught a couple of catfish which my grandpa took home and made
soup with. Although that day I enjoyed myself I also found out fishing was not my hobby. Fishing is for those who have patience and don't dread
being in the sun all day. Flash forwarding to this past summer, my friend Froilan wanted to go fishing after he saw some YouTube videos about
fishing. After he told me we should go fishing to do

The Joys of Fishing Essay
Fishing is an activity I have enjoyed doing ever since I was a little kid. In fact, one of my first fishing voyages was with my grandpa when I was
about eight years old. He was an avid fisherman who went fishing almost every day and knew everything there was to know about fishing. Grandpa
got me hooked on fishing. After Grandpa died, my dad picked up where Grandpa left off. We had a pontoon, and Dad took my brothers and me
fishing whenever we had the chance. To this day, I still love fishing just as much as I had on my first fishing trip with my grandpa. Many people enjoy
hobbies that are relaxing and peaceful, and others prefer exhilarating activities that never have a dull moment. I enjoy fishing because it has some of
both. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The excitement begins to rise as the first cast draws nearer. The motor is prepared for take–off and the key is placed in the ignition. The engine turns
over and the huge motor roars. The sleek boat accelerates rapidly and speeds toward the first fishing spot of the day. In a matter of minutes, the
powerful boat glides into the fishing spot. The anticipation of catching a fish becomes almost unbearable. The fishing poles are grabbed quickly out
of the rod lockers, and lures are tied onto the end of the fishing line. Moments later, the sound of a lure splashing into the water can be heard from
the boat. The real adventure has just begun. Fishing has been around a long time and has been evolving over the years. In fact, the first known
fishermen were from the Stone Age. They used materials that were available to them to catch fish and put food on the table for their families.
Succeeding the Stone Age however, fishing has slowly begun to transform into more of a sport than a method of providing food. National Geographic
states, "It wasn't until the 15th century that fishing began its evolution into a sport. Previously, fishing was simply a means for survival." Fishing has
changed so immensely that it has become a competitive sport. Fishermen all over the world angle competitively against each other in huge
tournaments for a living. These professional fishermen are awarded millions of dollars to angle out of expensive boats that their sponsors pays for.

The Rise Of The Fishing Industry
Before the rise of the fishing industry in the 1950's Newfoundland and Labrador struggled with an unstable economy and many citizens found
themselves living in poverty. Initially on shore methods had minimal impact on the environment and fish population, as in–shore fishermen followed a
strict season and fished only during the summer leaving the population to migrate in the fall. As technology advanced steam boats made off shore
fishing possible, this allowed draggers to fish in massive quantities regardless of the season. At first this was very promising to the Canadian
government and the Fishery Products International Company (FPI) as they saw huge profits, and the opportunity to create jobs for fisherman and factory
workers alike. However, with continued offshore fishing the inshore fisherman saw significant depletion in the fish population, specifically cod. It took
far too long for the government to realize the severity of the issue and when they did it was too late. In 1992 the government announced a complete
ban of cod fishing. This resulted in the loss of 19000 jobs, and all profit coming from this industry throwing many small fishing towns in Newfoundland
back into poverty.
All stakeholders felt the effects of the ban; the External Stakeholders FPI explains why they supplied the boats to major corporations and over
exaggerated the cod population and Internal Stakeholders consisted of the independent fishermen and their families and how they were affected. Factory

Bycatch Fishing
One of the biggest contributions to biodiversity loss is over fishing which is employed by fishery's. the methods and techniques used include bottom
trawling, net, and poisoning in order to catch large sums of fish. Because of these tactics used the biggest problem is Bycatch which are unwanted
species that are caught in the nets on accident. To rectify this problem Ward et. Al suggests "Using a single
– species approach, the fishing gear is
modified to eliminate the harvest of incidentally caught fish species."(ward et al. 2012). By modifying fishing gear, species like dolphins, sea turtles,
and fish would be able to escape the nets and reduce the amount of Bycatch. Through sustainable practices biodiversity loss can be stopped, in a perfect

Personal Narrative On Fishing
Beep, Beep, I reached over and hit my alarm clock until it shut off. It was only 6 o'clock in the morning and I was already getting up. I was going
fishing with my Dad, Pepe and one of his friends, Harold. We were going to Milford lake which is about 45 minutes away. My dad told me that they
never have any luck at all when they go fishing, and something bad always happens, and we were wishing that nothing would happen this time either.
Pepe was running late and the morning was not starting the way we wanted it to be. It took us a while to get everything packed and the boat hooked
up to the truck. By the time we got everything together and packed it was almost 7:30. We were off to go pick up Harold and we waited outside for

off and into the water. We were the only people who were on the water it seemed, they were all smarter than us. By the time we drove the boat to the
spot that we wanted to go the clouds had gotten even heavier and the wind had picked up another fifty mph it seemed like. We got our poles baited up

Carp Fishing Tips
Whats the alternative to lead weights?
In this article I would like to talk about some different ways of getting more out of your carp fishing. Recently I have started to do a few things
differently and I think it is making a difference.
Firstly the length of hooklink. Over the last few years articles have talked about using shorter hooklinks but I don't see many people using them, I'm
talking about very short 21/2 – 3inches. I reckon some anglers are not keen on this because your bait is sitting very close to the lead, but your bait is
not always the length of your hooklink away from the bait anyway, lots of times when you've cast the bait follows the lead down and could be sitting
right next to the lead unless when you tighten up you move the lead! If you don't like your bait very close to the lead why is that?, is it because you think
carp can recognise danger when they see the lead! I reckon on well fished waters carp are cautious of leads that's why I've starting using the 'Stonze'. ...

All the anglers fished the same lake and used the 'Stonze' system with the very short hooklinks and used the method with Pallatrax boilies. Over 48
hours 984lb of carp were caught plus tench and roach.
Images curtesy of Brian Atkins 2003©
I noticed that directly you cast out you would get small fish attacking the method and would get bleeps and knocks until the bigger fish moved in
and you would get a run. If we had all used 3oz leads and 10 inch hooklinks I'm convinced we wouldn't have caught so many fish. If you use long
hooklinks carp can pick up your bait and move twice the distance of your hooklink before they tighten to the lead.

to offer. Texas crappie fishing is always at its best no matter what else changes. For example, many anglers worry about the quality of some of thefish
species changing throughout the years such as the largemouth bass but the crappie always appear to stay the same no matter what else changes.

