2. Step One:Know Background
Information
To survive the Black Death, you must know what it
is. The Black Death was a pandemic that killed 75
million people. It got the name, Black Death,
because black represented glum or dreadful. The
‘death’ part of the name stood for all of the
people who lost their lives. People got the
disease(Yersinia pestis) from fleas which got the
disease from rats. There were 3 different
manifestations. The three were the bubonic
plague, pneumonic plague, and septicaemic plague.
3. Step Two:Avoid infected
Areas
To survive the Black Death, you must avoid the
infected areas. The Black Death started in China so
you definitely want to stay away from there.You
also want to stay away from the Middle East. The
Black Death went through all of Eastern Europe.
The disease spread extremely quickly so you want
to stay away from those areas if you want to
survive this pandemic.
4. Step Three:Avoid People
To survive the Black Death, you must avoid people
at all costs. People could have the disease and not
even know. If they don’t know, you won’t either.
Stay away from people and isolate yourself from
everyone to make sure you don’t get infected.
People who are coughing and/or sneezing have a
high chance of having the disease so stay away
from them.
5. Step Four:Check for
Symptoms
Make sure you always check yourself for
symptoms. One symptom is buboes. Buboes are
lymph nodes that are swollen and you want to
check your neck, armpits, and groin for them.
Buboes are the Greek word for groin. Buboes are
a purple, hard knot that can burst. Other
symptoms are coughing and sneezing.

6. Step Five:Get Rat Traps and
Flea Repellent
If you want to survive the pandemic, you will need
to make sure fleas and rats don’t get to you.
Purchase flea repellent and lots of it. Have it near
you constantly and spray as much as necessary.
Spread rat traps around your home to make sure
rats don’t get inside. They carry the disease
Yersinia pestis which will kill you. If rats or fleas
get to you, your chances of surviving decrease a
large amount.
7. Step Six:Wait until the
Pandemic is Over
You must wait until the pandemic is over before
you can even step outside.You should have
everything you need to live inside your house.
Wait until people get back to their normal lives
before you become out in the open where danger
is stalking you like a tiger stalks its prey. Once
people aren’t becoming infected anymore, you can
come out of your house and live normally again.

8. Step Seven:Find New Land
After the pandemic is over, you should probably
move somewhere else.You don’t want to be near
the place that just had a pandemic that killed 75
million people. A third of Europe’s population had
been killed anyway so you would be very lonely
there. It is estimated that there were even more
deaths in North Africa and Asia.You want to start
a new life of on the right foot. I suggest you go to
North America to get away from the Eastern
Hemisphere.

9. Step Eight:Get a Job/Find an
Income
Unemployment rates are amazingly high. Apply for
a job. If you apply, most likely you will get the job.
You will be accepted because the managers need
workers in tough times like these. Start
somewhere small like a grocery store or 7-11.
Eventually, you could be working in an office. Make
sure you demand a high salary so you live the
dream life.
10. Step Nine:Purchase a
Dwelling
With your steady income, make sure you purchase
a dwelling. Personally, I would start off with an
apartment and work my way up. Considering how
much money I make determines which kind of
dwelling I live in. If you have a family, I would start
off with a house.You need to stay healthy because
you may be more vulnerable to easier diseases or
sicknesses.
11. Step Ten:Getting Medication
To make sure you are completely safe from the
disease, get the antibiotics. Antibiotics are only
provided to the people who have been infected
with animals or fleas with the infection. Make sure
you let them know you just survived the Black
Death in Europe and that you need the antibiotics
for you and your family. They’ll let you have them.
