1. PDHPE Rationale
PDHPE is a key KLA within the NSW school curriculum. It encourages
children to become happy, healthy and responsible students while
also promoting physical activity and an understanding of the
importance of health. It helps students to feel comfortable with
their own body as well as encouraging positive relationships with
other people.
2. Active Lifestyle…
Through PDHPE students learn
what it means to live a fit and
healthy lifestyle, through a wide
rage of curricula games,
exercises and activities.
3. Healthy Eating
Students learn the importance of keeping a
healthy and nutritious diet and the positive
effects it has on the body. They learn how
to make good choices when it comes to
food while examining the food pyramid
and the different effects of vitamins and
supplements on the body.
4. The importance of safe living
Students learn about skills fundamental
to the safety and wellbeing of
themselves and others including drug
safety, water and road safety, stranger
danger and child protection issues.
5. Positive Relationships
Students learn how positive friendships
are formed and are encouraged to
show consideration in regards to the
thoughts and feelings and needs of
others. They learn the negative effects
of bullying and what constitutes
negative relationships. They are also
taught how to respect and value
themselves.
6. PDHPE is overall, a fun learning
experience for all children that
encourages them to reach new limits.