Not only do they grow very large in this water but they are also plentiful. Early spring is the best time of year to fish for crappie and they will be
found in the creek channels with water ranging around ten to fifteen feet deep. However, during the summer they will move out to the main part of the
lake around bridges, brushpiles, stumps, coves, points, wood and other structures in the water.
Tips and Information for Catching Crappie in Texas
Crappie fishing is rather easy, which is why it is great for anglers of all skill levels. The main thing that you need to keep in mind is that to have the
most success you need to find the right depth where the crappie is located. Once you know the right depth you can have a lot of success reeling in the
fish.
One technique used to determine the depth of the crappie is called the crocheting. To use this method you drop the bait to the bottom and let it set for
a few minutes. Next you start reeling in the line slowly until you feel the crappie strike the bait. This is the depth where you need to fish. Timing your
drops is another method of learning how deep the crappies are

Agritourism Activity – Fishing Pond
Introduction
The idea of agritourism urges guests to experience agricultural life at first hand. Agritourism is gathering strong backing from little groups as rural
people have realised the advantages of sustainable development achieved by similar types of nature travel. Visitors have the chance to work in the
fields alongside real farmers and wade knee–somewhere down in the ocean with fisherman pulling in their nets. Agritourism incorporates a wide
assortment of activities, including including buying produce direct from a farm stand, staying on a farm, fishing pond etc. A fishlake, or fishpond, is a

wholesaling. It is a controlled lake, artificial lake, or reservoir that is stocked with fish and is utilized in aquaculture for fish farming, or is utilized for
recreational fishing or for ornamental purposes.
History and Origin of Fishing Pond
During the winter, supplying fresh food for a castle garrison was a constant struggle. Though meat would be available from deer parks, this couldn't
supply the necessities of the entire family. A fish pond gave an elegant solution. As long as there was a natural flow of water into the pond, fish
required no feeding and were accessible available all year round. There would usually be a series of ponds, with fish being moved between them as
they grew.
How to Conduct this Activity (Fishing Pond)?

Persuasive Fishing Outline
Introduction
With fishing industries advancing dramatically, fishing gear now consists of equipment such as large nets and hooks to capture aquatic species at a
much faster rate. But with such a large amount of fish being captured daily and many more being thrown away, we are reducing food supply.
Thesis Statement: Advance in technology and fishing methods have made it easier to catch large amounts of fish in a short amount of time; resulting in
endangering fish species, reduce reproduction rate, harm fish habitats, and reduce food supply for the future. II. Background Paragraph
For centuries we have relied on fishing as a means for food. Over the years we have developed new methods of fishing and have enhanced our
equipment to capture vast amounts of fish in a minimum amount of time. We now have industrial fishing companies that provide for ourseafood
demand. As we continue to capture large amounts of fish we begin to shorten supply for the future, reduce reproduction rates, disrupt food chains, harm
habitats, and drive species to extinction.
III. Paragraph I
Overfishing has been a major threat to ocean inhabitants. Fishing industries use harsh methods to fish that unintentionally harm habitats or catch and
kill fish that are untargeted. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many species, including those who are endangered, are often caught and thrown back, often they are dead (Slowfood). Up to 90% of the total catch

(Slowfood). The larger nets have large enough mouths to scrape the sea floor, sometimes leaving permanent scars that can reach up to four kilometer
long (Slowfood). Bottom trawling sometimes realises sediments that are toxic, creating turbid water, making it insufficient to sustain life

Compare And Contrast Ice Fishing And Summer Fishing
Ice Fishing or Summer Fishing Fishing is an extremely fun thing to do. The objective of fishing is to outsmart a fish by catching it using a bait.
People have been fishing for thousands, upon thousands, of years. It can be something somebody does for fun, or for food. Regardless, it is a fun thing
to undergo. However, which is better, fishing in the summer or fishing in the winter? There are lots of different baits that can be used while summer
fishing. Fish can be caught differently during this time. One way to catch fish is by casting and reeling. When using this method, you cast a lure
into the desired spot and real it in, hoping to catch a fish in the process. Another way to catch fish is by using a bobber. When bobber fishing, you
put live bait or fake bait onto a hook and cast your line into spot where you are likely to catch something. The bobber will keep the hook, and bait
suspended in the water. That way when a fish ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fishing when the weather is warm can be very fun. It is also quite comfortable. Most of the time, shorts and a T–shirt is all one needs to wear in
summer. Even fishing at night, in the summer months, is warm. A glorious thing about going fishing when it's warm is that if it gets too hot,
there is always the opportunity of jumping in the water to cool off. Ice fishing is done in the colder months of the year when all the lakes and
rivers are frozen over. Ice fishing is done by drilling, or chiseling your way through ice until you reach water. Once water is reached, you drop a
desired bait down the hole and wait. Hopefully you pick a good spot, because when ice fishing, every time you want to move spots the same process
has to be repeated. It can be quite the hassle, drilling through ice, especially when there is a lot of it. There is a perk however, when ice fishing, it is
legal to have two lines down instead of the usual one line, during open water/summer

Fishing for Trouble Essay
In 1999 near the Galapagos Islands, Rob Stewart, 22, an underwater photographer and filmmaker, was driving when he discovered something that
changed his life forever. It was a long line fishing rig hung with hundreds of dead sharks on a single fishing line that Stewart explained had the
potential to reach from Earth to space. This fishing line is known by conservationists as a "curtain of death" (Kielburger). Overfishing is the fishing of
a species at levels too high for the species to reproduce. This can greatly reduce fish population and drive species toward extinction. Fishing has

When fish populations are low in one area, fishing boats will need to move to another area where fish are more abundant. This renders oceans and
their sea life helpless and severely damaged until all of the fish in the oceans are completely gone. That is why governments need laws establishing
the length of time a person could spend at sea fishing, in order to reduce overfishing and increase recovery of fish populations. One example of a fish
population suffering from overfishing is the Pacific bluefin tuna. "Overfishing has left the world with less than five percent of its Pacific Bluefin tuna,
says the Pew Environment Group" (Kowalski). This statement explains to the world how overfishing can drastically decrease a species' population in
an extraordinarily short time period. The Pacific bluefin tuna and other fish are very much stressed by overfishing, and suffer severe losses of
population every day. Moreover, overfishing will soon lead to the extinction of fish species like the Pacific bluefin tuna. The European Commission
even admits that the "EU's [European Union] stocks are 88% overfished" ("An Icelandic Success"). This reveals Europe's failure to prevent overfishing
from spreading throughout the continent and beyond its borders. The majority of Europe's fish supply undergoes the harmful effects that overfishing
brings. Additionally, the fish

A bag limit is the number of fish a person could take of an individual species of fish. Some of the major variables that scientist look for is the
anatomy of the fish, human intervention and pressure of the individual fish species, and climate. Every single species of fish is different. Baitfish
are meant to be consumed by predator fish therefore they are plentiful and usually in abundance so there are no bag limits. Even the color of the
fish is important. Red Snapper is in abundance because they are Red. In the fish eye spectrum red is invisible so these fish are plentiful so the
government does not have to put strict regulations. Offspring is also very important some fish lay thousands of eggs because in reality not many
will survive, but bigger fish will lay less numbered fish because the chance of survival is much higher for these fish species. Math is all around
these subjects because scientist collects data and numbers from oceans to predict and examine a bag limit. There is also statistics in bag limits
because scientist have to go out collect data on the fish and as well as the people. For example the popularity of the fish correlates directly to the
number of offspring a fish produce. If a fish produces a lot of off spring and there's no demand for the fish then no bag limits should be placed, vice
versa. In the fishing word everything is a numbers game because numbers don't

