1. Camera shot types
Extreme wide– The point of this shot is to show the subject's surroundings. This is often
used as an establishing shot to show where the scene is set.
Extreme close up- This shot is used to make the scene more dramatic, it is also used
to show general reactions and emotions of the character.
Medium two shot- This shot can be used to show the relationship of two characters.
Close up- Close up shots emphasizes the emotions of the character.
Wide- The wide shot allows us to observe the surroundings and the character itself in
the scene.
Long shot- Generally a shot which shows approximately life size between the real
distance of the audience and the screen.
Point of view shot- This shot shows us the perspective of the character.
Over the shoulder shot- The over shoulder shot is used when two characters are
opposite each other having a conversation.
Medium- Usually used to cut off the bottom part which isn’t important.
Medium close up- same as medium but shows more detail on the characters face.
Hand held- Used to create a more dramatic feel to the shot.
High angle- Can show us the character that is usually being dominated.
Low angle- Can show us the dominance of the character.
Canted or Dutch angle
Tilt- Usually used to show setting. E.g. from bottom of building to looking up Track
Pan- Show’s movement in the scene.
