The document discusses the planning and focus group feedback for a new music magazine. It will focus on pop, charted, and alternative music to appeal to a wide audience. The magazine will be called "Discovered" to emphasize new music. Single male artists will typically be featured on the cover to match the target audience preferences. Articles will cover music festivals and gigs, as this type of content interests the target demographic. The magazine will have a red color scheme but also incorporate other colors to make the design more eye-catching. The proposed price point is £2-3, and the focus group recommends setting the price at £2.50 to match competitor prices and target student budget constraints.
1. What kind of music will you magazine focus on?
Pop/charted/alternative music as it appeals to a wide range of audience making a my magazine a
bigger magazine and it being mainstream
My focus group agreed with this and the reason why I picked it and they all thought it was a good
idea as it creates more of an audience for me
What will your magazine are called?
Discovered was the highest scoring on the questionnaire
Focus group: it makes it sound that we’ve got the latest and we are up to date with new music. This
would create audience as it would attract them in if they are interested. Fit well for a music
magazine as there are always new music, being songs or band/artists that people are discovering.
Will you feature a single artist or a band on the front cover?
Single male artist because that is what the people voted for on my questionnaire and their my target
audience so I wanted to go with what they want.
Focus group: attracts a certain group of audience and fits in with my genre as most artists are single
and male. The front cover won’t be cluttered as there is only one person. The composition on the
cover will also be more interesting. It’s good that you have listened to what people your age that
are your target audience want as there the people that are going to buy the magazine.
What kind of article will be on your double page spread?
Coverage of festivals and gigs was the highest scoring on my questionnaire
Focus group: This is a good choice as it relates to people our age and your target audience. This is
what our age or similar ages are interested so this will attract them. Again it’s good that you are
listening to people that are the same age of your target audience.
What colour scheme will your magazine have?
Red because it was the highest scoring on my questionnaire however I going to pick other colour to
make it more interesting and eye catching
Red is a bright colour and eye catching for a cover. The colour is mutual to both sexes so it appeals
to more people. The colour is also mutual to ages as well also creating a wider audience and they
won’t feel like they can’t buy it because they feel it’s not for their age or gender
How much will it cost?
£2-£3 as it was the one most selected
Focus group: go for the middle £2.50. It’s a good price also considering you target audience as there
mainly students so they don’t have a lot of money. Good as most music magazines are at that price.