The Potention Of The Fishing Industry
following the implementation of the discard ban in 2015 and other commitments made by the EU to sustain fish stocks. Many are optimistic about
these reforms, while others are cautious since the CFP has a reputation for sounding brilliant and proving to be catastrophic in the long–run.
Rather than trying to fix a fault–ridden system where the interests of Member States involve the short–term goals of mainly their own fishing industry, it
may be more beneficial for the EU to implement a system of control like that of Iceland or Norway. Although these nations have agreements with the

The fishing industries of Norway, Iceland and Greenland are thriving, despite having very little to no comparative advantage over the UK. The UK has
acknowledged that the decline in fish stocks has not resulted from any economic or environmental issues, but rather from political issues of
mismanagement. Thus, the decline of UK fish stocks can be directly associated with its membership in the EU and the Common Fisheries Policy.
Brexit would restore the UK
governments control over the industry, enabling them to enforce better, more effective conservation measures and to regenerate not only fish stocks
but the infrastructure of the fishing industry as a whole.
Another solution to the problem of overfishing and the decline of fish stocks was proposed by Ronald Coase and his ideas on property rights and the
political economy of environmental protection. Coase sets out that not only do negative externalities not exist, but that the specification of private
property rights is the most efficient way to tackle environmental issues, such as overfishing. The analysis points out that –
"where private property arrangements have been allowed to emerge, there have been considerable improvements in terms of the maintenance of fish
stocks and the reduction of pollution. In Britain, for example, private fishing rights to rivers are widespread

Fishing
Everyone loves spending their time at the lake on a good summer evening with friends and family, whether they're having a camp fire and just circling
it, cracking jokes, or fishing. People fish for a various of reasons, some may eat the fish (hey, basically free food!), just simply toss the fish back into
the body of water which they got it from, or even just fish for the sake of it, and let the fishes die because of them being forgotten about. Whatever
you're reasoning for fishing is, there is always going to be a bad side to it, even if your intentions are not to do so. There are number of reasons why
people fish, reasons such as enjoying the feeling of catching huge fish, enjoying the scenery of the sunset, getting some relax time to themselves,
getting to hang out with friends, competing with friends about who gets more fish or the bigger fish, and for survival (if you already have your
license, and need something for dinner, there you are !). However, No one has really has put thought into how fishing may affect the environment of
that body of water. Let's talk about what really goes on in ponds/lakes. Most large bodies of water here in Kansas consist of largemouth bass, blue gill,
and channel catfish. These fishes all spawn when the water gets warm, so during spring or early summer, for the bass; 60–70 degrees, and for the
catfish. 70–75 degrees. When these eggs are laid, the father fish protects the eggs and makes sure nothing happens to them. Lets say someone
decides to go fishing at the time the father is protecting the eggs, the male fish will see the hook as a threat to the eggs and attack it. There you go,
you got a catch! But do you really know what that means? Because you have caught the male fish, who's there to protect the eggs? The amount of
eggs laid by these types of fish can be up to 500. There's a specific reason why it's the male protecting the egg and not the woman, the male is
stronger and can protect the eggs from being eaten and can keep them warm better. Any who, because you caught the male protector, the eggs will all
die because they will be exposed to the cold lake. That's 501 fish you costs the pond although you only

Fishing Restrictions And How They Impact The American...

Aquaculture in the United States
Undoubtedly, the nation is falling into an inordinate fish crisis. Many systems are in practice to contribute to feedings the world's population, and
roughly one–third of this responsibility falls in the hands aquatic fish farming. Aquaculture holds the potential to be a highly sustainable way to solve
this problem, yet, there is much hesitance in making his decision facing the future of our nation (White). In the Struggle to Govern of The Commons,
the protection of fisheries, and problems associated with pollution crossing national borders is specifically discussed (Dietz). With these corresponding
ideas, I found my way into researching fishing restrictions and how they impact the American fishing industry. The United States holds a six–percent
share in global trade, and also persists as the sixth largest supplier of fish and seafood products in the world market. ("U.S. Fish and Seafood Exports
Reach Record Levels.") This industry is growing at a significant rate; therefore, it is vital to monitor what is occurring in this business and how it
affects other aspects of American life and culture.
Further inside fishing commerce, Thomas Dietz, Elinor Ostrom, and Paul Stern came together from their distinctive proficiencies of sociology and the
environment, economics, and the academics of science in order to offer an 80% decline rate in the world 's largest predatory fishes, due to threats from

Commercial Fishing Is Bad
Commercial Fishing has always been a means of making a lucrative living. So much so, that is one of the reasons that concerns have risen today. With
the increase in the number of commercial fisherman within the U.S., it requires more fish to be fished from the seas. Over the years, changes in the fish
stock population has become a serious concern. Commercial Fishing is also destroying our sea beds and marine life that lives on the sea floor of the
oceans. Many times, the threats to marine life due to commercial fishing are not detected until the marine life has suffered a significant decline in
numbers. Unless other practices are put in place, the impacts of regular fishing spots, bottom trawling and pollution will have a catastrophic ... Show

They are also a food source for mammals on land, such as otters, birds, and bears. The food chain starts with plant life and then continues up. Some
animals are never considered ocean prey, so they are referred to as being at the top of the food chain. Animals that are a part of this food chain depend
on each other to survive.
Another tremendous impact on aquatic life is water pollution from fishing boats. Oil spills from vessels and trawlers can affect the water greatly. An
oil spill can affect the entire surrounding environment. When an oil spill occurs, oil gets trapped in the sediment on the ocean floor. This oil can
maintain on the ocean floor for longer periods of time than within the waters. Anything that feeds within the sediment would then be affected by the

When I was younger, I believed fishing was all about having luck and I fished the same way every day, spending nearly seven hours a week hoping
that eventually I'd hook into that big bass I dreamed of. As I grew older and gained experience, I learned that fishing wasn't based on luck at all and
instead by skill and technique. I started focusing on how the fish behaved on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These swimbaits were bigger than many of the fish I was catching and it seemed silly that a bass would even bite it. However, I learned from
experience I should never judge something before putting it to the test and it wouldn't hurt to give these "big swimbaits" a chance. I ended up
buying a six inch swimbait and dedicated a full day to using it. I almost gave up after using it for a few hours with no results, but I stuck with my
plan. On my final cast, I felt a slight "tick" as I was reeling it in. I set the hook and suddenly I had the biggest bass of my life on the line. The bass
fought hard, almost tipping my kayak, but finally I brought it in close and grabbed it. In my hands, was that elusive five pound bass from straight
out of my dreams! At last, all the time, work, and dedication paid off. I was hollering at the top of my lungs in joy. The best part of the catch was
putting her back in the water knowing that one day she would be even bigger.
After years of perseverance, my dream came true and I experienced a catch I would never forget. Then I asked myself, "What next?". Without
hesitation I decided to continue using everything I learned to catch an even bigger bass. Today I am still working on hooking that bass and there is no
doubt in my mind that as I keep learning and being persistent, I will accomplish my new

