1. Backing up your Data
The main reason why people lose data is carelessness. You should always create a backup of
your data, so you can easily recover data when the unexpected happens. Otherwise, you'll find yourself
attempting to recover data that could have been easily accessed. If you don't already know, data can be
saved on your internal hard drive or an external hard drive. The absolute best practice is to backup your
data on an external hard drive, but that costs money. Another option is to save your backup data
online. There are some websites allowing you to save up to 15 gigabytes (GB) of data without paying.
You could also pay to use a more secure website.
Window's Backup is the perfect software for keeping your data safe. It is installed within
Windows 7. Alternatively, you can download a software from the internet that does the same tasks as
Windows Backup. However, we don’t recommend downloading unfamiliar software from the internet.
In this tutorial, we will explain in detail how to backup data using Window's Backup.
Taking Advantage of Window's Backup
Step 1:
To open Windows 7 backup software, go to the start menu and write “Backup and restore” like in the
below picture.

3. If you have created a backup earlier, you can restore your computer by going to “Select another backup
to restore files from”. If you have never created a backup, then you need to set up one.
The following window is the very first window that will show up when you press “Set up backup”.
Wait for the above window to finish; after that, another window will show up.

4. Step 2
In this window you can choose where you want your backup to be saved. As you can see in the below
picture, the partition in which the operating system is saved isn't listed.
As we mentioned earlier, it’s the best practice to save your backup to an external hard drive .

5. In the next window, you will have the recommended option, “Let Windows choose". However, you can
choose the other option, which is “Let me choose”.

6. After you have chosen one of the above options, the following window will show up. We are just one
step away from creating a backup for your computer.
Press “Run” and then all you have to do is to wait.

7. Note that the backup will be scheduled for every Sunday, but you can alter these setting by going to the
"turn off schedule" option on the left side of the window.
