• The universe is everything that exists, including all matter,
energy, and space.
• It is estimated to be around 13.8 billion years old and
continues to expand at an accelerating rate.

containing billions of stars and their planetary systems.
• Our own galaxy, the Milky Way, contains approximately 100
billion stars.

• The Big Bang theory is the most widely accepted scientific

• According to the theory, the universe began as a singularity, an
infinitely dense and hot point, which rapidly expanded and
cooled, leading to the formation of matter, galaxies, and

MATTER
• Despite all the matter that we can see and observe, scientists
have determined that there is far more matter in the universe
that cannot be seen, known as dark matter and dark energy.
• Dark matter is thought to make up approximately 27% of the
universe, while dark energy is believed to account for
approximately 68% of the universe.

• Scientists predict that the universe will continue to expand at
an accelerating rate, eventually leading to the heat death of
the universe, where all matter is evenly distributed and no
more energy can be extracted from it.
