Evaluation – Question 2
How effective is the combinationofyour mainproductand ancillarytasks?
Duringthe creationof our 3 mediaproductswe consideredhow we couldestablishabrandinwhich
the audience couldget behind;furthermore byestablishingthisbranditwouldhelpwithgettingthe
audience torememberourfilm‘Crook’. Intermsof the linksbetweenourmainproductandour
ancillarytasks,all three of ourproducts include the charactersthatfeature inthe film, onboththe
posterand frontcoverwe see the maincharacters frombehind,onthe otherhandthe trailerreveals
the facesof bothThe Gripwell KillerandDetective Foster.Anotherlinkbetweenour3media
products is the fontand coloursusedforthe title of our film‘Crook’.Inthe trailerthere isa shot
towardsthe endof the trailerwhichshowsthe title of the film, inadditiontothisonboththe front
coverand posterthe same fontand colourscheme isusedfor the title of the film, therefore this
helpsinestablishingthe brandforCrook,thisprovesthat our choice toinclude the title withthe
same coloursand fontwas an effective choice forourproductioncompany. We alsodecidedtouse a
bloodredcolourfor the maincolourfor our film, thiscouldconnotesdangerwhichiswhywe usedit
on all 3 of our mediaproductsforCrook to try andshow the audience whatthe full filmcouldentail
for the characters involved.
Anotherfeature thatwe decidedtoinclude inboththe posterandthe trailer we the additionof the
CrossroadFilmslogo,howeverwe didnotuse the logoon the magazine frontcoverforCrook.On
the otherhand,we didinclude the CrossroadFilmslogoinadifferentvariationonthe posterfor
Crook,we didthisbecause whenresearchingotherfilmposterssuchasThe Dark Knightproducedby
Warner Bros.theyusedtheirlogoandchangedthe colourso itfitin withthe restof the poster,
therefore we feltitwouldbe agoodwayof promotingourproductioncompanybyputtingiton our
posterand ourtrailer.We showcasedthe CrossroadFilmslogoatthe beginningof the trailer,we did
thisto immediatelyinformthe audience whoproducedthistrailerandwhoproducedthe full film
for Crook.By linkingourmediaproductstogetherinhelpsinestablishingabrandfor the film, if we
decidednottoinclude the same fontsandcoloursfor the title of ourfilmthe audience maylose
interestinthose specificmediaproductsthatdidnotinclude those features.
In additiontomypreviouspoints,we alsomade sure thatwe includedthe actorsname inall 3 of our
mediaproducts;thiswouldhelpwithgettingthe audiencefamiliarizedwiththe actorsthatappear in
the filmas well asthe trailer.Forexample,onthe magazine frontcoverwe includedapiece of
informationinformingthe audience aboutanew “upcomingactor”called“Charlie Quirk”(me) who
playsDetective FosterinCrook.Whereas,onthe posterwe see both“Charlie Quirk”and“Brandon
Hanlon”showcasedonthe postertowardsthe top end,finallyduringthe trailerwe see the namesof
the actors showup on theirownindividual shotsduringthe trailer,we gave the creditsforthe actors
Finally,we alsomade sure thatcreditswere usedthroughoutthe promotional material forCrookas
well asthe traileritself.Forexample,onthe magazine frontcoverwe gave aninsighttowhat’s
inside the magazine withacircle whichsaysthatthe magazine includesabackgroundpreviewon
“Charlie Quirk”,thereforethisallowsthe audience togetan ideaof whoCharlie Quirkisand give
theman ideaof what theycouldexpectfromthe characterof Detective Foster.Whereasonthe
Charlie Quirk
posterforCrook, towardsthe bottomendof the posterwe alsoincludedcreditswhichshow who
didwhat withthe film,forexamplethe creditsshow whocame upwiththe storywithCrookand
whodidthe screenplayforCrook.Finally,inthe trailerforCrookwe includedseveral different
creditsforthe actors whoplayedarole in this film;the fontsusedforthe creditsinthe trailerwere
alsoconsistenttohelpestablishabrandfor our filmasa whole.

