Comparative Advantage Vs. Opportunity Costs
Comparative advantage simply means a country or a firm is able to produce goods or services at the
lowest opportunity cost. This means that the firm or country can produce a particular good at a
cheaper rate. Based on this theory, the countries which specialize in the production of that have the
lowest opportunity costs often bring about an increament in the economic welfare. Countries or
firms tend to produce more while at the same time consuming less of the goods or services they
have a comparative advantage (Ruffin, 2002). The aspects of trade are always dynamic. When a
particular country is producing a given good better than another country producing another different
good (with the assumption that each demands for both goods), they would easily trade. However, a
challenge comes when one country produces both goods in a better way than the other country. Such
a shift in the aspects of trade focuses on the differences between the theory of comparative
advantage versus opportunity costs (Ruffin, 2002). The comparative advantage theory champions
for the increased benefits with specialization. The countries which specialize in the production of
certain goods they are perfect at producing will end up profiting in such venture. Consequently, the
gains made by such firms or countries from the trade can be used to acquire goods they desire and
do not produce. Comparative advantage will thus not only affect the types of goods produced but
also the pricing of various goods

What Is the Cost of the Good Life? Essay
Throughout history all over the world, humans have been searching for their own "good life". What
each person's good life is and what it takes to attain that life differs greatly across all aspects of
humanity, causing it to require much time and effort for each person to discover their concept of a
good life. This makes sense because of the vast differences in beliefs, experiences, and opinions that
also play a part in constructing a large gap in social and financial statuses. For every human the
sacrifices and benefits that come with finding one's good life are considered the cost it took to get
there, and each cost has a different amount of an impact on a person's journey. Finding a partner and
love seems to be a common theme ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Only a single human can ultimately find their own good life, but outside influences often have a
large impact in assisting a person find it much quicker. Learning from others is how we become an
individual with our own beliefs and opinions and missing out on an opportunity to gain more
knowledge is a sacrifice that humans often make in pursuit of a temporary and short term want or
need as opposed to what they want in their good life as a whole.
In the Song of Songs from the Bible, a man and a woman become romantically involved and
because they have both lived lives in accordance with the Christian religion their entire lives, the
couple fights their urges to give in to physical and sexual desire. The man describes the woman as
an enclosed garden and when he dines in the garden, he is figuratively taking her virginity. After
this, the woman then remembers her time working in the garden not as voluntary but as forced labor,
making it a dark place for her instead of pure happiness. Because the woman wanted physical love
from a man, she let her morals get away from her in pursuit of a short term want. She had always
been a pure virgin and this situation was placed in her life to give her the opportunity to test her
morals but instead she gave in to temptation. Once again, in the pursuit of love, an opportunity to
become the person she always wanted to be and learn from God had been passed up.
This opportunity is not important for the woman

How Does Each Economic Region Decide What To Import
We live in a globalized economic world. Even though specific separate economies maybe separate
from one another, most of them interconnect through trade. How does each economic region decide
what to export as trade and what to import? Each economic region normally cannot produce
everything it needs by itself and do it in a way that is economically viable. This mean that they need
to decide what goods and services they are good at or are the most economically viable. This
specialization in a certain amount of goods and services is based on the absolute and comparative
advantages. Based on these different advantages, regions will choose which products to specialize in
and produce additional amount to use for export or trade. When an

It 's Not A Big Deal
People ask, "How do you do that?" Even though I know exactly what they mean, I say, "How do I
do what?" I do this because I like pretending it 's not a big deal, which is totally not true. Oh, wait a
second, you are possibly lost, so let me explain. I live exactly 6029 miles away from where I call
home. It's been more than a year since I last saw my family. People think I handle my homesickness
pretty good; otherwise, I would have gone back by now. However, I wouldn't say that I got over
homesickness because there is no such thing as that.
Anyway, what is homesickness? Realizing there is no one to take care of you when you get sick?

Furthermore, if you are living abroad, try to find nation based communities. This is very helpful
because if the language is a problem for you, there will people who speak your native language in
the community. Remember people from the community probably passed through the same process
you are passing right now. They would have had the same questions you have right now, so don't
hesitate to ask for help. You will see, they will be willing to help. Moreover, you can join a religious
community such as churches, mosques, and synagogues. These faith–based communities have
occasional gatherings where you can meet with other community members and become a part of
something important for you. Other communities that are based on specific activities as biking,
hiking or dancing are also great opportunities for abroad–living people to surround themselves with
people who share same interests with them and spend good time together.
Secondly, exploring your new place is another way to lessen homesickness. When you first move,
you might feel like the outsider which causes homesickness to increase; therefore, stop being a
tourist and take action to become a local. For instance, plan a visit to must–see places, become
familiar with the new cuisine and participate in local events like festivals. Integrating into the local

Technology 's Impact On Transportation Essay
Technology have greatly impacted the transportation field and in effect have completely changed the
way the human race travel, the way goods are shipped and the economy of every developed nation.
Technology in transportation is not something new, technology have continually had in impact on
travel and transportation. This impact can be see ranging from the Viking "Longships", which were
very fast for their times. These Longships facilitated the Vikings expansion and helped them
conquer new lands that were hundreds of miles away from their homes (Vikings: Vikings at sea).
The railroads in the 1800's also were a new form of technology, and this technology provided an
opportunity for individuals to move farther west to new lands and new opportunities that they never
thought would have existed. In our day and age, technology will continue to have a massive impact
on transportation. Knowing that technology will continue to have an impact on transportation, this
paper will analyze the technological opportunities in the transportation field and the new
opportunities that they will provide in the near future. First, this paper will examine a new form of
rail transportation called Hyperloop. This paper will discuss how Hyperloop affects product
manufacturers and everyday individuals in their daily lives. Second, this paper will look at a new
phase that the Tesla Company is implementing, a phase they title "Master Plan, Part Deux", we will
discuss how this new phase might affect the