Four years and we finally have something on the line. Is the nonlinear structure working? On superbowl sunday in the year 2015 my Dad,Jim Brown
and I were going to go fishing for steelhead on the river again. The first year we had ever started fishing for steelhead my dad caught a small native
steelhead which he had to let go and had hooked a much larger steelhead that threw the hook that same day. Though after that, year after year we
hadn't had any luck and today didn't feel any different we were going to go down to the river and fish and fish and we would come home empty handed

We started out upstream. The water dripping from the lichen glistened like little drops of the sun. The mist from the river lifted our spirits and got
us ready to fish. This time I was ready for a new type of lure. I ended up pulling out a bass crankbait that looked like a fry salmon and thought "that
should catch something". We fished for hours again with no luck. The water was extremely clear, I figured that if there was any fish we would be
able to see them. We had time to kill though, we figured that we could keep trying for a little while longer. As the water seeped into my boots( that
I forgot to seal with shoe wax),we moved downstream a little bit. I could tell that I had come and walked right next to a perfect place for steelhead
to rest on their journey to spawn. I grabbed the line with one finger unclipped the bail and let a lure find his wings. It flew to the other side of the
river and I brought it right under the the rocks that I was close to. I reeled the lure closer to me and just stopped coming, whatever it was hooked on

Essay On Shark Fishing
Jesse Delevan, Sami Orderman and Jonathan Benar, along with other colleagues set out in a 60 feet fiberglass boat, on a six–day shark–fishing trip,
early on 11 June 5050 from the port of Maca Maca, Ghad. After razzing and placing their shark–fishing equipment, they celebrated and prepared for the
enormous catch that was coming in the following day. The following day they returned to where they thought they had left the rigging, but it was
vanished. They spent the next couple of hours and all their fuel looking for the affluent equipment. By the time they had run out of gasoline, they were

Fishing In Canada Essay
With seafood companies crewing large trawlers with new offshore fishermen, who allegedly took up a majority of cod, catches of the fish for inshore
fisherman significantly dropped as limited amounts of cod were able migrate inshore to spawn. Such an effect on inshore fishermen was further
exacerbated by the Canadian government's nonchalant dismissal of the fishermen's concerns since the government's investments and interests in offshore
fishing. Cabot Martin and the Inshore Fisheries Association sued the Canadian government because of increasing indifference from the government
regarding inshore fishing concerns, the prospect of an injunction against bottom trawling on the basis that government agencies were not abiding by
environmental assessments. In the end, the Canadian government won with the court ruling against the injunction due to its potential negative effects on

George Rose was not optimistic about a resurgence of cod in Canada because he does not believe that politically the country would withstand from
fishing in the sufficient amount of time it would take for the cod population to restore its previous number. Simply, he did not believe that the country
can maintain a moratorium due to perceived pressure to fish cod. Releasing farmed cod into the wild is potentially problematic because they do not
possess characteristics that would favor their survival in nature. Instead farm cod had detrimental features, such not being disease resistant, limited
hunting and predatory avoidance as well as water temperature detection that would signal movement to inshore areas for spawn. All of which are
features that would have been advantageous for fish farm survival, but would ultimately devastating for survival in

International problem: Over fishing
Fishing once thought of as a leisure activity is now causing serious issues on the marine environment. Fishing, when taken to the extreme can cause
species to deplete in numbers and over turn the natural food chain. Many people are involved in over fishing all over the world. The reasons they
take part in the practise are also altering. However many of the fisherman are from poorer countries and they see it as, the more fish they return home
with the more they will be paid. There have been many measures introduced to help prevent over fishing occurring although we could do more. Over

The Sport Of Fishing
When it comes to the sport of fishing, many people hold the venture in high regard. Fishing is something that many people around the world enjoy, and
is even used as bonding time between friends and family. However, like many great activities there are various particular facets that fishing is
composed of. Topics such as the history, general information, andfishing techniques will be discussed. If fishing is something that interests you, there
are essentials that you want to know.
History of Fishing
The history of fishing goes back centuries before our current time. Also known as angling, it is a sport that revolves around catching fish in various
water environments such as freshwater or saltwater. Afishing rod, hook, and line is used along with bait to lure fish for either fun or sport. There
have been records that show fishing goes around 2000 BC in Egypt, and there has been further evidence that show Chinese usage of fishing lines
around the 4th century BC. There are continued records that show ancient civilizations such as the Greeks, Jews, Assyrians, and Romans used such
an endeavor. However, the earlier records show that their fishing rods and lines were more archaic in design. For example, the Chinese used a
bamboo rod, a silk line, and a hook that was crafted from a needle. The bait they used was cooked rice to lure different kinds of fish. The difficulties
of fishing still remain, but to a lesser extent. Some of these precarious problems include location,

Why Do Fishing Companies Have Off Limits To Fishing
One of the most practical ways is to set up regulations that are enforced and therefore followed. Fishing companies should have a limit as to how
many fish can be caught, and the fish stocks should also be given adequate time to grow. This would help them recover. If we regulated how much fish
could be caught, it would give the fish time to recover and become numerous once again. The regulations should be reasonable and not as outrageous
as that fishermen can't fish, but laws that truly help the fish prosper. Another way would be to have certain zones in the ocean that are specifically off
limits to fishing. If we made these zones unreachable for at least a few years, they should be phenomenally full of fish by the time we're ready to

Competitive Bass Fishing
How did Bass fishing become a sport?
Fishing has always been a way to collect food, but did you know how it became a competitive sport? It all started with a game of basketball. I am sure
you are thinking to yourself; a game of basketball is how fishing tournaments came about?
It all started with a man by the name of Ray Scott in 1968. While watching a basketball game he thought of the idea of competitive Bass fishing. He
than began to brainstorm ideas and write down the rules of fishing tournaments. Later that year, he held the first All–American Bass Tournament. After
that tournament, competitive Bass fishing took off like a 10–pound Bass taking away your fishing pole.
Fishing Tournaments
There are many different types of tournaments that one can fish in. It all depends on the type of tournament that the angler enters. There are local
tournaments, just–for–fun tournaments, and professional tournaments that include Bassmaster and Fishing League Worldwide (FLW).... Show more

There are many different levels of Bassmaster tournaments that an angler can enter. These tournaments include: Team Championship, High School,
College Series, B.A.S.S Nation Series, Opens, Elite Series, and Classic.
The one that is most talked about, and almost every angler and co–anger's dream, is the Bassmaster's Classic tournament. In order to be an angler in
this tournament, you must be considered a professional angler. Like many of the well–known anglers, they did not get to the Classic overnight. They
needed a great amount of practice, such as fishing in other tournaments, and patience to get in to a spot as an angler in the Bassmaster's Classic.
Winning these tournaments can cause for the angler to earn a lot of money and recognition as one of the greatest in the Bass fishing

