1. Miike Snow -
Miike Snow
Miike Snow is a Swedish band
that formed in 2007 and by
2009 they released their first
studio album, Miike Snow. The
genre of the group is described
as being indie-electro pop. I
feel that this album cover is not
a correct representation of the
genre. This seems to be a
reoccurring throughout the
covers relating to the genre.
This gave me the impression
that the album cover is another
way to advertise for the band.
From looking at the album
artwork I can speculate they
are a band likes to messy
around and experiment with
music, I get this impression
from the bizarre logo that is the
rabbit with antlers. They have
directly tried to make this a key feature of the artwork by bring more attention to it. This has been
done using photoshop and creating a subtle circle around the logo in the form of lines. The overall
cover is calming and relaxing which I believe is an correct representation of their music.
Gym Class Heroes -
As Cruel As School Children
The band formed in 2001 although being
called different names from 1997. This
was their third album to be released in
2006.
The album artwork show an obese child,
that is coloured in blue and white
representing the person as calm and
relaxed. The kid is wear a belt that has
GCH which are the initials of the band
suggesting that they are this child. There
is a white barrier around him making the
kid stand out against the yellow
background.
This cover has had a lot detail put into it,
you can recognise the place as a class
room by the children in school clothes,
desks and the bookcase. The children
are pointing and laughing at the child
which I assume is because of him being
different, which is a direct relation to the
album title. This something that you donʼt see in many album covers.