True. The gains from trade are dependent on the comparative advantages in production of goods.
Even if one country has the absolute advantage in the production of all goods and they achieve gains
from the trade. 9b) False. It is impossible for one person to have comparative advantage in

Benefits Of Opportunity Cost For Opportunity Costs
Human wants are unlimited but the resources are limited. Therefore, it is not possible to fulfil all the
human desires. As a result, scarcity arises. Scarcity is the condition where the human desires cannot
be fulfilled due to the limitation of available resources. Hence, to fulfil one wish, we give up another
which in economics is termed as the opportunity costs. Due to limited resources and due to
unavailability, individuals and society are forced to incur opportunity costs. Opportunity cost is the
second best alternative that one gives up. Due to the limitations of resources, human chooses the
most viable options as per the benefits and costs.
The diagram above shows the Production Possibility Curve. It shows the level of satisfaction as per
the consumption of coke and Pizza. The points A, B, C, D & E shows the maximum level of output
one can achieve. Any point below the curve is inefficient and any point beyond the curve is
unachievable. In order to enjoy 15 pizzas, one should give up all the coke or in order to enjoy 40
cokes, one should give up all the pizzas. At point B, one can enjoy 13 pizzas and 20 cokes.
Likewise, one can enjoy 10 pizzas and 30 cokes at point C and 5 pizzas and 38 cokes at point D.
In order to enjoy 20 cokes, one has to give up (15–13) i.e. 2 pizzas which can be termed as
opportunity cost. The opportunity cost to have 30 cokes is the 5 pizzas that we give up because in
that point we can have only 10 pizzas. Therefore, to

Back To Military School: A Personal Analysis
When I was in middle school, I struggled to get good grades and follow directions. June 5th 2015
marked the day I was sent to St. John's. It was a painfully cold morning and all the clouds were grey.
I had fallen asleep on the couch the previous night and woke to 2 large men watching my every
move. My mom had threatened to send me to military school many times; however, I never took the
threat seriously. Once I had opened my eyes I realized the threats weren't just a joke. I had a gut
feeling I knew exactly why these 2 men were here. Even when not in comfortable situations it's
important to set positive goals. Not everyone sets goals for their military and academic department,
the overriding benefits of setting goals include higher grades, Gain leader qualities and most
specifically, the opportunity to grow, which will result in a more accomplished adult life. I needed to
get better grades. While living in Colorado and going to public school I had a GPA of .7. I was

interest. I'm sure many of the moms didn't want to send their sons away to a military school;
however, I doubt any of them regret their decision. Seeing what cadets become over time is a
moving experience. When my mom sent me to military school, I was angry. I was mad and I
couldn't understand why she would sent me away to this school I was close minded and didn't see
the overriding benefits that come overtime. My mom gave me the opportunity to grow. The most
needed opportunity I think I will ever be given. If I had stayed in public school I never would have

A Matter Of Preparation Meeting Opportunity
Luck is a matter of preparation meeting opportunity When Oprah Winfrey made the statement
"Luck is a matter of preparation meeting opportunity." I believe she was trying to get across that
there are those in life that look at luck as being simply good turn of events in life that just comes out
of nowhere. But without being prepared to accept such good turns in life the opportunities that face
us will not come to fruition. Personally I was once one of the many that believed that all good things
come to those that wait. But when opportunity after opportunity came and passed my beliefs
changed and I took a new look on life. I began to prepare myself for that next golden opportunity by
taking matters into my own hands and attended community

Summary Of ' New Foundings '
Epilogue: New Foundings
It is a chilly morning in the hustling city of New York. Cars are honking, citizens are yelling, and
employees are on business calls. For Jack Merridew, these sounds are nothing compared to Sergeant
Crosby 's stentorian wake up call.
Every morning at five o'clock, Jack would start the day making his bed, putting on his uniform,
eating breakfast, and heading out for his daily drills. Being in the military has always been
something Jack was set on doing. He worked hard to get into the Royal Military Academy in
Camberley. So when he got accepted, he felt competent. However, after a month of constant
struggles and put downs, he had suddenly started doubting himself. He had given it a few more
weeks to see if things ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I know this is not allowed, but I think this is a good opportunity to get myself out of this stump."
Sergeant Crosby let out an annoyed grunt. He told Jack that he should expect to hear back within a
week. After that week, Jack got a response. Sergeant Crosby said, "Five days Merridew. Only this
once. I talked to the head coordinators and although they were reluctant, I was able to convince
them. I believe you're not the type to run away from something, just because you can't face it."
Sergeant Crosby was right. Although Jack loved being in the military, he was just having a hard time
at the moment.
Jack heads out to the buzzing streets with a cup of coffee in his hands. He contemplates for a second
whether he should go get a nice breakfast, but decides against it. "Hey! Care to buy a newspaper to
start off the morning? It is a good one today. Buy it would ya?" yells a voice a few feet away. Jack
turns to the direction of the voice. A middle aged man with a strong New York accent is looking at
him. Jack replies, "No, I'm good. Thank you anyways." He thought of two reasons he wasn't going
to buy the newspaper, he didn't care much for today's news and the man was being too rude to even
think about doing business with.
"You sure buddy? You're going to miss out I'm telling you!" insisted the man.
Jack grits his teeth. He knows the man won't stop pestering him if he keeps denying. Might as well
buy one for today. Fifty cents won't leave a dent