Freshwater Fishing Bait V.S. Saltwater Fishing Bait
By:Emily Gudeman
Freshwater Fishing has some differences and has some of the same things. Freshwater fishing can be easier than saltwater fishing. Some things might
be wierd or some things might be not so weird. Also, some things might be used for fish that you didn't think would. Now read saltwater and freshwater
fishing being compared and contrasted!
When you go freshwater fishing, you will most likely use some different bait than when you go saltwater fishing. One bait that works really well in
freshwater is worms. Most of the time, you would weave the worm like a thread onto the hook. This will catch many fish. Many other bait work in
freshwater fishing. They will usually catch about any fish that it goes by because they will most likely trick the fish. Many fish like small mouth bass
and normal bass and also catfish and many other fish will get tricked by the bait and go after it. Then they will become the person's supper for that
night. Maybe. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You will use some different bait and you will also use some of the same bait. Sometimes you will catch bigger fish than when you would go

saltwater fish is the gold spoon. Also the Acme Little Cleo works good too. The Heddon Zara Spook is also a very good bait to go saltwater fishing
with. All of these baits are for smaller fish. Not like a big whale shark or something like that. There are many other baits for saltwater fishing though,

Trophic Fishing Imbalances
First, the alarming environmental issue of trophic fishing causes an imbalance in the ecosystem. To begin, while fishing at the trophic levels of the
ecosystem, the predators of the ocean are overfished. Predators such as salmon and tuna are fished quite frequently because they are used in dinners
around the world. Clearly then, as the predators rapidly decrease, the primary and secondary consumers overpopulate. Science News states, "We've
eliminated the marine equivalent of lions and wolves and are moving towards the taking of rats, cockroaches, and dandelion equivalents." (https:/
/www.sciencenews.org/) Clearly then, when predators are eliminated, the prey overpopulate. Without any predators to limit population growth, the prey
populations are able to reproduce. Since these populations are not being hunted, their populations need to consume more food, so the producers are
consumed entirely and eventually eliminated, as well. In addition to imbalances in the ecosystem, trophic fishing also affects fish populations.
Next, trophic fishing affects fish populations. Because of trophic fishing, there are over 75 aquatic species that are endangered as of 2017. ... Show more

Obviously nets, buoys, and lines are regularly let loose by fishermen. Ghost nets are often found throughout the ocean. Ghost nets are fishing gear, that
are found drifting through the ocean. These nets can be extremely harmful towards many species in the open ocean. However; Many animals mistake
plastic debris for food and eat it. This fills their stomachs with chemicals they can't digest. On the other hand, if the fish do not eat the debris, most
likely they are entangled in it. Whilst they are entangled they can be severely injured or die. Debris gets caught around the necks of marine life, which
eventually suffocates the organisms. The alarming environmental issue of trophic fishing triggers marine

Freshwater Fishing Vs. Fresh Water Fishing
Salt water fishing vs fresh water fishing Remember when you were a little kid waking up at 5 in the morning just to go fishing. You're just hoping that
today will be the day to catch the big one. You're out there just waiting for something to hit your line. No matter whether salt–water fishing or
fresh–water fishing, it will meet every fisherman's or woman's dreams. It doesn't matter if you're out on the lake or on the ocean, you are always
guaranteed to have a good time and make memories. When fishing either salt–water or fresh–water you think about what kind of fish you are trying to
catch. One of the most commanded fish fresh–water fish people think of is catfish. They can range from 1 pound up to 60 pounds depending on how
old they are. Catfish spend most of their time swimming on the bottom of lakes or rivers and they will usually eat everything. Catfish are usually
dark in color, so dark that they look brown. If you're more into the sport side of fishing, the first kind of fresh water fish you think about is a large
or small mouth bass. They usually like to chase their prey down, but they don't wonder to far from their home. These fish lie around the bank waiting
for a chance to eat. Bass color markings usually consist of bright and light green. The weight range of bass can be between a one–half pound to ten
pounds. An example of salt–water fish is Mahi–Mahi. They are very bright in colors; they vary from dark blue, to light yellow, to spots of green. A

Descriptive Writing On Fishing
There once was a young boy named Jayden and his father who lived in a small shed. They were very poor and had barely anything to eat, especially
on cold frigid winter days. They owned a farm where they could supply their own food in the summer, however, in the winter all their crops died and
they had to find another way to get food.
On a bright, but chilly day, Jayden decided to go fishing with his father. They took their fishing poles and walked 2 miles down the shore. Jayden took
off his shoes and thrusted them into the boat. They hopped onto the boat and paddled into the deep waters of the sea.

he saw the turtle poking his head out of the water. This time he wasn't caught on the bait.
"I am no longer going to fall for your bait. You have used me to catch you fish but I can't do that anymore," whispered the turtle. With a surprised look
on his face, Jayden thought to himself. It seemed as if the turtle knew he soon wanted more fish.
"Why not? Aren't all sea creatures supposed to fall for bait?" asked Jayden.
"Not in this case. I helped you as much as you needed and there is nothing I can do more," replied the turtle. With that, the turtle disappeared into the
ocean deep and never returned again. Jayden returned home with a mournful look on his face. He had nothing to eat now since the turtle no longer
provided him with fish.
"How was it today? Any luck? Catch any fish?" exclaimed his father.
"Actually... I didn't catch anything...," replied Jayden.

Itq Fishing
Applying this way of thinking to historical events can prove how a shift in attitude, from short–term to long–term selfishness, is necessary. One
example of how this mindset was successful would be sustainable fisheries and the use of ITQ's. The implementation of ITQ's, or "individual
tradable quotas" has impacted fisheries in a very positive way. "Introducing ITQs gives exclusive access to fishermen who work a fishery. A total
allowable catch (TAC) is set and an ITQ entitles the owner to a fraction of this, so the TAC translates into a catch limit for each boat. ITQs can be
traded, and their value of course depends on the productivity of the fishery." By creating incentives to conserve, the fishermen working in a fishery are

The Save the Whales Movement proves to be a counter–argument to the claim being presented. The Save the Whales Movement was a global effort to
terminate the killing of whales that was most prominent in the 1960s and 70s as people were exposed to knowledge about the unique and intelligent
marine giants. During the movement, rather than appealing to the selfishness of humans, it was enough to take advantage of empathy and ethical
characteristics of some people: "people in the Save the Whales movement found that emphasizing morality was their best card." In other words, by
increasing awareness about these creatures and their endangerment, activists were able to gain enough sympathy and compassion to make a difference.
In this case, the benefit to an individual was not considered, nor did it matter whether a person wanted to maximize gain or conserve for the long–run.
People felt sorry for the whales and were moved enough to ignite change. In this example, appealing to the selfishness of a person wouldn't be of any
use. Nonetheless, there are still vast amounts of marine species who are in danger of extinction. A movement to "save the krill" or "save the humphead
wrasse" wouldn't be nearly as successful despite the fact that each endangered species is extremely important to its environment. "One can see a
fundamental problem in the Save the Whales

13 saltwater fishing lures that will level up your ocean game
Before you set off on your next fishing trip, research the fish in that particular body of water. Fish feed in various ways so one type of bait won't
attract all types of prey. Fish are attracted to bait because of the scent, sound, and movement. Sound waves travel much faster underwater than in the air
so fish can hear saltwater lures as they are cast even long distances away.
1–Plug fishing lures were designed to mimic the action of a swimming fish. Plug lures often are accompanied by blinking lights, rattles, or vibrations.
Because plugs have a very distinct appearance, they don't require much work from the fisher. They only need to be cast and retrieve at a steady pace. ...

