1. Why do we teach PDHPE?
Personal Development, Health and Physical
Education (PDHPE) is one of the 6 core learning
areas in the NSW Primary School Curriculum. Its
significance is through continuous development
both physically and for the community.
2. Get Moving!!
PDHPE promotes and encourages children to lead a healthy and
active lifestyle not only now but also as adults. Students learn to:
Approach and embrace opportunities to solve problems and
make decisions.
Gain social kills and develop good sportsmanship.
Learn to utilise their manipulative skills and bodily
movements.
3. Healthy Lifestyle
PDH focuses on the physical wellbeing of
students, allowing them to understand that
certain changes to their body are normal.
Students learn about nutritious eating and
developing a positive attitude towards living a
healthy lifestyle.
4. Safety First
Students learn to recognise when their personal
safety is at risk, whether it be through Stranger
awareness, Road rules and swim safety.
They are taught the appropriate strategies to
protect themselves and avoid danger.
5. Having Fun!
Self confidence and having respect for others is
an integral part of the PDHPE learning
experience, students learn to build positive
relationships with their peers all while having
fun and being active!!