However, Marks and Spencer could have been biased when creating their website as they want the

only telling half the story as they only want to incorporate the positives rather than the negatives.
The website is easy to access and information can be found very quickly and has already been
produced. This website enabled me to see how M&S aim to maintain their values to continue

My Passion In Life
Passion is an emotion that human beings cannot control, it leads many down paths they never
thought they would go down. I loved football as it became a vessel to unleash anger and stress, but
that passion for that game came crashing down during sophomore year. That summer continued to
have its struggles, but it continued to improve as football season was about to begin and I could not
be more ready to start a new season. However, that dream season never came for me as on one of
the last days of summer, I learned my dad wanted to have hip surgery. A very intense operation that
my dad would need my help to come back as a new man. Which, seems like a good opportunity for
my dad, but for me, it was the end of a passion that I thought I needed to be able to continue to
obtain happiness and enjoy life. I remained worried. I remained dejected. I remained upset. All those
feelings and anger were for naught as my willingness to succeed and try new activities turned my
dad's surgeries into a whole new world of opportunities for me to explore.
The first opportunity I went after was my long lost love of music that I ignored for so long. I walked
into choir class terrified and afraid about what others would think of me being in choir class. That
class is gay. Why would I be in a dumb singing class? That went away so quickly that I don't even
remember not love going to a class more in my entire life, I practically run to that class every day.
To be able to have a class that I look forward

Acer Case
Acer. Inc | Taiwan's Rampaging Dragon | 9/26/2012 |
How would you account for Acer's outstanding start–up? What caused this company to outpace
scores of other Taiwanese PC companies?
Acer is a company that was founded by Shih, his wife and a couple of other people. It was founded
in the 1976 and the electronic market at that time was still small. This time cellphones where not yet
even invented so the market was pretty good for a starter. This is I believe one of the reasons why
Acer's startup was outstanding.
One of the other many reasons is because of their willingness to try everything that came their way.
They dared to do everything, from providing engineering to publishing trade journals. They were

What do you think of his new business concept ("fast food" model, Uniload, Smiling Curve, etc.)
and his new organization model (Client–Server, 21 in 21, etc.)? Is this a visionary framework for
Acer's future competitiveness, or a random series of ill–conceived top–down initiatives?
Shih came back with some lessons learnt. Some of which came from Leu despite him leaving in a
bad way. He found Acers organization was better and this helped him achieve his goals. He brought
in new philosophies which lifted up the company and he communicated his ideas to Acer employees
making sure they got the message and then acted upon it. The philosophy like 'fast food businesses'
helped Acer to lower its costs and in the end make more profits. I believe through these philosophies
Shih managed to get the attention of its employees and the message was therefore well
communicated.
Despite these strategies being vague I believe they were visionary. Acer needed to be redeemed to
its old position and be given back its power. Its employees needed to be encouraged and be
motivated to work. These strategies did the trick and created a turnaround for Acer.
As Stan, what action would you take on Aspire? Should he approve its continued development?
Should he allow AAC to continue to lead the project?
With all of the changes Acer underwent, I would say Aspire was a good innovation and it is a
chance not to pass. Aspire is a

Poverty Can Be Defined As The State Of Being Poor
Angel Rosales
Professor Nkosi
Sociology
2 December 2015
Poverty in America Poverty can be defined as the state of being poor which refers to the deprivation
or insufficiency of basic needs which include food, water, shelter, clothing, and education. In
America, poverty affects millions of people with a poverty rate of almost 15%. Poverty is an
important social problem to address because it affects everyone in a society either directly or
indirectly. Those that are affected directly are about 47 million people with a majority of those being
in certain groups that are at a higher risks of living in poverty such as families with children, single
parents, certain ethnic minorities, or people with disabilities, however, poverty can still affect
anyone, in any group.
The number of people in poverty will likely rise due to the long recession, low job growth, and cuts
on state services. People living in poverty struggle day to day with the lack of proper resources
when they don 't have equal opportunities for a good paying job which is why they remain poor.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau Poverty Thresholds, 2012, a family of four making under
about $24,000 is living below the federal poverty line. In our society, poverty causes other social
issues such as crime or inequality, therefore, fixing the problem of poverty will help improve society
and the lives of millions of people. One of the groups affected by poverty are students. The
Washington Post reported that the majority

and what exactly the course would cover. Here I am today finishing up my first term of college and I
must say this class has definitely helped me out a lot, in ways which I didn't think it could. The term
"College Survival" fascinated me and made me want to learn more about it, so I ended up taking the
course. This course has helped me in so many ways I don't know where I can start by listing
everything it's helped me with. While taking the course we were assigned journal entries to
successfully accomplish and turn in the next class. These journal entries had an unexpected impact
on me, as I learned quite a lot from completing them. One of my favorite journal entries was the
"My Life Plan" journal entry, this one in specific made me explore my future and look ahead at what
lays ahead of me. Planning ahead can be quite frustrating and intimidating at times, but in the end
you feel good once you're done planning. A specific situation I learned was creating short and long
term goals, I never have done that before prior to this journal entry. Writing out your goals
physically where you can see them in front of you is great and I learned that there is hope and
greatness is ahead of me. After writing this journal it has made my future more clear for me, and I
now know what my short