This is perfect for a fisher of any level and any fish. The brighter color lures stand out well on sunny days; while the dark colored lures create a strong
presence on gloomy and overcast days. They also pair well with jogs and bucktails.
3–Spoon fishing lures were intended to run shallowly through the water. Just like deep water spoons, they have the same alluring demeanor to attract
the prey. These lures are shaped like a real spoon– wide ends that make a concave center. There are two tpes of spoon lures– casting and trolling.
Casting spoons are heavier and can be thrown further distances. Trolling speeds range from low and speed models that are very thin to easily glide
through water.
4–Spinnerbaits are originally a freshwater bait, but anglers use them as a tactic to attract inshore fish. It does not blend in with the other fish, but it
appeals to a fish's sense of sound and movement. This bait can be cast out quickly across the surface or dragged along the bottom of the water for the
jig to latch onto a bottom feeder fish. Blue FoxВ® Minnow Spin (Blue FoxВ® 27665301), Spinner Baits/Buzz Baits is great for catching the attention

Sea Fishing Parallels

and this variety can yield a number of adventures. After all, what could be considered more fun than battling a large fish that was indigenous to the
waters you are fishing in? Of course, when you do hook such a fish, you will need to be able to adequately reel it in. This means you will need to
proper equipment to do so. As such, you will need to purchase sea fishing reels that are up to the task.
Is there much of a difference among the various reels you could purchase? The answer to this question is an absolute yes. When you have matched the
right fishing reels with the particular game fish you are seeking, the results can be rather positive. When you have the wrong reel improperly matched

