Some of the most commonly used shot types in a psychological thriller are : the mid shot, close up and extreme close up.These are commonly used as it helps the audience relate to the character as they are able to see the characters facial expression and body language clearly.This makes the film more scary, as the audience are more engrossed and in touch with the characters emotions. POV shots are also used in psychological thrillers such as the paranormal acitivty films to make the audience feel more involved in the characters point of view.