Career Research Paper Electrical Lineman
This paper is about a career of being an electrical lineman. It will talk about how to become one, the
work environment, what they do, how much it pays, and other information.
The skills and training of being a lineman. A career as a lineman requires specific skills and training,
offers common compensation and benefits, and has an expected career path and opportunity for
advancement.
Linemen need to have quick problem solving skills, and very good hands on skills.
Linemen do not have to have a college degree, all they need is a high school diploma, and Alabama
Power will train the lineman once he is hired. Every time you turn on your lights, call someone on
the phone, watch cable television, or access the Internet, you are connecting to complex networks of
physical power lines and cables that provide you with electricity and connect you with the outside
world. Line installers and repairers, also known as line workers or linemen, are the people who
install and maintain these networks. (Occupational outlook). ... Show more content on

Strategies For Helping Skills Model
As I have begun to better understand helping skills this semester I find myself frequently looking
back to the helping skills model you provided in class. During one of our first few weeks of class, I
printed out the model and taped it to the wall in my office. While I don't look at it every day or carry
it in my pocket as I interact with students, it sits quietly in the back of my mind. It serves as a small
reminder to generally follow an outline but create my own style as I learn to become a better helper.
For the purpose of this final exam, I have chosen to break down the model and discuss my strengths
and weaknesses, where I want to improve, and insights I have discovered while establishing my
own version of the helping model this semester.
Building Relationships:
According to the Helping Skills Model (2016), the stage of building relationships includes the
concepts of entry, clarification, structure, and relationship. This semester I have been able to
practice helping skills in two distinct ways, both of which require different practices in regards to
the building relationships aspect of helping. Participating in interventions, in my opinion, does not
provide a good opportunity to build a relationship with the student. You see them for maybe an hour,
typically twenty minutes, and are forced to quickly introduce yourself, learn about them, and
address issues that have been occurring. I have never had an opportunity to follow up with a student
after intervening, so in

Should Students Get Paid For Good Grades
Children that go to school should not be paid for good grades. Some people believe that students
that have good grades should be paid money for their good grades, and I disagree. This affects
students, parents and even schools. When you start paying students for doing something that they
need to do in order to be successful, they might develop a certain mindset where they will only be
motivated if there is money on the table. If this mindset is developed, it may stick to the students
throughout the course of their life, only being motivated by money and not opportunity. This is a
very bad character trait, and could even be seen as scummy. Do you want children to throw
opportunities away just because money isn't a factor? This mindset

Summary Of Not Just Study Drugs By Dr. Keisha Ray
In Dr. Keisha Ray's essay entitled, Not Just "Study Drugs" For the Rich: Stimulants as Moral Tools
for Creating Opportunities for Socially Disadvantaged Students, she argues that we are morally
obligated to consider whether or not stimulants can be used to improve the circumstances of
children that are underprivileged as a result of social and economic inequality. In this paper I will
focus on the value of education and whether stimulants will actually improve the experiences of
disadvantaged students and the education that they receive. First, I will elaborate on Ray's
arguments for the use stimulants and her present her premises. Then, I will describe the purposes
and benefits of education according to Ray. I will differentiate between the intrinsic good of
education and the competitive value of education. By differentiating between these two forms of
education, I will argue that stimulants will not actually remedy the lack of opportunities available to
disadvantaged students because stimulants can not effectively reduce opportunity or social gaps on a
systemic level. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She argues that by looking at stimulants from a social standpoint, the opportunity gap is treated on a
socio–political level rather than on an individual to individual basis. In other terms, Ray want to
"explore stimulants' ability to remedy social deficits, not biological deficits"(15). According to Ray,
this can only be done if we look past the controversial treatment/enhancement distinction. For this
reason, she coins the term 'opportunity maintenance,' instead, which focuses on the way in which
opportunities increase our general well being. Dr. Keisha Ray's arguments are built on the following

Our School Has Many Resources And I Wanted To Know If Faculty
Our school has many resources and I wanted to know if faculty members knew about all of the
resources, how often they used these resources, and what department did they work in, to determine
if one department was more informed about our resources. I felt this was the first step in
determining if additional resources were needed. Through talking with James, the director of the
EJME as well as my principal, Jennie, it was determined that a survey would work best, and that it
should be limited in the number of questions, containing no open–ended questions that would
require writing. Everyone felt that teachers might be more willing to complete the survey if it were
shorter, so I ended up with only four questions in the survey that required ... Show more content on

Other resources that are not often though of as resources are the teacher professional development
funds (Pro–Grow). Yearly, money is put back into the general fund, unused by staff and teachers
alike. This money, available for our use to become more effective teachers for the diverse
population that we serve goes unused, even when our school believes that we are a teaching and
learning school, both adults and students alike. If learning is essential to the school, why is it that
only 64.4% have used this in the past twelve months and only 50.8% have utilized Pro–Grow in the
current school year 2016–2017, furthermore, why does only 89.8% of the faculty have knowledge
of Pro–Grow funds?
Overall, I felt that I had a low response to the survey, with only 59 out of 150 teachers or 39% of
faculty responding. Both statistically and for my own satisfaction, I expected more people to
respond to the survey. Not only was the survey sent out several times, I also spoke to people
directly, asking them to complete the survey. Nonetheless, even my own department did not meet
100% participation, as teachers were absent for various reasons.
Sources or error could include non–sampling errors such as errors associated with interest. Interest
being the survey was not a requirement of faculty of the administration, so there was less interest in
completion, or faculty had not interest in the question asked. Furthermore, teachers may also have