  • 2. Fishing Is Fishing Fishing had never been a hobby until I considered until this past summer. Fishing has an importance that goes way back since my great grandpa back in Mexico. My great grandpa used to take my father fishing to a nearby lake near their home where they would spend hours fishing for that night's dinner. As a kid, I remember my family would take trips to the lake or rivers to have a family gathering and acarne asada. This is where my uncles and grandpa would fish, but at the time playing soccer with my cousins was more exciting. When I turned 13, my grandpa invited me to go fishing to Lake Buena Vista that Saturday morning. I immediately thought "tedious" but decided to open up and try a new activity and at the end of the day, I would have a story to tell my friends. Once at the lake, I asked my grandpa, "What is so cool about fishing" and he responded, "It's not about catching fish, it is about relaxing and being away from everything and enjoying nature. Anyone can go to the market to buy a fish, but can they have the patience to battle one and reel it in?". As the day progressed we caught a couple of catfish which my grandpa took home and made soup with. Although that day I enjoyed myself I also found out fishing was not my hobby. Fishing is for those who have patience and don't dread being in the sun all day. Flash forwarding to this past summer, my friend Froilan wanted to go fishing after he saw some YouTube videos about fishing. After he told me we should go fishing to do ... • 3. The Joys of Fishing Essay Fishing is an activity I have enjoyed doing ever since I was a little kid. In fact, one of my first fishing voyages was with my grandpa when I was about eight years old. He was an avid fisherman who went fishing almost every day and knew everything there was to know about fishing. Grandpa got me hooked on fishing. After Grandpa died, my dad picked up where Grandpa left off. We had a pontoon, and Dad took my brothers and me fishing whenever we had the chance. To this day, I still love fishing just as much as I had on my first fishing trip with my grandpa. Many people enjoy hobbies that are relaxing and peaceful, and others prefer exhilarating activities that never have a dull moment. I enjoy fishing because it has some of both. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The excitement begins to rise as the first cast draws nearer. The motor is prepared for take–off and the key is placed in the ignition. The engine turns over and the huge motor roars. The sleek boat accelerates rapidly and speeds toward the first fishing spot of the day. In a matter of minutes, the powerful boat glides into the fishing spot. The anticipation of catching a fish becomes almost unbearable. The fishing poles are grabbed quickly out of the rod lockers, and lures are tied onto the end of the fishing line. Moments later, the sound of a lure splashing into the water can be heard from the boat. The real adventure has just begun. Fishing has been around a long time and has been evolving over the years. In fact, the first known fishermen were from the Stone Age. They used materials that were available to them to catch fish and put food on the table for their families. Succeeding the Stone Age however, fishing has slowly begun to transform into more of a sport than a method of providing food. National Geographic states, "It wasn't until the 15th century that fishing began its evolution into a sport. Previously, fishing was simply a means for survival." Fishing has changed so immensely that it has become a competitive sport. Fishermen all over the world angle competitively against each other in huge tournaments for a living. These professional fishermen are awarded millions of dollars to angle out of expensive boats that their sponsors pays for. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Rise Of The Fishing Industry Before the rise of the fishing industry in the 1950's Newfoundland and Labrador struggled with an unstable economy and many citizens found themselves living in poverty. Initially on shore methods had minimal impact on the environment and fish population, as in–shore fishermen followed a strict season and fished only during the summer leaving the population to migrate in the fall. As technology advanced steam boats made off shore fishing possible, this allowed draggers to fish in massive quantities regardless of the season. At first this was very promising to the Canadian government and the Fishery Products International Company (FPI) as they saw huge profits, and the opportunity to create jobs for fisherman and factory workers alike. However, with continued offshore fishing the inshore fisherman saw significant depletion in the fish population, specifically cod. It took far too long for the government to realize the severity of the issue and when they did it was too late. In 1992 the government announced a complete ban of cod fishing. This resulted in the loss of 19000 jobs, and all profit coming from this industry throwing many small fishing towns in Newfoundland back into poverty. All stakeholders felt the effects of the ban; the External Stakeholders FPI explains why they supplied the boats to major corporations and over exaggerated the cod population and Internal Stakeholders consisted of the independent fishermen and their families and how they were affected. Bycatch Fishing One of the biggest contributions to biodiversity loss is over fishing which is employed by fishery's. the methods and techniques used include bottom trawling, net, and poisoning in order to catch large sums of fish. Because of these tactics used the biggest problem is Bycatch which are unwanted species that are caught in the nets on accident. To rectify this problem Ward et. Al suggests "Using a single – species approach, the fishing gear is modified to eliminate the harvest of incidentally caught fish species."(ward et al. 2012). By modifying fishing gear, species like dolphins, sea turtles, and fish would be able to escape the nets and reduce the amount of Bycatch. • 6. Personal Narrative On Fishing Beep, Beep, I reached over and hit my alarm clock until it shut off. It was only 6 o'clock in the morning and I was already getting up. I was going fishing with my Dad, Pepe and one of his friends, Harold. We were going to Milford lake which is about 45 minutes away. My dad told me that they never have any luck at all when they go fishing, and something bad always happens, and we were wishing that nothing would happen this time either. Pepe was running late and the morning was not starting the way we wanted it to be. It took us a while to get everything packed and the boat hooked up to the truck. By the time we got everything together and packed it was almost 7:30. We were off to go pick up Harold and we waited outside for him for about five minutes, we honked then he finally he came came out. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By the time we drove the boat to the spot that we wanted to go the clouds had gotten even heavier and the wind had picked up another fifty mph it seemed like. • 7. Carp Fishing Tips Whats the alternative to lead weights? In this article I would like to talk about some different ways of getting more out of your carp fishing. Recently I have started to do a few things differently and I think it is making a difference. Firstly the length of hooklink. Over the last few years articles have talked about using shorter hooklinks but I don't see many people using them, I'm talking about very short 21/2 – 3inches. I reckon some anglers are not keen on this because your bait is sitting very close to the lead, but your bait is not always the length of your hooklink away from the bait anyway, lots of times when you've cast the bait follows the lead down and could be sitting right next to the lead unless when you tighten up you move the lead! If you don't like your bait very close to the lead why is that?, is it because you think carp can recognise danger when they see the lead! I reckon on well fished waters carp are cautious of leads that's why I've starting using the 'Stonze'. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All the anglers fished the same lake and used the 'Stonze' system with the very short hooklinks and used the method with Pallatrax boilies. Over 48 hours 984lb of carp were caught plus tench and roach. Images curtesy of Brian Atkins 2003© I noticed that directly you cast out you would get small fish attacking the method and would get bleeps and knocks until the bigger fish moved in and you would get a run. If we had all used 3oz leads and 10 inch hooklinks I'm convinced we wouldn't have caught so many fish. If you use long hooklinks carp can pick up your bait and move twice the distance of your hooklink before they tighten to the lead. Different Rig 3 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Persuasive Fishing Outline Introduction With fishing industries advancing dramatically, fishing gear now consists of equipment such as large nets and hooks to capture aquatic species at a much faster rate. But with such a large amount of fish being captured daily and many more being thrown away, we are reducing food supply. Thesis Statement: Advance in technology and fishing methods have made it easier to catch large amounts of fish in a short amount of time; resulting in endangering fish species, reduce reproduction rate, harm fish habitats, and reduce food supply for the future. II. Background Paragraph For centuries we have relied on fishing as a means for food. Over the years we have developed new methods of fishing and have enhanced our equipment to capture vast amounts of fish in a minimum amount of time. We now have industrial fishing companies that provide for ourseafood demand. As we continue to capture large amounts of fish we begin to shorten supply for the future, reduce reproduction rates, disrupt food chains, harm habitats, and drive species to extinction. III. Paragraph I Overfishing has been a major threat to ocean inhabitants. Fishing industries use harsh methods to fish that unintentionally harm habitats or catch and kill fish that are untargeted. ... • 13. Compare And Contrast Ice Fishing And Summer Fishing Ice Fishing or Summer Fishing Fishing is an extremely fun thing to do. The objective of fishing is to outsmart a fish by catching it using a bait. People have been fishing for thousands, upon thousands, of years. It can be something somebody does for fun, or for food. Regardless, it is a fun thing to undergo. However, which is better, fishing in the summer or fishing in the winter? There are lots of different baits that can be used while summer fishing. Fish can be caught differently during this time. One way to catch fish is by casting and reeling. When using this method, you cast a lure into the desired spot and real it in, hoping to catch a fish in the process. Another way to catch fish is by using a bobber. When bobber fishing, you put live bait or fake bait onto a hook and cast your line into spot where you are likely to catch something. The bobber will keep the hook, and bait suspended in the water. Most of the time, shorts and a T–shirt is all one needs to wear in summer. Even fishing at night, in the summer months, is warm. A glorious thing about going fishing when it's warm is that if it gets too hot, there is always the opportunity of jumping in the water to cool off. Ice fishing is done in the colder months of the year when all the lakes and rivers are frozen over. Ice fishing is done by drilling, or chiseling your way through ice until you reach water. Once water is reached, you drop a desired bait down the hole and wait. Hopefully you pick a good spot, because when ice fishing, every time you want to move spots the same process has to be repeated. It