2. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why? I think most large film companies would distribute our thriller because it meets entertainment needs and would fit in at a mainstream cinema showing. Companies such as Universal Studious (has produced Jaws, The Bourne Identity), Paramount Pictures (has produced Mission Impossible and Vertigo) and New Line cinema (has produced Se7en and Final Destination) could all distribute this film. I think because these distributors have a good reputation of thriller, action and horror films any company such as these would be suitable. I think you would see our film in a mainstream cinema because it has a wide audience because it is certified at 15 and can be any age above that. It appeals to the general public and has an entertaining storyline that I think people would want to watch.
11. How does your media product represent particular social groups? Our main character- Rose has been chosen because of her age, we think is relatable to our target audience. I think she has a mysterious look, we wanted somebody who is tall and blonde. We purposely put her in dark clothing to make her look more suspicious and simple clothing to not tell too much about her immediately. This is similar to the main character in ‘Silence of the Lambs’. When she is first introduced she is also in a simple dark uniform and is running on her own. We created a similar effect by not seeing any other characters in out opening because we wanted to build suspense by the audience thinking something was going to happen to her as in Silence of the Lambs. The both show strong woman, and women going for what they want in life. Having women as the dominant character is unusial for a thriller but I think it works.
12. How does your media product represent particular social groups? The fact both of these women are on their own shows they do not need men and are out in everyday life getting on with things without them. I think this shows that anybody can not be what they first seem, as it seems as if Rose is the victim whereas we find out later she is the opposite. It shows younger women in a different light and we wanted to do this to steer away from a predictable storyline.
13. How does your media product represent particular social groups? The other main character is who you think is introduced through the flashing images and shots of hands with gloves on creating a notice board with women's crossed out faces on. This introduces men in a mysterious way and the audience don’t get to see who it actually is this is because they are led to think it’s the man killer when really it is the female. This follow's the codes and conventions of a typical thriller because things are kept hidden. This is similar to ‘Se7en’ one of the thrillers I analysed, because you also are intoduced to the killer by using this unknown technique.