Personal Statement : Baptist Health Lexington
Subjective I really enjoyed my first week in the HIM Department at Baptist Health Lexington. I was
required to attend orientation on Monday and Tuesday before I could begin in the HIM department.
One complaint I have is that I wish I would could have used those two days to become familiar with
the HIM department because a significant portion of the orientation was over pay and benefits
which didn't pertain to me. My preceptor, Linda, as well as all of employees in the department,
made me feel extremely welcome and were eager to answer any questions I had this week. I was
surprised at how well the HSA program had prepared me for working in this type of setting. When
talking with employees in the department about their specific job duties I felt that I was
knowledgable and gave off a good impression. Originally I had been a little bit nervous but after
getting started I gained a boost of confidence and became really excited about the future and starting
my career. Baptist Health Lexington is definitely an organization I would like to work for one day.
They are focused on employee satisfaction, providing the best care possible and have a lot of
exciting changes coming in the future, such as the opening of the new North Tower in a month and
the move the Epic EHR system in June. Objective The first two days of the week I had to complete

Essay About Immigrants Coming To America
People come to america, expecting somewhere they can better their lives, but in current
circumstances, America is not a land of opportunity for immigrants, and women. There is the fact
that It is difficult to have a good life in America for immigrants, Women in America don't have as
much opportunity as women in other countries, and Immigrants don't have as much opportunity
with job and economics as they should. Immigrants come to america, hoping to have a chance to
better their lives, but It is difficult to have a good life in America if you are an immigrant. Just to

Our 3rd argument states that Immigrants don't have as much opportunity with job and economics as
they should. Immigrants have less opportunities with jobs because, half of well educated immigrants
are unemployed or in jobs they are overqualified for. This means an immigrant cannot be accepted
into a job because they either are not accepted, or being passed over for a job that they are qualified
for. If they can't even get a job they are qualified for, they obviously can't have a good life. With
these facts we prove that America is not a land of opportunity for immigrants, and women. We
believe that it is difficult to have a good life in America for immigrants, Women in America don't
have as much opportunity as women in other countries, and Immigrants don't have as much

The Good Opportunity For Competent Managers Essay
Experienced, older employees hesitantly accommodate changes and refuses to be open–minded. The
root cause of this issue is experienced employees feel that their status is being threatened. Also, they
are stuck in one mind–set on how to get the job done. Experienced employees are not adaptable to
changes that may contribute to the success of the company, especially if the ideas come from
inexperienced, younger employees. This significantly affects improving continuously, working
efficiently and effectively and recognizing the true value of teamwork. However, McClelland's
Achievement Motivation Theory explains this moral obligation regarding execution: individuals
want to achieve accomplishments through their own endeavors instead of cooperation or elements
outside their control. Achievement develops from the accomplishment of the assignment and not
from acknowledgment from others. This is the perfect opportunity for competent managers to be
effective leaders and impact other individuals, positively by changing the mind–set of older
employees to become more adaptable.
In addition, few senior managers work from home three days a week and it becomes a problem
when other employees do the same. Senior managers believe they have the authority and power to
do as they please and Newstrom describe this, as personal power, which is also known as referent
power or charismatic power. "It is the ability of leaders to develop followers from the strength of
their own personalities."

4 hours away (not including traffic), while one is less than 10 minutes away from my home. Though
both bands cost the same, I value Hot Stuff's concert at $225. I am debating on which two bands to
invest my time in seeing, or even second thinking whether or not I should stay home and rest in
preparation for my GRE exam in the morning. Marginal utility is a vital economic concept used to
determine how much an item a consumer will buy. By definition, marginal utility is the additional
satisfaction a consumer gains from consuming one more unit of a good or service. In my particular
case, I am willing to pay a marginal utility of $225 per ticket, drive 4 hours to Las Vegas, and return
to Anaheim once the concert is over around 1 AM. But does that make any sense for me to spend
almost 12 hours, the night before my exam, attending a concert in another state? Absolutely not!
Although the satisfaction of attending a concert I've been waiting several years to see will be
spectacular, the amount of satisfaction that comes with resting well and earning a high GRE score
will be much greater. Giving up my favorite band, Hot Stuff, would be the first off the list. A good
nights' rest is simply the next best alternative to dismiss the concert. The Good Times concert at the

How To Write An Essay About My Life In Panama
Panama City, Panama: taught me more about myself than I ever expected. The simplicity of their

I know, that I would leave that country changed. Coming to Eckerd I hoped that I would have the

of throughout my four years here. Many students that I have met at Eckerd encouraged me to go on

had taken. I did not know if I believed them and their claims that one trip could change your life, but
I decided to try it. I investigated all the places that Eckerd offered for spring break and decided that

affected children in an attempt to prevent the disease from spreading through the orphanage. It
broke my heart to see these children living in seclusion when it could be entirely possible for them

