PDHPE leads a fundamental role in primary school
education as it teaches children the importance of
healthy life choices which lead to healthy
relationships and healthy lives, physically and,
mentally.

2. Valuing of Self & Others
• PDHPE teaches students to value and
respect themselves as well as others,
raising self confidence.
• Encouraging appropriate expression
and identification of feelings.
• Learning how they should and
shouldn’t be treated.

3. Staying Active
• PDHPE promotes a healthy lifestyle
highly inclusive of physical activity.
• Encouraging students to stay active
and learn the values and benefits of
an active life style.

4. Staying Healthy
• PDHPE encourages healthy eating and
teaches students why it is important
to eat a healthy, balanced diet.
• Teaching positive health choices, and
the bodies nutritional needs.

5. Safe Living
• PDHPE teaches and raises awareness
of students’ personal safety, where
they may be at risk and methods
they can take to keep safe.
• E.g. road safety, swim safety,
stranger danger.