  • 1. Charlie Quirk Evaluation – Question 2 How effective is the combinationofyour mainproductand ancillarytasks? Duringthe creationof our 3 mediaproductswe consideredhow we couldestablishabrandinwhich the audience couldget behind;furthermore byestablishingthisbranditwouldhelpwithgettingthe audience torememberourfilm‘Crook’. Intermsof the linksbetweenourmainproductandour ancillarytasks,all three of ourproducts include the charactersthatfeature inthe film, onboththe posterand frontcoverwe see the maincharacters frombehind,onthe otherhandthe trailerreveals the facesof bothThe Gripwell KillerandDetective Foster.Anotherlinkbetweenour3media products is the fontand coloursusedforthe title of our film‘Crook’.Inthe trailerthere isa shot towardsthe endof the trailerwhichshowsthe title of the film, inadditiontothisonboththe front coverand posterthe same fontand colourscheme isusedfor the title of the film, therefore this helpsinestablishingthe brandforCrook,thisprovesthat our choice toinclude the title withthe same coloursand fontwas an effective choice forourproductioncompany. We alsodecidedtouse a bloodredcolourfor the maincolourfor our film, thiscouldconnotesdangerwhichiswhywe usedit on all 3 of our mediaproductsforCrook to try andshow the audience whatthe full filmcouldentail for the characters involved. Anotherfeature thatwe decidedtoinclude inboththe posterandthe trailer we the additionof the CrossroadFilmslogo,howeverwe didnotuse the logoon the magazine frontcoverforCrook.On the otherhand,we didinclude the CrossroadFilmslogoinadifferentvariationonthe posterfor Crook,we didthisbecause whenresearchingotherfilmposterssuchasThe Dark Knightproducedby Warner Bros.theyusedtheirlogoandchangedthe colourso itfitin withthe restof the poster, therefore we feltitwouldbe agoodwayof promotingourproductioncompanybyputtingiton our posterand ourtrailer.We showcasedthe CrossroadFilmslogoatthe beginningof the trailer,we did thisto immediatelyinformthe audience whoproducedthistrailerandwhoproducedthe full film for Crook.By linkingourmediaproductstogetherinhelpsinestablishingabrandfor the film, if we decidednottoinclude the same fontsandcoloursfor the title of ourfilmthe audience maylose interestinthose specificmediaproductsthatdidnotinclude those features. In additiontomypreviouspoints,we alsomade sure thatwe includedthe actorsname inall 3 of our mediaproducts;thiswouldhelpwithgettingthe audiencefamiliarizedwiththe actorsthatappear in the filmas well asthe trailer.Forexample,onthe magazine frontcoverwe includedapiece of informationinformingthe audience aboutanew “upcomingactor”called“Charlie Quirk”(me) who playsDetective FosterinCrook.Whereas,onthe posterwe see both“Charlie Quirk”and“Brandon Hanlon”showcasedonthe postertowardsthe top end,finallyduringthe trailerwe see the namesof the actors showup on theirownindividual shotsduringthe trailer,we gave the creditsforthe actors Finally,we alsomade sure thatcreditswere usedthroughoutthe promotional material forCrookas well asthe traileritself.Forexample,onthe magazine frontcoverwe gave aninsighttowhat’s inside the magazine withacircle whichsaysthatthe magazine includesabackgroundpreviewon “Charlie Quirk”,thereforethisallowsthe audience togetan ideaof whoCharlie Quirkisand give theman ideaof what theycouldexpectfromthe characterof Detective Foster.Whereasonthe

Charlie Quirk posterforCrook, towardsthe bottomendof the posterwe alsoincludedcreditswhichshow who didwhat withthe film,forexamplethe creditsshow whocame upwiththe storywithCrookand whodidthe screenplayforCrook.Finally,inthe trailerforCrookwe includedseveral different creditsforthe actors whoplayedarole in this film;the fontsusedforthe creditsinthe trailerwere alsoconsistenttohelpestablishabrandfor our filmasa whole.