Summary Of Fusion Youth Group Observation Paper
I observed Fusion youth group at Shepherdstown United Methodist Church with Shawn Gray. His
phone number is (574) 460–8132. Roughly twenty–five kids attended along with two leaders. The
youth group consisted of the normal range of ages from 12 to 18. Primarily younger students
attended, with more girls present. Majority of the youth appeared enthusiastic to participate and
seemed to know each other well. They eagerly engaged in everything planned.
The youth's connection with Shawn versus with the volunteers differed greatly. Most of the
volunteers sat working on their computers. Only on occasion, would they get up to help with the
youth; overall there was not much interaction. On the other hand, the youth and Shawn seemed to
connect. Listening carefully when he spoke; showed their respect for him. Based on the interaction
alone, I would not have guessed that Shawn had only started recently. They had times both of
activity and spiritual focus. Tthe youth group structure alternated between organized games and
study. First, Shawn went through and answered their questions about the Bible. Later on, he taught

teaching of Joseph, they learned about trusting God, among other things. While the focus was there,
I find that it seemed to be lacking. I believe this youth group is prone to the same weakness as many
other ministries. On my visit, they did not attain a true understanding of both the cost and truth of
following God. Most likely, the application of discipleship that was addressed is something the
students can understand during youth group time, but they will not be able to carry it home with

Consumer Theory and Budget Line
Week 6 Chapter 4: The theory of Individual Behavior
Question 1. Page 154 ( with some modifications) A consumer has $300 to spend on goods X and Y.
The market prices of these two goods are Px = $15 and Py = $5.
a. Draw the budget constraint. i.e provide a carefully labeled diagram
b. What is the market rate of substitution? Give an interpretation.
c. Illustrate the consumer's opportunity set in part a) above.
d. Show how the consumer's opportunity set changes if income increases by $300.
e. Does the increase of income by $300 in part d) above alter the market rate of substitution between
goods X and Y?
Answer:
a. The total budget is $300. Px and Py are used to stand for market prices of two goods x and y.
Hence, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Steps:
1. X+4Y=60
2. X=–4Y+60, if Y=0, then X=60
3. Y=–(0.25)X+15, if X=0, then Y=15
4. So the points (0, 15) and (60, 0) are on the curve
Thus, we can draw the diagram of budget line as follow:
So the opportunity set in this case is the shadow area shown above.
c. If the price of good X increases to $20, then the equation will change to 600=20X+40Y. So the
new budget line is shown below:
Thus, the budget line will rotates clockwise as shown above. The opportunity set will decrease
which means consumer has less options of quantity combination of goods.
d. Yes, it will alter the market rate of substitution. This is because the slope of budget line changes.
Also, because the price of good X is increase, so we have to give up more amount of good Y in
order to purchase a certain amount of good X. So the change in part c will alter the market rate of
substitution in this