can be quite the hassle, drilling through ice, especially when there is a lot of it. It was a long line fishing rig hung with hundreds of dead sharks on a single fishing line that Stewart explained had the potential to reach from Earth to space. This fishing line is known by conservationists as a "curtain of death" (Kielburger). Overfishing is the fishing of a species at levels too high for the species to reproduce. When fish populations are low in one area, fishing boats will need to move to another area where fish are more abundant. This renders oceans and their sea life helpless and severely damaged until all of the fish in the oceans are completely gone. That is why governments need laws establishing the length of time a person could spend at sea fishing, in order to reduce overfishing and increase recovery of fish populations. One example of a fish population suffering from overfishing is the Pacific bluefin tuna. "Overfishing has left the world with less than five percent of its Pacific Bluefin tuna, says the Pew Environment Group" (Kowalski). This statement explains to the world how overfishing can drastically decrease a species' population in an extraordinarily short time period. The Pacific bluefin tuna and other fish are very much stressed by overfishing, and suffer severe losses of population every day. Moreover, overfishing will soon lead to the extinction of fish species like the Pacific bluefin tuna. The European Commission even admits that the "EU's [European Union] stocks are 88% overfished" ("An Icelandic Success"). This reveals Europe's failure to prevent overfishing from spreading throughout the continent and beyond its borders. The majority of Europe's fish supply undergoes the harmful effects that overfishing brings. Additionally, the fish ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A bag limit is the number of fish a person could take of an individual species of fish. Some of the major variables that scientist look for is the anatomy of the fish, human intervention and pressure of the individual fish species, and climate. Every single species of fish is different. Baitfish are meant to be consumed by predator fish therefore they are plentiful and usually in abundance so there are no bag limits. Even the color of the fish is important. Red Snapper is in abundance because they are Red. In the fish eye spectrum red is invisible so these fish are plentiful so the government does not have to put strict regulations. Offspring is also very important some fish lay thousands of eggs because in reality not many will survive, but bigger fish will lay less numbered fish because the chance of survival is much higher for these fish species. Math is all around these subjects because scientist collects data and numbers from oceans to predict and examine a bag limit. There is also statistics in bag limits because scientist have to go out collect data on the fish and as well as the people. For example the popularity of the fish correlates directly to the number of offspring a fish produce. If a fish produces a lot of off spring and there's no demand for the fish then no bag limits should be placed, vice versa. In the fishing word everything is a numbers game because numbers don't ... Many are optimistic about these reforms, while others are cautious since the CFP has a reputation for sounding brilliant and proving to be catastrophic in the long–run. Rather than trying to fix a fault–ridden system where the interests of Member States involve the short–term goals of mainly their own fishing industry, it may be more beneficial for the EU to implement a system of control like that of Iceland or Norway. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The fishing industries of Norway, Iceland and Greenland are thriving, despite having very little to no comparative advantage over the UK. The UK has acknowledged that the decline in fish stocks has not resulted from any economic or environmental issues, but rather from political issues of mismanagement. Thus, the decline of UK fish stocks can be directly associated with its membership in the EU and the Common Fisheries Policy. Brexit would restore the UK governments control over the industry, enabling them to enforce better, more effective conservation measures and to regenerate not only fish stocks but the infrastructure of the fishing industry as a whole. Another solution to the problem of overfishing and the decline of fish stocks was proposed by Ronald Coase and his ideas on property rights and the political economy of environmental protection. Coase sets out that not only do negative externalities not exist, but that the specification of private property rights is the most efficient way to tackle environmental issues, such as overfishing. The analysis points out that – "where private property arrangements have been allowed to emerge, there have been considerable improvements in terms of the maintenance of fish stocks and the reduction of pollution. • 19. Descriptive Essay On Fishing Lilia Benitez Mr. Young Zoology 7 December 2017 Fishing Everyone loves spending their time at the lake on a good summer evening with friends and family, whether they're having a camp fire and just circling it, cracking jokes, or fishing. People fish for a various of reasons, some may eat the fish (hey, basically free food!), just simply toss the fish back into the body of water which they got it from, or even just fish for the sake of it, and let the fishes die because of them being forgotten about. Whatever you're reasoning for fishing is, there is always going to be a bad side to it, even if your intentions are not to do so. There are number of reasons why people fish, reasons such as enjoying the feeling of catching huge fish, enjoying the scenery of the sunset, getting some relax time to themselves, getting to hang out with friends, competing with friends about who gets more fish or the bigger fish, and for survival (if you already have your license, and need something for dinner, there you are !). However, No one has really has put thought into how fishing may affect the environment of that body of water. Let's talk about what really goes on in ponds/lakes. Most large bodies of water here in Kansas consist of largemouth bass, blue gill, and channel catfish. These fishes all spawn when the water gets warm, so during spring or early summer, for the bass; 60–70 degrees, and for the catfish. 70–75 degrees. When these eggs are laid, the father fish protects the eggs and makes sure nothing happens to them. Lets say someone decides to go fishing at the time the father is protecting the eggs, the male fish will see the hook as a threat to the eggs and attack it. There you go, you got a catch! But do you really know what that means? Because you have caught the male fish, who's there to protect the eggs? The amount of eggs laid by these types of fish can be up to 500. There's a specific reason why it's the male protecting the egg and not the woman, the male is stronger and can protect the eggs from being eaten and can keep them warm better. Any who, because you caught the male protector, the eggs will all die because they will be exposed to the cold lake. That's 501 fish you costs the pond although you only ... To begin, while fishing at the trophic levels of the ecosystem, the predators of the ocean are overfished. Predators such as salmon and tuna are fished quite frequently because they are used in dinners around the world. Clearly then, as the predators rapidly decrease, the primary and secondary consumers overpopulate. Science News states, "We've eliminated the marine equivalent of lions and wolves and are moving towards the taking of rats, cockroaches, and dandelion equivalents." (https:/ /www.sciencenews.org/) Clearly then, when predators are eliminated, the prey overpopulate. Without any predators to limit population growth, the prey populations are able to reproduce. Since these populations are not being hunted, their populations need to consume more food, so the producers are consumed entirely and eventually eliminated, as well. They owned a farm where they could supply their own food in the summer, however, in the winter all their crops died and they had to find another way to get food. On a bright, but chilly day, Jayden decided to go fishing with his father. They took their fishing poles and walked 2 miles down the shore. Jayden took off his shoes and thrusted them into the boat. They hopped onto the boat and paddled into the deep waters of the sea. An hour passed since they left their shed and Jayden had caught nothing. He felt small nips on his rod but never a real bite. He then released the string and winded the handle. Jayden waited. And waited. Until he could no longer take it anymore. He gave up and thought the turtle disappeared somewhere else. Suddenly, he saw the turtle poking his head out of the water. This time he wasn't caught on the bait. "I am no longer going to fall for your bait. You have used me to catch you fish but I can't do that anymore," whispered the turtle. With a surprised look on his face, Jayden thought to himself. It seemed as if the turtle knew he soon wanted more fish. "Why not? Aren't all sea creatures supposed to fall for bait?" asked Jayden. "Not in this case. I helped you as much as you needed and there is nothing I can do more," replied the turtle. With that, the turtle disappeared into the ocean deep and never returned again. Jayden returned home with a mournful look on his face. He had nothing to eat now since the turtle no longer provided him with fish. "How was it today? Any luck? Catch any fish?" exclaimed his father. "Actually... I didn't catch anything...," replied Jayden. With a disappointing look, his father sighed and said, "It's okay son, you've done ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Itq Fishing Applying this way of thinking to historical events can prove how a shift in attitude, from short–term to long–term selfishness, is necessary. One example of how this mindset was successful would be sustainable fisheries and the use of ITQ's. The implementation of ITQ's, or "individual tradable quotas" has impacted fisheries in a very positive way. "Introducing ITQs gives exclusive access to fishermen who work a fishery. A total allowable catch (TAC) is set and an ITQ entitles the owner to a fraction of this, so the TAC translates into a catch limit for each boat. ITQs can be traded, and their value of course depends on the productivity of the fishery." By creating incentives to conserve, the fishermen working in a fishery are encouraged to... The Save the Whales Movement was a global effort to terminate the killing of whales that was most prominent in the 1960s and 70s as people were exposed to knowledge about the unique and intelligent marine giants. During the movement, rather than appealing to the selfishness of humans, it was enough to take advantage of empathy and ethical characteristics of some people: "people in the Save the Whales movement found that emphasizing morality was their best card." In other words, by increasing awareness about these creatures and their endangerment, activists were able to gain enough sympathy and compassion to make a difference. In this case, the benefit to an individual was not considered, nor did it matter whether a person wanted to maximize gain or conserve for the long–run. People felt sorry for the whales and were moved enough to ignite change. In this example, appealing to the selfishness of a person wouldn't be of any use. Nonetheless, there are still vast amounts of marine species who are in danger of extinction. A movement to "save the krill" or "save the humphead wrasse" wouldn't be nearly as successful despite the fact that each endangered species is extremely important to its environment.