  • 2. Comparative Advantage Vs. Opportunity Costs Comparative advantage simply means a country or a firm is able to produce goods or services at the lowest opportunity cost. This means that the firm or country can produce a particular good at a cheaper rate. Based on this theory, the countries which specialize in the production of that have the lowest opportunity costs often bring about an increament in the economic welfare. Countries or firms tend to produce more while at the same time consuming less of the goods or services they have a comparative advantage (Ruffin, 2002). The aspects of trade are always dynamic. When a particular country is producing a given good better than another country producing another different good (with the assumption that each demands for both goods), they would easily trade. However, a challenge comes when one country produces both goods in a better way than the other country. Such a shift in the aspects of trade focuses on the differences between the theory of comparative advantage versus opportunity costs (Ruffin, 2002). The comparative advantage theory champions for the increased benefits with specialization. The countries which specialize in the production of certain goods they are perfect at producing will end up profiting in such venture. Consequently, the gains made by such firms or countries from the trade can be used to acquire goods they desire and do not produce. Comparative advantage will thus not only affect the types of goods produced but also the pricing of various goods ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. What Is the Cost of the Good Life? Essay Throughout history all over the world, humans have been searching for their own "good life". What each person's good life is and what it takes to attain that life differs greatly across all aspects of humanity, causing it to require much time and effort for each person to discover their concept of a good life. This makes sense because of the vast differences in beliefs, experiences, and opinions that also play a part in constructing a large gap in social and financial statuses. For every human the sacrifices and benefits that come with finding one's good life are considered the cost it took to get there, and each cost has a different amount of an impact on a person's journey. Finding a partner and love seems to be a common theme ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Only a single human can ultimately find their own good life, but outside influences often have a large impact in assisting a person find it much quicker. Learning from others is how we become an individual with our own beliefs and opinions and missing out on an opportunity to gain more knowledge is a sacrifice that humans often make in pursuit of a temporary and short term want or need as opposed to what they want in their good life as a whole. In the Song of Songs from the Bible, a man and a woman become romantically involved and because they have both lived lives in accordance with the Christian religion their entire lives, the couple fights their urges to give in to physical and sexual desire. The man describes the woman as an enclosed garden and when he dines in the garden, he is figuratively taking her virginity. After this, the woman then remembers her time working in the garden not as voluntary but as forced labor, making it a dark place for her instead of pure happiness. Because the woman wanted physical love from a man, she let her morals get away from her in pursuit of a short term want. She had always been a pure virgin and this situation was placed in her life to give her the opportunity to test her morals but instead she gave in to temptation. Once again, in the pursuit of love, an opportunity to become the person she always wanted to be and learn from God had been passed up. This opportunity is not important for the woman ... Based on these different advantages, regions will choose which products to specialize in and produce additional amount to use for export or trade. When an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. It 's Not A Big Deal People ask, "How do you do that?" Even though I know exactly what they mean, I say, "How do I do what?" I do this because I like pretending it 's not a big deal, which is totally not true. Oh, wait a second, you are possibly lost, so let me explain. I live exactly 6029 miles away from where I call home. It's been more than a year since I last saw my family. People think I handle my homesickness pretty good; otherwise, I would have gone back by now. However, I wouldn't say that I got over homesickness because there is no such thing as that. Anyway, what is homesickness? Realizing there is no one to take care of you when you get sick? Putting a second plate for your teddy bear on the dinner table and pretending nothing is wrong? This is very helpful because if the language is a problem for you, there will people who speak your native language in the community. Remember people from the community probably passed through the same process you are passing right now. They would have had the same questions you have right now, so don't hesitate to ask for help. You will see, they will be willing to help. Moreover, you can join a religious community such as churches, mosques, and synagogues. These faith–based communities have occasional gatherings where you can meet with other community members and become a part of something important for you. Other communities that are based on specific activities as biking, hiking or dancing are also great opportunities for abroad–living people to surround themselves with people who share same interests with them and spend good time together. Secondly, exploring your new place is another way to lessen homesickness. When you first move, you might feel like the outsider which causes homesickness to increase; therefore, stop being a tourist and take action to become a local. For instance, plan a visit to must–see places, become familiar with the new cuisine and participate in local events like festivals. • 8. Benefits Of Opportunity Cost For Opportunity Costs Human wants are unlimited but the resources are limited. Therefore, it is not possible to fulfil all the human desires. As a result, scarcity arises. Scarcity is the condition where the human desires cannot be fulfilled due to the limitation of available resources. Hence, to fulfil one wish, we give up another which in economics is termed as the opportunity costs. Due to limited resources and due to unavailability, individuals and society are forced to incur opportunity costs. Opportunity cost is the second best alternative that one gives up. Due to the limitations of resources, human chooses the most viable options as per the benefits and costs. The diagram above shows the Production Possibility Curve. It shows the level of satisfaction as per the consumption of coke and Pizza. The points A, B, C, D & E shows the maximum level of output one can achieve. Any point below the curve is inefficient and any point beyond the curve is unachievable. In order to enjoy 15 pizzas, one should give up all the coke or in order to enjoy 40 cokes, one should give up all the pizzas. 2 pizzas which can be termed as opportunity cost. The opportunity cost to have 30 cokes is the 5 pizzas that we give up because in that point we can have only 10 pizzas. Therefore, to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It was a painfully cold morning and all the clouds were grey. I had fallen asleep on the couch the previous night and woke to 2 large men watching my every move. My mom had threatened to send me to military school many times; however, I never took the threat seriously. Once I had opened my eyes I realized the threats weren't just a joke. I had a gut feeling I knew exactly why these 2 men were here. Even when not in comfortable situations it's important to set positive goals. Not everyone sets goals for their military and academic department, the overriding benefits of setting goals include higher grades, Gain leader qualities and most specifically, the opportunity to grow, which will result in a more accomplished adult life. For Jack Merridew, these sounds are nothing compared to Sergeant Crosby 's stentorian wake up call. Every morning at five o'clock, Jack would start the day making his bed, putting on his uniform, eating breakfast, and heading out for his daily drills. Being in the military has always been something Jack was set on doing. He worked hard to get into the Royal Military Academy in Camberley. So when he got accepted, he felt competent. I talked to the head coordinators and although they were reluctant, I was able to convince them. I believe you're not the type to run away from something, just because you can't face it." Sergeant Crosby was right. Although Jack loved being in the military, he was just having a hard time at the moment. Jack heads out to the buzzing streets with a cup of coffee in his hands. He contemplates for a second whether he should go get a nice breakfast, but decides against it. "Hey! Care to buy a newspaper to start off the morning? It is a good one today. Buy it would ya?" yells a voice a few feet away. Jack turns to the direction of the voice. A middle aged man with a strong New York accent is looking at him. Jack replies, "No, I'm good. Thank you anyways." He thought of two reasons he wasn't going to buy the newspaper, he didn't care much for today's news and the man was being too rude to even think about doing business with. All those feelings and anger were for naught as my willingness to succeed and try new activities turned my dad's surgeries into a whole new world of opportunities for me to explore. It was founded in the 1976 and the electronic market at that time was still small. This time cellphones where not yet even invented so the market was pretty good for a starter. Some of which came from Leu despite him leaving in a bad way. He found Acers organization was better and this helped him achieve his goals. He brought in new philosophies which lifted up the company and he communicated his ideas to Acer employees making sure they got the message and then acted upon it. The philosophy like 'fast food businesses' helped Acer to lower its costs and in the end make more profits. I believe through these philosophies Shih managed to get the attention of its employees and the message was therefore well communicated. Despite these strategies being vague I believe they were visionary. Acer needed to be redeemed to its old position and be given back its power. Its employees needed to be encouraged and be motivated to work. These strategies did the trick and created a turnaround for Acer. As Stan, what action would you take on Aspire? In this paper I will focus on the value of education and whether stimulants will actually improve the experiences of disadvantaged students and the education that they receive. First, I will elaborate on Ray's arguments for the use stimulants and her present her premises. Then, I will describe the purposes and benefits of education according to Ray. Essay About Immigrants Coming To America People come to america, expecting somewhere they can better their lives, but in current circumstances, America is not a land of opportunity for immigrants, and women. There is the fact that It is difficult to have a good life in America for immigrants, Women in America don't have as much opportunity as women in other countries, and Immigrants don't have as much opportunity with job and economics as they should. Immigrants come to america, hoping to have a chance to better their lives, but It is difficult to have a good life in America if you are an immigrant. Our 3rd argument states that Immigrants don't have as much opportunity with job and economics as they should. Immigrants have less opportunities with jobs because, half of well educated immigrants are unemployed or in jobs they are overqualified for. This means an immigrant cannot be accepted into a job because they either are not accepted, or being passed over for a job that they are qualified for. If they can't even get a job they are qualified for, they obviously can't have a good life. With these facts we prove that America is not a land of opportunity for immigrants, and women. We believe that it is difficult to have a good life in America for immigrants, Women in America don't have as much opportunity as women in other countries, and Immigrants don't have as much opportunity with job and economics as they should. If we call ourselves the land of opportunity, but not all people have opportunities to have a better life than they previously had, then we are not the land of opportunity, and something needs to ... • 30. The Good Opportunity For Competent Managers Essay Experienced, older employees hesitantly accommodate changes and refuses to be open–minded. The root cause of this issue is experienced employees feel that their status is being threatened. Also, they are stuck in one mind–set on how to get the job done. Experienced employees are not adaptable to changes that may contribute to the success of the company, especially if the ideas come from inexperienced, younger employees. This significantly affects improving continuously, working efficiently and effectively and recognizing the true value of teamwork. However, McClelland's Achievement Motivation Theory explains this moral obligation regarding execution: individuals want to achieve accomplishments through their own endeavors instead of cooperation or elements outside their control. Achievement develops from the accomplishment of the assignment and not from acknowledgment from others. This is the perfect opportunity for competent managers to be effective leaders and impact other individuals, positively by changing the mind–set of older employees to become more adaptable. In addition, few senior managers work from home three days a week and it becomes a problem when other employees do the same. Senior managers believe they have the authority and power to do as they please and Newstrom describe this, as personal power, which is also known as referent power or charismatic power. "It is the ability of leaders to develop followers from the strength of their own personalities." ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Imagine that you have $150 to see a concert. You can either see "Hot Stuff" or you can see "Good Times Band." Assume that you value Hot Stuff's concert at $225 and Good Times' concert at $150. Both concerts cost $150 per ticket, but it would take you a couple of hours to drive to Hot Stuff's concert and you have to be in school (the next) morning for an exam. Both tickets for both the bands are $150 per ticket – but one is in the state of Nevada, which is about 4 hours away (not including traffic), while one is less than 10 minutes away from my home. Though both bands cost the same, I value Hot Stuff's concert at $225. I am debating on which two bands to invest my time in seeing, or even second thinking whether or not I should stay home and rest in preparation for my GRE exam in the morning. Marginal utility is a vital economic concept used to determine how much an item a consumer will buy. By definition, marginal utility is the additional satisfaction a consumer gains from consuming one more unit of a good or service. In my particular case, I am willing to pay a marginal utility of $225 per ticket, drive 4 hours to Las Vegas, and return to Anaheim once the concert is over around 1 AM. But does that make any sense for me to spend almost 12 hours, the night before my exam, attending a concert in another state? Absolutely not! Although the satisfaction of attending a concert I've been waiting several years to see will be spectacular, the amount of satisfaction that comes with resting well and earning a high GRE score will be much greater. Giving up my favorite band, Hot Stuff, would be the first off the list. A good nights' rest is simply the next best alternative to dismiss the concert. The Good Times concert at the Anaheim House of Blues sounds very ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The people in Panama took nothing and made it into something. Little did I know, that I would leave that country changed. Coming to Eckerd I hoped that I would have the opportunity to travel the world. Eckerd offers an array of programs which I hoped to take advantage of throughout my four years here. Many students that I have met at Eckerd encouraged me to go on a service learning trip, talking on and on about the life changing moments that they had on trips they had taken. I did not know if I believed them and their claims that one trip could change your life, but I decided to try it. I investigated all the places that Eckerd offered for spring break and decided that Panama was my first choice. In Panama, they do not have the extensive medical knowledge that we have so they do not have the tools and knowledge to take care of children diagnosed with such a serious illness. The best they could do was secluding the affected children in an attempt to prevent the disease from spreading through the orphanage. It broke my heart to see these children living in seclusion when it could be entirely possible for them to be cared for, loved, and provided with the medical attention they require. This trip taught me both about the beauty of Panama and living simplistically but also about ways that I could potentially use my privilege as an American with access to higher education to help children like the ones I saw in Panama feel happy, healthy, and most importantly, ... Roughly twenty–five kids attended along with two leaders. The youth group consisted of the normal range of ages from 12 to 18. Primarily younger students attended, with more girls present. Majority of the youth appeared enthusiastic to participate and seemed to know each other well. They eagerly engaged in everything planned. The youth's connection with Shawn versus with the volunteers differed greatly. Most of the volunteers sat working on their computers. Only on occasion, would they get up to help with the youth; overall there was not much interaction. On the other hand, the youth and Shawn seemed to connect. Listening carefully when he spoke; showed their respect for him. Based on the interaction alone, I would not have guessed that Shawn had only started recently. I believe this youth group is prone to the same weakness as many other ministries. On my visit, they did not attain a true understanding of both the cost and truth of following God. So the points (0, 15) and (60, 0) are on the curve Thus, we can draw the diagram of budget line as follow: So the opportunity set in this case is the shadow area shown above. c. If the price of good X increases to $20, then the equation will change to 600=20X+40Y. So the new budget line is shown below: Thus, the budget line will rotates clockwise as shown above. The opportunity set will decrease which means consumer has less options of quantity combination of goods. d. Yes, it will alter the market rate of substitution.
